The Ride-Along Report: First Takes From Last Night’s Dinner

"What It Is: A meat-heavy restaurant in DTLA with a bunch of offal on the menu Perfect For: Adventurous Eating This Spring St. spot is an interesting new DTLA dinner option. The food - including a truly enormous $120 tomahawk steak - is pretty good. But the service is overbearing, the metal stools and white tiled walls feel pretty generic, and the meat-heavy menu is a bit all over the place. There’s everything from fantastic chicken liver mousse to beef heart tartare to a pretty straightforward burger. The Verdict: This place is a bit confusing. The space is casual, but the menu is full of stuff you’d expect to eat on a big night out. If your priority is trying a new spot downtown, maybe bring an adventurous eater or get there for their weeknight Happy Hour." - jess basser sanders, brant cox, brett keating

Best kabobs downtown! Food is always fresh, juicy and delicious. Staff is super accommodating and kind. I crave this place when I’m out of town. 🙏🏽

Google

Google
Super friendly staff. They know how to treat customers. Very nice and clean. Lots of food selections. We bought four different dishes and everything was super yummy. I definitely recommend this place.

Another one in the books!!! A must try Kabob place , you cant go wrong with any plate or sandwich. Once you have the first bite with an explosion of flavors of spices and herbs you cant stop. And trust me you wont want to stop!!! On top of the quality of the food the customer service is Exceptional the young man that helped us was very detailed and very knowledgeable of the menu. He explained the difference variety of the menu to my wife and myself as our mouth was watering and would have loved trying everything on the menu but there is always a next time and they have earned my business. I will go ahead a place a catering order for the company that I work with and they will Love this place. Highly recommend for you and see the Amazing items on their menu.

Google
I ordered #10 (Beef Kabab with Rice). The Kabab turned out to be nice and juicy but the portion does not justify the price. They only take cash, the give price is 15.50$ plus tax turned out to be 17$. Tables and washroom wasn't clean. WATCH OUT #30 Beef Gyro Wrap is not Halal meat. I don't think i'll go back.

Google
Lived in the middle east for many years so Im familiar with the taste of a good kebab, this is so far the best Mediterranean restaurant I've tried in LA! Reasonably priced and the food taste is authentic. Friendly owner and staff! Will definitely recommend and come back

Google
Dream Kebab may look unassuming, but the food is consistent and top notch. Growing up eating Irani food, has really given me quite high standards when it comes to this cuisine; and Dream Kebab really excels at being comfort food at an affordable price. The owners are friendly and hardworking, the portions are generous and the flavors hit the spot

Google
Good food, in decent portions. The kebab pictured on the menu had a stick, the actual meal did not. The main problem with this restaurant is that they only accept cash, and do not give you a receipt. Somehow $33.00 for food plus a bottle of water came to exactly $40.00. This is informal, inaccurate and give the impression of "cash accounting" off the books and avoidance of any record of sales tax or income. There are no prices posted for the drinks, nor are customers informed of how their tab was calculated.

Yelp
I had lunch at Dream Kabob House and the #6 chicken combo was delicious. I highly recommend it. The service was great too.

Yelp
I've been reading reviews for this place and it's right around the corner from where I live so I decided to give it a try. Loved it! Chicken thigh plate with salad to keep it light. Most tender chicken thighs I think I've ever had. The hummus was so tasty - not too garlicky and went with the chicken and kidney beans perfectly. The thin pita bread was also delicious. Didn't want to feel heavy or bloated after lunch and this hit the spot! Guys behind the counter were also great. They only take cash but there's an atm at the front and they only charge $1.99 so that's reasonable. Lunch and drink for less than $20!! I'm coming back!

Yelp
Whenever I'm in DTLA. I try to make a trip here. Love Persian food and these guys do the koobideh the best. Restaurant is clean, bathroom could be cleaner. But great service and overall experience.

Yelp
Bad customer service!!! Horrible. Trying to order and they hung up my call. The guy was getting frustrated and was trying to place.
google avatar

Karina T.

Yelp
The best Mediterranean food in DTLA. So fresh, nourishing, best flavors. The man who grills and makes your plates is a medicine man bc this food gives life!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is worth every cent. I will drive that hour away just to eat here. I cannot lie just recently I tried somewhere new because they were closed due to an Armenian holiday and let's just say I will never eat anywhere else again when I'm craving persian food, there was no comparison to the way they prepare their chicken, it is so good. I just had some yesterday and I'm tempted to have some again today due to pregnancy cravings haha. I would not hesitate to eat here if I were you. I try to eat here if not once or twice a month while I'm downtown shopping for fabrics for my business. Check them out you will not regret it.

Yelp
Amazing food highly recommended. Been in this area for 15 years and this might be the best kabob house I tried. Customer service is exceptional!!
google avatar

Mila E.

