Dough Box Review - East LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"A to-go-only El Sereno spot, Dough Box is going to be a place you’re very happy you discovered (we’ll even let you take the credit). They serve Chicago-style deep-dish pies that are going to blow your mind - the dough is bread-y, chewy, and delicious, and the surprisingly light cheese complements it very well. The classic Soto is great, but if you’re feeling really bold, get the Broadway - perfectly proportioned amounts of olives, onions, sausage, and cherry peppers on top of a thick layer of cheese." - Brant Cox

Where To Get Pizza Delivery In LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"A to-go-only El Sereno spot operating out of an industrial park, Dough Box is going to be a place you’re very happy you discovered (we’ll even let you take the credit). They serve Chicago-style deep-dish pies that are going to blow your mind - the dough is bread-y, chewy, and delicious, and the surprisingly light cheese complements it very well. The classic Soto is great, but if you’re feeling really bold, get the Broadway - perfectly proportioned amounts of olives, onions, sausage, and cherry peppers on top of a thick layer of cheese. LA Favorite Dough Box Saved By Deep Dish-Loving New Owner - Eater LA

"Here’s a bit of good news in a sea of recent restaurant closures around Los Angeles: Dough Box, the Eastside deep dish pizza spot in El Sereno, is reopening, and it’s all thanks to one very enthusiastic fan of the restaurant. New owner Andy Mueller is set to reopen Dough Box to the public next Thursday evening, having taken the reins from former owner Alex Gonzalez late last year. Gonzalez saw the growth of Dough Box from an upstart deep dish destination operating out of a semi-private kitchen space in East LA to its standalone space in El Sereno back in 2017. At the time, Gonzalez and her team were trading on the media success and fan accolades from their first cloud kitchen to turn this sleepy stretch of Eastern Avenue into a destination for slices and Chicago-style pizzas. But after years of making a go of it, she closed up shop in late 2019 to go back to school. A shaky lease agreement at their building and the usual burdens of growing a small business had caught up with her and, as she told Eater, it was time to move on." - Farley Elliott

LA Deep Dish Pizza Specialist Dough Box to Close By End of Year - Eater LA

"Sad news for Eastside pizza fans: Dough Box is set to close at the end of this year. The popular pizza shop has been doing deep dish pies since 2016, first under a delivery-only cloud kitchen model, and then as a standalone restaurant tucked along a residential strip of sleepy El Sereno." - Farley Elliott

Picked up the Sicilian Pepperoni..dough was dense and gummy. Had a strong, yeasty smell & flavor, pretty off putting. Ratio of tomato sauce to dough thickness was off- mostly dough, barely any sauce. 4 slices of this is $31.76, yikes. I don’t like wasting food…but this went to the bin after trying to eat one slice. The smell of yeast is too strong!! The store was very dreary inside. Won’t be trying a second time.

First time trying this place and I love deep dish in general. Been to some excellent places in Chicago and elsewhere. Doughbox is good but doesn’t beat any of those places I’ve tried. Keep in mind I prefer no corn meal in my crust and this tastes like it has it. I feel the pizza course deeper or thicker. The marinara sauce is good and not overpowering. I wish the crust was more flaky and buttery. The crust here is thick and crunchy.

Google
OMG I love this place. Staff was super friendly, space is clean. The sauce was sweet, the crust held up and the price was very fair for what I got. I picked it up and took it home - 30 mins after pickup the crust still held up well. My favorite deep dish in LA.

Google
Absolutely phenomenal Chicago style pizza, and sides! Rich, buttery, classic flaky cornmeal crust beneath a warm heavenly bed of rich cheese and freshly made tomato sauce. The pies are PACK the flavor, yet are well balanced! Not too much crust, or sauce... trust me it's high quality from the pizza to incredibly comforting house lasagna! So many pizza flavors, but honestly my tips would be MUST TRY: sausages (well cooked, seasoned, perfect spice, but not overly salted) and the pepperoni pies are coated with thicc sliced pepperonis. Moreso, how many pizza spots do you know of make DONUTS too?! Not just one flavor but an assortment of cookies n cream, churro, chocolate sprinkle, and more! Let's not forget about the cookies too... All around they do a few things, but they do it damn right! Awesome, chill staff, and very creative. Thin pizzas and Sicilian slices also available! Post mates this spot for daaaays! Lol trust me...you will end up doing it more than thrice! enjoy!

