Drift In

First time at Drift In and won't be my last. The service was great, and the staff was attentive and friendly. The cocktail was delicious and wound up having two. The shrimp was good, and I love both sauces that came with the shrimp. The fried chicken sandwich and fries were cooked and tasted perfect . I wanted to try some other menu items. However, I was full between both drinks and food. Much love to the staff and the manager Jason for making my experience at Drift In memorable.

Made reservations for a sunny Sunday brunch. Son had the fish and chips, boyfriend had the chicken sandwich, I ordered tots and shrimp and oysters to share. Everything was delicious. I would come back and destroy some more west coast oysters. The caviar tots are my favorite thing to order. They used to have caviar hash, but it’s really the same. Anyway, they seem shortstaffed, but we didn’t have anywhere to be so it was fine. It does get chilly in the shade and the chairs are slated so if you are a woman wearing short shorts or a short dress/skirt, the back of your thighs will have slated imprints. I brought an oversized towel to sit on/cover my legs so I was good.

Found this place on a whim after walking around. The waitress was amazing offering us personalized drinks and suggestions. We had a feast. The tomato watermelon salad hit the spot. The only thing I’m not of a fan of is the Big Pickle entree ? I like pickles but that is just a Big Pickle like just slapped on the plate like what? It’s HUGE and it really is just a pickle. Shouldn’t have ordered it but then again. Is it popular? Do people like this. I’ll stop talking about the pickle now. Great resto, come here , feast walk around and enjoy! Ps. Waterfront restaurant from the Grand Banks team but closer to Christopher and the west side highway. All the food was quite solid that we had from both the brunch and regular menu. Great for people watching. Caviar trout roe and hash browns were my fav.

Our waiter was pleasant but when we asked about various drinks and food, he said he had only tried a few so he had no guidance beyond what was popular. We ordered a few if the signature drinks. My wife really enjoyed hers (watermelon cocktail), mine was just ok (spiced drink). The oysters were great, the champagne oysters were our favorite. The lobster roll was tiny and the 'potato bun' was nothing more than a grocery store hamburger bun. When asked he said it was made with flour and not potato as it should be. Maybe a failure on the servers part and it was made from potatoes but we didn't risk it and sent it back. Ordered the fish and chips. It was fine but not worth the price. Ambiance was great as was the view. Be aware the washroom is the public washroom for the pier. I would go back but only to nibble and sip vs going hungry.

Super warm and welcoming staff!! The hostess Natasha is so kind. I wasn’t dining in and needed to charge my phone and she went out of her way to help me. In the meantime I discovered they had amazing beer and I was able to get my friend over for a quality catchup since the view is great too!

A magnificent seaview ,shrimp sauces were great, eastcoast champagne oysters were phenominal. It was impossible to satisfied here from here the trees are fascinating.

Went to drift in for dinner and to watch sunset. It’s a really nice spot, definitely recommend heading down. I’d probably book ahead, they get pretty busy in the early evening and you need to be relatively lucky to get a spot at the bar. We ordered caviar hash and fish tacos and they were tasty. The cocktails were also good, not too sweet and well balanced. Will definitely be back.

We popped into Drift In around 7:30pm on a Sunday without a reservation and luckily there was lots of seating. The outdoor vibes are great with the hanging lights and it's in a great location. However, we had major issues with our service. After being seated it took 15 minutes to get any waiters' attention with two even ignoring us after asking us for help. We finally were able to order. The watermelon mocktail was good, the cocktail wasn't to our liking. The key lime pie was a miss for us, it's not worth it. It was more like an ice box cake than actual key lime pie. Our main server was MIA the whole time so we finally paid with someone else and then our server chased us down when we left saying we hadn't paid and wouldn't verify it with their colleague we paid. Something was off on service this night. Overall the vibe here is nice if you're looking for a drink outdoors by the waterfront but I wouldn't have high expectations for food or service.

Awesome location to grab drinks and small bites by the Westside highway in the summer. Drinks are yummy and the people watching is on point. Service for brunch can be hectic but you'll eventually get your food!

