The Best Water Ice In Philly

"When the weather starts to make you sweat through your favorite shirt, Dre’s Water Ice is the first place you should hit up. At this West Philly truck, you’ll find flavors like sour apple mango, passion fruit, lemon, watermelon, and a few others that are all made with real fruit. Each spoonful has that silky smooth texture water ice is known for, and the flavors rotate regularly. So if you happen to see cherry vanilla, try to order it by the tub and figure out the storage in your freezer later." - candis mclean

Where to Eat Ice Cream in Philly - Eater Philly

"Dre’s is known for its excellent sweet potato pie and banana pudding ice creams, but don’t forget to order Andre Andrew’s water ice, too. They come in all the classic flavors, and then some. Catch Dre’s truck at any number of festivals and events in the Philadelphia area (and beyond) — follow social media to see where the carts pop up next." - Sarah Maiellano, Dayna Evans

We visited the Love Park location today. The water ice was awesome. Probably some of the best I've ever had. I'd love to give it 5 stars but the service was way below average. The girl attendant seemed to be on her first day on the job, was scooping slower than I think is even humanly possible, was on the phone, actually she was much more concerned with her phone than with helping the customers it seemed. I contemplated leaving but I promised my children water ice before we left the location. I really thought I was on a hidden camera show. It was some of the worst service I've ever had anywhere.. and I've been to Walmart.

This review is for the Spruce Street mobile truck. Incredibly slow service. Employee served us with headphones on. Then he dropped our ice cream into a box and then asked us if we wanted him to make another one. Out of every flavor of ice cream. Only two flavors of water ice left. And no pretzels. Why are these people even open?

This review is based on my experience at the Spruce Street Harbor location. Unfortunately, I wished the experience had been better. They were out of the flavor I ordered, which was only realized by the server after I had paid. At other ice cream places this wouldn't normally be an issue, but this truck was down to only two flavors and one flavor wasn't even written on the board to let customers know it existed. It wasn't busy, so there was no reason they couldn't know which flavors were left. On top of that, the server proceeded to scoop the ice cream into a tiny cup without gloves on and, judging by the ice cream all over his hands afterward, most likely touched the ice cream. Maybe I caught this place on a bad day, or the personnel working this particular location need further training, but I was very disappointed by the experience.

I've been waiting on this location to open up and boy was it worth the wait!!! Dre's has the BEST water ice and ice cream in Philly... and if your looking for gourmet ice cream try the sweet potato pie or banana pudding flavor they are to die for I noticed it at the retail location but it can also be found at all Browns Family Shop-rite stores.

Today was my first water ice from here and I must say it was very refreshing. I had the strawberry lemonade and my sister had the sour green apple. Both were excellent. Next time I'll try the ice cream gelato.

(While I’m sure the ice cream probably tastes awesome, I’m giving this review based on the Spruce Street Harbor Park location ONLY.) Before going up to this food truck station. I checked the prices online for what looked like the Grays Ferry location. Ok, prices looked quite reasonable. So why not give it a try? Sure, I was expecting a bit of a price hike up since we’re in a touristy area. What I was NOT expecting was a cup smaller than Capogiro’s tiniest cup for $7!!! Nope... walked right away from that one! Do yourself a favor and visit Franklin Fountain at 2nd & Market. Best ice cream around- and you’ll get your money’s worth for around the same price!

The first time I had Dre's water ice was at Shoprite off 52nd. From that moment, I refuse to buy from Rita's. I love the banana and mango flavors. The location on Haverford Ave is hidden under a church.
