Denver’s Best Pizza Restaurants | Eater Denver

"“Feed Your Face,” reads the sign on the back wall of this University Hills counter joint from the owners of Marco’s Coal Fired (see above), and that’s an order: One slice of its airy-on-the-inside, crunchy-on-the-outside Sicilian-style pan pies — be it the Big Mac with ground beef, cheddar, onion, shredded lettuce, and secret sauce or the Triple Threat with marinara, vodka sauce, and pesto — is a meal in itself. On the “lighter” side are New York–style pies like the Loaded Baked Potato with bacon, cheddar, jalapeño crema, scallions, and — get this — French fries." - Paul Albani-Burgio

The inside is nice, but we loved the patio seating since it was pretty cold inside. The staff made our experience amazing with how welcoming they were. The gluten free cheese bread and gluten free Sicilian pizza were delicious. Both are very crispy with the perfect amount of fluffiness inside. The peanut butter brownie was the icing on top for me loving this restaurant. I highly recommend coming here if you are gluten free, but you must be open to trying a non traditional type of pizza since the texture of the Sicilian and gf cheese bread is different. We will definitely be back for more!

Google
I got the gluten free pizza and it was wonderful! It is rare you can get deep dish gf pizza so I was very excited and loved the ratio of cheese, crust, and sauce. My brother got the chicken tenders and a few sauces too which I loved that I could try too being gluten free. All amazing! The pizza came out with the allergen label which always is comforting and the service was amazing. They also have gf brownies so I will certainly be back!

Google
Cozy pizzeria with the best Sicilian pies in town! We were blown away by the Triple Threat Sicilian pie. The New York style Dough Counter Supreme was good but didn't quite exactly replicate the mouth feel. Still a delicious pie. Chicken tenders are interesting because it's a rice flour dredge, not as crunchy but GF and still a great vehicle for their delicious dip. Try the Jalapeño crema, it's not that spicy but is great for dipping.

I’ve been wanting to check this place out for a while and I wish it was better. Something tasted like cinnamon and we couldn’t figure out if it was the fries, the ranch, the gluten free dough, or all 3 so we just quit eating. The regular pizza was fine nothing outstanding, salad was good maybe the best part of the meal. Gluten free pizza did have a weird flavor and the dough was very doughy light in toppings and bland sauce. Rare nobody finishes pizza but it was really disappointing. Service was also not great. Bummer bc I was really hoping this was going to be good.

Google
I rarely dish out (no pun intended) 5s but this place is legit. I’m from NY NJ and trust me, it’s one of my top 3-4 pizza spots in Denver now. Top 25 restaurants in 5280 magazine this year so had to try it and yes, it is. PS The Sicilian is more like a Detroit pie but the regular NY pizza passes the flop test with a nice crust. Delicious sauce and ingredients like real deal Italian crumbled sausage.

Google
The hype around this place is no lie, it's amazing! The Sicilian pies are not to be missed: the crusts were perfectly crispy and thick without being too doughy and heavy. We ordered both a pepperoni Sicilian and a plain one. They were both excellent. The simple artistry of the flower of ricotta atop each pepperoni slice and drizzled with hot honey is genius. The savory and sweet, crunchy and chewy (but not *too* chewy)... Inexplicable 👨🏻‍🍳👌🏻 The staff were nice and the delivery of pies to our tables was prompt. The place was clean and had a great retro vibe to it. Don't hesitate to head over to the Dough Counter and order a Sicilian pie!

Pizza was ight, literally nothing special I’ve gotten better NY slices outside the club downtown at 2am or even at the mall lol. Service was great but gawwwdd that horrible 1920s depressed cowboy saloon type music made me want to KMS in just the time I waited for my slices lol

Google
I got the small Hot Honey Pepperoni. It was good. If you like pizza this thick, you should like the crust, it’s a good crunchy on the outside, soft consistency on the inside and taste. Not enough sauce, very small pepperoni and it was spicy. I like to add spicy to a pizza, not have it all in the pepperoni. I was happy the hot honey was not very prevalent, I’m not sure if I tasted it at all. I like the idea of ricotta or cream cheese on a pizza, but this did not hit the mark. I paid $19 for the pizza gave them a $2.85 tip for takeout got home and there was a $.76 service fee. Total was $24.41 with tax. I’m not happy paying a service fee. I won’t be back .

