What a fun place to hang out. After taking a 2 hour walk around town we decided to make a pit stop at Drake's. Thankfully we walked and didn't have to look and pay for parking. You even have to pay on a Sunday. The place was really hopping. Not too busy that it was crowed, but plenty of people to keep it lively. The line to get drinks was only 2 people deep when we were in line. Later it was around 8 people deep. The line is slow due to people have so many questions on there vast supply of beer, all in house made. Other people want samples, which they graciously give, but it all slows down the line. They don't serve root beer so I got a ginger ale. It comes with unlimited refills, but you have to stand in the drink line, which I didn't find worth it. One glass was really enough for the short time we spent there.
This day they had a food tent. It was around bit pricy, but for the ambiance it was worth it. For $25 you get a generous helping of brisket, mac and cheese, roasted asparagus, and a roll. All fresh and delicious. The portions were really generous so that made it plenty to share between 2 people. I'd order it again. They also had tri-tip, chicken, and hot links as your Protein. The sides were coleslaw, or some others. I can't remember them all. The asparagus was perfectly cooked. Tender, but not soggy. I loved it.
There was plenty of seating. All of the fire pit seating was taken by large groups, so no s'mores for us. I really would have loved to score a fire pit seat, but then it would have been difficult to eat our meal. It was better on a picnic table to really share the meal.
All in all it was a great stop on our journey. There were tons of dogs there, so if you have a big dog this is the place to be. I highly recommend this place as a great place for an outing.