Google
The wait was about 40 minutes for a walk-in. Decent price! Good crust, sauce and a very generous layer of cheese at the bottom. Never tried deep-dish pizza before, but this left a good impression

Google
Finally got to try this place and it didn't disappoint! I ordered the York and added basil and cherry peppers to it, got the large deep dish because of course you want to have leftovers! Initially we were going to wait until we got home to try it but it was just two irresistible so we each had a slice in the car in front of the shop! The tomato sauce was divine and there's just enough cheese to give you the poll but not make you feel super heavy afterwards! The crust is truly the best, stayed dry and crispy, not soggy at all! Excited for the leftovers tomorrow if we don't finish it all tonight!

Google
I’ve had this place on my list for a while and decided now is the time to try it. I was not disappointed. The Dough is amazingly good and the toppings are top notch quality. I’ve had pan pizzas from Dough Box twice in one week now. There side salads are good too. The deep dish Chicago style pizza is insane here! Best in LA. I’ve tried it in Chi town and was in love with it and Dough Box LA deep dish is outta here amazing! They also have thin crust pizza for people who like that. The decor and designs are really cool and hip. Staff are friendly as hell too. Highly recommended to become your go to pizza place! It is my go to place now! Drove from Burbank yesterday for a taste of that magic!

Google
The York and the Soto were delicious. The pepperoni and sausage on the York yummy. The churro donut I'll pass next time but the pizza is delicious.

Yelp
Loved them putting El Sereno on the map when they opened on N. Eastern Avenue & started making some of the best deepdish pizza on Earth. Followed them when they relocated to Highland Park on Figueroa Street after getting addicted to their scrumptious cornbread-like crust. Drown my pepperoni in delectable red sauce & bury the cheese, please! They have me eating pizza 3X a month. I'll be back in ten days, right after my workouts make room for more exquisitely hearty slices of deepdish delight

Yelp
Great Chicago pizza - you may be out of place when you want in this daytime bakery for Chicago Pizza but it's great! The location can be a pain to get to but you can park in the bank lot .
google avatar

Lizzie R.

Yelp
I honestly thought the pizza slices we ordered were just okay. I understand that everyone is trying to hype it up, so I jumped on the wagon too. Once I tried it out, I felt the sauce was a bit much for the slices we got. When we tried to reheat the pizza, the flavors were there, but it didn't heat up the way most pizzas do. The sauce didn't feel as if it was thick enough as the toppings slid right off. I mean, the girl at the counter was nice so I'll give them props for service and availability. They are located inside of a bakery, so that's cool because of them being able to prepare fresh pizza. But you do have to order ahead of time and specify a pick up time so you know your order will be ready for pick up.
google avatar

Sean B.

Yelp
I don't understand Doughbox. There seems to be some hype around it, but why? First of all this place has always made it incredibly hard for people to actually order a pizza. When they first opened you had to call in by a certain time or no pizza. Last night when I tried to order on their website at 6pm, it said they're no longer accepting orders until the following day, yet we were able to order it on GrubHub. Like what? Why make your customers work so hard? Now the pizza (deep dish). Sparse toppings, overly acidic pizza sauce, not much cheese, and a crust so hard it scrapes your mouth. We also got a pretty sad arugula salad that had tough yellowed arugula, a couple of parmesan shavings, and a little teeny tiny side of vinaigrette. I'd rather drive to Masa or Echo Park where I can get a bigger pizza that tastes amazing for cheaper (plus no hassle making an order)!
google avatar

Jarenn N.

Yelp
I really like the pizza from dough box. Make sure you plan to order ahead of time. Free street parking in the nearby area or very cheap public parking lots
google avatar

Yelp
I've not tried deep dish pizza from Chicago but this was probably the closest thing I could get. Ordering online was a breeze and you can also choose a pick up time. The restaurant wasn't really set up for dine-in customers at the time I went but my pizza was ready when I arrived. I ordered "The Hill" which contains mozzarella, ricotta cheese, garlic, spinach, house-made Italian sausage and I also added some basil on top. To reiterate, this was my first time trying a deep dish pizza and the experience was..different. The marina sauce was good and all the ingredients worked together but it was like a pie or it felt like eating a pizza with a really thick crust. I will have to try pizza from Chicago in order to make a more proper comparison. I'd still recommend Doughbox if you've not tried it.