Yelp
*CELIAC / GLUTEN FREE REVIEW holy crust! I haven't had Sicilian pizza since my diagnosis, and this did not disappoint. We got the hot honey pepperoni and the triple threat - both very good!! We also had to try the green chili cheese bread and chicken strips, delicious. The sauces were also yummy:) we got the house buttermilk ranch, strippers' special sauce, and tangy BBQ. The restaurant has EXTENSIVE practices put in place to take care of allergies (they have a whole portion of their website online to talk about GF. The staff were very kind and I did not get sick.

Yelp
Love dough counter. Awesome NY and Sicilian style za by the slice or whole. Incredible dough. Would definitely put it amongst the top pizza spots in denver. Staff are super nice and the restaurant space is cool. They did a great job with the shop. Bug fan of the hot honey pep and the triple threat. Haven't had the big mac or chicken parm but they are next on the wish list. Highly recommend a stop by for some great pizza in Denver away from the madness of downtown.

Yelp
I love this pizza! I'm always searching for great Sicilian style like I grew up on. Now this isn't the pizza from my childhood - it's even better. They not only have Sicilian, they have NY style too, so everyone is happy. Pizza isn't the only thing served here they have - Chicken Strips, Fries, Starters, Salads & even a display case of Desserts. Dough Counter is located in the University Hills Plaza, with plenty of parking. The inside is cute, with a checkerboard floor, booths, tables & pendant lighting. And... stacks & stacks of pizza boxes, that actually add to the ambiance & decor, as well as background music & a big screen TV. There is also outdoor seating & a separate party room. We arrived on a late Sunday afternoon & was surprised to see many of the tables filled as well as the party room. A friendly employee took our order at the counter & gave us a number to place on the table, they bring the food to you. Other than that everything is self service - plates, silverware, fountain drinks/water & seasonings/condiments. The pizzas were wood fired, with deliciously crispy & crunchy crusts. I really enjoyed that there wasn't a ton of sauce too. The NY style came with tomato sauce & mozzarella cheese. This was good but the Sicilian was the star...absolutely wonderful! It's a light pan pizza (5-day rise dough), with spicy cupped pepperoni, nicely balanced with brick cheese & a dollop of ricotta cheese plus a hot honey drizzle on top. Memorable, crave-able & delectable!

Yelp
Really enjoyed this pizza spot! Would definitely recommend to anyone with a Gluten allergy. Took a friend who is extremely cautious re: cross contamination and they were extremely knowledgeable and answered all her questions! Her gluten free pizza was delicious, and our regular pizza was the same! Quick counter service with your typical pizza-shop ambiance. Will definitely come back here!

Yelp
This place was amazing! If you are needing gluten free options this is the place for incredible pizza! You will be surprised with their thick, crispy gluten free dough! Literally obsessed with this place!
google avatar

Yelp
I love the retro diner vibes! Pizza is really great although I prefer the Detroit. They are HUGE! Thicker than blueplan IMO and tastes very similar without the crazy crowd and slow service. New York is thin large and delicious but same price to the Detroit so you're going to get more food for a better price. Detroit dough is surprisingly light fluffy soft yet has the perfect crunch!!! Love all of their sauces too
google avatar

Emma C.

Yelp
I got a small triple threat sicilian style pizza to go. I love how generous they were with the sauce and liked the marinara the most. I feel like the vodka sauce got a bit lost in the other flavors but was still very tasty. The bread was super fluffy and light and I definitely think the size is worth the price. My only complaint was that it was super salty so I was only able to eat a bit at a time.

