Drunken Fish sushi

Always love coming to drunken sushi!!!! Alix is always so very sweet, thoughtful, and cheerful (from tips with food and watching out for parking/garage vs street parking hours to avoid towing or tickets [unsolicited, so sweet]). Honestly can’t recommend this restaurant enough. The food is so so delicious! Specifically recommend the sunrise roll, and it’s even on the happy hour menu. It’s always a highlight of my day when I get to go :)

This was my first time at drunken fish and I was definitely impressed! The interior is super clean and nicely decorated - you can tell everything is new and updated and it shows as it’s such a pretty restaurant 👍🏼service is great and happy hour has great options for sushi roll, appetizers, and beer, sake. Such a cute place for date night. I will definitely return!

They changed the name and ownership since we last came a few months ago. But the quality of good stays the same if not better. We ordered a few rolls, sashimi salad and sashimi sampler. Everything tastes amazing and feels fresh. Great ingredients! They also have a fake cherry blossom tree which adds a nice ambiance.

Good food for vegetarians at good prices! We had several servings of the avocado rolls, with a plate of veggie tempura sushi, egg rolls and veggie gyoza. It was all excellent! The servers were polite and attentive. The interior was decorated nicely too! Thank you!

We ordered the Heart Attack, Sushi Combo, Crab Roll, Korean Bulgogi, and Spicy Miso Ramen. All the food was delicious, and the service was good and welcoming. The cherry blossoms were also beautiful. I would definitely revisit!

I always enjoy coming here. Really unique cherry blossom decorated ceiling. Large sushi and roll menu. I like the volcano roll, but everything I have had is good. Friendly staff and very good service.

Hara Sushi was great! Rolls are packed full with a variety of ingredients, they do not skimp on portion size! Wish the rice was a bit more fresh but overall the fish and combination of flavors were tasty! We ordered the West coast, Phili, Red dragon, Lighthouse and Vegas and left very happy and full.

I've ordered two rolls. The first one (salmon, crab and lemon) was okay. The roll is huge but the salmon is cut very thin. The second roll was cut and placed underneath a heap of small shrimp with some brown sauce. It wasn't appetizing at all. When I tried to pick up a piece of the roll with my chopsticks, it just fell apart. The entire dish was like a rice porridge. It's not what one expects from sushi.

Drunken Fish is now or goto for sushi and we go there once a week. Seriously! For months now! First the restaurant has a great vibe and the decor is warm and welcoming. The music is good, even when it's seasonal! Haha! The service is excellent and everyone you interact with is friendly and helpful! (I'm not biased...even though at this point they know our we counter so often!) Miso soup is always hot and flavorful with plenty of seaweed and tofu! Shishito peppers are well dressed and hot and delicious! Garlic edamame is spectacular. The garlic is crispy and delicious! It's not on the menu anymore, but Tofu Steak is awesome! (Ask for it!) it's crispy, hot, and very yummy! We've had many special rolls and all are amazing! The sushi is excellent! We are creatures of habit and we stick to tuna and salmon nigiri. Fish is fresh and tender. Avocado cut-roll! Great! Spicy tuna cut-roll: great! Spicy salmon hand-roll: yum! Check it out if you're in the area! All around very good and you'll feel welcome and at home. And happy and satisfied!

Taking over the old Haru Sushi spot, Drunken Fish retains most of what you're looking for in a spruced up interior complete with cherry blossom decor. We picked up some rolls - good taste and quality - and some noodles. Both hit the spot and prices are what you would expect for the west side. There's a parking lot in the back or street parking

Food is maybe 3 stars. Too many rolls have fake krab or cream cheese in them. Service was absolutely terrible. We brought a cake because we were celebrating a birthday and the server literally delivered the cake to the table in the box. We took it out of the box and asked for a candle. Then they delivered the candle and did not light it. We then had to ask for forks and plates. She brought five forks and six plates even though there were 7 of us. Absolutely unnecessarily painful experience.

