"Ok, so it lives in the lobby of a big hotel chain, but Drago's also happens to serve the best charbroiled oysters in town, the recipe for which was developed by a member of the family that's been running Drago’s since 1969. A lot of attention is paid to the freshness of seafood—everything from oysters to lobster to shrimp is caught and served same day. The gumbo is also pretty excellent."

New Orleans Top Tourist Traps That Are Actually Worth a Visit | Eater New Orleans

"The genius notion to add butter and garlic to a raw oyster’s natural brine, using the shell as a ready-made serving dish straight from the grill, is nothing short of brilliant. It occurred to Tommy Cvitanovich a couple of decades ago at Drago’s, his family’s revered oyster palace with an original location in Metairie that opened in 1969 and a very tourist-friendly location in the HIlton Riverside at the edge of the Quarter. Drago’s makes some of the best charbroiled oysters you’ll ever taste — juicy, topped with herbs and a blend of Romano and parmesan cheese, sizzling with butter." - Beth D’Addono

Located right in the heart of downtown New Orleans, Drago’s Seafood Restaurant was the perfect stop for Night 2 after a long day of sightseeing, walking, and shopping. Of course, we came for their famous charbroiled oysters, and they absolutely lived up to the hype—rich, smoky, buttery, and unforgettable! The service and atmosphere were equally impressive—warm, welcoming, and relaxed. For a party of 8, the wait was about 30 minutes, which we found totally reasonable given how busy they were. Once seated, our food came out quickly and piping hot. We ordered a variety of dishes, and every single bite was amazing. If you’re in NOLA and craving incredible seafood with great service in a lively setting, Drago’s should definitely be on your list!

We were told it would be 20 minutes to clear table for our group of 8. Meanwhile several large groups were seated before us. When I spoke up, they claimed they forgot about us. If it were not for the group wanting to stay I would've left. How do you forget one large group but not the others? The food was just ok, but the oysters were very delicious 😋 Our total bill was $416 for 8 people which wasn't bad.

Drago's is hands down one of my favorite places to eat when I'm in New Orleans. I don't eat oysters anywhere else on Earth but here - and only the Charbroiled Oysters. They are perfectly seasoned and not slimy but also not too dry. I will eat them multiple times during a visit to the city. I like Caesar salads just fine but the version at Drago's is perfect. The croutons are light and easy to eat. On my most recent visit, someone ordered the Charbroiled Corn on the Cob and the Crabmeat Au Gratin Dip and they were both amazing. I've taken a good many people here during my visits and have never had anyone who didn't love everything they ordered. The service is always lovely and the drinks are good. They can be a little on the strong side but still really good. This time we had the French 75 and Sangria.

Y’all!…I don’t care what your itinerary consists of, get to Drago’s! I finally made it here after a year & a half, seeing it on social media. I was NOT disappointed! The staff were all friendly and helpful from beginning to end. The food…whewwww! The charbroiled oysters 🔥. The seafood was fresh & didn’t have the fishy smell like other places tend to have. I will certainly make this at least a once a month trip(from Dallas)just for the oysters. They brought out bread pudding for my birthday. It was nice and hot. The flavorful was so nostalgic. Thank you Drago’s for your wonderful service!

I’m a musician on tour & went because some of my friends recommended this & said it was the best meal they had in NOLA. We were unfortunately not impressed. The waitress jokingly said we should order 2 dozen oysters…we only did a half dozen & thank god we did because they were not only lacking flavor but also every oyster had shell pieces in them. We also ordered buffalo shrimp which was okay but not mind blowing. The crab dip was also just okay, tortilla chips looked like they weren’t made fresh, especially for the price point of each app being $20 & up. The only thing that was great was the fried gator but our last piece of it was so fatty…it couldn’t even be chewed! I recommend for better oysters, casamentos near peaches records - charred oysters were the best we’ve had & we got soft shell crab sandwich that was a classic/simple dish but better than anything we ate at Dragos.