Yelp
Wow - this is the best pizza I've had while living in Denver! I have had multiple cheese pies from here, along with trying many of their specialty flavors, and everything I have had has been incredible. For the plain cheese pizza, this is easily the closest thing to an authentic New York-style slice I have had in Denver. I also love Sicilian pizza, and this is definitely top notch. I am not one to deviate from a plain pie, but the specialty pies here are amazing - especially the Triple Threat and Chicken Parm. They have amazing gluten-free and celiac safe options which is incredible for pizza. I did try some and it is easily the best gluten free pizza I have ever tried. My only gripe would be the location. There is usually a lot of traffic in the area which can make getting the pizza a 30+ minute ordeal which might not be hot be ideal especially if doing take-out. Definitely recommend trying this spot for pizza. Great options and great taste! Will definitely return.

Yelp
Such a cute and clean store! Was empty around 2 pm on a Saturday. Loved the loaded baked potato pizza we had! So yummy and the crust was still perfect with all the toppings. Wish the fries were crispy but that's my only complaint. We requested bacon on only half of the pizza. They did a great job making sure that the slices were perfect and the half with bacon didn't have any on it! Service was so nice as well! Would definitely return!

Yelp
We came her because I saw an gluten free Instagram influencer (CollegeCeliacKC) did a video on their gluten free Sicilian pizza. The pizza was so good! I haven't had much pizza with a crust thicker (or fluffier than) a cracker since I had to become gluten free, so this was a real treat. It reminded me of deep dish pizza but more crust forward instead of sauce and topping heavy. It's an informal atmosphere but they had cute booths and decor. The staff were helpful and attentive.

Yelp
Dough Counter is the latest and greatest endeavor from the Marco's Coal Fired family. This is a casual take on Sicilian style pizza, NY style pizza, gluten free chicken strips, salads and desserts. It's a home run. I may have been a little too excited when they opened their doors on South Colorado Blvd. in 2023. Marco has been dabbling in the Sicilian style pizza game for some time, running them as special certain nights of the week at Marco's Coal Fired. To see them in the spotlight, as opposed to their award winning Neapolitan style pizza, is fun to see. And to eat! Here are the THREE MUST ORDER DISHES: GREEN CHILI CHEESE BREAD ($14.50) // Ranch Base, Hatch Green Chiles, Mozzarella & Parmesan on Sicilian Crust. With Marinara or Ranch. 15/10 holy hell, where has this been my whole life?! Keep in mind, this is essentially the size of a pizza, but the leftovers are somehow just as amazing. Green chiles, cheese and ranch is the trifecta I never knew I needed. TRIPLE THREAT ($18.00 or $30.50) // Striped with Grandma's Marinara, Vodka Sauce, and Basil Pesto, Brick Cheese. This is the Sicilian-Detroit-Italian American pizza mashup of the century. The sauces alone receive my stamp of approval. The Sicilian crust is so light and airy it's almost hard to believe. Marco has been perfecting this dough recipe for years. We are lucky to have his talents in Denver! NY CHEESE W/ PEPPERONI // ($16 or $21) Cupping Pepperoni, NY Tomato Sauce & Mozzarella. The cupping pepperoni is addictive and unctuous. The undercarriage is just how I like it. The crust is crispy. We can always use more NY style pizza in the Mile High and thankfully Dough Counter did their homework and came to play with their take on it! I've tried other items, and those shouldn't be skipped either. The chicken strips are gluten free, but your taste buds would never know. Absolutely delicious. Plus their homemade sauces to accompany them are awesome. As the neon sign says inside the restaurant, feed your face! Maybe that should be my slogan for 2024? Happy eating, Denver!

