The Best Restaurants on Washington’s San Juan Islands | Eater Seattle

"Yes, it’s true that this stylish seafood eatery’s location right by the ferry dock in Friday Harbor can make it pretty busy, especially in the summer high season. But it’s worth braving the wait. With an airy outdoor patio and large windows looking out onto the bay, both indoors and outdoors come with fantastic views of the port, with bald eagles flying overhead and float planes cruising in for a landing. This is the classic San Juans backdrop for Downriggers’ Pacific Northwest sea-sourced and land-based offerings like scallop gnocchi or locally raised organic chicken with truffle jus and mushrooms. One must-order is the crab tater tots, with chunks of Dungeness crab and shredded potato mixed and battered together." - Zoe Baillargeon

Visited Downriggers at Friday Harbor during our San Juan Islands trip, and it was an excellent dining experience. We were a group of four friends, and after arriving via ferry with our car, we decided to stop here for lunch. There was about a 10–15 minute wait, but it was completely worth it. We got a table with a beautiful view of the harbor, which made the experience even more special. The ambience was calm and scenic, perfect for relaxing after a ferry ride. The staff was welcoming and attentive, making sure everything went smoothly throughout our meal. We tried a mix of dishes — Chicken Sandwich, Salad, and a few Seafood Platters. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, but my personal favorite was definitely the Chicken Sandwich — cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Overall, a wonderful spot with great food, friendly service, and stunning views. A must-visit if you’re in Friday Harbor and want to enjoy a delicious meal by the water. Must-try: Chicken Sandwich 🥪 | View: 10/10 🌊

So beautiful here this time of the year. Leslie, our wait person, was great about food selection and cocktails. The Aperol Spritzers were perfect and my favorite sandwich a Reuben with marbled rye bread.

The restaurant was absolutely perfect! The atmosphere was charming and inviting, and the staff were all very friendly and attentive. We chose to sit outdoors and were lucky to have such beautiful weather over the weekend. The only downside was the lack of shade in our seating area. I ended up wearing my sunglasses throughout lunch! 😆 The small plates, especially the clams and mussels, were incredibly delicious and honestly exceeded our expectations. Maybe we were just really hungry, but we devoured both dishes in no time and agreed they were packed with flavor. I absolutely loved the citrus mocktail! It was refreshingly light and the perfect drink for a warm summer day. It was also my first time trying fish and chips made with halibut, and I was pleasantly surprised by how tender and delicate the texture was compared to the usual kind. The salmon sandwich was another unexpected hit. The sauce was flavorful, but the highlight for me was the bread, crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside. It made the whole sandwich feel extra special

Google
Service was welcoming and respectful and accommodating. We stopped here on our way to the ferry after visiting the alpaca farm. The flavor was superb. My whole body savored the meal. It’s the just right you search for.

Google
Not worth the money. The waitress was very nice. The halibut, which was the daily special was dry and overcooked. The only way to eat it was with the cooked tomato’s that came with it. We also had the house salad and added shrimp. This was very tasty. The Elote Old Fashioned we had for dessert was also very good. The view is great, but would have rather had an outside table, the wait was too long for this option. All in all, the meal was on, but for the price, I would expect better.

Google
We had the kids cavatappi pasta, the dangerous crab tater tots, the burger with fries and the snapper sandwich with chips. Everything was good and tasted great. I would go back again, losing a star because both of the inside of our buns were burnt to a crisp and made everything else taste off. We didn’t have enough time to request new buns because we were on a time crunch and our server didn’t check on us much at all.

Google
The view is spectacular, food is average and over priced. We were seated right away with reservations. We ordered the burger and Chicken salad. Both dishes were good. Service is slow. The place gets really busy, reservations highly recommended.

Google
Loved everything about our experience here. Our server was accommodating and friendly. We were a party of four and were seated in a timely manner without reservations. The best part of our meal was the charcuterie board for the appetizer. Stunning! Lovely views of the harbor while we dined outside.