Waitess ALISA was horrible. She seemed agitated that we had questions about wanting to adjust plates as needed. She went to get our drinks one at a time, like deliberately. She always had like comments or facial expressions like she was irritated. She applied for this job, so serve us! My family (traveled from Chicago and Canada, and we are from Texas) for this family reunion and we were a party of SEVEN. I guess she was excited about the AUTOMATIC GRATUITY and treated us poorly. ALISA went to all other tables around us and seemed happy to cater to them. She rarely came back, she didn't other additional drinks or even water. After we got a manager Marshalia Brown, to hear our side of the situation, we were informed this is a UNION establishment so there will be no repercussions. This waitress came and poured us ALL a round of water, when we had been down with our meal and plates had been there 20 minutes! Brown tried to make it right and adjust the bill. Reviews were so highly rated and we were disappointed. My sister's birthday and my wedding anniversary were not even acknowledged. If I could give negative stars, I would.

I’m in town for a conference and all I heard about were these charbroiled oysters and they live up to every ounce of hype you could imagine. You’re doing yourself a dis service if you don’t order yourself some of these. I did get a cup of the seafood gumbo, which was delectable. In my humble opinion, the cornbread was also a great side dish to have. It was a phenomenal dinner for me altogether. I wish I had more days because I would definitely come back. Upon walking to the restaurant, I just headed straight for the bar. I thought it was the only one and I was definitely mistaken. The restaurant is massive and there’s a second bar if you keep walking.

Apparently it’s a New Orleans institution and I can understand why: the famous charbroiled oysters! I don’t like raw oysters so this was a risk for me and I absolutely LOVED them! We also had shrimp tacos that were good. The waiter and the place was very welcoming and friendly. If you’re into seafood you have to try it!

Yelp
Was in town for a conference and a friend was staying in the hotel upstairs. We stopped in for lunch on one of the conference days and decided to try the chargrilled oysters. In addition to that, we ordered a crabmeat grilled cheese as well as a catfish platter and dug in. The oysters deserve a paragraph of their own. They are grilled to perfection and was quite honestly one of the best seafood dishes I've ever had. I've only ever had oysters one other time in my life and it was not a good time but I really wanted to try this and I'm glad I did. And use that bread to sop up ALLLL that buttery saucy goodness. Next was the grilled cheese. Don't judge it by its simple appearance - that was pretty good. The warm dip that came with it made it even better. The catfish platter was also delicious, but how could you not enjoy a plate of fried food? Our server was friendly and we were seated quite quickly. I must have been sitting near an air vent because I did get a bit chilly from the AC blowing on me the entire time, but survived. Would definitely recommend, even if just for the oysters!

Yelp
My cousin hyped up Drago's from before we left to NOLA until we were finally sitting at their bar. I see why she did this as their food lives up to the hype. The restaurant was super crowded because of Essence Fest, so we ended up getting seats from two people at the bar. The bartender took our orders and it took no time for our food to come out pipping hot. From the first bite to the last my shrimp and grits was so yummy. The shrimp were medium sized and softly cooked. I liked that there was a balance of them and the grits. Both ingredients did not over power each other--such a great balance. Only thing I would add to my dish is a little more heat and spice. Otherwise the shrimp and grits was delicious as well as the shrimp alfredo pasta. They give you enough for two meals, so be ready to share or to take home leftovers.

Yelp
5 star charbroiled oysters and meh to everything else. The cup of gumbo was mostly rice, the BBQ shrimp was was in this super thick and salty sauce, the bread for dipping was dry and stale, and the hurricane cocktail was blah and just tasted like alcohol. I thought the atmosphere would have been nicer being in the Hilton, but was just kinda open and casual. Our waitress was great and friendly! The star was the Charbroiled Oysters. I am partial to Felix's on Bourbon Street, but these lived up to the hype from some fellow Yelpers. I'd go back for these but skip everything else, including drinks! Maybe a bottled beer.

Yelp
No complaints here. We stopped in for lunch on a quiet Sunday afternoon. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. The menu hosts a LOT of interesting food options but the blackened gator tacos are what caught my eye. They were super delicious without being too gamey and they were the appropriate portion for the price. My fiancé got the filets and I tried his meal and it was also excellent. The location is convenient to the Hilton and a lot of other nearby attractions. I think you can also use casino comps there but I would double check on that one. Overall, a great place to dine!