Yelp
Walking into Dough Counter Pizza in Denver felt like discovering a hidden gem from my hometown. From the moment I stepped inside, I was enveloped in the welcoming atmosphere reminiscent of a classic neighborhood pizzeria. The cozy ambiance immediately made me feel right at home, and meeting Marco, Samantha, Christy, and Zack, along with the team behind the counter, only added to the sense of warmth and hospitality. Their passion for pizza and dedication to their craft was palpable, and it showed in every aspect of the dining experience. Now, onto the pizza. Each slice was a delicious homage to the iconic flavors of New York City. Whether it was the classic New York cheese or the inventive Loaded Baked Potato, every bite was a reminder of why I fell in love with pizza in the first place. But what truly impressed me was the gluten-free options. Having never experienced anything quite like it before, I was blown away by the gluten-free Sicilian pizza. If you love Detroit-style pizza, the Sicilian is a must-try. Its crispy, caramelized edges and thick, airy crust made every bite a delight. And for those feeling adventurous, I highly recommend trying the Big Mac pizza. It truly captured the essence of a high-quality Big Mac in pizza form--a surprising and delicious twist on a classic favorite. What sets Dough Counter Pizza apart, however, is the care and attention to detail they put into providing a safe and genuine gluten-free experience. The owners and staff understand the importance of keeping everything separate and ensuring that each gluten-free option is prepared with the utmost care. And let's not forget about the dough. The crust had that perfect New York-style crispiness, with just the right amount of chewiness. It was clear that they took the time to perfect their dough recipe, and it paid off in every bite. In conclusion, if you find yourself in Denver craving a taste of New York, look no further than Dough Counter Pizza. Marco, Samantha, Christy, Zack, and the team have created a slice of the Big Apple right here in Colorado, with gluten-free options that are truly unlike anything I've ever had before. I can't wait to come back for more.

Yelp
This place made Sicilian style pizza my new favorite. Fluffy and the perfect amount of crispy edge. The salads were fresh and the chicken strips were tender, well-breaded. Everything went amazing with their house-made sauces (honey mustard and ranch were my fav). The green chili cheese bread was zesty and cheesy. I'll definitely be coming back for more of it. The dining area has plenty of seating, indoors and outdoors. Comfy and casual with a cool neon sign hanging on the wall. Everything was clean and everyone was so nice. I was such a fan I brought an extra pizza home. The Hot Honey Pizza was a hit at home. The hospitality and great service here was lovely. Don't forget to try their desserts! The chocolate cake was awesome.

Yelp
The style is Sicilian pizza which is about 2 inches of delicious dough and different toppings! Was able to try a variety and as a pineapple lover pizza- my favorite was the pineapple pizza with jalapeños, onions and bbq sauce. They use specific cheeses that compliment the toppings as well as having the same type of pizzas all year around in order for you to find your favorite pizza and stick with it! Business is ran by family members, therefore the service is impeccable as they want you to try every time of pizza with Italian imported flour to make the best type of pizzas. The place is clean with an area in the back to sit down and enjoy a slice! Lastly, my favorite part about this establishment is that they have gluten free pizzas which taste very similar to their regular pizzas! They also have a variety of salads and chicken tenders to choose from.

Yelp
I wish I had caught the name of the manager because she was so helpful and knowledgeable! As someone with celiac, I'm pretty careful where I visit and what I eat. Dough Counter has some excellent information on their website regarding our gluten-free precautions, and their food is delightful. I tried the Sicilian pizza on my second visit time and the first time I had the nuggets and fries. I highly recommend! The pizza is fluffy and doughy - if you're looking for the classic flat bread pizza, this is probably not your move. But if you're open to trying something new I would recommend this place!

Yelp
I was in the neighborhood around lunch time and remembered Dough Counter had slice specials from 11a-3pm. You walk,m in and order at the counter then they bring it out to you. Two patios, one facing Colorado then another on the Panera side. I got the simple salad which was enough for two meals and a Sicilian slice, again, enough for two meals. Everything was absolutely spot on and I love supporting local business! Props to whomever is in charge of the playlist, the music is fire!
google avatar

Melanie A.

Yelp
Dough Counter is INCREDIBLE! I don't live in Denver so was very excited to be nearby and get the chance to grab dinner - I'd seen their social media posts about having a ton of gluten free options, with care taken to prevent cross contamination for those with celiac and allergies. The inside of the restaurant is really cute, a mix of retro and modern, and everything seemed very clean. They have a closed patio area and regular indoor seating, and the takeout business was busy the entire time I was there. I ordered the gluten free regular cheese pizza and was absolutely blown away - I've never had pizza that thick and fluffy, even before becoming gluten free! The flavors were amazing, the dough was crunchy but light, and each bite was a treat. I got a tip from their staff to reheat leftovers in the air fryer, which worked great!