Yelp
Lunch with friends during a Port call in Friday Harbor, Washington and chose Downriggers, an American style bar and grill located on the harbor. It's a clean, modern style of architecture, nicely situated with a harbor view. They have a well rounded menu with some interesting items. For starters we ordered dungess crab tots - outstanding! It comes as an order of four. Made with crab, shredded potato and herbs served with house made tarter sauce that is very good. For lunch, Jan and I ordered a bowl of clam chowder. It was excellent. Amy ordered the smoked salmon plate, also excellent. Steve ordered the turkey pesto sandwich with house made potato chips, also excellent. The restrauant was busy and the service was very good. The noise levels were low. The prices moderate/high.

Yelp
My husband and I just finished eating here. We are snobs when it comes to good food and service. I was about to get super snobby because we ordered and everyone around us was getting their food but they were getting things like sandwiches and burgers so I held back. Then our food came. We had ordered the crab deviled eggs, a house and ceased starter salad, he ordered the bouillabaisse and I had the prawn Mac and cheese. The deviled eggs were a little bland. Not deviled eggs. Just crab plopped on boiled eggs, in my opinion. (I went to college in the south, I know good deviled eggs.) The salads were perfectly fine. What stopped me and made me reconsider my bad mood about the wait was the food. My Mac and cheese has a good emulsified cheese sauce and there's an arugula mix on top that has some vinegar to is. I thought it was odd, but combined it really makes a well balanced dish. However, the star of the show, the bouillabaisse is what blew my socks off. The seafood was all prepared at correct times so nothing was over cooked. The tomato base was delicious and had that slight grit of homemade from tomatoes that you get when, well, you make something homemade. The restaurant has a delightful, clean, modern decor with only a touch of seaside whimsy. I will agree, they need a new host or hostess. When we got there we waited. Then when we left there were four parties waiting. Our waitress was good though.

Yelp
My husband and I took the ferry for a quiet birthday meal at Downriggers. Arriving for our reservation, the front of house very pregnant "hostess", wearing a pink one piece leotard unceremoniously passed us over to her coworker who then led us to our table flinging the menus on the table and leaving without a word. Wow. Ok. So when our server, Olivia, arrived and asked how we were doing, we shared our observations. She apologized and said maybe it was "end of season attitude?" In any case, Olivia was great, attentive and funny. If not for her, we would've left there and then. As for the food: housemade chips were enh. A bit burnt tasting. My husband ordered the blackened halibut tacos which were quite tasty and well seasoned. I ordered bouillabaisse which was served in a thick, creamy tomato base but predominantly salmon. The flavor was fine. But overall nothing special. I did enjoy the lavender/pea drink but we finished our meal quickly and hightailed it to the ferry. The whole experience was just a let-down. It's a lovely view and lovely spot but, like other reviewers, there's clearly room for improvement.

Yelp
Have been here a few times and never disappointed. Had the crab dip, flat iron steak, and my partner had the ribeye. Crab dip was warm and packed with crab. Only point of criticism is that a few pieces of the crostini were a bit too crisp. My flat iron was delicious, cooked perfectly with beautifully roasted carrots and silky mashed potatoes. My partner's ribeyes also cooked perfectly and super flavorful. Paired my meal with a Cab. Was perfect to cut through the richness of the steak. Service was friendly and attentive and beautiful views of the harbor. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
August 11, 2025 - Friday Harbor, WA Our first visit to Friday Harbor had us eager to explore and find a great lunch spot. As the ferry pulled in, Downriggers caught our eye with its waterfront patio and inviting vibe. We decided to see if we could get a table. There was a waitlist for the patio--about a half hour--so the hostess took our number, and we wandered off to browse a few nearby shops. We returned about 20 minutes later to find our table ready and waiting. My husband ordered the Albacore Poke appetizer ($18), while I went with the Buddha Bowl--brown rice, quinoa, spiced pepitas, vegetables, and black bean slaw ($23). Both were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. As we enjoyed our lunch, I kept noticing a luscious lavender-colored drink making its way to other tables, so I finally gave in and ordered one. The Lavender Lemonade (butterfly pea flower-infused vodka and house-made lemonade, $12) was as refreshing as it was pretty--perfect for a warm island afternoon. Between the delicious food, harbor view, and relaxed atmosphere, Downriggers was a great choice for our first taste of Friday Harbor.