Yelp
This restuanut was the main focus of our Foodie Trip In New Orleans! We came here to try their LEGENDARY Chargrilled Oysters that were invented in 1993. Location: It's located INSIDE A HILTONS, and they have parkings around the corner/street. Reservations: I booked a reservation prior to coming here on a busy Saturday night and only waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Highly recommended making a reservation as this place was PACKED! Service: Our server was attentive and quick considering how big her section was! She was sweet and memorized our order by memory! She was truly a gem. Our food came out promptly and correctly. Ambiance: Upon walking around the venue, it was amazing and fun to see their open grill set up with huge flames coming out! It was truly so exhilarating to see our food being cooked! It was like a dinner and a show. A lively modern style downtown Hub. Food: Of course the star of the show was the FAMOUS and original Chargrilled Oysters but we had to try a few other delicacy on their menu and they did not disappoint!! Here's what we ordered: -Drago's Original Charbroiled Oysters $28.96 a DOZEN: A buttery concoctions of garlic & herbs, on fresh oysters with a blend Parmesan and Romano cheese cooked in their shell on a hot flaming grill. Served with french bread and lemons to soak up all that buttery goodness sauce! Truly you can see and taste the love that goes into these oysters. -Raw Oysters on half shells $13.95 half dozen: Super fresh and served with lemons and cocktail sauce. -Blackened Gator Tacos $15.95: Blackened gator meat with arugula, pico de gallo and Cajun aioli in fresh soft flour tortilla. These are the perfect introductory dish for people who never had gator meats. The gator meats are so plump and moist which paired perfectly with the fresh arugula and pico de gallo. My husband adored these tacos! Cup of Chicken & Andouille Sausage Gumbo $8.95: The most underwhelming gumbo I've gotten in NOLA. Sadly, I had one tiny piece of Sausage in the cup but the flavors were somewhat decent. There was more rice than Gumbo. For the price and portion it wasn't worth it here. Next time I'd try the Étouffée. Charbroiled Corn On the Cob $5.95: Sounds simple but honestly PACKED with flavors! It was the perfect side dish as it adds compliments of sweetness with the savoriness of the other dishes we ordered! The butter aioli sauce was the perfect touch. ****** Menu Selections: Dragos had an EXTENSIVE and DIVERSE menu even catering to VEGANS! They had so many options that you're bound to find something that fancies your tastebuds! Ranging from seafoods, salads, pastas, steaks, to tacos! It seemed like endless choices! The perfect place to cater and have special occasions! Overall, a GEM to visit whenever you're in NOLA! Can't wait to comeback and get more chargrilled oysters!! Had such an amazing experience that made it the PERFECT date night with my husband! I wish we had Drago's in Las Vegas, I'd honestly go once a week!

Yelp
Those chargrilled oysters are fantastic!!! Buttery goodness! What an experience to watch the chefs prepare them! Service was good - very attentive My wife had the small salad with crabmeat - very good! I'll go back for those oysters any day!

Yelp
Gratuity is not an option on pickup order if you're staying in hotel. That's ridiculous to charge gratuity on just placing an order! You've lost quite a few customers over this non sense. The food is high priced enough but to charge 18% for someone to take an order, come on. Not to mention how tiny the twin steaks are. Def not 8oz.

Yelp
Was staying at the Hilton and was told these are the best charbroiled oysters in NOLA so I came for lunch. I didn't think they were very good. The garlic sauce is tasty, but it just tastes greasy overall. The fresh oysters and sweet potato fries were delicious. The service was minimal with lots of people standing around. With all the delicious places to eat in NOLA, I was annoyed that I wasted a meal here.

Yelp
I saw the Metarie location of Drago's on DDD, so when I found out Drago's has a location in N'Awlins, I said I gotta try it. I had a cup of the seafood gumbo, and 1/2 dozen sig charbroiled oysters. The gumbo seemed under seasoned, so I added some Tabasco, and it tasted much better. On the other hand, the oysters were the best charbroiled ones I had on the trip. The combination of seasoning and the sauce created by it all, was great for mopping up with the bread. The only downside is there was some bits of shell w/ the oysters. My waitress was friendly at first. However, she was inattentive bc she never checked on me, and I had to ask her for a drink refill. Lastly, she didn't thank me when she brought the bill. Regarding the ambiance, its big at this location in the Waterfront Hilton. However, the restaurant shares the center w/ the hotel bar. I asked to sit at the "bar", and was told it was entirely separate from the restaurant. All in all, a positive experience bc of the oysters. However, I would like to go to the original location in Metarie (a suburb of N'Awlins.