Yelp
The cravings for some Chicago deep dish hit me real hard. I was originally going to go to Masa of Echo Park but as many could relate, going somewhere only 5 minutes away from home is too good to pass up! I am a big fan of saucy pizza and always asking for a side of Marinara. The 9 inch pizza was just enough for 2 people or 3 people with smaller appetites. We ended up getting The Main which had Ricotta Cheese and sausage. The proportions are all right and nothing is too overwhelming. I can't wait for the store to come back! The pick up is in Delicias Bakery. The parking could be a bit tough - it is a mix of street parking and little parking lots behind some of the buildings. This location is only carryout at the moment. I would highly recommend to cal the store to pre-order or order online since Deep Dish Pizza can take a while to make.

Yelp
We at the Doughbox getting my Deep Dish fix on Grubhub while I watch the GOAT MESSI on Apple TV... it's just $39 for the rest of the MLS season ... and the last three games Messi has played in have been absolutely unreal.... If you're not watching this athlete play soccer in the US soil for the first time in history... the Goat... the Messiah... bring his mastery of soccer to us Americans and Argentinean expats...and you're not watching? You're missing out on a piece of history...not just soccer history.,. American history... Recommended beverage is Pacifico Iced Cold Cans... for this tasty and unbelievable Deep Dish being flung from the Mexican Bakery right next door to Kindness and Mischief Coffee on Figueroa and 5? Street... right under the Lodge... This is their temp location while they get situated somewhere in El Sereno soon...on Huntington It's a great time to be above ground! And Deep Divin into some Chicago style dough... California is a magical place Highland Park Ca We're bringing the last stop of Route 66 to US!!! And Messi is bringing a 4-2 comeback to tie the game 4-4 with his team at Inter Miami and win after penalties with 3 awesome goals in the game... Three wins in a row in league cup since his debut... And going on ....with his eyes on the Cup Game was unreal Doughbox was unreal Life is magical What more could you want?!

Yelp
Delicious pizza! I hope they stay in HP --- read that they are building a kitchen in El Serrano. Perfect crust, fresh ingedients, can't go wrong here.

Rob M.

Yelp
A good effort was made to make a Chicago style deep dish pizza. The online ordering is simple and easy. The only drawback is that unless you know exactly where the popup location is (FYI make sure you have the address number!) you're going to be walking up and down a block on Figueroa wondering just where to get your pie. There's nothing in terms of a sign outside on the sidewalk or in a window or even a banner. The pickup location is inside a dark store that looks nothing like a pizza place.

Yelp
Great pizza! We wanted something to satisfy our Chicago deep dish craving, and this was the closest thing to it for us in LA. Their temporary location is in a bakery on the address listed. The girl who helped us out told us they will be opening soon at a new location on Huntington drive in El Sereno. The sauce to cheese ratio was excellent. Mushrooms were such a good add on to this pizza. Definitely will visit again once they reopen!

Yelp
This Chicago style deep dish pie place has been in my bookmarks for a long time now and I finally got to try it! We pre-ordered The Alameda pie through their website and chose a time slot to pick it up. When I arrived at the store, it was perfect timing because they had it completed on time (no issues with waiting). The Alameda deep dish has a nice thick layer of mozzarella topped with ricotta cheese, spinach, and garlic. The crust at the end was crunchy, but not hard and the crust underneath was on the doughier side. There was a good ratio between the tartness from the tomato sauce and dough. It was so filling and delicious! Overall, I will continue coming back to try their other deep dish pies!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been going to Doughbox since the original location. Their pizza is very filling and the toppings inside are generous. Their pizza is very tasty including the crust. I only wish that the bottom part of the crust was a tad bit more cooked. Easy fix is to stick in the air fryer for a few minutes. It's just a texture thing for me and I think it's probably because of all the delicious toppings and cheese that's inside. Love this place and I will continue coming!
google avatar

Mister D.

Yelp
One of the best pies in LA. I'm not always in the mood for deep dish, but when I am, this is the place to go to. So glad they're in Highland Park now. Would love to see this expand into a brick and mortar in the neighborhood, but for now, I'll enjoy picking up a pie and eating at home, alone, with all the lights off.
google avatar

Larry K.

