Houston’s Best Sports Bars | Eater Houston

"Known to keep games on its 50 television screens at all times, Drift Bar is a dog-friendly patio hangout in the Heights. As a reliable place to parlay with other sports fans in town, it’s easy to take the party from day to night with a menu of wine and bubbly, buckets of beer, and boozier beverages like Painkillers and Mai Thais. Take advantage of its weekday happy hour from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and visit the onsite food truck if you’re feeling hungry." - Brittany Britto Garley

The 10 Best Sports Bars In Houston

"For mid-day games it’s hard to beat Drift Bar in Shady Acres. When the weather’s nice, Drift rolls up the giant garage doors and the entire bar becomes an open-air party deck. Plus the number of TVs and massive screens could blind you. A lot of the cocktails are just various alcohols dumped directly into a Topo Chico bottle, which makes it easier to mosey around the bar or rustle up a game of cornhole." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

HH til 8 pm M-F. Also specials on weekends. The bartender Crystal is GREAT. Anything we threw at her she made and made better than expected. If you can't think of what you want, just give her an idea and she can run with it. The place is really clean, which is rare for a bar. They do have a lot of cats on the patio that they feed, but that's it. Def would be back

Google
Chill and spacious sports bar with decent drinks! Recommend the coastal peach tea and watermelon water. A lot of different seating options inside and outside They also have an adjacent food truck with tacos and hotdogs.

Sadly this restaurant takes advantage of Houston tourists. We parked in their parking lot, came in for a couple drinks and when we left our rental car was gone. We were in there for not even 25 minutes. I was able to track the car down to the auto storage facility and had to pay $300 to get it out. When I called the bar to figure out why they did what they did, they responded saying their cameras use some AI or machine learning program to identify people who step out of their cars and don’t walk directly to their bar in the line of sight of the camera. The process is supposedly all automatic and they can’t do anything about what happens. Basically they screwed us out of $300 after we gave them our business. Stay away if you don’t want to support shady business owners who take advantage of tourists. I am filing a civil lawsuit against them, so it will be remediated but it is still such a pain. It’s not the $300 gone that aggravates me as much as it is their principle of screwing with innocent people, even if those people gave them business and did no wrongdoing.

Google
False advertising - Instagram post clearly says $3 for Dos XX bottles, but everyone was charged $6 per bottle. When we asked the bartenders they responded with “we were not aware of the deal, and we cannot change what is charged in our system.” This is unacceptable and we will not be returning to this bar.

Google
Very chill spot. The big screens are a nice touch especially for sporting events. Very helpful servers. The food truck has a good selection of food. Music is good as well.

Google
This is definitely a cute spot to grab drinks and watch any game! They don’t serve food inside but had 2 food trucks outside. I like a place that have good drink specials, especially on game day! $15 mimosa carafe! Need I say more??? The staff was super welcoming. Also plenty of free parking in their lot.

Nikki Ruzanski

Google
Watch your cars! Sitting outside having a drink and the owners are calling to have our car towed! When we walked in we asked and were told we could park in the lot! If we weren’t sitting outside to see the tow truck pull up to our car it would have been towed. Watched at least 3 other cars towed in the 1 hour we were there! No apologies from the restaurant instead we were kicked out because we got upset! Don’t go here to many other friendly establishments nearby!

Google
The general manager here is trash. No manners. I stopped by to ask if I could use the restroom while working for Uber. The bar had just started to close. He literally threatened to have me forcefully taken out. That is not the way you treat anyone. Next time handle the situation better

Yelp
Been here on nights out and during the day and it never misses!! Love the atmosphere here, bartenders are friendly, and the drinks are always good. This is definitely a go-to spot when I go to the bars up in the heights from now on!!

Yelp
Passed by this local pub during the night a few times while visiting a friend's place, but this was the 1st time decided to come during the day as they 1st opened. It is an open-air concept, so if you are Covid conscious, this is a great place for you. They had a food truck and a person making crayfish platters if you were hungry. $5 bloody Mary's on Sundays and drink specials available every day of the week.We came early as it was Suoer Bowl Sunday and knew the crowds would be crazy later. We played Cornhole and they even had a little putting green in front of the ginormous outside TV to watch golf , football games, etc... Fun outside furniture and place to meet up with your friends. PARKING: Plentiful, although if crowded, it could get harder to find Customer service: Excellent, very attentive. We were checked on often to see if needed anything . Return: likely but probably during the day as we are all about fewer crowds

Ian S.