Yelp
From expectations comes disappointments and that is what happened today with Drago's. The waiter was not the nicest, the oysters were over seasoned and took away from the actual oysters, pasta had a lot of sauce and not enough shrimp, we got charged for stale bread, the mashed potatoes were cold, drinks were not refilled unless asked once they were done and we had waited. The ambiance was nice compared to other restaurants we visited. We walked or took Ubers during this trip so I'm not sure what the parking situation is.

Yelp
We visited Drago's with a large group for a bachelorette party and were really looking forward to the experience. While the atmosphere was fun, the service was a bit underwhelming for a large party. One of our guests has dietary restrictions (gluten-free and dairy-free), and it would have been helpful if the staff had been more informed or able to offer suggestions or adjustments. That said, the charbroiled oysters were the star of the show -- absolutely delicious and definitely the highlight of our visit. I had the lobster meal, which looked great, but the lobster meat was a little dry for my taste. Overall, I'd come back just for the oysters and hope for a more attentive experience next time, especially when it comes to accommodating special dietary needs.

Yelp
I didn't care for this visit. I'd been frequenting this location for years, and the quality of food/ drinks has gone down. Our first batch of chargrilled oysters had to be sent back. There was hardly any cheese and butter on it, and a whole lot of overpowering herbs. Our waiter was gracious enough to take back and get the kitchen to make us another dozen. They were better, but still not up to the standard set by previous visits. Additionally, my drink came out lukewarm. The waiter was our saving grace, but based on this last visit, I will not be rushing to come here again any time soon.

Yelp
Came back to this restaurant after 10 years--and it was a nostalgic return! Located inside the Hilton Hotel, the space definitely has that classic, old-school charm. You can tell it's been around for a while, but everything was clean and well-kept. Service was excellent--friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We were pleasantly surprised by the food, especially considering some of the mixed reviews. The charbroiled oysters were just as good as we remembered--still a solid choice. The shrimp platter was generously portioned, and the seafood pasta came loaded with meat and flavor. And don't leave without getting a pitcher of the Sangria La--refreshing and perfect for sharing. Overall, we left happy and satisfied. A great way to revisit a NOLA favorite!

Yelp
We walked in on a Saturday afternoon and they were able to seat us right away. This restaurants is huge! Our server was nice. I came here in search for the best char grilled oysters in Nola and these were not it. The oysters were tiny in the shells drowned out and overpowered by fake parmesan cheese. The gumbo, crawfish's étouffée, the shrimp and grits, the boudin balls, and seafood Alfredo were ok. The shrimp and grits were different I've never had it in tomato sauce and the boudin balls were nice too with a nice little spice. The Alfredo could've used a little more fresh parm. Maybe it was this location or the day, but sadly this wasn't for me.

Yelp
Stayed at the Marriott in New Orleans and walked 10 minutes to Drago's that's located at the Hilton. Got there at 6pm and there was no line. Left at about 8pm and the line was almost out the door. So get there early. These are the best grilled oysters of all time. The garlic, butter, bread crumbs and herbs and char combination make these special and delicious. Sit at the bar in front of the grill. It's fun to watch how the chefs grill the oysters.

Yelp
The charbroiled oysters came sizzling! They were generously peppered and soaked in savory, buttery juices. The bread paired wonderfully. Service was attentive at the bar. At 4pm on a Wednesday, the restaurant was not filled at all, so the atmosphere felt very calm and relaxed.

Yelp
BBQ OYSTERS!!! First timer and wow, delicious and especially here with a garlic butter. OMG! They may take awhile but they are fresh off the Q. Waitress was fun and playful. Love that type of personality. Nothing fancy interior but busy. Chose the crawfish fest because.... when in Rome! In order of taste, from ok to best, the etouffe, mac-n-cheese, and the cake! The cake was surpisingly the best. Absolutely Yelplicious! Lots of seafood/Cajun options here to try again but the BBQ oysters will bring me back. Desserts were also good but that brownie..... bedtime for Bonzo! Yummmmmy. Bread pudding was just ok but I'm not normally a fan.

Yelp
Dragos was meh. We came on a recommendation from our Lyft driver. The chargrilled oysters were solid not great, kinda small. Service was very slow and the guy was supposed to bring us more bread then never showed up and someone came and took our plates. We also split the boudin balls I think they were okay not the warmest but the sauce was tasty. My wife got a spicy margarita of sorts which was decent nothing to write home about. It's in a hotel lobby basically so the vibe is just kinda strange. We won't be back, many other better places to get the same style of food way better with better vibes and service.

