DragonEats SoMa Review - Soma - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"DragonEats is the SoMa lunch destination for the days when you feel like another soup-salad combination from Ladle & Leaf will turn you into kale and send you over the edge. The counter-service Vietnamese mini-chain (with locations in Hayes Valley and the Haight) does solid bánh mì that cater well to the lanyard-wearing office crowd—everything is to-go, and the midday rush moves quickly. Go for the roast pork version with a generous amount of jalapeños and pickled carrots and daikon, and one of the extra-strong iced coffees to get you through your impending 3pm slump." - Julia Chen

DragonEats Review - Hayes Valley - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"DragonEats in Hayes Valley is where to go for quick bánh mì. Their takeout operation is streamlined, so expect to receive your well-stuffed five spices chicken, sardine, or roasted duck bánh mì faster than you can say bánh mì five times fast. This small, to-go only spot (indoor is closed for now) also serves fresh vermicelli bowls with teriyaki tofu, pork meatball, and roasted pork, plus fresh salads and spring rolls. They have other locations in Rincon Hill and the Haight." - Lani Conway

The Best Takeout in SF - Eater SF

"Parents hate taking their kids to the orthodontist as much as kids hate going. I say this as both a past metal-mouth and current mother of one. Pre-COVID, I’d ease my appointment pain by going to 20th Century Cafe conveniently around the corner. But now it’s sadly closed, so the other mid-day, starving, with 60 minutes to kill, I started wandering in search of my new happy meal. I wasn’t in the mood for Souvla or a whole sit-down to-do, I just wanted something good to eat. And suddenly, I found myself on Gough street, looked up, and there it was. Dragon Eats. Sold! On the sardine banh mi: the soft baguette was crammed with shredded pickled carrots and onion, cucumbers, sprigs of cilantro, rings of jalapeno, and — blissfully— fat hunks of oily fish. Best $8 I’ve spent in San Francisco in a while. See you in six weeks Dragon Eats." - Eater Staff

Google
Very quick and delicious! Got a teriyaki tofu bowl which was YUM. If you are vegetarian make sure to ask for soy sauce as a replacement instead of fish sauce. Highly recommend! Note: has peanuts in it in case anyone is allergic. But looked like it was just a topping so could ask for it without

Great snack with duck, cilantro and jalapeno sandwich. Low calorie and healthy food. Fast and tasty, fresh aromatic greens. I really like this cafe.

Google
We ordered roasted pork and roasted duck sandwiches. They both are very tasty and have signature pastes. The buns are well toasted and just have enough crunchiness. The rolls are also good, very fresh. Highly recommended.

Google
Best Banh Mi I've had. We ordered the roasted duck and assorted meats, there was twice as much meat than the usual sandwhich and super tasty. Great value!

Google
This may have been the greatest bowl of soup of all time. Heaven and health in a bowl for $3.50? I can die everyday here!

Google
Wonderful take out restaurant with a tiny space that has a few high chairs to eat on the premises. Two basic foods done extremely well; ban mi and salad bowls!! We had a 5 spiced chicken salad bowl and the spicy pork ban mi and both were exceptional and tasty. Total cost was $22! So if you want a quick and cheap bite, look no further as this is the place!

Google
These are my favorite banh mi's in The Bay. You truly can't go wrong with anything but my go-to is always the roasted pork and the duck one if they haven't already ran out of it by the time I get there. The bread is also top tier. They're also very efficient with their process. There's not much seating at this location so it's best to order and go eat somewhere else.