The food is delicious and well prepared--clean and fresh! Happy Hour is terrific for excellent prices. I recommend the seaweed salad, yellowtail, sesame chicken, and spicy tuna roll (it's not really spicy but flavorful). Also, they have Ramen! Service was friendly and helpful, and the interior had a warm, pleasant, modern atmosphere. The cherry blossoms on the ceiling were very cool! It felt like it was in Tokyo.

Pricing is great. Like before, the restaurant is beautiful and clean. Asked to get TV to switch channel and there was no issue. I thought this place temporarily closed but when it reopened I decided to give another try. The portion size is good and promotions. Not sure if sushi is super fresh.

This place is very aesthetically pleasing with cute cherry blossoms on the ceiling. It was very clean and inviting. The service was fast and the staff were attentive and friendly. The food was great, but I would say it was a little higher priced, especially for the special rolls where it comes with only 8 pieces (Apparently some other ones have 6 pieces!). There are other places I can get more rolls for a little cheaper with the same quality. The flavor and quality of fish was really good though. It's in walking distance from my work so it's super convenient. I will definitely be back. I want to try the bento box or ramen next time I go!

It's been our go to sushi spot for many years, and even though it had a change in ownership we are still committed to keeping it so. prices have increased but you can still find a median affordable priced roll and the portions are satisfying. Pleasant decor with vibrant colors and nice background music along with tv screens for sport enthusiasts. servers are polite and attentive as expected. Free parking on street after 6 and also in the attached parking garage.

If you're looking for the ultimate sushi experience, look no further--this place is pure magic. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm hospitality, an elegant ambiance, cute cherry blossoms on the top and the unmistakable aroma of fresh seafood that promises an unforgettable meal!!!!!!! Food: (If I could give more stars, I would!) Every piece of sushi here is a masterpiece. The fish is incredibly fresh, practically melting in your mouth. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. They guide you through the menu with expertise and make excellent sake pairings. You can feel their passion for sushi and hospitality in every interaction.

Fun vibes. Cherry blossom ceilings. Good for larger groups. Gyoza slightly oily but beef were delicious, crunchy. 8/10 Tempura a lil oily but the batter is light. 6/10 Albacore and yellowtail. Excellent ride to fish ratio. Albacore tasted fair 7/10. Yellowtail 7/10. Seaweed not my favorite. 7/10 Dynamite roll 8/10. If u know me I'm not a fan of California rolls or imitation crab but this was flavorful and for HH price a good deal. Didn't taste any mushrooms tho. The Eel sauce is really good. The eel sauce in its self was at least an 9/10. Sake good quality for house sake. Prices are amazing. Happy hour (2pm-5pm) prices even more amazing. Lunch specials $12-$16. Sake bomb $10.95 for a large beer and small hot sake. HH is $8.95. They even offer Soju bombs $18.95. HH is $15.95. Service was good. Not the most cheerful servers but they did their job. In all fairly good. I appreciate the prices more than anything. Hopefully come back and try the other items. We came here for HH. So we were lucky to find this spot.

The reason for a 3-star review is that since they've rebranded from Hara Sushi to Drunken Fish Sushi, the prices have gone up significantly. I'm assuming there's a new ownership or management. This place used to be packed at all times and the last time I went there on a Friday night for dinner, half the tables were empty.

The food was very very good. Great presentation, fresh fish, came out quickly. Two very experienced sushi chefs preparing the sushi that came out very quickly. Service was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is great for friends looking to catch up, families, groups and dates. Highly recommend and we'll definitely be back.