Yelp
OK, it's not only good, it's so good that after sitting down to take a few bites before I went on my way, I ordered more to take home with me! Hummus is so creamy and smooth, everything so fresh and made right in front of you -- and it's obvious with so much heart and love. Roman was so kind and waited patiently for me to decide (bc everything looked so good!) and got everything to me so quickly. I tried a few other kabob places since moving to dtla and they were good, but Dream Kabob blows every other one out of the water in taste and affordability. In addition, Vahikh (the owner) has amazing taste in music. I danced thru my whole meal! I can't recommend highly enough you give this gem a try. You won't regret it! :)

Yelp
Delicious, family owned, fast, fresh. Eat here with my friend and had pleasurable experience.

Yelp
I've been driving by this place for the last ten years and finally decided to have lunch here today. Man oh man this place is the Real Deal .As soon as You walk in You can see how clean the floors ...the tables ...the walls and cooking area is kept so clean . You are Greeted by the owner who's also the Chef and his Employee with Great Customer Service who explains the menu items. I ordered the chicken and steak Kabobs which were cooked just like I ordered medium well and let me tell You it was very delicious. The rice was perfect as well . If you love Kabob's I highly recommend You visit. I give them Five stars.I need to revisit soon. Thanks Dream Kabob House.

Navin W.

Yelp
Fantastic kabobs, flavorful food, good service. Subtracting one star because they have a boombox hanging from the front door playing music way, WAY too loud. Like unnecessarily loud. Like "did I just leave a concert because there is ringing in my ears?" loud. Like "I think I have permanent hearing loss" loud. For the sake of your guests and your neighbors - keep feeding us but for the love of all things holy, PLEASE turn down the volume and stop this dream kabob from turning into a nightmare.

Madis G.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this this family owned kabob shop and it was amazing! The service was fast, and the owner was so kind to us, and the food was great! Really recommend if you're looking for some good persian food

Johmba C.

Yelp
Lived in the middle east for many years so Im familiar with the taste of a good kebab, this is so far the best Mediterranean restaurant I've tried in LA! Reasonably priced and taste is authentic. Friendly owner and staff! Will definitely recommend and come back!

Yelp
Amazing service and DELICIOUS JUICY kabob! Do not miss this place, they outshine the fancy Persian restaurants!

Allison E.

Yelp
If you are shopping in the Fabric District, the kebabs, hummus and pita bread here are excellent. Grilled to order, and really tasty. A perfect lunch.
google avatar

Christine C.

Yelp
Ordered for delivery and I was extremely content with my food. We ordered the vegetable plate, Greek Salad, hummus, Tabbouleh, and a chicken plate. The hummus was sooo good I can always appreciate a well made hummus that's flavorful. I'd definitely return! Also they provided loads of utensils which is also a plus because this is always missed when it's takeout, tons of sauces too.

Abby H.

Yelp
Very good service and amazing food it is clean and nice , I'm very picky myself but it was great.

Victor K.

Yelp

Yelp
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! best Persian food in the area hands down. has the most flavorful rice I've had at a middle Eastern restaurant. the thighs were so juicy and tender. it was fantastic day of and even 2 days later as left overs still juicy and not dried out. and the tomato and jalapeno were grilled to perfection! loved the tzatziki. the owner was kind enough to give us complimentary pickled veggies which I'm a big fan of. love when pickled veggies keep their crunch and these most definitely did. I was hoping to get some more after finishing my left overs today but sadly it's Monday and they are closed. I know what I'm eating for dinner tmrw though!!! so good.
google avatar

Damaris F.

Yelp
AMAZING FOOD, AMAZING SERVICE. I always get the chicken breast kabob, rice plate. Rice is delicious and chicken is seasoned and cooked to perfection. They take cash only but if you forget cash don't worry.. they have an atm inside that only charges $1.99 ;) my go-to spot!!
google avatar

Katie K.

Yelp
Ordered the Chicken Luleh Kabob and it was super dry and not as tasty as before. The roasted veggies were over charred and burnt.
google avatar

N K.

Yelp
Edit: after eating here for the 5th time, I can confidently say this is the best Iranian/Persian restaurant in LA. The definition of a hidden gem hole in the wall. Kind of place you can drive by a hundred times and never notice. This place is as real as it gets. Owner seems to run the whole operation (or most of it) and the food is definitely made with TLC. Chicken thigh skewers were still tender and not at all dry even after sitting overnight in the fridge. The pickles are stellar. Ditto the tzatziki, which is packed with cucumbers. Even the rice is extremely flavorful. This place gives Raffi's a run for its money but at a fraction of the cost and none of the hustle and bustle.
google avatar

Mehryar D.