Yelp
If I could give The Doughbox Pizza more stars, I'd need a galaxy-sized rating system! This place is a pizza paradise in Highland Park, and let me tell you, their deep dish pizza is out-of-this-world phenomenal! I ordered their deep dish pizza expecting greatness, but what I got was a cheesy masterpiece that could probably solve world hunger (or at least hunger in Highland Park). The crust was so thick and fluffy, it's like they found the perfect balance between a mattress and a cloud. Each bite was like a comforting hug from a cheesy deity. I have to hand it to The Doughbox Pizza - they didn't skimp on the toppings. It was like they were playing a game of "how many delicious ingredients can we pile onto this pizza without it toppling over?" Spoiler alert: they won. And the cheese? Oh boy, don't even get me started on the cheese. It was stretchier than a yoga instructor. I think I pulled a muscle trying to get that perfect cheese-pull Instagram shot. Totally worth it, though. The staff? Hilariously awesome. It's like they know they're making pizza dreams come true, so they're walking around with an extra bounce in their step and a twinkle in their eye. I'm pretty sure one of them told me a joke that made me laugh so hard I almost dropped my slice. Pizza and stand-up comedy? Count me in! So, if you're in Highland Park and you're craving pizza that's not only delicious but also capable of turning your frown upside down (literally, because deep dish is thick), head over to The Doughbox Pizza. They've got the secret recipe for happiness, and it involves a whole lot of dough, cheese, and a side of laughter.

Yelp
I ordered the 6" personal size York and it was a very small meal / large snack lol. Definitely order the larger size if you're really hungry / sharing with someone. I liked how crunchy the crust was, and the sauce, meats and cheese were tasty, but they kind of all blended together for me. The crust had a weird aftertaste to me too...almost like...banana? Lol idk why! This was better than some other deep dish I tried and hit the spot in the moment, but I probably need to keep searching for my go-to deep dish spot.
google avatar

Charles K.

Yelp
Amazing Chicago Style Deep Dish. Hole-in-the-wall for sure. Won't find many like it in LA. Typically need to order ahead, and can get busy. Quality is worth everything. Always hit the spot. Highly recommend all the deep-dish.
google avatar

Kapri H.

Yelp
I have to say this is my least favorite pizza joint I've come across in a while. Definitely my least favorite in Highland Park. I had the highest of hopes for this pizza and was incredibly excited to have it, but it just tasted like beer. The bread wasn't cooked properly or something because all I could taste was beer and it even smelled like beer. I'm a beer fan, but I don't want my pizza to taste like beer. Not cool. Especially when I'm only getting 4 slices for $27. On top of that, it took 35 minutes to make this beer flavored pizza. With Triple Beam and Pizza Bagel outdoing this place so badly, I can't say I'll be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Holy Hell!! As a pizza snob how did I miss this place? Found it in my DD delivery app and cross checked with my Yelp! Reviews and had to give it a go. Came to my doorstep and had ordered 2 Pies - the Grand ( Sausage and some vegetables) and The Spring ( Vegetables - bell pepper, red onions, and olives)...Overall, really good pizza pies - well cooked crust with a good balance of crispiness and slight tartness....vegetables were fresh and good in the Spring and the Marinara sauce was straight legit! Instantly rocketed up my Pizza ratings. Looking forward to going back and eating right out of the oven. Well worth a try!

Yelp
Best deep dish pizza I've ever had. Amazing crust, taste, sauce, and toppings I've had in a Chicago style pizza. Highly recommend this place, and no other place compares to doughbox. I order at least twice month from here. Must try.

Yelp
Doughbox pizza is known for their deep dish pizzas. I have been trying to come here for a few months, and I can say they do not disappoint. My girlfriend and I got the 12" "The Alameda, " which comes with Mozzarella, Ricotta Cheese, Fresh Spinach, and Garlic. Food: I the Alameda Deep Dish a 4.2/5. The undercarriage was doughey, but the cruat was well charred and crispy, which paired well with the tangy sauce. I also had ate the pizza cold as a late night snack and was very oleasently surprised at how well the flavor held up. I almost liked it more than if it was hot! I definitely recommend this spot if you are having pizza cravings. Just keep in mind that it is extremely heavy as it is a deep dish pizza. Parking: I give parking a 3.3/5. There are many other restaurants and businesses nearby, so parking can be limited. You are mainly limited to street parking near the store or pay metered parking lots about a 5-10 minute walk away. Location: I give the ambiance/location a 4.7/5! The store is located in a very trendy area of Highland Park near a steam punk bowling alley, lots of bars, thrift stores, and other restaurants. I would highly reccomened Doughbox as a solid dinner spot before a date night or hang out with friends.