Google
Best Bahn mi I’ve ever had in my life. Everything about this sandwich hit the spot, fresh bread, fresh veggies, and the chicken was 1 of 1. I love the quaint atmosphere and friendly people that work here. I’m about to order another one soon as they open

Yelp
Have now eaten here twice in 2 days for lunch. So delicious, had the chicken and the tofu sandwiches. Second time around just the tofu - spectacular! Only complaint is I wish I could get more hot peppers. Would love to post pictures, but couldn't wait to eat

Yelp
This is my favorite no frills spot for a consistently great banh mi. The meat is always juicy and well marinated, the ratio of pickled veggies and jalapeño is perfect for non spice sadists, and the bread has just enough crunch without flaking all over you with every bite. Pro tip: the roasted duck is bomb.com. Yumminess: A Aesthetics: B Service: B Price to Value: A

Yelp
Ok so I rarely leave bad reviews because I honestly hate to do it, but I just had to. I was at UCSF and after leaving to head home across the bridge, I wanted a quick bite to eat. I was in the mood for Bahn Mi. I googled and saw the amazing reviews here. We found parking out front. There was a line out the door. All good signs, or so I thought. We ordered the pork Bahn Mi and two diet cokes. Very sweet woman taking the order and we tipped her 15%. Looked a bit run down and dirty in the back... Saw an older woman in the kitchen eating with her hands. No big deal, maybe a bit unsanitary but I like home made food. Some of the best is made by Grandmother types! We wait for the order as people lined up. About 10 minutes later our order was ready. I was so hungry I dove right in sitting at the little seating area. Right away I knew something was off. The meat was sort of grey, incredibly oily, and the bread was already soggy with "juice". It looked boiled? Then the smell. Sort of rancid. I took a few more small bites trying to get it down. My partner (who has an iron stomach and insatiable hunger) ate half his sandwich before we both looked at each other and wrapped the rest up to leave. I didn't want to wait in line to say anything. On the way home I ended up throwing up a bit. No joke. My partner said his stomach was in knots. We got home and tossed the rest (basically 1 and a half sandwiches) in the trash. We usually get the Bahn Mi at Monster Pho in Oakland. It's always grilled to perfection and so fresh. This was just an off putting and confusing experience based on all the reviews and the long line... sadly, we won't be back.

Yelp
I like the food here. This is a comment on management. Arrived here at 5:55, closes at 6pm. There were a few people waiting. The gentleman at the counter said, that's it, they're not taking anymore orders. It's a sandwich and takes 5 minutes to make....if I were the owner of the place I would make it a policy to serve every customer who walks in the door before closing time.
google avatar

Brittany K.

Yelp
I regularly get either the fresh bowl (add papaya and cabbage) or the green salad (add rice noodles) -- they basically end up being the same -- with chicken and fish sauce. It's so consistent and is always delicious and fresh. One of my favorite salads!
google avatar

Parita A.

Yelp
Yummy semi hole-in-the-wall place! Great banh mi that can be made vegan. The tofu was delicious and seasoned well. Service was quick and efficient. To make the banh mi vegan they omitted the mayo but I do think it would taste even better with some sort of vegan mayo option.

Yelp
Best bahn mi I've had since moving to California. The service was so speedy and the roast duck bahn mi was to die for. Perfect veggie, meat, and cilantro ratio with delicious bread. There was quickly a line behind us but they handled it amazingly. It's a little shop that packs in a lot of seating and I would love to have their food again.
google avatar

Yelp
The absolute best banh mi in sf. Better than the tenderloin place. Get duck with extra pork belly. Delicious bread, meat, picked veggies and sauce
google avatar

Yelp
I think I'd try the banh mis next time; the bowl was decent but this place looks more known for its banh mis
google avatar

Yelp
Props for the parking lot right next to this place. I came here to grab a quick bite to eat. I noticed the menu was not your typical Vietnamese sandwich spot where they offer the cold meat options, but hey I'll still always find what I like. I wanted to try their duck sandwich since that was something unique that I've never seen at other sandwich spots, but sadly they ran out of duck. I ordered the roasted pork and everything about this sandwich was just ok. It is the city so prices are inflated to accommodate the location. It was good but nothing special. Staff were friendly and there is a small counter with a stool for you to sit down and eat if you wanted to. If you're in the area and need a quick bite to eat and you want a banh mi, this place will do.