Yelp
After a busy day on the water and in Canada, we came back to the island around 7:30pm. Not many restaurants are open in Friday Harbor past 8:00pm, but to our luck, Downrigger was right by the harbor! I made reservations for my family and me the morning of. I'm glad we did because there can be a short wait if people come off the ferry and whale watching tours. When we arrived, our table was ready and they had a list of rules for our dog. They are dog-friendly but have rules you need to abide by. We sat outside which was a beautiful view overlooking the harbor. Inside was spacious and busy! I found the service to be all right. It seemed like our waitress was ready to be off, not very personable, or informed. We shared the Crab Deviled Eggs which left more to be desired. Barely any flavor of crab and no seasoning for the egg. For my meal, I had the South Sound Clams. They were not good! The clams were mushy which makes me think they weren't probably cooked after being frozen. The sauce was fine, but very thick and the clams masked in the sauced. This was not my favorite meal and I struggled to eat it. My family had their food and ate it all, no complaints. Downrigger is one of the popular restaurants in Friday Harbor. The views are nice and it's in close proximity but the food isn't the best. The restaurant is easy to find off Front Street. There's free street parking all around.

Yelp
Come for the rude hostess and okay food but stay for the views. Downriggers is located right on the water so the view is beautiful. Reservations are recommended as outside seating gets taken up first. Unfortunately, the host was rude to our party and very short. It seems that Yelp and Google reviews mention a rude hostess so looks like that was true. The food was just okay - nothing special. The steak was overcooked and the prawns were bland. There was nothing special with the burger or the fish. Overall a popular spot with beautiful views but that's about it - subpar service and okay pricey food.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant and great location right at the harbor. The food was okay but overpriced for what we got. Our waitress seemed to be having a bad day and we felt tolerated by her and not much else. We got the feeling she couldn't get rid of us fast enough and we had no excessive requests nor any complaints. Made for an ok experience that had the potential of being great.

Yelp
By far the best meal I had on San Juan island. The portions here were fantastic, the service here was great, and the views of the docks outside were so dreamy. We were here for a private event--a wedding party--and I find myself still thinking about this place weeks later. The menu was set but honestly I'm not complaining about that at all. The choices were fantastic no matter what you got. Pretty much everything you get is a highlight. The dungeness crab tots are so addictive and the clam chowder is super yummy. For dinner, you absolutely cannot skip the rib-eye. It's a huge slab of meat, but it was seasoned to perfection and grilled nicely. The s'mores dessert was a bit too sweet, but it's great for those with a sweet tooth of steel. If you're going to San Juan Island, you absolutely have to make a stop here. I'm so serious.

Yelp
Came here again after several years and it's the same convenient spot near the ferry terminals with great views and okay food. The best dish we've had is their fish tacos, it's always a hit. Chowder was fair but could have used more clams, and the Caesar salad needed a little more tang in the dressing. Service was fast and friendly though a tad absent after we got our food.

Yelp
Can't fault the service, the sweeping view of Friday Harbor or the ambiance --- this place has all three. What it didn't have was mussels, or salmon, or poke -- which, frankly, is what I came here to eat. Not their fault they sold out, but still a disappointment for me. It's pretty pricy, which I wasn't surprised by, considering the view and location. Im sure this place gets jammed come dinnertime, so probably best to make a reservation.