Yelp
Get the triple threat Sicilian, get the triple threat Sicilian, get the triple threat Sicilian. This place opening up was borderline fate. For the last few months, I have been seeing posts on social media about pizza with vodka sauce. Now, if you've never had it, it is a very unique and satisfying pizza flavor. I was almost ready to go to NYC for a food trip just because of it. Little did I know all I would have to do was make the trip to Colorado BLVD. Every time I've gone, the pizza has been ready right on schedule. And the staff has been happy and helpful. Special shout out to Brie and Hannah! The interior is warm and inviting. When I dine in there, I'll make sure to get you pictures. The NY-style pizza is excellent as well. Even the salads are packed with flavor. And, of course, it is great cold and reheated. :-)
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
Ambience is clean but stark. There is some beer and wine available, but the choices are meager. We did somewhat like the thick pizza, but we found that one piece was enough to fill us up. There is a mountain of dough, but not so much in the way of cheese or toppings. The Caesar salad was just OK. We did order some chicken strips and one of them was gristly and way undercooked while the other two were good. service: you order at the counter and pay at the counter before you get the food. This same location was previously a burger place and a Middle Eastern place, both of which failed eventually. My guess is it is just a matter of time until this place suffers the same fate.
google avatar

Dave C.

Yelp
Easily some of the best Sicilian style pizza anywhere in Denver from the legendary Marco of Marco's Coal Fired fame. I'm a big fan of Dough Counter. The NY style is good, but the Sicilian is what makes this place stand out. Service is super friendly, and it's comfortable, clean, and bright inside. A great addition to the Denver pizza scene by a pizza family that knows what they're doing.

Yelp
New pizza place on Colorado blvd. Was looking for a replacement after garlic knot closed. This spot will do the trick. Pizza is a 4 star. Got the NY style with cheese. Sauce had a hint of garlic. Chicken strips are a 5 star. My son is gluten free and they were a big hit. Ceasar salad is a nice size (grab a second dressing) We ordered delivery, which got fulfilled by door dash. Food was a little cold, but that's on the delivery service. Not them. My only upgrade would be the website - you can't order 1/2 toppings on pizzas. Seems like an easy fix.

Yelp
I was sad to miss an Elite pizza party here last month. So I was glad to get a chance to try it out for lunch last week. The place is very clean, including the all gender restrooms. (See my photo of the cool art in the restroom I used!) Service was friendly and attentive. Mr H. and I shared 3 tenders, which were brought to us piping hot while the pizza was being prepared. I wasn't a fan of the batter until I saw that it was gluten free. Then I was very impressed with the quality. The chicken was moist & fresh and.the Raspberry Sesame Chili sauce unique. Our NY Dough Counter Supreme (requested without green peppers) was hot and loaded. I honestly haven't seen that much meat on a pizza in years, and the Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, and Ground Beef were high quality. The mushrooms were thick and juicy. I appreciate the time they take to prepare their dough. It is so much healthier, as well as delicious. Mr H. enjoyed it, but he said he had expected to be blown away and wasn't. He did promise we would be returning, though, and I look forward to trying the Sicilian. The one at our neighboring table looked so amazing!

Yelp
This place deserves five stars across the board. The employees are all very friendly and knowledgeable. They made sure we had as much space as we needed (we were at a small table and had quite a bit of plates of food between the two of us) and were constantly cleaning the restaurant (cleaning tables once customers left, cleaning out the bin you put your used plates and silverware in, etc). The restaurant is modern and pristine due to the hardworking staff. The food is amazing. Hands-down the best pizza I've ever had, even since having to eat gluten free. I ordered a gluten free cheese pizza and cheese bread, both of which are huge portions (enough to share with one or two people or to have leftovers for another meal). The gluten free pizza is the thickest, fluffiest yet still crispy on the bottom crust, which is rare to find for gluten free pizza anywhere. The sauce is delicious and the ratio of cheese to sauce and crust is perfect. It was so good that I didn't even need to dip it in ranch, which I usually do with pizza (though the ranch is pretty good as it's definitely homemade and very herby compared to most ranches). Overall, I had an amazing experience here and highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good, thick crust pizza, gluten free or otherwise.