Yelp
I tried Doughbox pizza at a work party and it was DELICIOUS. We had over 6 pizzas to try which was such a treat. If you like a little bit of heat like myself, I would recommend The Manny. Their vegetarian pizzas were also great. I was able to take some home for my hubby (who's a big deep dish pizza fan) and he loved The Alameda. Definitely would recommend to anyone craving some deep dish pizza!

Yelp
Just when I was just starting to live my post-vaxed best life, Omicron f's it all up. See you later, indoor dining and crowded outdoor spaces. We back to takeout, my friends, and I'm not 100% sad about it. Why? Dough Box is here to cure all of my Omicron blues. I thought I've had all the best pizza in LA, but Dough Box pizza is like SERIOUS next level! Break that ketosis b and forget your low-carb diet because the dough is so good here, you cannot throw away the crust. Crispy yet perfectly soft and chewy. They offer Chicago deep dish and NY pan style - best of both worlds. Both are amazing, but I prefer the thinner pan style. The sauce-toppings-cheese ratio is perfection. The deep dish is also fire and (dare I say it?) it's better than Masa of Echo Park (there, I said it)! If you like spice like me, you'll love the Figueroa (mozzarella, pepperoni, red Onion, cherry Peppers) and Forest (mozzarella, ricotta, garlic, red onion, cherry peppers). Insider Tips: +If you're ordering deep dish, know that it takes 45 minutes to an hour to prepare so plan accordingly! +They also have a warning on their website that they sell out of their deep dish every night so put your orders in early. + You can place your order in advance using their online ordering system. They allow you to schedule ahead of time so you can order in the morning of your desired pick up day. They cut off this ordering system at 4pm on Wed-Sat and 3pm on Sunday. If you miss the online window, don't worry! Phone orders are accepted. More food recommendations on my blog www.losangelysse.com :)

Yelp
Doughbox has been on regular rotation for our family since they moved to the Highland Park location. While we love a lot of the offerings, we usually default to The Hill pizza. It's ridiculously good with the sausage, ricotta, spinach and garlic. While the pizzas may look small, trust me they're not. As soon as they hand you the box, you feel the weight of the deep dish pie that'll make your car smell amazing on the drive home. Sergio, who seemingly runs the shop, is incredible. Nicest guy ever. My son who works at another great local pizza shop and chastises me every time I go anywhere but his place, always makes an exception for Doughbox. It's that good.

Yelp
Best pizza in Los Angeles in this deep dish pizza is amazingly well done and the crust is delicious Not as heavy as the traditional full on cheese Chicago style !! You must try this pizza !!!

Yelp
The best pizza in all of Los Angeles. Fresh and delicious each and everytime. Can't recommend this place enough, fresh ingredients and always consistent. I recommend the Soto

Yelp
I was a big fan of the original location off Eastern in El Sereno. And I was stoked to see that they're open again albeit at a different location. We ordered 5 pizzas because we had a big group and we were hungry! we got the York, The griffin, the grand , the Main, and a sicillian pepperoni. Something in their formula has surely changed because it was incredibly difficult to tell the first 4 pizzas apart in flavor. They were all super similar, similiar enough that we probably coudlve' just ordered 4 of the sotos and probably woudln't have been able to tell the difference between them if we were weren't paying attention. Also the pies have shrunk, they used to be much deeper thicker substantial slices of pizza they were hefty. the current pie just seems wimpy in comparison to their old pie. I still really enjoy the crust of the pizza, but the topping game and the thiccccness of the slices has changed. The sicilian pizza was good, but it is also a tiny pizza pie. For about $30 a pie for the 9" deep dish pizzas i was expecting a bit more bang for my buck. it's still good, but I'd probably limit myself to ordering 1 or 2 pizzas next time instead of 5 pizzas because, they were just too similar to each other.

Yelp
WOW. I have had deep dishes but this one is so good and not super greasy. We order the Hill (spinach, garlic, ricotta and housemade sausage) and the Boyle (pepperoni and mozzarella) The crust and bread the filling everything was amazing. I enjoyed it very much and it didn't fall apart when serving the pizza pie. Ordering was easy but it took about 1 hour before pick up so don't call them if your starving. Remember to look for a building that looks like a car garage, all white and you are at your destination!