Yelp
Drago's Seafood Restaurant was a decent experience, but it didn't quite live up to the hype. The food itself was good--especially the charbroiled oysters--but the portion sizes were smaller than expected, and the prices felt a bit too high for what we got. Service was okay, nothing particularly bad, but nothing memorable either. It just felt a bit rushed and impersonal. While Drago's is worth trying once, if you're looking for better value and a more satisfying overall experience, I'd recommend Felix's Restaurant & Oyster Bar instead. The food there is just as good--if not better--and you definitely get more bang for your buck.

Yelp
i *always* go to neyow's for chargrilled oysters when in new orleans and wanted to try "the original". unfortunately, while some of the items here were tasty (specifically the seafood pasta), drago's overall was very expensive and did not live up to the hype. $535 for 5 of us (3 people w/ 1 drink each). there are much better and more affordable seafood and creole offerings elsewhere.

Yelp
Date of visit: December 19, 2025 We wanted a quick meal before heading over to the Orpheum for the Louisiana Philharmonic's holiday concert and that Drago's was in the hotel made it easy to accomplish this task. The hostess was very friendly and the extended walk over to our table highlighted just how giant the restaurant is. I wasn't crazy about the hallway that we were seated in, though it did position us closer to the kitchen so there were some benefits to being seated where we were. Freddie our server was very deferential to my friend, but practically ignored me, which I found odd (the fact that I was paying notwithstanding) but I didn't let it spoil the meal for me, as some of the food did that all on its own. First, the bad: the spinach dip. The dip was flavorless and the chips were the most bland tortilla chips I've ever had; I picture a bag in the kitchen, completely white in color except for the words "tortilla chips" that these must have come out of to be this lousy. On the other hand, my friend really enjoyed her Hurricane and we loved the lobster mac and cheese; it apparently stole all of the flavor from the spinach dip! We enjoyed the lobster mac so much that we got a second order to bring back for my friend's daughter to enjoy in the room.

Yelp
Our experience went well. Service was incredibly great. Great recommendations. The atmosphere was clean and very beautiful. We had the famous fried oysters and I must say to never baby tried oysters at all I'm glad I tried them like this. So much flavor so delicious! We also had the gator tacos and the sauce on top was amazing! But nothing beats the minkey bread with ice cream. The best we had in New Orleans!! Def worth checking out!

Yelp
Great service, exceptional food and electric setting in the middle of the Hilton hotel. I really enjoyed my angel hair Chicken Alfredo and it may even be the best I've ever had in a restaurant setting! The chicken was crispy, the sauce was creamy and the pasta was cooked to the perfect texture. My server was also super awesome, going out of her way to check my gift card balance and provide me with extra bread for dipping. 7/10, I definitely recommend this location if you happen to find yourself in the CBD area or close to the French Quarter.

Yelp
So excited to eat in a hotel restaurant. Yes you rad that correctly. Dragons is based on the first floor of the Hilton. They are known for the charbroiled oyster. We started with a dozen oysters that were delicious. Loved dipping the bread in the melted butter and garlic. The house salad was nice and a good size. The Caesar side salad had the most light and delightful croutons. Unfortunately there was a bit too much dressing on the salad to really enjoy it. The fried shrimp platter was nice as well. The shrimp were plump and tasty. There were 2 onion rings and a tone of French fries. More than filling to The staff were very attentive and nice.

Yelp
Another great experience today. Freddie was an awesome server and on point. Had oysters and red beans and rice. My friend had the grilled cheese with crab.

Yelp
We were stuck for an hour and a half in the Harrah's casino parking garage the other night, so to kill time I decided to walk over to Drago's on Poydras. The restaurant is pretty dimly lit, definitely gives off more of a date night vibe than anything casual. I'm not sure if I came on just an overly crowded night or if it's normal for them to be borderline packed, but it made it so hard to even get acknowledged by staff. I feel like I waited almost 15 minutes before anyone even took my to-go order. Under normal circumstances I would've walked out, as some did, but I had already walked from the casino & really had a taste for some chargrilled oysters. When it comes to the oysters themselves...the flavor was there, there's no denying that but man were they SMALL. They were also a bit tough to scoop out, so might've been slightly overcooked & being that I paid $20 for a half dozen idk I expected better quality. Overall, would I recommend this place? Umm...maybe. Again the flavor of the oysters were good, so you'd be satisfied in that department (not just with that dish but anything you can order, as I only heard one complaint out of 50 people I overheard/observed). It's just a matter of how long you're willing to wait and pay.