Yelp
Amazing!! I ordered a pepperoni and sausage pizza to take home. It's perfect!! I'm actually excited to try it cold in the morning too!
google avatar

Jessica W.

Yelp
Highly impressed by the gluten free dough and how thick it is and high it rises. Although, the toppings taste cheap / poor quality. I hate how runny the ranch is, of good flavor though.

Yelp
2 words... Brick Cheese! IYKYK. This east coast girl's heart and stomach are incredibly happy. I was wisked back to a genuine taste of east coast pizza. I have searched far and wide in Colorado for Silician Pizza. Sweet mystery at last I've found you!!! I'm taken back by the crasftman ship of this dough. 5 days it rises, your silcian grandmother would be proud. Light, fluffy and completely amazing. Crisp and not greasy. I still need a moment when I think of my first bite. Their variety is right out of your dreams. A chicken parm? Big Mac..and yes it's got lettuce and it's amazing!!! They even have a gluten free which is certified!! I immediately texted a few friends after finding this out. Salads galore and bountiful chicken strips! Already planning a trip back for the green chili cheese bread.
google avatar

Yelp
All I can say is OMG.... OMG...... OMG. You had us at brick cheese! The Dough Counter is a family run business with Samantha, Marco, Kristy, and Zack. They have the most incredible assortment of salads, NY style pizza, Sicilian pizza, chicken tenders (gluten free) and fries. Their dough ferments for days, giving it that amazing taste. All of their sauces are made in house. Zach is the genius behind the green chili bread. Honestly, I wanted to push everyone away from that tray so that I could have it all myself. This family owned and run business is truly a labor of love. Nothing is made without intense testing and tasting. They have considered everyone including all of our gluten free friends too. The gluten free dough is fluffy and tasty, Dough Counter has great chicken tenders and all of their dipping sauces are made in house (too many to name). Everyone loves a salad with their pizza (okay I do) and they have several great choices made with fresh ingredients and homemade dressing. These include cobb salad, house salad and mandarin orange salad (yep that throw back original with the crispy ramen noodles). Next a great assortment of both NYC and Sicilian style pies (with brick cheese for all of you east coasters that know what I'm talkin' about). Okay.. no drooling on you screen but here is the list of pies I got to sample. I really could not pick a favorite, but I love the BBQ, Big Mac and the hot honey! NYC Style: BBQ with Bacon, Chicken, Pineapple, Red Onion, Fresh Jalapeno, Mozzarella, Tomato Sauce, Tangy BBQ Supreme with Crumbled Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Ground Beef, Mushrooms, Green Pepper, Onion Pesto veggie with Feta, Mozzarella, Basil Pesto, Mushrooms, Black Olives, Pepperoncini, Green Chiles Loaded potato with Mozzarella, Cheddar, Bacon, French Fries, Scallion & Hot Jalapeño Crema Sicilian Style: Cheese Grandma's with Marinara, Brick Cheese, Oregano Hot honey Pepperoni with Cupping Pepperoni, Ricotta, Grandma's Marinara, Brick Cheese, Hot Honey Drizzle Triple Threat with Striped with Grandma's Marinara, Vodka Sauce, and Basil Pesto, Brick Cheese Big Mac with Ground Beef, Onion, Cheddar, Mozzarella, Shredded Lettuce, Burger-style Sauce (yes.... even better than the real deal). Vodka chicken parm with Chicken Strips, Vodka Sauce, Brick Cheese, Grandma's Marinara, Oregano, Parmesan Now.... I'm sure you are full just reading this.... so, run do not walk to Dough Counter. Order, tell Sam, Marco, Kristy or Zack that you heard it here on Yelp.... support a great family business that loves what they do. Plus, they deliver in a 5 mile radius.

Yelp
Awesome place for pizza and chicken tenders! We first tried out Dough Counter at a yelp event and we knew then that we had to go and try more. Everything is always comes out super hot and super fresh. The chicken the tenders are crispy and juicy and the sauce selection is great. My favorite is definitely their special sauce is almost like a chick fil a sauce, but better! Pizza is hot and cheesy and the service is always spectacular- like really. The staff is amazing.
google avatar

Ashli Q.