Tatyana B.

Yelp
Extremely disappointed with my experience at the pizzeria. Despite placing an online order for a supposedly empty pizzeria, my order was not ready upon arrival. It consisted of only two items, yet I had to wait an additional 25 minutes in the restaurant. Unacceptable service.
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
My partner had never had any kind of deep dish pizza and he really wanted to try some so I said, ok we gotta get Doughbox. They are currently in the process of moving locations but we were fortunate enough to catch them right before they closed doors on their current location. We opted for the Forest (garlic, ricotta, onions, cherry peppers) and we made it Kirk Style (added pepperoni on top). Since it was just going to be for us two, we got the 9" and it was plenty with some leftover. I love that you can taste the freshness of the tomato and sauce. The crust was soft but with enough crunch to hold everything. It wasn't spicy from the peppers but I guess that just depends on your individual tolerance for spicy. The garlic also came through just the perfect amount. And the pepperoni on top was that good kind of pepperoni crunchy. Dudes, everything was delicious together. Overall: good pizza. Just writing this makes me want more. Keep an eye out for their new location announcement.

Yelp
Deep Dish Heaven! I've had about 5 different Chicago Deep-dish pizzas from Pasadena to Long Beach and Doughbox is my favorite. The dough has a really good flavor, its not like normal pizza dough so if you're that type of person....still try it. You might just like it. Cheese and Toppings are well served. Its not a convenient place for me but most good things are often a drive away. Shoutout to the grind of the workers. I'll keep coming back. Look for the Dough Box sign next to the bus station.
google avatar

Daniel B.

Yelp
Pro-Tip: This place has switched location; now in hipster-central Highland Park, you're not at the wrong place, Doughbox is located in the bakery with the unmarked name/very hard to find name. Allow 45 minutes to make regardless of size. So while it looks to be unassuming, to the country, Doughbox is among the very few Chicago-style L.A. elites. Different location, but the Broadway pizza is a good representation of Chicago style 'deep-dish' pizza, with a signature spicy Los Angeles taste -- the red, cherry-peppers.

Yelp
Super stoked Doughbox popped up just a few blocks from my home in HLP. (Please don't leave when you reopen in El Sereno!) I had no problems with the online ordering system on their website. Ordered on a Sunday morning for pickup when they opened at 5pm. The pop-up location is a bit hard to find. They operate out of Delicias Bakery (which also doesn't have its own signage from what I recall) on Figueroa, just around the corner from the Lodge Room. The ingredients tasted super fresh and delicious. I love a saucy pie. The only thing that threw me off is the crust, which stays soft under the toppings, but hard on the edges, almost like a dense pie crust. It was different but I still really enjoyed it. Can't wait to try more!

Yelp
It delicious. Nice people, solid menu. My favorite is The Forest deep dish. It's perfect! The Sicilian is legit too. I still haven't tried the pan but will. It's sturdier that masa deep dish (which I also enjoy) so easier to pickup if you like. Don't hesitate GO! ....:.you're welcome.

Yelp
Incredible deep-dish pizza at an affordable price. Unexpectedly, the buttery dough holds up well against sogginess. The toppings work well. The cheese has a nice stringiness that gives it a pull. Obviously, the proper way to prepare this deep dish is to drizzle the sauce over everything. The sauce has very little acidity and is quite fruity and light. personnel that is friendly. Takes around the same amount of time as a deep dish pizza. The parking is the only issue, but there isn't much one can do about it.

Yelp
Chicago Style Deep Dish is definitely one of the best pizzas I've had and they are always on time with their orders. If you're willing to wait a bit till you get your pizza it's definitely worth it. Specifically the Griffin is amazing and the Main if you're looking for something with traditional toppings. Service is always nice and have no problems with them whatsoever. It's a cool touch considering that in the morning it's a bakery and later in the evening it turns into a pizza place. I would definitely recommend coming here.