Yelp
Tried this place out after reading all the great reviews and asking a lady at our hotel if this place was any good. I would say it's okay. It isn't awful but it isn't a must try, i ended up having to grab a small pizza after leaving here though. I did love the atmosphere and beautiful ocean view. Crab deviled eggs - 3/10 nothing special and I'd skip, we were excited to try these but they let us down. Salmon with coconut veggie puree - 9/10 it was on their special menu so I'm not sure if they have it often but if they do it's definitely worth a try. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the puree was delicious. Wagyu burger - 0/10 it was lacking flavor. I asked to get it without bacon due to religious reasons but it tasted and smelled like bacon which grossed me out. I ended up only taking three bites and taking it home to my husband. He thought it smelled and tasted like bacon also without me mentioning it, I hate throwing food away but we had to with this burger. Service - 5/10 we had a reservation but upon arriving we were left waiting for the host for 5-7 mins before being seated. Bus boy was very polite and nice, he kept clearing dishes and pouring water, very nice young man, he is the one I'm giving 5 stars to. Waitress was okay, she disappeared right before closing while there was just us and two other tables left. We were waiting to pay our bill for 15 mins. The stars are for the salmon, view , and the kind young bus boy.

Yelp
Cora was our charming server. We receded right away and Cora was very busy but we've lacked for nothing because she was so attentive. When the food came out it's stunning. You just wanna look at see what everybody else is eating so you can order some of what they're having. I highly recommend coming here plus the view over the water is just wonderful with this view. five star. I came here with my family and we enjoyed every moment of it and I would totally return again. Thank you for your hospitality Cora. You made this old Vietnam veteran very happy.

Yelp
What a fantastic dinner! We walked in without a reservation and were seated inside right away--super easy and relaxed experience. The patio looked beautiful, right on the marina, perfect for a sunset dinner next time. We shared a fresh, delicious salad and the seafood risotto, which was absolutely spot on, great flavor, perfectly cooked seafood, and generous portions. Our server was incredible, friendly, knowledgeable, and super accommodating. You could tell they really cared about making sure we had a great experience. Highly recommend if you're looking for a quality meal in a scenic, welcoming spot!

Yelp
I orders the Bouillabaisse and it was, by far, the best I've ever had! My wife and her sister ordered the BLT/ Dungeness Crab sandwich and it was also the best! The potato chips were made to order. All in all, Downriggers is not to be missed if you are in Friday Harbor!

J L.

Yelp
This is a tricky review to write. I have been going to Downriggers for the last 25 years including many visits before their business burned down and got rebuilt. The food is excellent and they have a good choice of reasonably priced wines by the glass. The ambience of the new remodeled restaurant is really lovely, with beautiful views out over the marina. So when it comes to enjoying the restaurant experience, I'd rate somewhere between four and five stars. But, and this is a big but, this is mostly the case if the restaurant is very uncrowded. Once crowds begin to gather, especially in the evening, a fatal flaw in the design of the restaurant is revealed. (This assumes that you like conversing with the people you are having dinner with; if conversing isn't for you, just ignore the next section.) The ceiling of the restaurant is beautifully smooth, highly reflective and bounces any sound emerging from within the restaurant back into the restaurant, back up to the ceiling and thus and such. So, the moment there are more than a few people in the restaurant, everyone has to raise their voice in order to be heard above the racket of the sonic reflections coming from the ceiling. And because they are raising their voices, other patrons are forced to raise their voices louder in order to make themselves heard, and finally the positive feedback process continues until everyone is shouting at the tops of their voices and the noise level is unbearable. This has turned multiple dinners there into a sonic ordeal. And it's really unnecessary - the restaurant simply needs to install inconspicuous sound absorbing tiles on the ceiling. So to sum up: service quality, food quality and view are five stars or close to it. If the emphasis is on a quiet, quality dinner experience involving speaking to your dinner companions when there are other people around, the rating drops to one star, perhaps charitably two. So, my overall rating is regrettably three stars. I wish it were more because I wish them well.

Yelp
Amber and Bailey are the BEST. Great beer, great drinks, great company. Beautiful scenery and the cheesesteak was absolutely delicious!!! Service was extraordinary!

Yelp
We walked in around noon and got a table outside with a great view, no wait required. Our waiter had a calm, helpful demeanor, which I really appreciated. I ordered the cold brew, which was pretty standard, and the fried snapper sandwich, which was fantastic. The fish was flaky with no fishy smell, and the spicy slaw was chef's kiss. The mac and cheese can be made vegetarian by substituting mushrooms, and it was really flavorful. Just a heads up, it has a bit of a kick. I'd definitely come back.
google avatar

Joan F.