Yelp
This place was such a great first stop on our Denver trip. Their gluten free options were amazing and they had so many sauces to pair well with the tenders we had during our lunch! My husband loved his NY style pizza and the cheese is INSANE!!! Look at that pull. He loved it and mentioned it couldn't taste more authentic. The dough on the gluten free pizza was great and airy. Reminds me of a great spot in Fremont back in Vegas. Highly recommend this place and a friendly staff, food came out quick!
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
The GF chicken strips were amazing! The sauces were delicious. The staff was patient and answered all of our questions since it was our first time. Great outdoor patio with window to see baking area where they make the fresh bread. I have recommended this place pretty much everyone I run into.
google avatar

Yelp
Gluten free? Looking for food that doesn't taste like it's gluten free? This is the place. The chicken fingers are incredible. The dough rise on the pizza is exceptional. Get all the sauces.
google avatar

Yelp
We went to Dough Counter yesterday, there second day of business. The gluten-free chicken tenders are incredible! Excellent flaked crisp on the outside, and tender moist meat on the inside. Their hot jalapeño crema sauce is perfection. This is our new chicken tenders spot ... so long chicken establishment off of Evans, helllllo Dough Counter Ps -- Id love a new music playlist for next time

Yelp
First time!! They are related to Marco's Coal Fired pizza located in downtown Denver and in the Denver Tech Center. They offer two types of pizza, Silician deep pan and New York style thin crust + salads and chicken strips. They offer both alcoholic and soft drinks. There was also a cooler with cake and cannoli. I was intrigued by their version of deep pan pizza since most versions are dense and very chewy. Their's was fluffy and a bit chewy. I got the small (4 slice) Hot Honey Pepperoni with marinara sauce & brick cheese drizzled with hot honey. I added Italian sausage and fresh jalapeños. It was garnished with Ricotta flowerettes on top. A large amount of food for only $19. I ate 2 slices and took the rest home. But before the pizza, I got a tossed Caesar salad for $6.50; I got a large bowl with lots of croutons and grated cheese. I ate the whole thing! I washed it down with a can of Fat Tire Ale from New Belgium Brewing. I also got a slice (turned out to be 2 pieces) of frosted yellow cake for $5 for takeout. You order at the counter, they handed me a table sign and brought the food out in short order. I sat inside. Plenty of seating + 2 outside areas. The south side is enclosed with see through plastic windows that can pulled up and a separate west side for warmer days. I learned that when Dough Counter opened last September, Marco's decided to discontinue their deep pan pizza elsewhere. So you can only get it at Dough Counter. They have a separate rewards program. The charge a 4% fee for kitchen staff.

Yelp
I came here for a yelp elite event and left here ready to be a regular. I first want to start off with how friendly the family is and the food they make is clearly from their soul filled with love. I got to sample everything and it was all incredible. My favorite was the brick cheese pizza. The depth of flavor in every crust on every slice of pizza was unique and incredible. The marinara was truly the best marina I have ever had and I wish I could just buy bottles of it. 5/5 would come back. Each pizza was better than the next and I left with a full belly and great memories. I'll be bringing my friends and family by soon to visit again.

Yelp
Delicious chicken strips (forgot to take a picture) and very flavorful BBQ sauce for dipping! We also tried both styles of pizza and NY style is what I would recommend. The Sicilian had just a little too much bread for me but still tasted good. The workers we interacted with were very friendly and pleasant to talk to. We were the only people there, which I was surprised by! We sat outside since it was a nice day. Overall, pretty good experience! Didn't rate it a 5 just bc it is a little pricey (in my opinion) and bc the Sicilian was just a tad more dough than I prefer. Will definitely go back!

Yelp
The best gluten free pizza place that I've found! It's on the pricier side but worth it for what you get. Anyone looking for truly good gluten free pizza should check it out. The other food options though were really underwhelming. Chicken strips were very small and not great. It was also a 40+ min wait for the food to come out which was frustrating. It seemed like they were really backed up with a lot of delivery orders but it was also the weekend around dinner time. Not sure what the wait time is during other times during the day/week. Overall would go back for the pizza but be prepared for a wait.