Yelp
Not worth the headache to even explain but I will say they don't care if you are there for 30 mins or several hours if they think you walked to the bar next door to say hi to your friends they will tow you out. They do not care. Spent $200 at the bar and $300 for parking

Yelp
I use to like coming to this place until it was pouring down rain and we parked in their lot. There were wreckers coming in and out and we asked if we were ok since we were on their patio watching the game and drinking their drinks. The Bouncer said everything was fine. So i am watching this wrecker pull a front wheel drive car out backwards and the tires are bouncing - this ruins transmissions!!!! (FASTTOW) Then all of a sudden they back up to my vehicle - we had to run out there to stop the guy. The manager was sorta a jerk and said my mistake, but we were mad and he kicked us out. They should have apologized and offered something. Be careful at this place. Just a family watching a game and ordering drinks.

Yelp
I had stopped by for happy hour and a light meal. It's a cool bar. They only serve drinks so you have to order drinks from the bartender. The service was pretty nice. It's also a pet friendly place. I probably will take my dog to here sometimes.

Yelp
You can't go wrong here if you're trying to bar hop and have a fun night. Drift is a VIBE. Haven't had the food. TVs everywhere. Games outside and good drinks, no time to complain! They have specials throughout the week. Check them out!
google avatar

Brenda A.

Yelp
Drift is alright with me. Lots of cocktails to choose from. We went with a group of friends to watch the Texans playoff game. Lots of TVs and I could watch from any direction I rotated under the heat lamps which were changed without asking. Very attentive server Megan that was on her A game. Game audio was loud and clear. Food trucks only, though. Parking was tough but that's expected with the heights. I'll definitely recommend as a game watch spot.

Yelp
This place is definitely not what it use to be a few years ago. Drinks are pretty cheap though. If you go late be prepared to stand and have people knock into you and spill your drinks. Bartenders are good.

Jane R.

Yelp
This place is awesome! Came here on 9/15 for a Chiefs game. The vibe was super chill. I'd say this is the best bar to come to for anyone that isn't a Texas fan lol. You feel welcomed and the A/C is top notch. They have great food trucks and pricing is mid-high for the area which is expected. Most importantly chiefs fans and Boston Sox fans are welcomed!

Julie M.

Yelp
They (Drift) tried having my car towed from their parking lot this evening while we were watching the football game. Fortunately our family had been sitting at table on patio and saw what was about to happen and was able to stop the tow. We saw them towing cars near ours shortly after we arrived and we even asked the bouncers about the towing to make sure we were ok where we parked. They said we wouldn't get towed. So bladder weren't sitting inside where we wouldn't have been able to see what was happening. The bouncer admitted to calling them to tow my car and said it was a mistake. Like why wouldn't they make an announcement to make sure it wasn't one of their customers? Unacceptable!! Won't be going back! Thinking someone was getting a kickback for clearing cars.

Yelp
Watching the Tyson Fury Dwight with good vibes on the patio! Love it, and especially the drinks!

Yelp
I came here with a group of friends and my boyfriend this past weekend. I asked my boyfriend to go order me a Cosmo, and since he was my DD, he was not drinking, so he did not order anything for himself. The bartender called my boyfriend "gay" and said the f-slur because my boyfriend was "ordering a cosmo". The exact quote was: "what are you, gay?? Why the fu** are you ordering a cosmo, f-slur." WTF???? That was so unexpected and stunned both of us. My boyfriend told him he was ordering for his girlfriend, to which the bartender did not respond and continued to be rude. If my boyfriend was not my boyfriend, and was a gay man, imagine the horror he would have felt ordering a drink to this harassment. Jeez, never EVER coming to this homophobic place again.

Yelp
Drift is a great dip-in and dip out experience. It is right in the middle of 20th street bars which makes it a very hard place not to stop and check out. The atmosphere is very energetic and is not really driven by any age groups. The drinks are decent and the price is alright. I wouldn't order anything too fancy (old fashions for example). I honeslty didn't even know they had food. I wouldn't suggest going here during the day unless it is college football season. However, it thrives in times like halloween, white linen weekend, pub crawls, etc.

Yelp
Food suck would not recommend the bar service was great you're able to take food in .
google avatar

Yelp
Only place I've been to in town that charges $2 for ice. The bartender asked my husband if he wanted a "big ice cube" with his whiskey and he said sure. She did not indicate there was an extra cost and even if she had, that is ridiculous. Nicer bars than this do not charge extra for ice, no matter what size or shape they come in. This fact alone rules out this bar for me.

Nick H.

Yelp
Male bartender was rude as hell. Cool place but rude service doesn't make up for it. Male bartender was rude as hell. Cool place but rude service doesn't make up for it.