Great place to sit , people watch , enjoy the outdoor over some drinks and grubs close to the water on a nice summer or mild temperature weather. Our server was on point , helpful and attentive ( gave some good recommendations on food ). A place to have a drink or food from a walk to and from downtown and uptown . Views of NJ but if you're into water views , definitely worth it . Less than a 10 minute walk to little island , meatpacking or west village ( and the subway )

Love this outdoor spot on the water. Small menu but they have everything you need. The service can be a bit slow but only bc they are always so busy. Def make a resy before hand. Minus one point: their bathrooms are just the public shared park bathrooms. Ew.

We came here to celebrate my son's birthday and he wasn't disappointed. We loved the party like atmosphere and the friendly servers. The view of the Hudson was terrific! We had: - Spinach Artichoke Dip - delicious - Lobster Rolls - very good - Club Sandwich - very good The only negative was that we had to use the public restrooms, the restaurant didn't have a designated bathroom.

It was the perfect sunny and hot day in Manhattan to sit along the water in the shade and have a nice lunch. Food was good and service was attentive. We got plenty to eat. Definitely recommend it.

Sister restaurant bar to "The Pilot" ship, docked over at Pier 6 in Brooklyn, this was a nice respite on my walk from the World Trade center, along the path that runs adjacent to the West side highway. Christian was my bartender and a super nice guy. It was not crowded during this smoky week day, and this is the perfect spot to coordinate a bike ride on Citibike if you're so inclined. Feels like your in the islands. I'll be back.

The lobster roll was pretty solid, the side salad however left a lot to be desired. Pretty good fries, wonderful ambiance.

A nice outdoor place along the Hudson. Super great for the summer. Easygoing and chill. A better place for friends and early dates. The place itself is not super romancey but you can go on a romantic stroll after drinks! I quite enjoyed my time. Not a 5 bc I like Grand Banks better. But a solid substitute for a non boat bar along the Hudson.

This place has so much potential but unfortunately, it fell a bit flat. The setting is incredible, along the Hudson River facing the jersey side and full of outdoor enthusiasts. When seated, it feels like you were on the Italian Riviera and it's a wonderful summer spot to just simply sit and have drinks. You are allowed to order brunch items on the menu for dinner and many folks seem to go and order their coffee while enjoying the view. Unfortunately, the prices are quite high with cocktails close to $20 each and the food isn't particularly special. Sample sizes were quite small and the option on the menu aren't favorable for non-seafood lovers. We order the Caesar salad, a bowl of mussels, and the fish tacos but were still hungry after dividing the food amongst just two people. For a return, I would order a coffee or something light, people watch, and choose the evening time. But for an actual heart meal, I'm planning to explore other options in the area.

Went there for a 'late night' snack. It was just before closing time and they were very nice and accommodated us. Had a glass of wine and what was available...fish and chips. Tasty and good fish The view and ambiance were also pretty cool.

You pay for the location and I mean you will pay. 20 bucks for 6 east coast oysters equals 3.33 each. They were titled Navy Point which I never heard off but from what I saw when I got them they are Blue points. Maybe that's a proprietor's name. They were definitely blue points though. That's not a bad thing but they shouldn't go for more than 2.5 each. I can't say anything about the taste of them bc they were exactly what you'd expect from blue points but they weren't shucked good ! They weren't cut from the bottom shell so I had to use the fork to release them from. That ruins the oyster eating experience. I got the Sunday beer , it was 7 bucks and was definitely not a pint. I also got the Big pickle. It was just a huge pickle lol. I had to take so much points off for the price and the subpar oyster shucking. Service was nice. I would only suggest you come here for one drink at sunset.