Yelp
Dough Counter is SO good. Everything I've had was delicious. I need to go back and try the chicken tenders. The owners/staff make it better. Just try this place out. You won't regret it.

Yelp
Placed an order for pickup showed up right on time. Was then told my order wasn't ready and to wait another 20 minutes. I asked again if my order was ready and that's when they pull it out from a warming box. I'm not sure if it had been ready the whole time but by the time I got home (10 mins) my fries were completely cold and soggy and my pizza was luke warm at best and also soggy. I get you are busy but why make customers wait 20 minutes when their order is ready. The pizza was decent once I reheated it in my oven

Yelp
We heard about this place via Westword's 2024 guide to the best pizza in Denver and were delighted to find they delivered pretty far south to us. Amazing food, great customer service. The Sicilian pie made my Detroit born husband super happy, really nice crusty sides and flavorful dough. Less floppy and better overall than Hops and Pie (maybe I had a bad hops and pie day though). The NY style was great, better than Sully's in my opinion, better topping to cheese ratio. Then the green chile cheese bread was basically its own deep dish pizza, probably my favorite savory item. The green chiles are roasted normal ones, not canned, and the jalapeño sauce over it is a great touch. Finally, salad was worth ordering, nice size and good house made dressing, and the bumpy cake was spectacular. It's a Michigan treat we usually have to have shipped over from Sander's, but now we might just stick to Dough Counter's version. Really nice buttercream and fudge frosting and moist cake. Finally, customer service - we ordered delivery and the driver forgot some items. An employee extremely kindly ran them over in a second trip. I'm so happy they did, because we got to try the bumpy cake and I really appreciate the effort (vs just offering a refund). Highly recommended and thank you to the staff for the great meal!

Yelp
A delish addition to the neighborhood--pizza on point and salads are great (homemade dressings too). There the Marco Coal-fired people so they clearly know a thing or two about pizza and it shows here too.

Yelp
This is a 5 star review solely based on reviewing their gluten free pizza. Well worth the drive if you don't live in the area and are looking for gluten free options. If I didn't know any better I don't think I'd know that this was gluten free! The marinara sauce was amazing for dipping, tons of flavor. Cute little spot with a few tables for dine in as well!

Yelp
Amazing New York style pizza and outstanding chicken tenders. Some creative pizzas such as Loaded Baked Potato and Sicilian Hot Honey Pepperoni, but my fave was the custom NY I created. The chicken tenders were sooo juicy. Cool vibe and nice covered patio. Was twice this week and sure I'll be back soon

Yelp
We are totally hooked! Best pizza ever! We came before a DU hockey game and the salads and pizza were amazing!!!!!!! The restaurant setting and service style is deceiving, since the food is such great quality. So happy to have found this restaurant and will be back! Thank you to the owners and chefs for creating the best pizza I've ever had in my life! Can't wait to try all your pizzas and chicken too!

Yelp
Take out was super delayed. They forgot to make our order. Wanted to make up for it with desert - nah. Pizza was super mediocre - my gripe was with the lack of sauce. Lots of better options around.

Yelp
It's so nice to have a great place to go for gluten free options. Their pizza and chicken strips are really good and the brownies are out of this world. My husband loved their regular pizza too!

Yelp
The food was average. We got a Hawaiian pizza, pepperoni pizza, and Cesar salad. The salad was good but I wish there was more dressing with it and the pizza was just okay.

Yelp
This is really good pizza for those who want a heavier more stout thick pizza. It's not really heavy but more so than Detroit style.

Yelp
Someone here took a lesson in product placement. First thing my toddler sees is their huge sprinkle cake so of course he has to have one. We ordered a new york style pizza but I think next time we'll try the Sicilian. While the NY was good we definitely felt food envy watching the Sicilian slices come out of the kitchen. The cake may have been the highlight . So good pick by the toddler!

Yelp
We did a catering order for a birthday and it was PERFECT. We had everything double cut...the kids loved the NY style with cheese and also pepperoni. The adults absolutely housed the Sicilian style pies (also double cut). Everyone was asking where it was from. Online ordering was easy to navigate and the store manager dropped everything off to our picnic location.