Yelp
We enjoyed our drinks and dinner here with great views, friendly service, and yummy food. I found the menu hard to navigate--having French onion soup, a small salmon option with a vegetable would have been great. As I write, I wish I had asked about a side of salmon with the house salad. I bet that's a great option. I had the burger--it was tasty, and I have half to eat tomorrow, so I fared well. It's pretty, offers good food, and excellent service. We'll be back for more.
google avatar

Supriya L.

Yelp
The restaurant faces the water and has the perfect ambience. The service was great! We ordered the gnocchi, seasonal salmon, clam chowder, wagyu burger and the bouillabaisse. All the dishes were very delicious. They also give complimentary bread with sun dried tomato butter which was also very good. The wagyu burger patty was very soft and tender. The fries were crisp and well fried.
google avatar

Renee J.

Yelp
Chilly, rainy day of sightseeing. We decided to try this place, as it was recommended for its clam chowder which was thick, hot and good. I ordered a Washington melot, he ordered the bull jelp esb local beer. Both were good. We splurged on the fresh halibut fish and chips $38. Fries well done and battered fish were both excellent.
google avatar

Celia C.

Yelp
I am so glad we made reservations as this place was packed! I didn't take any pictures of food but just need to trust me that the downriggers burger was delicious! My husband ordered the chicken and it was tasty too! Not dry and quite savory. I am so happy they were able to accommodate to my request of a perfect view of the water. Despite how packed they were, surprisingly the food came out timely. I would go again next time I'm in town

Yelp
Fresh, delicious seafood - what could be better?! I dropped by after getting in line for the ferry nearby. I phoned in my order and was able to pickup my lunch sandwich and salad in about 20 minutes. The lunch menu was so full of yummy options it was hard to narrow it down to just two items. The young people working here were very friendly and helpful and I enjoyed my lunch on the dock before getting in the car for the long ride home. I will for sure be ordering from them again in the future. Or next time if I have more time, I'll see what their dining room is like!

Yelp
I made a reservation for 5 people at 11am Sunday and it was not busy, but given we went during "shoulder season" right before the summer, I wasn't surprised. But it did feel a bit busy closer to 12pm so a reservation was recommended. This place is conveniently located near the Friday Harbor ferry and seaplane areas. We tried the dungeness crab tots, crab deviled eggs, spicy prawn mac and cheese, and bouillabaisse. The crab tots were large tater tots, 6 pieces for $21 which is a bit pricy, and it did not feel like there was much crab inside. I would not recommend. However, I would 100% recommend the crab deviled eggs - fresh, delicious, and generous amounts of crab meat at 3 for $7 ($2.50 for additional egg). As we had 5 people, it made better sense to just get 2 orders, and this was a crowd favorite, which is no surprise it is one of the more popular dishes. Spicy prawn mac and cheese was very substantial and the prawns were fresh. I would get this one as a better priced entree that is fairly filling. Bouillabaisse had shrimp, scallop, cod, prawns, potatoes, clams, and grilled baguette. However, the dish did not match up the ingredients, as there was no scallop nor clams but rather salmon and mussels. Feels a little misleading so -1 star, especially given that this dish is priced at $42. Additionally, while the seafood was fresh, the dish was forgetful in flavor, with the grilled baguette butter dominating the flavors of the dish. -1 star for the service. Hostess was nice, but it would have been better if I had to not repeat myself multiple times on reservation details. I stated in reservation notes for indoor seating by the window or outdoor seating if weather is nice, then I called about running late and they were okay with it and they asked inside or outside, so I stated outside since the weather was nice. Then, I checked in and the hostess still asked me if I wanted inside or outside, despite clarifying my preference 20 min ago. Additionally, I asked for an extra napkin to the waiter twice and never gotten napkins, a huge miss on service. At least water refills were present but was not enough to make up for a gap in service especially for a restaurant of this price point. Despite the hiccups, I would recommend this place for the location, views, and food.