A chilly Summer Saturday couldn't keep us away from enjoying drinks at this super cute spot on the Hudson. Drinks: 4/5 We both had the Permanent Vacation and enjoyed it. It's visually a beautiful drink thanks to the coconut vs. blue Curacao hues. Perfect for summer day drinking. It was definitely a one-and-done kind of drink for me though. I couldn't drink two of these in a row, but it was a good selection for a casual drink. Service: 5/5 Hostesses were warm and friendly, as was our server. He was kind and checked on us just the right amount of times/frequency. Food: 5/5 Granted, we only had an order of fries (we had a late lunch and were just coming by for a cocktail - but the table next to us ordered fries and they looked good so we got some to nibble on). They were surprisingly really tasty. They were hot, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with just the right amount of salt. Everything you want your fries to be. And the sage aioli really took these over the top. Ambiance: 4/5 All outdoor seating on the waterfront (with the walkway/bikeway in between you and the river). Gorgeous views. Picnic/casual-like atmosphere. Only drawback was they don't have their own bathrooms, so you have to use the public restrooms next door. Surprisingly they were well-maintained so it wasn't a huge deal but would have been great if they had their own.

Came here and sat at the bar. Ordered the fish and chips and lobster roll. The ambiance and view was really nice, but I don't think this place is a bang for your buck. The lobster roll was tiny (took me 5 minutes to finish) and the side was just a small salad. The fish and chips were okay, not really anything special. This place would be great for drinks though. Wouldn't come back for the food.

No beer, told me there was no pulp in orange juice and there was a ton of pulp. Staff was nice but seemed like they were out of a lot of items

Would give a 0 if possible. Came with a reservation, told them the name reservation was under, was on time, was treated rudely, service was very bare-bones, food was passable at best, and then afterwards was charged the cancellation fee and after contacting them multiple times through cll and text, received no response. For the price of food, I expected more to be honest. their take on fish and chips was essentially three poorly battered and fried pieces of sad fish and average fries without any seasoning. Compared to even just a home-cooked fried fish and some rough cut potato fries, this failed to match the flavor or appearance. Not that I expect much when I get fish and chips but I do expect there to be at minimum a half split between batter and fish, a decent fry, and fries I can eat without drowning them in sauce to account for the blandness.

After an 11 mile run around Manhattan in the extreme heat yesterday morning was so glad to finish up at Drift In. Iced coffees and glasses of ice water were a must. Nice bar staff who kept me hydrated every time my glass was empty. Good spot to people watch too as they walk and run by.

Well-made, if pricey, cocktails with a lovely atmosphere and an amazing view. Good design and prompt service. Food all needed seasoning and one bartender (middle aged bald guy) can be a little intense.

The British Columbia oysters and lobster BLT are delicious! The oysters are some of the best I've ever had... huge and creamy and hold-them-in-your-mouth good. The sunset view is also fabulous. Skip the lobster mac and cheese (oddly made with curry powder) and order these two and a drink and you'll be very happy. 5 stars!!!'

Went on a Tuesday around 430 without a reservation and was able to be seated right away. Nice views and very sunny. All the staff members were nice. We ordered the soft shell crab; lobster BLT; lobster macaroni and cheese; fries and a fish sandwich that is no longer on the menu. Drinks wise we ordered the permanent vacation; receloucion and tropocalia. Overall the location is nice and the view are great. The drinks and food are up for debate. Nothing that makes me want to rush back. Tinge pricey.

One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Maybe they weren't quite ready for the season but: -Drinks very slow to come and no water served the whole night -Slow to take dinner order -No bathroom in their space and the nearby public bathroom was first being cleaned, then closed for the night so nowhere to go -After a long wait for dinner order to be taken, heard they were out of burgers -Then after a long wait for food to come learned that the fryer was broken so we'd have to wait a while. And they were out of the spinach and artichoke dip so that wasn't coming -Then fried chicken sandwiches arrived and heard for the person who ordered fish & chips that they were out of that, so they ordered a cold turkey club figuring that should be a safe bet Ran out of most of the food we wanted, poor communication from server, long waits, no offer to comp anything, all around awful service and nowhere near what I'd expect from somewhere affiliated with Grand Banks.

This is it. This is the summer happy hour spot. Right on the water, great drink selection, oysters and lobster rolls were great, servers were friendly. All around A+. Just make sure you get a reservation!