Yelp
Reliable Spot for Delicious Banh Mi! I'm a big fan of Dragoneats, especially their Hayes location! The banh mi sandwiches are consistently tasty, with the garlic chicken breast and roasted duck being my top picks. The prices are reasonable, ranging from $10-$12 per sandwich. One of the highlights of my experience is the addition of the soup, which is a flavorful ginger chicken broth packed with kale, lime juice, shallots, and cilantro. The poignant flavors complement the sandwich perfectly, making for a satisfying meal. While I haven't ventured to try the bowls or rolls yet, I appreciate the reliability of Dragoneats. If you're looking for a good deal, you might want to explore other options like Saigon Sandwich on Larkin (though be prepared for tricky parking!). Overall, Dragoneats is a solid choice for a tasty and filling meal. Recommended for: Banh mi lovers, reliable food spot Price range: $10-$12 per sandwich Tips: Add the soup to your order, try the garlic chicken breast or roasted duck, and consider parking options at the Hayes location.

Yelp
I decided to try out the duck banh mi at Dragon eats as a quick lunch when I was in Hayes valley, and was absolutely amazed by the quality of the banh mi's. The banh mi was roughly $11 and the duck was tender, juicy and perfectly sweetened with plum sauce while the bread was toasted and crunchy. There were also some jalapeños and cilantro for a little bit of spice and greens to balance out the fatty duck! Highly recommend checking out this little shop for high quality banh mi!
google avatar

Yelp
I would come back for a quick cheap lunch, the five spice chicken had no hint of five spice-- but it was tasty. the fresh bowl was just enough food for me-- fresh tasting, and nuoc cham provided more than enough flavor. Service was friendly and quick. It seems everyone comes for the duck banh mi, but eating too much duck as a child deters me from trying this apparent go to sandwich here.
google avatar

Jeffrey C.

Yelp
Amazing banh mi at reasonable prices. Good fresh rolls too. A no-frills counter service lunch option that's so good -- it's part of my rotation every time I come to SF for work.
google avatar

Destiny M.

Yelp
My go to for affordable lunch and quality lunch in the area. I like the teriyaki tofu banh mi which come with carrot, jalapeño, cucumber, and mayo. The jalapeño itself typically is on the hotter side which compliments the sandwich well. The service is good and the food comes out fairly fast. With that said, there's not too much space in the store so I typically don't sit and eat there. Would recommend for a quick and good bite!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a cute spot to fulfill your banh mi cravings near the many thrift shops in Haight-Ashbury! Their banh mi's are reasonably priced around $10, and they also have a couple bowls/spring rolls. The service is super quick and there are a few tables/a bar for you to eat at. I tried the classic roasted pork banh mi and the roasted pork bowl. The banh mi had a generous filling portion with the meat being super flavorful, and the pickled vegetables pulling it all together. What stood out was the meat seasoning. The bowl was pretty similar, just deconstructed and with rice instead of bread. Was it mindblowing? No, but for the price, taste, and quick/friendly service I'd come back!
google avatar

Ray B.

Yelp
The sandwich is good but needs to be more authentic, i.e., Saigon Sandwich. One dead giveaway is the bread; it's not authentic banh mi bread, but it's still pretty good. BB
google avatar

Kiana L.

Yelp
I have had both the chicken & pork banh mi. I love this place - the bread is perfect, the pate is AMAZING, & the amount of veggies & meat is just right. It's about $11 per banh mi, so reasonably priced. The service is great & fairly quick! The Thai tea is also very rich and sweet. Highly recommend this place. It gets crowded during lunch so I would order online in advance - the only downside is that you have to order from their website rather than doordash or grubhub.