Yelp
DownRiggers was an okay restaurant. It wasn't terrible, but the experience was also somewhat disappointing. The service: Now, only two people at my table were asked what they wanted to drink. The rest of us weren't asked and instead we were just given water. The service honestly just felt reluctant, like the servers didn't really want to be there. However, the people who constantly filled up water at tables were super nice and awesome. The food: The food was good, all the orders were correct. The environment: There was some elegant furniture and it was obvious they tried to have that vibe, but it didn't entirely succeed. The restaurant itself was very loud, tables felt crowded together and a little too close, which in turn made it feel messy. It's dimly lit inside, as well, and the menus felt old and flimsy. Final thoughts: In all honesty, it wasn't terrible, but I probably won't be going back.

Yelp
We dined here twice during our visit to San Juan Island. Loved it. Everything was delicious. I had a Dungeness BLT special that was just that... truly special. The huge, meaty mussels were in a delightful broth, and the clams in red curry coconut broth was probably one of the best dishes I've ever consumed. The seafood Cobb was thoughtfully balanced with lump crab and shrimp, not overpowered by too much Gorgonzola or bacon. It was perfect. My daughters were pleased with the selection of oysters and flavored lemonades, the crab tots, and the cod and chips. Truly a wonderful dining experience.
google avatar

Diane J.

Yelp
Food was mediocre. Poutine was not good or appetizing to look at. Not great service. But the view was good. Restaurant was cold after Being on a whale watching trip.
google avatar

Terry G.

Yelp
Shared a big bowl of excellent clam chowder and a turkey pesto sandwich. Great view of the harbor and good, friendly service.
google avatar

Daniel K.

Yelp
Decent casual dining experience. Food is a little underwhelming taste wise, especially for price (but inline with area). Nice views. Service is efficient but impersonal. Not a destination but not terrible choice in area.
google avatar

Nora J.

Yelp
Enjoyed my dining experience at this restaurant in Friday Harbor! I came here a year ago and had their clams and had to go back for more. The clams are just as tasty as I remembered! I love the red curry sauce with leeks in them. We got drinks as well and both of them were strong and tasty! I loved the coconut cream in the coconut mojito. The fried calamari was yummy, not too greasy and had a good portion of squid to breaded crumbs. The halibut we ordered was cooked perfectly and they were able to split it on two separate plates ($2 fee though). The service was decently fast for how busy they were and the staff was helpful and friendly. If you're planning to come here on a weekend, I highly recommend to make a reservation.

Yelp
Location is amazing. Sitting out on their patio on a gorgeous PNW September afternoon! They have a great wine selection with a solid variety of pricing. Our server was really kind and made our experience just right. We enjoyed the deviled eggs to snack on and found them to be very well done!

Rebecca M.

Yelp
On a Sunday evening during the shoulder season most restaurants on the island were not open. We went to Downriggers due to the good reviews. Our meals were solid. I ordered the Halibut special. It's a big piece of fish that's fresh and sweet. It came with some chopped apples, roasted root vegetables, rice, and a buttery sauce. The food gets a passing grade. We appreciated being nourished with a healthy hot meal on a stormy evening. For $45 it feels overpriced though.
google avatar

Shay B.

Yelp
3 scallops for $50?? Very bland and not much flavor. The gnocchi tasted like it was pan fried with oil. Not in a good way.
google avatar

Kelsie D.

Yelp
Fantastic!! Came in for an early lunch right when they opened at 11 and was seated promptly at an outdoor table as requested. The view is great! Watching the boats coming in and out of the harbor, seaplanes landing and taking off. So neat! We ordered the crab deviled eggs as an appetizer and they were super yummy and nicely presented. For the main entrees we got their specials. A short rib sandwich and their seasonal heirloom tomato and crab BLT. They were both delicious but the crab sandwich was the star. Perfectly ripe, flavorful tomatoes, and a ton of yummy crab! Our server Kay was friendly and attentive. Would definitely come here with every visit to Friday Harbor. Very worth it!
google avatar

Jon Z.