There is a lot of things to love about Drift In (AKA: sister restaurant of Grand Banks). I came here for a birthday event and I'm really glad I chose this venue. What is great: - LOCATION LOCATION... great view of the Hudson (even though you are looking into Jersey) - The cocktails (and drinks in general) from the iced coffee to the Mariner cocktails - hits way above its weight class - The service - such friendly, kind, and caring service - Dog friendly! Why this isn't a 5 star - Some of the furniture doesnt seem the most stable - The food is expensive (I'm baking in inflation) and has super small portions - You have to use a public bathroom - separate from the restaurant (tourists don't exactly take as much care in the bathroom - hint hint) This is great for: 1. Adult birthday parties 2. Reunions 3. 3rd dates 4. Introducing a girl/guy to your parents This is bad for 1. Break ups 2. Kids 3. People who need really sturdy furniture

This was the absolute BEST spot for what we wanted!!! My parents were in town for a couple of days and I wanted them to see some of my friends, and meet several new ones, so I picked Drift In for its casual outdoor ambiance. Plus, my parents are big boaters, so being near the water was key :) we ventured there after seeing Little Island and we were not disappointed with our visit. The service was speedy, the drinks were delicious, and the food was a major hit... the manager was SO easy going when our party of six turned into twelve. I thought people would come by for a drink and hang for a little, keeping the number to about eight, but everyone was having so much fun, they all stayed for WELL OVER the two hour reservation slot. The only thing is that I wish they had some more vegan options, but c'est la vie because I was the only vegan in the party and I enjoyed the yummy French fries and a big salad sans cheese. It was the best place to top off my parents' semiannual three-day NYC visit - thank you Drift In, we will be back!!

Cute spot along the Hudson for cocktails and a quick bite to eat. You're paying for the ambience and the location. Make sure to make a reservation as this spot filled up, even on a Wednesday evening. Their food menu is small with average options. I got the burger and my friend ordered the fish tacos. Both were nothing special. Service was slow, even at 5:30 when the place was only half filled. It took 15 min just to get our drinks. I enjoyed the two different cocktails I ordered. Not sure if I'd come back, but it's a cute spot to bring guests visiting nyc or people you're looking to impress.

Amazing views, amazing staff, amazing drinks! Went on a little walk down west side highway and stopped to grab a happy Hour cocktail. I was not disappointed. Beautiful location with plenty of seating and excellent service! I will Be back to try some of the food everyone is raving about :)

Great place for a weekend brunch! Food was really good . They are the type of location you get what you see on the menu and nothing Else beyond that no customization allowed. We ordered eggs and asked for them over easy the server looked at us and said I don't know if we can do that I'll have to ask the cook .... are you serious???? The Gazpacho was good but very very little it was almost a joke for $13 it was maybe a 1/2 cup . The champagne oyster were my favorite Beautiful views perfect spot for a Sunday brunch with friends

Such a cute little garden by Christopher street pier, you don't need to dress up can come in for a drink with your gym cloth. Reservation is easy but you need a $20 per person deposit non refundable within 24 hours cancellation, credit will put towards the bill. Walk in available if you don't want to stuck with the deposit. The reservation is time limited. They don't have their own bathroom but the public bath is right next to it. The menu is pretty small great for a quick drink with amazing view of the river at sunset. Oyster is fresh, you see them opening at the counter, a bit pricy. Mandatory 7% covid recovery fee applied to your total bill. Service was great everyone was very friendly.

Food/Drinks: 4/5 Ok right of the bat I felt personally attacked because apparently they stopped serving lobster Mac & cheese!! I was so excited to try it from this place. It seems like the menu is not a constant thing. We came here mainly for the drinks but had some small bites: lobster roll & fries, which in my opinion was just alright. Drinks are delicious and the cocktails have cute names. I recommend the Get On Up and I'm the Captain Now (this one made me LOL iykyk). The right amount of flavor & sweet enough to my liking! Service: 3.5/5 Our server was kind and knowledgeable about the menu. She made good recommendations! The only weird thing here was that their payment system can be a bit delayed if you pay the bill through the app. Lowkey tried to clown us saying that the tab was unpaid when it clearly was paid. Vibe: 5/5 The vibe was giving what it was supposed to give. Drift In sits on the waterfront in WV. This is one of those places where you're paying for the view/vibe and it is a cute one indeed!