Yelp
Best spot in town for sports in my opinion! Screens are great, music is fire. They have honestly great drinks too I always crush the cucumber ranch water in a Topo bottle.
google avatar

Yelp
Brand new, upper Heights bar near Cedar Creek. Nice in and outdoor vibe with TVs a plenty. Bar service was efficient and friendly, which is great given that they were slammed. The crowd felt a little Sunday Funday according to one person in our group. Overall, it's a nice group of put together 20 and 30 year olds. We'll be back.
google avatar

Eddie G.

Yelp
How are you going to charge $2.00 for ice!?! without even letting the customers know before hand. Greedy people. if you let me know that Beforehand I would have been happy to drink it warm. not coming back and letting everyone know this shady practice. it cost maybe a $.01 per oz for ice. where do you get off on charging this. I would love a response from the owner. and don't give the generic everything's gotten more expensive response. your drinks are already expensive enough to not warrant a $2.00 up charge for ice. I know how food cost works.

Laura J.

Yelp
What the what, People??? Watered down drinks; mysterious purchases on my tab; zero table service; PORT-A-POTTIES after 9pm; smoking allowed inside; terrrible food. But, miraculously, the winner of the grand prize at tonight's charity bingo was...an employee! What an amazing coincidence! My first and last visit. The ambiance is better at a nasty stripper bar in old Las Vegas. PS: the male employee who won a $1000+ Velntino bag? He was with a group of several other employees getting primo service and tons of free shots while the rest of us schmoes were waiting on line for crappy drinks and fake charges on our tabs.
google avatar

Jeremy B.

Yelp
Good steak on steak night drinks were great as well. Waiters are super friendly and helpful
google avatar

Hillary E.

Yelp
I came to this bar for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. They were serving crawfish and also had a food truck. Ample seating indoors and outdoors. Dog friendly.
google avatar

Magen R.

Yelp
At first, I liked this place. The drinks were good and the staff was friendly. However, when we went to check out we realized that our drinks were not on happy hour. We tried to ask the bartender to remedy our check but were denied. He said, "Where does it say happy hour is everyday?" We showed him their menu and then were told that is was wrong and, "nobody has happy hour on the weekends." I mean I like the vibe and the place but if their staff cannot even figure out their own menu and try to accommodate their mistakes, we won't be back.

Kayla C.

Yelp
Friendly and attentive staff. Drinks were reasonably priced. Great specials on Sundays for football games. Perfect Sunday funday spot
google avatar

Kassidy N.

Yelp
Initially we parked here to go to another bar. (Unknowingly that it was drifts parking lot) we were told we need to move if we weren't coming here (totally get it) anyway we came, we sat, we drank, we had GREAT service. David was phenomenal the entire stay. Highly recommend coming when he is here.
google avatar

Armin F.

Yelp
I've been going here pretty often, the bartenders and managers are the best and if you call ahead they can get you a reserved spot for you and your friends. It also rotates some food trucks so there is a variety every time you go!
google avatar

Ruben M.

Yelp
If you are coming to watch the UFC fights. Just know they play the fight with no sound at all. Other than that it's a nice setting to get a drink.

Gregg G.

Yelp
Christina was Not sure what everyone is talking about regarding sexual orientation slurs or charging for ice. She was inclusive to my diverse friends and attentive! 6 stars if possible.
google avatar

Che K.

Yelp
By far one of the kewlest spots in the Heights. You have to be 23+ to get in. I respect that. The entire staff is super friendly. Aaron took care of my mom and I, but like I said, everyone is super friendly. The way Texas should be!

Ale M.

Yelp
Went here last Saturday for the UFC fights night was smooth until i went to close out my tab. Taller male bartender proceeds to charge my card tell me it bounced then proceeds tell me to "get the fuck out" then my friend who is an active military member went to pay the tab for the card that "bounced" so if you like to get verbal assaulted and then robbed then this is the place to go. tried to speak with some sort of management and they didn't care to reach out. will never be coming back
google avatar

Tasfia A.

Yelp
Came here on a weekend with a group of friends. Let's just say this place was POPPIN. No place to park (the lot was full and we had to pay to park elsewhere), and there was barely enough room inside to get to the bar since it was so crowded (both inside and outside). Fortunately the outdoor area has plenty of heaters for a cold day! But wowza, this place reminds me of a place I'd go to right after turning 21. Loud music, lots of people, you know how it is. If this is your scene def go there! I might be getting too old for this though.
google avatar

Liz M.