Very good neighborhood sushi restaurant on Wilshire Boulevard. I love the cherry blossoms on the ceiling and there's a cherry blossom wall that you can take selfies in front of. Great place for groups as they have lots of tables. Reasonable prices. The menu is extensive and has everything from sushi to Korean food, short ribs and tempura. We started with the unique "Fire Cracker" appetizer: spicy tuna, tomatoes, cilantro, red onion, wonton chips with spicy mayo. Very good. I had a Rainbow roll: imitation crab, avocado with assorted fish on the outside. It was good. Pretty average. I really liked my friend's Bulgogi Korean style marinated beef. The beef was almost like thinly sliced steak. Very tender. It came with rice and an excellent salad. I can't say this is the best sushi I've had in Los Angeles but it's a good bet if you're in the area and it's cute inside with the booths and the cherry blossom ceiling. The service was very nice. One odd thing is that they can't modify items like the "crunchy roll" (my friend didn't want the imitation "krab" inside) because, according to the server, they were "premade"? That was odd to me. I've never heard of a good sushi restaurant having premade rolls to serve to customers. Maybe because they're fried? I don't know if I will go back here but if I happen to be close by in the neighborhood again and craving sushi, it's a good option. It's good quality but I would not personally drive across town just to eat here. But definitely try it if you are in the neighborhood. There is metered parking on Wilshire and on the side streets. There is also a lot of free parking on the side streets as well, especially on Saturday and Sundays.

We ordered take out. We've had some bad sushi around here. This one was pretty good!! We ordered the garlic edamame which was ok, 7/10 Spicy tuna roll: a little too much rice but 7/10 Eel roll: pretty good! 9/10 West coast roll: 10/10 Dragon roll: 9/10 Appreciated they put sauces on the side so our rolls wouldn't get soggy. Definitely coming back!

Hmmmm, kind of conflicted about this place. On the one hand, the dining room looks warm and inviting, plus they have a large menu with many items. On the other hand, the service and food left me underwhelmed. The sushi looked well made however oddly lacked much taste. I wasn't offended by the meal, but probably won't be back.

Drunken fish is located along Wilshire and can be seen to be very aesthetic with its cherry blossoms on the ceiling. However, their sushi was wildly underwhelming and warm. Not pictured is the bluefin tuna roll which was $20, and it was warm, mushy, and flavorless. The customer service was also mediocre, we had to flag someone down every-time we needed our water refilled or when they gave us the wrong plate. This place pales in comparison to restaurants in OC or little Tokyo. The sushi was reasonably priced but for its quality I wouldn't say it's worth it.

God, I miss Hara Sushi. As soon as I found out it was being rebranded as Drunken Fish, I had a bad feeling in my stomach, as we all know rebranding usually means "the same thing but worse." And sadly that was as true as ever. First of all, the prices have doubled or more. What was once a perfect and rare mixture of affordable and mid-to-high end is now just expensive, and not even high end anymore. But even that wasn't enough to keep us away after our first underwhelming experience under their new banner. We decided to give them one more shot... and dear God was our second time around infinitely worse than the first. In addition to the same high prices for mid-quality food, there was some fraternity doing pledges there at the main center table, screaming their stupid frat chants, doing shots together, and pounding on the tables. My wife and I couldn't even hear each other across the table. We cut our meal short and left early. The staff did nothing, even after the third or fourth time of this happening. Our hint to stay away should have been when we realized that there were no other patrons other than the frat table. Apparently the staff didn't care that drunks had run the rest of their clientele off. We won't be coming back. And trust me, when you see their prices and taste their food, you won't either.

This is a reasonably priced sushi place. Great for ordering on postmates or doing take out! I haven't eaten inside yet. Good quality and consistent.

