Tourist trap capitalizing on reputation.
It's popular, and I really want this to be my source for good produce, but I'm increasingly disappointed in the quality. (Five trips this season and I threw away most of the fruit.) I just can't shake the suspicion they know people will buy it no matter what and that most won't return it the next week. There are a few gems, but most are taking advantage of their reputation as the largest market in Salt Lake and that people are there and hungry so they will buy overpriced pastries and mediocre (and overpriced) produce just because it's there. Costco's produce is better, cheaper, and they will take it back, no questions asked.