Yelp
Back at Drago's, and what for you ask? For those charbroiled oysters! Came here for the first time on Thursday and they were so good that I had to come back before I headed out of town tomorrow.

Yelp
Mom wanted to meet with fam (and her better half) who live in NOLA, and fam suggested we meet here for lunch. PERFECT: Because I had no intentions of leaving NOLA without at least trying this place! (I had eye'd it for weeks before coming through.) I strongly advised Mom, Hubbers and Big Bro that we walk because what better way is there to workup an appetite! Our directions said about 25 minutes, but we were about 5 minutes early (ten minutes before opening.) The wait didn't feel that long, though, everything was timed right. Met with Uncle and Auntie and our party of 6 got seated immediately. (We had reservations, but at opening hour, we didn't expect we needed it. More like a just in case thing since they are popular.) I had the chance to browse through the menu and I thought I knew what I wanted, but! I was surprised I wasn't as hungry as I expected even after that mile walk. I knew my party was gonna order apps and also knew the Lobster Marco was going to be too much food. Luckily, Big Bro felt the same and was also eyeing the same dish, so we decided to split it. DRAGO'S ORIGINAL CHARBROILED OYSTERS: An absolute must-have here. It's what they're also known for. The seasoning is not as heavy as some I've already had at other places. The toppings are still rich in flavor but didn't really take away from the main flavor of the oyster. And using bread to absorb all that buttery goodness, it's almost a sin! We all liked it so much, we ordered another... and another! RAW OYSTERS ON THE HALF SHELL: Love me some freshly shucked oyster. I'm not one to really add anything - be it hot sauce or lemon. I like having it as is: fresh and delicious. What I like even more about this is that it had ZERO teenee shell remnants (at least not on the ones I had.) Nice! BOUDIN BALLS: Decent crunch on the outside, super soft on the inside. The crunch really is the only difference but the taste is what one expects. It's easier to eat vs the regular sausage kind, though, so that's a plus. The sauce was a good addition to the bites as well. FRIED GATOR BITES: You ever hear people saying it tastes like chicken? It's pretty close, I think, but I thought there was a slight difference to taste and texture (very slight.) They seasoned the breading nicely on this app. Comes with a mayo dip. Good, but nothing to call home about. LOBSTER MARCO: Unless you plan on having leftovers, try to limit your app intake if you plan on ordering this dish: it is plenty for two! Kinda glad Big Bro and I were splitting it because it really is a lot! The pasta was a perfect al dente. The shrimp and mushroom stuffing were seasoned well with the very light sauce. They were also generous with the size of the lobster which was cooked nicely. CRAWFISH FEST: Shared by another, I got to try a bite of each kind, and each one was different from the other. it's also pretty generous in terms of amount of crawfish meats. This, too, like the Lobster Marco, can be shared with another. FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 5. I forgot the name of our server, but she was perfect! VALUE: 4. Pricey, but fair. PARKING: Located at the Hilton, I'm sure they have valet. OVERALL: 4.75. Good food and good company make a great experience. We sure had the best of both on this first run. It's a great place to celebrate special occasions or just random weeknight date. Highly recommending!

Yelp
The gumbo here tastes good and the tacos are great as well. I personally prefer the tacos more than the gumbo. It was my first time trying gumbo and I really enjoyed it. It had sausage and rice in there, making it a relatively balanced meal. The tacos are not the biggest taco's but it was also my first time trying alligator meat (which tastes great, the rumors were true, it tastes like chicken but a little more textured). The service was fast, and attentive to my water needs. The waiter also recommended their fried oysters which were a specialty of their restaurant but I did not order it since I prefer raw.