Yelp
When it comes to Vietnamese fast food // banh mi, this place is ranked #1 as my go-to in SF. It's a solid spot for Vietnamese takeout! I personally love the duck banh mi when I can get it (sometimes the duck runs out) and the Vietnamese iced coffee. I've also tried spring rolls, rice noodles, and banh mi. All are relatively high quality and well-prepared. There's not much seating if any, but there's a parklet where you can stand out front. It's better for grab-and-go (takeout materials are solid fwiw).
google avatar

Yelp
This place does not use lees premix for their coffee. Which is a huge plus's and five bucks isn't too bad.

Yelp
Walked here from market street! Was greeted by the worker at the register. Love the vibes, extremely friendly & hospitable. Ambiance is casual, not too loud. Place is a bit small, though there are some seats both inside and outside. Ordered a roasted pork, 5 spiced chicken banh mi & their soup of the day (chicken broth w kale & other things) along with 2 Viet coffees. All of which were very good. Was surprised that the soup of the day actually tasted good considering it was basically a vegetable soup. I was very impressed! Both of the banh mis were so good that we got a third one (the sardine) which was also good. Would have loved to try the roast duck one, though they were unfortunately out of roast duck :[ I definitely felt welcome here & would come back again! From great food to great vibes, this is a definitely a place whose menu Id want to explore further!
google avatar

Yelp
Got their soup while waiting for a friend. Very reasonable priced at $3.5 for a good size bowl. Very flavorful and hit the spot. Would try a sandwich next time I'm in the area.
google avatar

Susy C.

Yelp
$12 total ($10 + $2 tip) for the tiniest tofu "bowl" The photos here are deceiving, it ought to be false advertising for the SOUP CUP of vermicelli you get. I finished in 3-4 bites as it wasn't even filled up halfway. Sadly lacked flavor, even with fish sauce. I guess this place is acceptable for banh mi from what it looks like, but I wouldn't know. Trek further if you want Vietnamese food.
google avatar

Yelp
Reminders that the only constant in life is change; it is humanly impossible to know whether or not something is inherently good or bad until you look back in time and reflect on the entirety of the situation. The unpredictability of it all is perhaps what makes the human experience distinct. On that note, I happened upon Dragoneats while exploring the streets of Haight and Ashbury. After walking for what seemed like miles through SF, I decided to stop by Dragoneats since it was affordable and had fairly balanced food options (meats, veggies, and bread). Upon walking in, I noticed how small but clean the place was. I went with their Five Spices Chicken Banh Mi, which came with a generous amount of tender, marinated chicken; an abundance of pickled carrots and radish; pretty spicy jalapeños and fresh cilantro; and a delicious sauce that was on the creamy side. The bread itself was perfectly soft on the inside and nicely crispy on the outside. $10ish for a Banh Mi is on the pricier end, but not a bad meal for SF-standards.

Andrew G.

Yelp
Highly recommend the pork and tofu banh mi, absolutely delicious, hands down the best in SF!
google avatar

Ruby C.

Yelp
Needed a quick lunch while exploring Hayes Valley and decided to try this spot. Placed an order online and by the time we walked over it was basically ready for pick up. I got the roast duck banh mi and my boyfriend got the chicken banh mi. The roast duck was amazing, super flavorful and they did not skimp on the fillings! The pickled veggies and jalapeños complimented the meat perfectly. The chicken one was also good but I think the duck was a lot better! There isn't a ton of seating and it's definitely more of a grab and go option. There are several locations too so just make sure you're ordering at the right one.

Nicolas M.

Yelp
The meatball banh mi is a must have. Great prices. Ideal for a quick lunch to go! Great flavors all around.
google avatar

Yelp
Best tofu seasoning in the Bay Area. I had become disenchanted with Vegan food establishments, this was far better than I expected.
google avatar

Gabe Y.

Yelp
Seriously the best banh mi we've had. Loved the pickled veggies. The place was small but very cute and nice people.
google avatar

Vanessa O.

