I really wanted to give this place no stars. My older brother, his girlfriend, her coworker, my little brother, and I thought it would be a good place to go. We walked in and sat down.
Flag 1: no greeting, no "Welcome to Dot's", nothing.
The table was slightly dirty so my little brother began cleaning it off with a napkin. A waitress came and handed my brother's girlfriend a stack of menus, and began wiping the table.
Flag 2: Again, no greeting. She just handed the menus over without a word.
My little brother couldn't find a trash can to put the dirty napkin in so he asked the waitress where the trash was. She stopped wiping and held out her hand for him to place the napkin in.
Flag 3: She didn't open her mouth to answer him. A simple "I can get that for you" would have sufficed.
She proceeds to take the napkin and finishes wiping the table. My older brother, who sat there patiently waiting for the waitress to say something, abruptly announces to us, "We can go."
That's just what we did. When the waitress notices that we're standing up, she FINALLY opens her mouth and says, "Are y'all leaving?"
Flag, flag, FLAG! You only acknowledge our presence when we decide to exit the restaurant?! Seriously?
I am in no way, shape, or form of a racist; I respect all people. However, I do believe our skin color played a factor in how we we treated. We were the only African American group in the establishment. Earlier that same day, a friend of mine left a negative review of Dot's Diner on Facebook stating she received similar treatment.
I will not be returning or supporting this type of business.