Yelp
I love love love the charbroiled oysters! Very very flavorful and it originated from this restaurant, the gator tacos was very delicious too I think this place is a must visit when visiting New Orleans. It's by the river walk and the casino so not far from other tourist spots I recommend getting the oysters for sure and tacos if you're adventurous enough to try alligators

Yelp
Let me get straight to the point. BEST charbroiled oysters I have ever had in my life, so good that I had to come here twice during my time in NOLA. I tried a few other charbroiled oysters in NOLA during my trip to compare, and each time i regret it, I should of just gone back to Drago's for the Charbroiled oysters. First time we sat at the bar and watch the chef in action and charbroiled the oysters. The oysters are juicy, the butter, cheese or whatever they put on the oysters are amazing. Hands down the best charbroiled oysters I have every I had in my life. Drago's a must eat you are ever in NOLA. Heck, I would fly to Nola just to eat the charbroiled oysters at Drago's. I can easily smash 2 dozens of those charbroiled oysters, I am drooling as we speak writing this review. MUST EAT

Yelp
This place was highly recommended. Made reservations. Issues: cold food, wrong order, and to me, the food was just ok. But, that's my opinion. If you're in town, try it.

Yelp
I'm usually skeptical of going to restaurants inside hotels because they're usually overpriced for the food quality. This is not the case for Drago's. We sat at the bar for dinner after a long day at a work conference. The vibe is a mix of modern but flexible; you can fit in whether you're dressed to impress, or if you're just stopping by for a quick bite. The service was good. Our server was very polite but I wouldn't say it was over the top. The food is what made the experience. We had the oysters that were grilled with garlic and butter. You can see the staff grilling the oysters from the bar. They were fabulous! We as had the gator bites. They were good but a little chewy. The duck and andouille sausage gumbo was also very good. I was surprised because duck can be a little greasy, but it gave the gumbo a nice flavor. Lastly, we ended the evening with the bread pudding and was probably the best bread pudding I've had in New Orleans. It was warm and had mix of crunchy and soft textures. All in all, I was very happy with what we ordered. I would definitely come back for the oysters next time I'm in NOLA.

Yelp
Let me tell you first off the food is beyond amazing and full of flavor. First time ever being in New Orleans on my birthday and my wife told me that this is the place to be. The service was excellent and they were help up with any questions that I might have suggested certain dishes like the Original chargrilled Oysters, Fried Gator Bites, and I must have Lobster Marco. The ambience of this restaurant was classy, they played music while we were eating and this will be something to remember for the next time. I'm back in New Orleans. Highly recommend anybody who is in New Orleans or who's planning to go to visit this place.

Yelp
I have stayed at the Hilton every time I have visited NOLA. And Drago's is a must stop. Not only is it convenient, it's delicious too. Its open hours are great especially if you come in late. I typically order the chargrilled oysters and the gumbo. Both are made with incredible spices. They offer to go as well - it was awesome! I have their jambalaya pictured. It was very good. I am a newbie for oysters but it was very flavorful. The gumbo was pretty good as well. Some times I had a smoky after taste but I'm sure it's part of the whole dish. I definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
In a very pretty location, I've been here once before about 7 years ago and we came back because we were in love with the charbroiled oysters. The restaurant looks quite dated as if there was barely any upkeep since we last went. Service was good. Server was attentive and quick. Charbroiled Oysters: Still delicious and very well cooked. Plump and juicy. However, about half our oysters had at least 1 piece of shell. Crawfish Etoufee: was okay. Got quite salty near the end but had decent flavor and a bit of a kick. Gumbo: Too salty for us. Have had better elsewhere. Fried Catfish: Big pieces of fish. Batter was a bit hard for our liking but that's just preference. The fish itself was tender and flakey. Alligator Taco: Great flavour. Great bites. Not deep fried so we can really get the taste and texture of the alligator. Very nice. If I do come back, I probably would just have the oysters and tacos. However, I hope they do a better job at cleaning out the shells so we don't have to spit out half the oyster because we started crunching on some shells.

Yelp
Drago's was not my favorite. Maybe I caught them on a bad night? That's always a possibility, right? My party of 3 had about a 45 minute wait for a table. Once inside the main dining area, I noticed that more than half of the tables were empty. The restaurant actually looked like a tornado had touched down in there! Dirty tables, food and napkins on the floor, chairs in the middle of the aisle, a random walker left alone in the corner of the restaurant. The service matched what I saw. It took the waiter more than 15 minutes to greet the table and even longer to take our order. The food was nothing to write home about! I have nothing to compare the oysters to since it was my first time having them. Sadly, I can't tell you if they're good or bad. The gumbo & chicken w/ pasta all tasted like a frozen meal, and it was extremely salty!! We waited so long for our food, that we really felt like just walking out. This restaurant is inside of the Hilton hotel so I was really shocked when I saw the condition of the main dining area. Although this restaurant was recommended to me, I can not recommend it to others!!