This place has the worst ramen I've ever had lol. The noodles tastes like the noodles you get in instant noodles, the thin crunchy ones instead of the ones you get at ramen restaurants. Their sushi is what you'd expect I guess anywhere else, not the best but they have happy hour so the price is fair. That is the only benefit to this place is the price is reasonable and the sushi isn't bad nor good, it's similar to other sushi you can get anywhere else. But do not get the ramen lol. It's terrible. I thought the service was fine. No complaints there. I just don't want to pay for what tastes like cheap tasting instant ramen

I used to like this place when it was Hara Sushi. I had hopes it was improving with the improved decor and slight change in menu. However, I've already seen a decline in the few weeks since the change (the decline in Drunken Fish itself and not compared to what that location was before). I was thrilled they had a lobster roll. I had eaten there with hubby who got the Wilshire roll. The lobster roll looked like the Wilshire roll. Both are CA rolls with the topping of shellfish in a sauce. We noticed it was less than what we were used to but shook it off to increasing prices and new name. My hubby had even ordered again to go it a few weeks later, he liked my lobster roll! We weren't sure, but it almost looked like the lobster was less than what we had in the restaurant. We thought it might have been bc of appearance since it was to go. However, recent we got the lobster roll again and the lobster & sauce was not even enough to cover the CA roll. For $13 for lobster, I was very disappointed. (a plain CA roll is $7 and a lobster roll is $20). We called and the owner shrugged us off like "oh well". We won't be going back. It's a shame.

My husband and I used to go here when it was Hara sushi and it was one of our favorite sushi restaurants. The restaurant under new management is as good and probably even better. Good size menu with variety of items for everyone. Staff is super friendly.

I was in the area and spotted this place, so I thought, why not give it a try? If I could, I would rate this place 15/10 stars! The first thing that caught my eye upon entering was the beautiful Sakura cherry blossom ceilings and decor. Blossoms are my favorite, and I believe they really tie the interior together. Now, onto the service; it was nothing special. I would have given it 20/10 stars if it had been exceptional. It was just okay. However, the food more than compensates for it, which is why I'm giving it 5 stars. I noticed there were numerous options, almost overwhelming. I ended up choosing my go-to, baked mussels. THE BAKED MUSSELS ALONE SEALED THE DEAL. Mussels are my favorite, and these had mayo, eel sauce, and even krab meat inside. Exceptional! I also ordered poke, being originally from Hawaii and a poke lover. It was surprisingly good, although the mesclun mix salad in the poke threw me off. That's was an unusual addition. For dessert, I had the green tea ice cream, which was fantastic! Often, green tea ice cream tastes artificial, but this one was perfect. All this, reasonably priced at around $30. I'm so happy I came here and definitely plan to return with my friends! I moved my review from Hara Sushi to here!

Drunken fish 10/10 recommend. Ordered hamachi salmon roll, drunken fish sashimi combo, lobster fried rice, and bento box Hamachi salmon roll came with truffle ponzu sauce, which has amazing flavor Sashimi combo every single piece of sashimi was super fresh and served on the ice ice. we also loved their Japanese style fried rice cooked with lobster meat. Service was better than before and servers are attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is fabulous and beautiful. Highly recommend for birthday party, events, family meeting, hanging out

Located on a busy stretch of Wilshire Blvd in the former Hara Sushi, Chef/Owner Martin Kim reworked the menu and interior into a welcoming and inviting Japanese-style restaurant. Let's make one thing clear - this is a California-style Japanese restaurant, calibrated to American tastes with a preference for large complex rolls flavored with soy, wasabi, mayo, hot peppers, avocado, and other items absent from classical Japanese sushi, that is generally quite costly due to its insistence on mostly unadorned fresh fish. The room is quite pleasant, with a colorful cherry blossom (sakura) motif. Service is excellent, and attentive waitstaff can help you with the menu if needed. We found that the food, in general, is on the higher end of Amecian-style sushi with pleasing flavors and textures; the fish itself, being a secondary factor, is fine but nothing special. Considering the location and ambiance, the prices are excellent, with many standard tools under $1o and very reasonable prices for drinks on the Westside. This will be our new favorite for Westside sushi when you get that itch that nothing else will scratch. One word to the wise - please don't try to speak Japanese to the staff since in many such bars, many of the checks and servers are not Japanese and may not understand what you are saying.

