33 Best Restaurants in Boston | Condé Nast Traveler

"A Charlestown neighborhood mainstay with seasonal, modern, and homey dishes that draw locals back—housemade pastas like cavatelli with Berkshire pork, ricotta, and wild fennel pollen, and a to-die-for pork Milanese large enough to share—Dovetail curates a menu that’s inventive yet comforting for regulars." - Todd Plummer, Shannon McMahon

Dovetail Restaurant Opens in Charlestown, From the Brewer’s Fork Team | Eater Boston

"Opened over the weekend in the Navy Yard in the space formerly occupied by the Navy Yard Bistro, Dovetail serves American-style dishes using local, seasonal ingredients and features a wine program showcasing small-production wines from around the world alongside craft beer. The menu includes squash and burrata salad; fried Island Creek oysters; skate wing with cassoulet and carrot purée; pan-seared trout with long beans and a black garlic emulsion; and a variety of pasta options. The kitchen is led by head chef Amanda Lowry (formerly of the Butcher Shop), with sous chef Stephen Chandler and general manager Jess Gooch. In addition to a full-service restaurant, Dovetail operates a takeout sandwich shop open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., serving sandwiches such as a classic BLT, a vegetarian Cuban, porchetta, and pastrami on rye, plus soups, salads, cookies, and beer and wine to go (orders in person or by calling (617) 337-5230). The team said they endured a long, hard road of pandemic delays and doubts but are dedicated to making it work and "will do everything we can to survive the winter," and the restaurant is currently open Tuesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with plans to add Monday hours as well as lunch and brunch in the future." - Terrence Doyle

What a place! This cozy spot feels welcoming from the moment you walk in, thanks to the warm and friendly staff. The view of the humdrum in the kitchen adds a unique and lively touch to the overall experience. The menu is inventive with plenty to choose from. The food is flavorful, with a strong emphasis on texture that really stands out, especially in the appetizers where the crunch adds an extra layer of enjoyment. The attached store is another highlight, offering unique finds that go beyond a typical shop and are fun to explore. Highly recommend this place for a casual weekend dinner or for celebrating a special occasion that feels relaxed and comfortable rather than formal or stiff.

Awesome meal @ Dovetail… Watermelon Gazpacho was incredible; great service, very gracious staff. Enjoyed our meal indoors, went outdoors for dessert.

We’ve been coming here regularly for the last four years. The food, the service and the atmosphere are all FIVE STARS. My favorite is the Pork Milanese for dinner (they do change it a bit but it’s always exquisite), but the steak, the pasta, the snapper, the bread (which is made fresh daily) are all excellent options!

Fun little place nestled in a wonderful space. Great atmosphere, and the food - fantastic. Highly recommend the blackened halibut, truly next level. They have outdoor seating as well, but it was summer and I am weak, so I chose air conditioned splendor. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

Terrible breakfast burrito. Almost whole potatoes, a film of egg, brown avocado and packed in beside the fresh salad leaves which were wilted by the time we got it home to eat and $18 for the privilege. N’duja toast was fine. More anchovy than n’duja

One of the best restaurants in Charlestown. Perfect place for both full dinner or couple of drinks with snack. Open kitchen with professional servers gave us a good impression of the restaurants. Mussel with wine was spectacular; it really got along with bread and we ended up ordering couple more side breads to finish the sauce. Fig sandwich was also great. This is a lively place, and you can't really go wrong with any menu choice here.

Had dinner at dovetail for the first time, we loved the food, ambiance, and wine. Service was good with a bit of lag due to being a beautiful night and the patio was packed! I didn’t get a picture of everything but I loved the corn soup with lump crab, the focaccia bread small plate was AMAZING! I could have this as my meal it was just so good! I had an amazing sparkling rose which I forget the name but I believe it was Spanish. We normally venture into downtown Boston for dinner but this hidden gem was a lovely find and easier to find parking too. Will add this to our favorites list for sure :)

Their food was very tasty, but they do have a limited menu. It also is on the pricier side. I had the scallops and they were very delicious. One thing that did surprise us is that they have no dessert menu. The restaurant itself is a very aesthetic place.