Yelp
Best place to get Lamb chops, tasty rice and hospitality is amazing, felt right at home
google avatar

Paulina V.

Yelp
I stopped by on a whim, and I'm glad I did! I ordered the boneless chicken thighs, and it was flavorful and juicy. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be back. FYI - it's cash only, but you can Grubhub the order in advance.

Yelp
Amazing Persian food !! We eat it all the time ! The best Persian food in DTL great service as well . Ambiance nothing fancy but tasteful
google avatar

Ana D.

Yelp
The food here is delicious, made to order, so flavorful, and abundant! Whenever I'm in the area, I make sure to come here and get some food. It's truly delicious. Be aware! It's a cash only restaurant. They just installed an atm, but to avoid the fee, come with cash or order delivery and avoid the cash issue!
google avatar

Gustavo V.

Yelp
First time stopping by. The staff is super friendly ,the food is fresh ,flavors are off the hook, the marinate on the chicken is delicious, if you're in DTLA, please stop by and give it a try, indoor and outdoor seating, very clean inside and out
google avatar

Yelp
What an incredible (almost) hidden treasure!! We were downtown handling many pre-wedding errands and came across this delightful gem. The food is over-the-top! And the owner makes you feel like you're a visitor in his home. Incredible service, and the food was so delicious we bought more to take home! If you are in this neighborhood RUN don't walk to here!
google avatar

Rose M.

Yelp
Clean establishment, friendly service, and savory food. I was not disappointed. A bit on the pricey side. I ordered a salmon Kabob plate, chicken lule plate, and Shariza salad. Totaled $45. But I would come back when in the dtla area and craving Persian food, yummy!
google avatar

Roy R.

Yelp

google avatar

Ola S.

Yelp
Great kabobs! Parking is a bit of a hassle but really good food.

Kathryn S.

Yelp
This food was amazing!!. Hands down one of the best spots in LA for authentic flavorful food!! The nicest people possible working there too and the man cooking the food is so proud to be cooking his food you can see it and hear it in his demeanor. Love supporting smaller mom and pop shops like this! They even have authentic music as you walk in just setting the mood for what your about to enjoy! They love serving people that truly enjoy a middle eastern cuisine so if your a foodie like me this is the spot. Now a must go to spot for me when I'm in LA.

Romeo G.

Yelp
The food is really good and they are a very clean business. The service from the time you order until the time that you leave is also great. This is literally one of the best mediterranean food spots I ever been too in LA. Would highly recommend the good to everyone if you like good quality food at a timely manner. If your readying this you should definitely give this place a try.

Roxanna T.

Yelp
I was in DTLA and we felt so so so hungry. We smelled this restaurant and my grandmother told me she had been there and how great it was. So we walked in. Not only was it amazing service and very nice people but it was the best food I had ever tasted! Being Iranian it is hard to find true Persian or Middle Eastern food sometimes but this restaurant had it all! This restaurant was authentic and delicious with a family feeling. When you sot down you feel like you are in a family setting. I absolutely loved it here and I 10/10 reccomend you!

Czarina D.

Yelp
Pretty yummy food! I ordered a #36 and it was enough to share between two people. #36 came with a chicken kebab, a beef kebab, rice, grilled vegetables, and a pita. I was pleasantly surprised with how flavorful the chicken was! I normally usually always prefer beef kebabs, but this chicken was undeniably well seasoned. It was just a tad dry, but the flavor and slight char on it was outstanding. The beef kebab was also great. Rice and pita were pretty standard. I loved the charred vegetables. The only underwhelming part of the food for me was the raw onions. Look, I LOVE raw onions. But these raw onions were cut too large and since they were not dressed, they were overpowering, strong, and a little hard to eat. I would love to see the onions dressed up a little more, perhaps with salt and pepper or even a touch of acid to help cut the rawness. Overall, pretty good food! A nice thing to eat while shopping because it won't make you feel too heavy afterwards.

Gina K.

Yelp
The food is excellent! The service is fantastic. I ran into the place while shopping. This is a must try for those who like Mediterranean food.
google avatar

Eddie S.

Yelp
By far best lemon infused chicken kabobs. You will be happy eating here for teal. Chicken Kabob

Anthony B.

Yelp
So rude. Service is very rude all they do is blast music all day. Food is also just not good. Save your money. Don't come here.

Solange T.

Yelp
Best kabob sandwiches! They are the only place that has good tahini sauce! Portion is generous! Only bad thing is they close early!

Bryanna S.

Yelp
OMG! This place is amazing, the food is so excellent, you can tell they cook it with love. Every bite I had I was extremely content. My new favorite place to eat honestly. It doesn't have a lot of reviews, but quality over quantity. Plus the staff was super helpful. Will be returning :).
google avatar

Josephine V.