Yelp
Charbroiled oysters all day everyday. Some of the best we had in New Orleans, hands down. A bit salty, but otherwise, sheer perfection. I can't speak to the rest of the menu or the service in the restaurant, I only ever sit at the bar. Some draft beers would be a plus, but this is going on my forever list for New Orleans.

Yelp
We are staying at the attached hotel and have been here twice cuz it was so good. First evening we had Shrimp Creole The Mediterranean salad with a TON of snow crab Short Rib with spinach and mashed The cocktails were great. I enjoyed the Swamp Water. Our second visit just two of us, we ordered The catfish platter and the shrimp platter. Vines with fries and a couple large onion rings. We split our meals and had a large piece of fish and 5 pretty large fried shrimp each. We had a couple more Swamp Waters. Lol The service was great. We sat in the bar area and every bartender was awesome. There are lo s of tables and the main restaurant is open to another one in the hotel so it's a bit noisy. Not unbearably so. The bar area was a bit quieter. I would recommend checking them out if in the area!

Yelp
Bathrooms and parking available. Great service. They do have a gluten free menu. Their oysters are GF and ARE AMAZING!!!! The best in downtown New Orleans that I tried. My coworker used to live there and he says it's the best in new Orleans. i also had alligator bites and those were also very very good and gf Cool restaurant very nice. It can be a dressy affair or a more casual spot. Pretty great location too. Our server was lovely.

Yelp
We recently visited Dragos in New Orleans. Disappointed to say the least. A little more char than we were expecting.

Yelp
The good, gator bites, cheese cake The ok, chargrilled oysters The bad, shrimp Ruth, shrimp had no flavor, rice was cold and crunchy but the spinach was warm and good. Coffee was super strong . $120.00 for a disappointing meal

Yelp
The oysters alone here, deserve 5 stars. Hands down some of the best oysters I've had, ever ! They use the freshest oysters and make sure each plate is done the right way with extra garlic butter. The oysters are memorable. But the étouffée was good too. Their staff and servers are very welcoming especially Sirius. He went over and beyond to make our evening memorable for Valentine's Day. You "Must" try the oysters here if you are ever In NOLA !

Yelp
Dropped in due to recommendation. Sat at the bar. Had huge glass of wine. And ordered the crab au gratin. Wow. It was a killer appetizer. Lots of crab meat. Worth the trip.

Yelp
The charbroiled oysters are AMAZING! Definitely the best oysters we had in our visit. We tried a mardi Rita and a hurricane for drinks; both were extremely sweet in my opinion. We also had the seafood gumbo and fried shrimp for dinner. The entrees felt a bit bland. Overall, service was great and we'll definitely be back for the oysters!

Yelp
Our cousin, Sonia, lives in NYC and a coworker from New Orleans told her about Drago's. So, while she visited us in Memphis, we did four days in New Orleans and celebrated her birthday at Drago's. They only take reservations for large groups of 12 or more, but don't let that discourage you. Our party of 5 was seated in less than 5 minutes on a busy Tuesday night. Our Server (Paul) was VERY Attentive, Engaging, and he made our cousin's birthday celebration SPECIAL! The food was FANTASTIC, especially their Charbroiled Oysters (they can be addictive) and they NAILED my favorite Creole dish (Crawfish Etouffee)!!!

Yelp
Take it or leave it. No wait which was nice. It's very specious with lots of seating options. The staff were all very friendly. We ordered gator bite app, they were really nicely seasoned and proportioned with a great dipping sauce. Steak and half lobster were decently cooked and seasoned, lobster was okay, not the greatest texture/cook. Seafood pasta was decent but HUGE portion and A LOT of cheese. Fried shrimp platter was lack luster. Shrimp was cooked fine but not hot, fries were ice cold. When staff was notified of cold fries, it was not addressed or taken care of. Gator tacos- cook and tortilla was good, the sauce drizzled on top was on odd sweet creamy sauce, would love something different..the pico was filled with jalapeños which I was unaware of and they were HOT. It made the tacos inedible past the gator pieces.