Yelp
I crave for a box of pizza almost every week or at least 3 times a month. It depends. This was my first time at Dough Box Pizza. I would say that the price is just a little too much because I paid about $38 for this kind of pizza. While other pizza places are like less than $30 which is worth my budget. What I can say about this order is that, it is a deep dish pizza, cheesy, crust is a little hard (not soft) but still good. The only thing is the price, it was just a little too much just for a deep dish pizza. But overall, the staff were nice, the pizza was delicious and I would recommend this place to my friends and family. I would come back, but like at least 3-4 times a year. Thank you Dough Pizza!!!

Yelp
Amazing pizza. When treating myself- this is a must. Order ahead to avoid the wait- but it's worth it

Yelp
I wish doughbox had later hours, because who doesn't like late night pizza? Doughbox's deep dish crust has good structure and you might be able to pick it up and eat it like a normal slice if you're careful. What do you need to know? It tastes good

Yelp
My blood just boils writing this post. First off, no sign whatsoever outside indicating where the business is located. Had to walk around for several minutes before I found it. In regards to the pizzas, The Hill deep dish was good. Nothing special but it was our first time trying Chicago style pizza so nothing to compare to really. The one star is for The Boyle pan pizza. It looks good on picture but was the complete opposite when taking a bite out of it. It was legit 80% dough 2 inches thick with barely any sauce on it whatsoever. There was also 0 flavor and no taste. Very bland for how the pizza looks. If a pizza costs $27, then I expect God tier quality pizza. $65 for two pizzas is no joke. If you are charging such exorbitant prices for pizza, you need to up the quality on that pan pizza. I will not come back to this establishment ever again and won't recommend this place to anyone!

Yelp
Someone recommended me this spot after she saw my post about Masa (another deep dish spot). When searching for this place..just know it's not very visible to the eye. They are actually located inside the Delicias Bakery, well they actually share the same space. Next to the coffee shop. They don't have any visible sign..yet? I called in advance because I saw that it could take up to 45mins - 1hr of wait time. Browsed the neighborhood for a bit. I'm rating this place four stars because of the crust. Everything else was delicious! We ordered The Hill and added pepperoni. We got the 9inch pizza, six slices. I thought it wasn't going to be enough for my boyfriend and I but it was just the right amount! Definitely would go the next size up if we want leftovers. Were we still hungry after eating three slices each? A little bit lol Would I get it again? I would. Yes.

Yelp
This is deep dish pizza done right. I've been searching for a good place for a while. The crust is out of this world. It's the perfect texture and not over done. Doughbox earned a fan! I've had some bad deepdish pizza in LA. Now I know where to get my pizza.

Yelp
Whatever hardship you will endure to order pizza from here it's worth it. We spent like 2 weeks trying to order and either we couldn't get through or they had sold out on online orders. The trick is to order in advance. I know that's counterintuitive when it comes to pizza, but believe me it's not an issue for amazing pizza! We had the Forest pan and the Boyle pan. I haven't had any pan pizza since we stopped going to Pizza Hut many eons ago. It's a nice break from thin crust. The crust, oh so delicious, almost tastes like it's cornmeal crust. It's crumbly and not doughy. The forest had quite a bite, but the ricotta offsets any spiciness well. My new favorite pizza place, yey!

Yelp
Pretty tasty. I'd been flirting w the idea of eating here for a while. They sent the email Wednesday for the Sicilian which is only a wed/Thur thing. I had dinner plans Thursday and wasn't in the greatest mood and decided to treat myself like a pet and reward w food. Cheese Sicilian me pls. So, I did this whilst at work and wasn't totally paying attention but I just replied to the email about the pizza, with my order. Hours go by and I realized I hadn't heard anything. I asked a couple coworkers and they hadn't even heard of DB so nvm. I thought I'd get some kind of email. I saw they opened at 5, but I called around 4:45, found out I should've sent my order request to orders@doughboxla.com. Whoops. Thankfully they were able to still get my order made within the time requested. Interesting ride over. Saw a lot of areas I'd never experienced. I will say when I got to Huntington, I knew exactly where I was but up until then it was all new. I got there a couple minutes before my pizza was to be ready. It was $20 in the email but she told me $19.xx. No argument here, but ofc ya gotta tip!!! She told me it'd be a couple mins before it was done. It was a gloomy day but it gave me time to snap a couple shots. Foods in the car, and even with mask I can smell basil and deliciousness! So I always have to try things (especially first time) hot. It was tasty. But v reminiscent of Dtowns 1946. Still delicious. By the time I get home I can't stand the smell of it tho! My friend asked if it smelled like feet and to keep it 100, it did. Changes nothing about how I feel about the pizza tho. I did notice as it cooled, the cheese layer was easy to separate from the crust. It's extremely rich in bread. When it was hot, it was delicious, cool, def not as attached to the bread and ultimately toss it. This is where I take the star off. Dtowns dough is sourdough or something tasting like it, and it made the difference in me eating the extra bread. The cheese, the sauce, it's cooked perfectly. Ultimately v good pizza. I wanna try one with sausage and pesto. I'm thrilled they could accommodate me, they're good at what they do and I'd happily go back.

