Coffee, tacos, and cocktails served on a huge patio

"Open from early until late, this vegan-friendly casual patio bar in North Loop is a great spot for extended hangouts. The bar serves cocktails and coffee (and doesn’t charge extra for nondairy milk) along with tacos and other casual fare. The patio has picnic tables, Adirondack surrounding fire pits, colorful murals, and a kid-friendly area for little ones to explore." - Erin Russell

"A favored coffee destination mentioned alongside other top cafes, appreciated for its consistent drinks and role in reviewers’ routines." - Erin Russell

"In the North Loop, I followed Double Trouble, a vegan restaurant-bar-coffee hybrid that opened in June as a partnership between Vegan Nom and Barrett’s Coffee. The partnership originally served Vegan Nom’s vegan tacos alongside Barrett’s coffees and cocktails, but by late September the partners split after an Instagram story revealed the restaurant was serving non-vegan tacos; Vegan Nom announced it was “no longer affiliated,” with owner Chris Rios saying he was ousted and is working toward a full buyout. Barrett’s owner Travis Kizer said the concept is moving forward and growing, that non-vegan dishes were added to expand the customer base and give chef Octavio Granados room to experiment, and that the vegan portions of the menu remain important with no cross-contamination in the kitchen. The team apologized for any confusion, emphasized a commitment to offering “bomb ass” vegan food, and cited a desire to ensure a healthy, sustainable work environment that provides a livable income; Double Trouble now serves non-vegan and vegan breakfast tacos and other dishes." - Nadia Chaudhury
"Fans of Barrett’s Coffee and The Vegan Nom can now get the best of both worlds at Double Trouble, an all-day bar, restaurant, and coffee shop in North Loop. By day, come here for coffee and vegan tacos, or show up in the evenings for beers, frozen cocktails, and more vegan tacos. There’s also a pretty massive patio. photo credit: Greg Burton" - Nicolai McCrary

"This Midtown bar closed for a few days so staff could get tested after operating with limited staff and an abbreviated schedule since May 2021; having been shuttered for nearly 15 months during the pandemic’s first wave, the venue planned to reopen on Wednesday, December 22 following the brief pause." - Brittanie Shey