Came here for a business meeting this evening with a colleague and they were kind enough to let me charge my laptop. Ordered - salmon roll - yellowtail roll - spicy tuna with avocado - edamame Fish was fresh and everything was so yummy! Will definitely be back.

Don't be fooled. This is the same horrible Hara Sushi whose rating had sunk to 3 stars in recent years. They just rebranded to avoid their own bad reputation. The sushi is chewy and stale. Service is very poor Prices are terribly inflated. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

I love their salmon hand rolls! They are huge with a lot of salmon! We also ordered sunrise roll, and eel avocado roll ( the eel was warm, yumm) Everything was SO delicious!

This place was so good!! We ordered during happy hour so the California roll & Philadelphia roll were super cheap! We got two or their specials ones who just were the west coast roll & the drunken fish roll. The inside is super cute and cozy! Definitely would recommend if you're looking for a new sushi spot :)) very attentive service too!!

Drunken fish Japanese cuisine is a hidden gem. Recently renovated 3 months ago. So beautiful inside and great happy hour is 2pm-5pm. Jesus is fantastic and took great care of us. Make sure he takes care of you! Hamachi salmon roll is fantastic!

My girlfriend found this place randomly while looking for a good happy hour after landing at LAX before we headed home. Food was great, the inside is beautiful, and our server was friendly. We will be coming back for sure.

I am disappointed writing this review because, I have been eating at Hara sushi for the past 20 years. The last time I visited was a few months ago and found out there was a transition in ownership & some changes to the upcoming menu. Fine. Understood. Fast-forward to today, my favorite menu items are gone and or completely changed & they were the only reason I was so loyal & kept returning after all these years!!! Now their Vegas roll & non-existent salmon skin salad are just as ordinary as any other place!!! My friends and family, who also kept returning after their first initial visit, will also be disappointed I'm sure. What a very sad day. It is not what it used to be.

Hearing that the restaurant was under new ownership, I wanted to give it a try. First thing that caught my eyes were beautiful cherry blossoms tree decoration. There's even a spot to take photo w/ the cherry blossoms background. I came with a group of 6 people and was lucky to try various kinds of food. To be honest, everything tasted beyond my expectations. The Udons were very flavorful, sushi could't be any fresher. The foods came out quite fast compared to how busy it was at dinner time. The waiter was friendly and fast. We ordered a lot of food but still wanted to try different menu since everything tasted so good. I'll definitely come back to try other menus as well. I would give this place 10 starts if I could on great food and service!!

The Drunken Fish Roll is the best. It has albacore, cilantro, and a secret sauce, that make it taste really unique. I really recommend getting that roll. I will definitely be back for more.

Ordered take out lunch through grub hub. Tried to cancel 2min later (literally, 2min.). Called restaurant to ask and they said it needed to be done through Grubhub. Hostess asked guys to not make because ordered was going to be cancelled. I called Grubhub, they called the restaurant to confirm this happened. She came back and said no, sorry, the restaurant has already confirmed. I picked up the ordered since I couldn't I already paid for it. Cucumber salad doesn't seem fresh. Fish smells and taste disgusting. Not sure if they were mad and made with old food. Didn't eat any of it. Waste of money

We found our new neighborhood sushi spot. Loved this charming little restaurant. The chef came and talked to us directly. We had miso soup, the Drunken Fish Sashimi and the Sushi Moriwase with some sake. No frills. Just good fish. Please visit this place.

It was near closing, but I got some truly foul smelling sushi, that made me feel like I was being stupid & putting myself at risk for eating (I'm a stubborn person that doesn't like to waste my money). The fact that they even sent it out is crazy. I fortunately didn't get sick but needless to say, it was not an enjoyable experience. I know back when it was Hara I never had an instance like that. Definitely have pause to go back again.

best sushi I've ever had. better than Sugarfish. Sounds like there has been a change in management for the better based on old reviews I've read.