Yelp
Decent grab-and-go banh mi sandwiches, on "colorful" Haight St. ~$9 each, with long jalapeño slivers rather than circles (props, as slivers should be how every place slices their jalapeño for ease of eating in a sandwich). Decent amount of filling, including plenty of cilantro, cucumber and pickled carrots and diakons, however the pork meat was super fatty--thicker slices (not shredded), that were literally at least half fat. Hubby said the 5-spice chicken was better. Bread was soft inside but just a touch too hard on the outside. If in the area, it's an easy lunch picnic food. Be forewarned that I've seen my fair share of nude pedestrians here in the past and alot of trash and people sitting/sprawled out on the sidewalk today, so it's definitely not a family scene. I happened to find parking super close on a side street, but still had to walk around a ton of trash, including large feces. Not sure if it was dog, but I wouldn't put it past being human. So, watch where you step.

Yelp
This place is around the corner from work which is such a blessing. I've been craving banh mi nonstop and luckily, not only is DragonEats close by, it's SOO GOOD. There is an order ahead option on their website, but when I had my craving, it wasn't working. I definitely recommend ordering ahead if you plan to eat during the 12 o clock hour because that line can get LONG. I wanted a roasted duck banh mi but to my dismay, they were out. The kind man at the register suggested the meatball banh mi instead. Meatballs?! I didn't want meatballs but who am I to doubt an employees recommendation. He said, if you like flavor, get the meatballs. And boy was he right! The meatball banh mi was so tender, juicy, and flavorful! I cherished that sandwich for the next 2 hours at my desk. With each bite I thought, man, I'm gonna be so sad when this is over. 5/5 stars would recommend. I went again this time to try the elusive roasted duck banh mi. Sad to say it wasn't nearly as good as the meatball. Less meat, kind of dry, and the veggies to meat ratio was not great. I felt like I was eating a garden sandwich. But let that not deter you from visiting this establishment. Yes the food is around ~$10 but this is SF in a nice neighborhood so unless you wanna take the trek into the TL, let them take your money.

Yelp
Hidden under a parking structure in Hayes Valley, this unassuming store makes some of the best banh mis I've ever eaten! They don't have the traditional cold cut/pate variety, but the grilled pork is just flavorful enough and paired with a heaping of pickled veggies. I'm most impressed with the bread - so chewy and doesn't rip the roof of your mouth by the time you've finished eating. This location has very minimal seating indoors and a small parklet with additional tables. The workers are reallly sweet even though there aren't many of them (only 1 front of house) to deal with the lunch rush.

Charles B.

Yelp
I come here now and then for my Banh Mi fix. Mostly I get either the Tofu Terayaki or the Sardine (canned, but good), but I've also enjoyed the Roasted Duck Banh Mi and the tofu bowl as well and they're all consistently quite good. The pickled veggies really make it. Service is efficient and friendly, and they'll leave stuff out on request (I don't do mayo). Anyway, I'd give them a 4.5 for the food. Zero ambiance to speak of, a few counter seats inside, and a few chairs and a stand-up parklet out front with traffic going by on the other side of the wall panels. But I'm rounding my rating up to 5 because of their business practices. Like most other food places, they've had to raise their prices. But what puts them above the rest is that there's no surprises. They upped the prices on their printed menu at least a few weeks before they actually put the higher prices into effect! And I'm pretty sure that's happened at least once before. I hate when places increase their prices but don't update the menu to match. This is the opposite. I love their food and I love their business practices. And yes, their Banh Mi is still well worth what they're charging for it.
google avatar

Francisco C.

Yelp
Ask for extra jalepenos and got what I'm sure was the normal amount. Sandwich was good, but getting light ice would draw you back 1" of Vietnamese coffee with plenty ice. plenty seating!!!
google avatar

Terence T.