Yelp
Oh my goodness! I cannot stop thinking about this pizza. It's one of the best I've ever had. Normally, I am not a deep dish pizza lover. I find most places use too much bland doughy crust, but not Doughbox. The crust is AMAZING! The bottom and edges are cooked to crispy perfection and the flavor puts it over the top. You know when you get to the last few bites, when the cheese and toppings are gone and you're left with a bland piece of crust? That piece is like a treat at the end of the Doughbox slice. It tastes like a yummy crusty biscuit. The toppings are quality with delicious not too greasy housemade sausage, tasty tomato sauce and fresh veggies. I'm so happy they opened a pop up in my neighborhood, Highland Park, while moving their El Sereno location or I never would have tried it. I'm so happy I did!

Yelp
Got the Boyle. Was pretty good. While you wait for your pizza (or after), bowl or billiards one block over on the same street.

Yelp
This was my first time trying deep dish pizza and I am a fan! I didn't think I would like deep dish pizza because I don't like bread-y pizza. I am a thin crust girl but having deep dish is totally different. I ordered the night before via email and instantly got a automated message saying that they would confirm my order the day of. I didn't get a confirmation email yet so I sent another email around noon (day I wanted to pick up) and didn't get a reply til like 230 pm. I guess that's when they start checking emails for preorders. I was having some anxiety and started to think of back up plans for dinner in case this place fell through but I'm glad it all worked out and that I was able to try this place. I got the 12 inch hill and it was about $31 with tax. It was able to feed my small family of 4 people fine. However, if you have big eaters you'll probably need another pizza. The crust was buttery and crunchy and you can taste the quality of ingredients in each bite. I really liked the Italian sausage and I feel like it could use more of it. I guess next time I'll have to order some extra to be put on. Cheese was great and I loved the spinach and ricotta cheese. That tomato sauce wasn't acidic or dry at all. Overall, a very good spot. I'd say the pizza is on the pricier side but I guess that's what a deep dish pizza costs. If you're willing to splurge, give this place a try. There is only street parking available but they have a 15 min zone right out front if you get lucky. Be careful because the cars driving by are going really fast and kinda scary when you're trying to get in and out of your car while carrying the goods!

Yelp
Really good Chicago style pizza !!! Being from Kankakee,Illinois ( thought of as Southern Illinois ( the S is silent, fakers ! )) is just as good as Nancys's and Numero Uno! Visit the Chi or the Chicago area and try it there then come back to LA and get a pie! You won't feel like you left the great food behind when you go to Dough Box! NOW IF WE COULD ONLY IMPORT MORE GOOD CHICAGO PEOPLE HERE, Los Angeles would be Full of REAL people! Thank you Dough box to So Cal!!! I wish I knew about you guys when you were in El Sereno!!! EXCEPTIONALLY Great PIZZA !!!

Yelp
Dough Box was one of those locations I had bookmarked for the longest time and I was finally able to visit. It was surprising knowing that there's this hidden gem hole in the wall out in El Sereno area serving up deep dish pizza. I've driven by the school across the street a couple of times for work so I was familiar with the area. I clearly never really noticed the store before but I knew exactly where it was. They recommend that you place an order via email and they have instructions whether or not your order was placed and received. It sounds like things can be a little less guaranteed if you do place orders on the same day but they do recommend that you place your order prior to 4 o'clock. There's only so many pizzas they can make a day so the best thing is to make sure you read the website and are aware of what their protocol is during that time. I drove out there with my sister to pick up our pizza. I would have assumed street park was going to be challenging to find but we were lucky enough to find a spot right outside. The process was very easy and our food was ready to go when we got there. The pizza was really good and I can't wait to try some of the other toppings and combinations they have. This first time we ordered the Hill and it was great.
