Portland's old homes can make fine hangouts where each room has its vibe for the community in the moment. This small house has a lovely front porch, the main floor with tables, the bar, and able kitchen, and a few rooms upstairs with a DJ nook and a variety of seating arrangements.
Dream House is what was Beech Street Parlor.
They have some specialty cocktails, wine, and beer. The menu is divided into small plates and big plates. I had the vegan meatballs small plate. It was a stiff, guessing soy, meatball, a complex marinara, and a nut- or seed-based sweet red pepper-miso sauce which was very tasty as garnish. I need to experiment with that sauce at home!
On my visit, I chatted with the founders who were working, and found them friendly and happy to tell the story of the space.
The old business has been missed; the new business is starting nightly DJs. They are starting up with a lot of community cred.