Yelp
Downriggers is one of the most popular restaurants in Friday Harbor, so that was our choice the first night we were in. I got the halibut special. I personally thought it was good but not amazing. It was cooked well but could have been seasoned a bit better in my opinion. The whole menu is quite expensive which is to be expected, so keep that in mind as well. The staff was nice and it's right on the water so it has great views of Friday Harbor, so it certainly makes for a nice atmosphere.

Whitney B.

Yelp
Staff were all friendly. Service was good. Would 10/10 recommend the Seafood Bouillabaisse loaded with local seafood. For apps the Crab Tots and the Mussels were both delicious.
google avatar

Brett M.

Yelp
Service was a lot of attention at the beginning and regular check ins to see if we were good. That was appreciated. The portions of food and quality could have been better especially for the price. Really scenic views of the harbor, from the windows. Good for a date spot if you want a nice spot in the area...but they should either give bigger portions, reduce the price or improve the quality of the food. Either of those things would make me give another star.
google avatar

Genna G.

Yelp
Best restaurant of our trip ( so far ). Sat outside right on the water and it was such a lovely view and atmosphere or as our kids would say " vibe". We started with the crab deviled eggs which was incredible and a light melon salad which was also delicious. I had the salmon which was the special of the night and every bite was delicious and my husband ordered the halibut which he enjoyed immensely as well. Service was friendly and attentive. Wonderful restaurant when visiting Friday Harbor. Would highly highly recommend it.

Kristin S.

Yelp
Wow! Just wow! Views are spectacular. Service was great. The food was excellent! Crab BLT and the salmon Rueben. The salmon Rueben was the tastiest smoked salmon ever!

Yelp
We've been here before- the food is good, the service is also good. But this place isn't cheap, and honestly they need to class up the dress code for staff. Shorts shouldn't be shorter than long, knee length (honestly, capris are more appropriate in nice dining). Last time we were here a younger waitress had on super short shorts. This year, an older waitress had on mid thigh shorts and I am sorry but it looked bad. Bare thighs just aren't something most people want at eye level from their servers regardless of age or body. The wait staff with longer capris and long pants looked much more professional, can we just stick with that? Anyhow, I like the food but dislike the staff dress. It cheapens the feel of the place, which is sad. Our waiter was Sander (or maybe Xander?) and he was an absolute delight, really smart and took great care of us.

Very good! Perfect view of the marina from our table on the patio, great food and an absolutely great server- friendly, efficient and we couldn't have asked for better service.

Yelp
Fantastic service during a recent private dining experience. Attentive to large group of guests. The food and drink were excellent as well. No better place to sit outside in the sun and watch the harbor.

Yelp
Yes, nice place, beautiful really, with a view and good service. My meal was also pretty tasty. However, it's crowded and expensive. I arrived mid afternoon to avoid crowds, sat at bar and had wild salmon, mashed potatoes and cider. All excellent. But too many people, and too expensive. Friday Harbor needs more restaurants open after peak season ends.

Yelp
Great ambience. Had a reservation and got a nice spot outside. Fried calamari was very tasty. The grilled flat iron was pretty good, but not enough for 5 stars. We enjoyed our visit though

Yelp
Have enjoyed Downriggers many times. Visit this week was due to a business dinner. Beautiful setting with a fun atmosphere, and everyone that works here is amazing. From the service to the tasty food to the ambience, you can't beat this for a great place to enjoy a tasty meal in Friday Harbor. Highly recommended!

Yelp
My husband I came here for our anniversary dinner while in Friday Harbor. The ambiance wasn't spectacular, much more family friendly than romantic. The food, however, was great! We started with the bread tomato butter and the crab deviled eggs. My husband hates deviled eggs but loved these ones! The filling was light and not overly mayonnaisey. The crab was fresh, the salmon I got with my hummus plate was crispy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. My husband got the prawns Mac and cheese and loved it. Lovely cocktails as well and great service!