Yelp
Pretty quick service. I got shrimp roll and a chicken banh mi. The shrimp roll was tasty and peanut sauce on the side. Not as much shrimp as I would like however. Chicken banh mi was good, bread wasn't crusty enough to scrape off the top of my mouth but the flavour was great. Chicken was a tad stringy/dry but the sauce did make up for it. A solid place to eat with both items being $9 pre tax it's a good deal
google avatar

Alex N.

Yelp
Summary: If you want a standard banh mi, this place might not be for you as they have a slightly elevated, non-traditional take. I pass their memorable bright-green takeaway stand often when I am in SF. While I might pass on soup next time, the sandwiches were fresh, flavorful, and filling. Note, they can pack a punch in terms of heat for those averse to spicy! Good: I love duck - and I think the flavor they packed into my sandwich was well done. Moist, savory, and browned sweetness. These sandwiches strayed from the standard mayo for sweet chili sauces and drippings from the roasted meats. While I do love mayo in the drivers seat, these dressings worked just as well. A single sandwich was pretty satisfying, even for my appetite. Bad: I think I would have liked to have seen the sandwich prices a little bit lower. We also bougjt some soup because it was a chilly day, but we felt it lacked in comparison to the sandwiches. I am also not a stranger to spice, but the Jalepenos they used really kicked my butt. Ugly: Nothing to note!

A C.

Yelp
So disappointing! I ordered the garlic chicken spring rolls which contained barely any chicken! At first I thought they'd accidentally forgotten to add the meat, but upon closer inspection I saw that there was a very light smear of chicken. (Did the kitchen run out and just not tell the cashier?!) No chunks of chicken, no meat visible from the outside of the roll (as is typical with the shrimp rolls), just lots of lettuce and some noodles. As a result it was a bland unsatisfying waste of money. I would have returned and brought it to the restaurant's attention but I'd already taken the food to a picnic before opening the box to discover the issue. The three stars are for the quick service, the tasty peanut sauce that came with the rolls, and the really affordable pricing. I assume they made a mistake and the food is probably good :/

Yelp
This is one of my quick and easy go-to lunch spots in the Hayes Valley area. There's usually a small line out the door, so be prepared for a 5-10 minute wait. They don't have seating, but they have a standing patio area where you can enjoy your takeout. For less than $10, you can get a salad, bowl, or banh mi. I've always gotten the roasted chicken, which is soooo flavorful. They're super generous with their salads, a ton of chicken is included. Super fresh ingredients and delicious food, amazing service, and super affordable. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Lisa X.

Yelp
Yum, easy, fast, convenient, and fairly inexpensive (Hayes Valley standards) lunch option. Right now, it's still takeout only. Before the pandemic, you can sit inside but I almost always do takeout as it gets busy here and the space is not that big. I really like their shrimp fresh rolls because they taste fresh, fills me up and isn't greasy. Of course, as mentioned by other Yelp friends, this is not comparable to what you will get if you trek your way into the TL.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered Pork Banh Mi which totaled to be $9.78. This was my first time here at DragonEats. Disclaimer that this is take-out only, no seating is available to eat inside. I decided to get Pork, even though I would usually get duck, because this place has more reviews on the pork and chicken banh mi's, and not so much on the duck. I thought the banh mi was really good, the pork was a bit greasy and my bread was a little soggy because all the grease, but the flavors are all there. Compared to Cafe Bunn Mi on Clement St., DragonEats definitely has a smaller sandwich. I was able to eat the enter banh mi byself at dragoneats, but cafe bunn mi is definitely shareable. For less than $10, a great lunch that will definitely keep you filled. I will come back to try to the duck bahn mi, but they also have a lot of other items like spring rolls, rice bowls, and a Vietnamese iced coffee I'm very intrigued by. All in all, a solid lunch spot.
google avatar

Yelp
I was craving a banh mi on a Saturday afternoon and had been eyeing DragonEats for a while, so I placed an online order and then headed to the restaurant to pick it up. The restaurant's takeout only; they have a parklet with standing room and a few chairs lined up next to the door. When I arrived for my online order, it seemed like they started preparing it after I told them my name. It was out within a few minutes and was warm and fresh. I got the roasted pork banh mi, which was loaded with fresh veggies, pate, and mayo. The pork was moist and flavorful. For less than $10, it was a filling meal and satisfied my banh mi craving. I've heard it's not the *most* authentic you can get in the city, but it was so good - I'll definitely come back!