One of the bartenders was weird and slightly culturally insensitive. She told a family (that sounded like they were French by their accent) who was trying to order french fries that "she speaks European" and that she knows chips are fries. As a person who sat next to the family at the bar and listening to the family ordering in english, I felt that comment was off putting and uncalled for, especially since I could understand them just fine and there was no reason to make that comment. Other than that, cocktails were delicious and ambiance was great.

Stopped here to take a break on our walk. We just ordered a couple of drinks. The bar tender was very really cool too.

this place used to be amazing. i went every weekend. they've changed their menu and somehow made everything heavier even though it's summer! shrimp cocktail is now coated in seasonings, their beautiful and light tequila cocktail which was delicious now has banana in it (what???), the Cesar salad with shrimp is gone (which was the cleanest dish of them all) and instead they have fried food with a spicy kick. even the fish and chips (classic) is now loaded with unnecessary seasonings. all that's left are the oysters. old drift inn please come back.

Enjoying an afternoon in the park nearby and they refuse to sell us food to go. And very rudely. Said they can sell it to us ONLY if we carry it in napkins. An entire dinner!? Haha. Anyone who runs a restaurant knows to go is all profit. So I guess these people are just totally clueless, inept or rude. In any of these cases - avoid at all costs.

Fish dip? Basically just canned tuna. Salad? Just lettuce with oil. Cocktail? No alcohol. Fries were good and service was good, but prices are insane for what they have. Lobster roll was good, but tiny for $33. The ambience and scenery was so great, but unfortunately the food and drinks stink.

Lovely outdoor bar with seafood theme. Outdoor seating with views over the Hudson and people watching as the runners / walkers go along the west side. The menu is fairly limited, I guess small kitchen so keep it simple. We had the fish sandwich, and Lobster BLT, plus fries and a couple of cocktails. There wasn't much lobster in the BLT but it was still tasty. The drinks menu was a few specialty cocktails, then some beer, and wine. I'd have preferred a bit more choice on the cocktail front but again I think they have a small bar space and are keeping it simple which makes sense. Bathrooms are public ones about 50 meters south. Overall it's a great lunch spot on a sunny day. (They have lots of shade) Maybe not ideal out of season due to weather.

Pros: lovely view, dog-friendly, yummy food Cons: expensive, small portions, chairs are decidedly uncomfortable My friend suggested Drift In for the 4th of July - the patio seating affords a view of the Jersey City fireworks. It turned out to be perfect for this purpose: nice, relaxed ambience and not too crowded, compared to the madness on the East side for the Macy's fireworks. It's also dog-friendly, which meant we were able to bring our pup in a stroller. Drift In takes reservations on Tock and requires a $20 deposit per person that is credited toward your bill. I had the lobster BLT and we split some fries for the table. Both were delicious! The amount of lobster was pretty generous - though I did find some shell in it. Service was cordial and food came out quickly. On the negative side, the portions are pretty small for how expensive everything is. A glass of soda is $5 (!!), with cocktails running $15-19. I also found the chairs incredibly uncomfortable - flimsy with poky corners. Would recommend that you BYOCushion if you plan to stay for the full length of your reservation :) Still, this was one of the most pleasant ways to experience 4th of July fireworks in the city if you, like me, feel anxiety about getting pushed around in a big crowd. I probably won't be here regularly, but I'd certainly consider coming back next year!

I LOVE this place! Great views of the Hudson River and beautiful sunsets. Staff and bartenders are always super friendly and accommodating - especially sweet to my frenchie (who is obsessed with their fries and oysters!). Great go to place for outdoor drinks at the bar or for a great lunch or dinner meal during the spring or summer. I love the Caesar salad, Oysters, Chicken Tenders ~ pretty much the whole menu!