Yelp
Came to this bar to watch a football game, staff was kind, there was a tasty food truck as well in the front lot. Seating outside was quite cold last night, though it was really busy inside. Definitely a younger scene than the other bars we went to yesterday. This bar is 23+ entry ONLY. Would have been perfect if there was more outside heating, ended up getting cold and leaving early alone.
google avatar

Cassandra A.

Yelp
The staff is amazing. They have great events all the time. This is THE BEST PLACE to people-watch on the weekends. The staff are the reason we keep coming back cuz they're amazing. The guests are unendingly fascinating
google avatar

Claire L.

Yelp
i was supposed to go to austin's backyard but somehow ended up here. this place is super cool, spacious and chill. it wasn't the dancing bar more like a sports bar and patio type tho. the drinks were strong af, i was already in way too many drinks so i ended up giving my drinks to this one couple lol. id check this place again tho maybe when it's not too packed.
google avatar

Oksana W.

Yelp
Very happy about giving this place a chance to impress us. The draft beer selection was very satisfactory and cocktails had a bit of twist for me - Ranch Water!?!?! Loved it! And the food truck La Macro was a total delight. We even ordered more food to go as we're leaving the place. Highly recommend this place to all y'all who love to experience new things and to those of you who'd like to have a new neighborhood gem.

Melissa P.

Yelp
A nice little place to relax and enjoy the day. While I was there the service was quick and the place was well maintained which is always appreciated. Music was enjoyable and about the perfect volume. Drinks are affordable

Phoebeee C.

Yelp
My Broker and I go here after we close deals. Cool vibes & good drinks, I Luv it. Taco truck is awesome aswe
google avatar

Goldy J.

Yelp
Great bar. Wish they had frozen drinks. Crawfish was really good. No bad seating. TVs everywhere.
google avatar

Virani P.

Yelp
Has the worst bartenders ! Very rude! I do not recommend coming here if you want nice hospitality.
google avatar

Katlyn K.

Yelp
We tried this bar out on a busy Saturday afternoon, and despite it being packed, had a really good time. Parking is non-existent so Uber/Lyft here if you can. The vibe here is very similar to other bars in the immediate area, so if you have a dog or a scooter, feel free to bring it. There is no table service or food menu, but they did have a crawfish table and a food truck available right outside the entrance. Overall I really liked this bar and would definitely go back, but would like to try it out on a weeknight when it's not so packed. Cheers!
google avatar

Susanne D.

Yelp
We always have so much fun here, the patio is great, food trucks are always good and the parking lot is so convenient but oh my goodness who picked the drink menu... like seriously the cocktails are not good and the beer selection is pretty poor as well. The only decent beer they have on tap is yellow rose and it's always out. Like come on guys there are so many fabulous local breweries and I get wanting to keep the beers local but can we get an art car or pub crawl around here??
google avatar

Johnny B.

Yelp
Came for the Wilder/Fury fight on a Saturday night and the bar had a great vibe. Was a good-sized crowd (as is generally the case for high-profile PPV events at a bar), but never felt too crowded, and we were able to get a table for our small group after showing up fairly late. Had two food trucks outside. Bar staff was real efficient at getting drink orders handled with the busier crowd. Returned on a Sunday afternoon once when it was more chill, and the wide-open bar-into-patio was perfect for the afternoon. When football season begins, I'll make it a point to stop here on Saturdays/Sundays.
google avatar

Jack D.

Yelp
This is a great place to chillin and watch games. The drinks are good and they have a great happy hour as well. The food trucks the stop by are also great the selection of food it amazing. It can get busy here, but it's a fun place to hang out at.
google avatar

Vahid M.

Yelp
We booked a table there to watch a soccer game with a few friends. Nine of us had been there before. This sports bar is very spacious and bright, with great outdoor patio and many large screens so you are guaranteed to h e a good view. Their beer selection is broad and we ended up staying for a few hours.
google avatar

Purvis P.

Yelp
Lost my buddies credit card and didn't even care or have any accountability. This place sucks
google avatar

Roy S.

Yelp
Dont really see a mask mandate in place. I understand that its a bar, but people should wear a mask when walking around. Just saw 6 people at the bar that weren't wearing masks, nor did I see a mask. I wish they would understand that wearing a mask is for everyones safety. Not a vanity issue. Either way, this place is a 5...ALWAYS
google avatar

Marlee L.

Yelp
dont go!!!! service is rude. they steal your hopes and dreeamz!!!! just dont do it okay don't go

Larissa H.

Yelp
Jackson and Dean OMGEEE 10/10 they were on top of everything. My drinks were non stop. They were ready when I was. Very nice. I would come back for every game, great service; everything was amazing make sure you ask for them.