Yelp
Get the bbq pork bahn mi it didn't disappoint the bread is so fresh and the meat tasted so good and tender with the pickled veggies had the perfect bite

Yelp
Delicious Bahn Mi sandwiches for a great price! I usually make my way here every other week for a nice filling and tasty, and relatively cheap lunch. Be aware that the line can get long around noon during the week (shows how popular they are!) but at least the line moves at a good pace. I've tried the five spice chicken, pork, and duck bahn mi sandwiches and all have been great. I'm personally partial to the chicken, but the other two are delicious as well. They pack the sandwiches well so it's a great spot to order some food to have on a hike! I will continue going here- would recommend!
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this spot as I want to support local humble businesses, but there were a couple improvements to be made. The bread was not that crunchy but soft French baguette.. it was a bit stale. The pickles didn't have the vinegary pickled taste, perhaps it wasn't pickled long enough. It honestly tasted more like Chinese food with the deep barbecue pork and soy flavor that lacked more of the acidity of vietnamese food. The staff are nice here and service is quick. There is some bar seating available, but it is a relatively small space.
google avatar

Julie N.

Yelp
Saw this small unassuming place on our walk through Haight and decided to give it a try. Place is very no frilla- walk up and order at the counter, find your own seat. Service was extremely quick- food was ready in about 5 minutes. We both got Thai iced teas and 5 spice chicken banh mis (although the duck looked really good). The banh mi was excellent- crispy bread, stuffed with veggies and dark meat chicken (making it more savory) and light on the sauce, which is what I prefer. Probably one of the best banh mis I've had! Thai iced tea was also good. Overall highly recommend!

Amy Z.

Yelp
One of my favorite banh mi spots I've tried in the bay! The banh mi's are reasonably priced, filled with fresh veggies and a good amount of meat, and perfect for a quick lunch. Unfortunately they were out of duck when I went, but the five spice chicken was delicious. Will be back!

Yelp
This is my go-to lunch spot in the area! I probably come here once a week. Here's what I've ordered: - Roasted pork banh mi (5/5) - HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This is my usual order. The bread is the perfect texture, toppings are tasting, the pork is tender and flavorful, and the staff definitely don't skimp on the meat! - 5 spice chicken banh mi (4.5/5): Very tasty, but I still prefer the roasted pork banh mi. - Roasted duck banh mi (4/5) - I usually really like duck and had high hopes for this. While the flavors were there, I just thought the duck here was a bit too greasy for my liking. There's also slightly less meat in this than in other banh mi. - 5 spice chicken fresh bowl (3.5/5) - This bowl wasn't as filling as a banh mi and not as flavorful. While Dragoneats fresh bowls are just fine, the real winner here is the banh mi. Note that this is a casual grab-and-go place with no indoor dining, although there is some outdoor counter space built out by the street to allow you to eat there (standing up). There's usually a line if you come around 12-12:40pm on a weekday, but it moves fast. During lunchtime, the total wait time in line + waiting for my order is usually only around 5-10 minutes.

Yelp
Dragoneats had very tasty banh mi sandwiches. While these aren't the best ones I've had, the flavor and consistency are top notch when taking the price into account as well. The ease of access to this restaurant, or the other branches, makes it an easy choice for lunch. I got the pork banh mi, and they really filled it up for me. The veggies were nice and crisp, the pork savory, and the buns nicely toasted. Would recommend for anyone craving banh mis in the area.

Yelp
Loved the tofu banh mi - the bread was fresh and veggies were crisp. Perfect takeout on our way out of city