A complete tourist clip joint! I ordered a martini and ended up with a water glass full of ice and some vodka- $16, I was charged $2 extra dollars for "up". In addition to $2 for NYC water. Not to mention a $10 cover charge. I ordered a second martini just because I couldn't believe a NYC bartender could get it so wrong and again, a water glass full of ice and some vodka. the Oysters were good, the lobster sandwich and calamari were good as well but the meal cost $180 which was over the top, even for a great location. The worse part of the experience is that I spoke with the GM the next morning and instead of being apologetic and offering to refund the money I spent on the "martini's" he told me that they don't usually make martinis and offered me a round on him next time I come in. There are a lot of amazing restaurants in NYC that are capable of making a martini and don't charge you for tap water and an extra $2 for "up". This is not one of them.

This is a hidden gem. No be location. Small many but great choices. Tables are not packed close together like other places. Waitress was friendly and helpful. Not bathroom but the public bathroom is right next door and clean. Food was delicious. I would come back.

Great vibes, amazing views! I'd come here more for the vibes than anything else, but drinks were pretty decent. Plenty of seating, (clean) bathroom available nearby, as expected NYC pricing. Great to just chill with friends on a summer evening with some drinks and simple food.

I was expecting Yelp to ask me to write a review after I checked-in at Drift, so it's no surprise I'm here writing this review. I stopped here today during the high noon sun for a glass of sparkling water. To my surprise there was none, so I settled for still in a can. I was surprise at the fractured services I received as their sister establishment, Pilot in Brooklyn provides impeccable services. I sat at the bar, one of the waitresses looked at me and looked away, eventually the second waitress noticed that I was there and came over. If the service at Drift is a reflection of services from New York City restaurants, then it left a bad taste. PS - a customer should not have to ask for a glass to drink water she is paying for nor napkins. I'm somewhat disappointed I had to write this review because the location for this place is unmatched.

Location Location Location. That and great service earns the 4-star review. Came here with my girlfriend for dinner and sunset on Thursday evening (through a reservation). It was pretty busy but we were seated promptly and checked out the menu. Food here is definitely on the pricier side and wasn't super great. I got the gazpacho, fish sandwich, and corn. Gazpacho was super tart and didn't have a nice cucumber flavor-undertone characteristic of the great soup. Moreover, the croutons were not crunchy and were already soaked in the soup. Was almost inedible The fish sandwich was better. But was super greasy and lacked flavor. They should really have drained it better before putting it on the sandwich where the bottom bun soaked up all that oil and fat. The corn sadly wasn't great. The toppings while pretty weren't flavorful. The corn was cooked well but probably good to steer clear of this as well. Overall, it was good for a one time experience since i always pass this place on my runs. Don't think I will be back but it's a pretty place to visit at least once

-0 STARS Drift at 389 west was the worst place to eat. I guess l have to be white to receive respectful service. The manager was rude & racist. This is how they treat blacks while eating at drift: l asked for my food to go since it took over an hour after my party finished for my food come out and they gave it to me and a plastic soup container instead of a real to go box. A burger. Why Would you smoosh a burger into a plastic container and throw it on the table and say fuck him. I will never in my life eat at this bad service, over priced shit hole again. RACIST, RACIST, RACIST, RACIST, RACIST!!!

Great setting right off the pier with a fantastic view. Amazing food and a great service to match. Everyone from the chef to the server were attentive 100% will be back.

Honestly you wanna go for many reasons! The view, the lobster BLT and the staff are awesome, especially the bartenders. Truly an amazing time., highly recommend

Wonderful spot with shaded, outdoor seating with views of the Hudson River. Drinks were expertly made and not to sweet, with fresh mint and thoughtful garnishes. Definitely make a reservation ($20 deposit pp, applied to your check) to join in on the sophisticated, understated vibe and especially for weekend afternoons. Cheers!
