The Best Late-Night Phoenix Eats

"Where else in the valley can you get chicken feet at 12:30 in the morning than at Drunken Tiger? This Korean mainstay is a true testament to late-night dining. Chef and owner Justin Park describes his place as harmonizing typical Korean street and bar food with American comfort food. The menu is a direct reflection of Park’s wishes, with some staples like kimchi pork fries, mussel soup, and corn cheese, which is like a Korean deconstructed elote with melted cheese. Open until midnight Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday and until 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday." - Mcconnell Quinn

Google
This place serves great Korean bar foods. Their chicken wings w/ sweet and spicy sauce (this is the traditional flavor) are really good. It’s better than bonchon, bbq, and any other Korean fried chicken I ate in the Valley. Ttoekbokki is pretty decent and I like all the topping options except soggy dumplings. I wish they offered crunch fried dumplings instead for ttoekbokki. Corn and spicy pork dish was strangely delicious like I couldn’t stop eating even though it seemed like it shouldn’t be good. Good atmosphere inside and service is very good.

I’ve been coming here for almost 8 years and it’s just not the same anymore. Same dishes I’ve been getting for years and each time I come they skip out. Look at the photo comparison of what I got today vs. before of the SAME DISH. Just disappointed every time I go. First pic is from today and the ones after are from before.

Google
Cool vibe, has an almost Korean dive bar feel inside, staff has always been friendly in our experience. The food really took us by surprise though, it's very good. We assumed it was just a fun drinking/hangout place but the food is no BS really good Korean street food. The tteokbokki, fish cake soup, yangyum chicken, fire chicken, spicy pork belly, and corn cheese have all been really good.

Google
Cool place and super good food! Everything tasted great.

Google
Great spot for Korean bar food and drink. The combo meals sets are reasonably priced for how much food you get. Quick enough service even when the place is busy. Wish they would open another location closer to downtown Tempe, we make the drive out there but wish we didn't have to drive back :)

Fabio Martin

Google
The food is good but not worth the price. Plus It's way overpriced. They use small plastic cups and paper plates.

Google
Overall experience was great. The bar/restaurant does make you feel like you are in a bar in South Korea. The food was very good and the kimchi tasted fresh. However the only thing keeping me from rating this place 5 stars is that the food and drinks are overpriced. The Soju is marked up at least 2~3 times and the portion of the food doesn't match the price. Overall I rate this place 4.5

Google
Everything on the menu is delicious, but their Korean Fried Chicken is the best. Food is served quickly and their staff is great and friendly.

Yelp
This is such a cute place for late night bite and some drinks. The food was OK. The portion was very good, but I got the fried rice and it was way too salty. Other than the salt everything was perfect service was decent Prices were very reasonable

Yelp
We're back again and this time we tried some new dishes. We got the spicy mussels and yang nyum chicken. The taste of the sauces are quite similar that we had to get the cheese corn to balance out the flavors. Which was the best move we made tonight. Their cheese corn is one of the best tbh. I can say the dishes weren't spicy this time around and we were both wondering if the chef had changed or not. Overall, glad we tried different dishes this visit but would recommend doing different pairings. (Don't order both the spicy mussels and yang nyum chicken at the same time ) For instance, get the corn cheese with spicy pork ,upon and spicy mussels. Or get the kimchi fried rice , corn cheese and fried chicken.

Yelp
I was visiting my friends in AZ, and we decided to come here on a Wednesday night - it was such a great choice!!! FOOD: What didn't we have? LOL - Ramen aka ramyun - Not like Japanese ramen. This is Korean ramen, and oh boy, it was yummy, and it was a generous portion. - Fried Mandu - average, I wouldn't buy this again. - Tteokbokki - we ordered this twice! Needless to say, I was impressed at how yummy it was. - Korea Red chicken wings - I was impressed with how much I liked the spice, but they aren't very big. - Bulgogi - This was good but it was no frills. DRINKS: I love Makkoli, and they have a Lychee flavor. This is by far my favorite flavor!! We ordered a bunch of Cass and Soju, of course. Reasonable pricing -- of course not as cheap as in Korea lol SERVICE: They are super chill. You're not going to get fine dining service because you're being served drunk food lol They may forget about you so make sure you flag them down. AMBIANCE: Korean music and music videos are playing on TVs. Loud ambiance -- even on a Tuesday night. It's not a place you bring your parents. This is the spot you come with your friends after taking an edible or to drink - a lot!

Yelp
I went to drunken Tiger with a Bookclub so I got to try a variety of their dishes. I thought many of their dishes were not bad, but I also wasn't super blown away by anything. I probably like the fried chicken the most, and I probably liked the tteokbokki the least.

Yelp
They're very friendly here. The wings were awesome. I also had the mussel soup & it was spicy ! Overall would go again for late night eats. Check it out they have a great diverse menu of options.

Yelp
If you enjoy Korean food in a bar setting, check this place out! We went around 5pm and didn't have to wait for seating. Service was quick, attentive, and friendly. The food was the star of the show. We ordered corn cheese, tteokbokki, Korean fried chicken, Takoyaki, beef bulgogi, bulgogi fries, and Kimchi fried rice. Everything came in very reasonably sized portions and stuffed 4 very very hungry mouths highly recommend tteokbokki out of our entire order. Only issue I had was how warm it was inside the restaurant. But other than that. Would recommend this place for great Korean food!

Yelp
I've never been big on tofu but I tried it. I'm still not big on tofu. But I tried it. I won't be trying tofu again for awhile. But if you like good food... After an unexpected layover at a local private airport, I found myself with a couple of hours to spare. Hungry and tired, I stumbled upon Drunken Tiger, a Korean restaurant not far from the tarmac. The experience was surprisingly refreshing, a perfect respite from the demands of flying. The moment I walked in, the lively beats of K-Pop music enveloped the space, infusing a vibrant energy that was almost palpable. It was a stark contrast to the quiet hum of my jet's cockpit and exactly what I needed to rejuvenate. The music, loud but not overbearing, added a layer of authenticity to the atmosphere. What truly set Drunken Tiger apart was its staff. Despite my limited time and obvious fatigue, they were incredibly accommodating, ensuring a swift but enjoyable dining experience. Their attentiveness and efficiency were remarkable, allowing me to relax without worrying about the time. Though I didn't delve much into the intricacies of the cuisine, the overall ambiance of Drunken Tiger made my brief layover a delightful interlude. It's a gem worth visiting, especially for those seeking a quick escape from the demands of a hectic schedule.

Yelp
Best Korean food AZ has to offer. No complaints on any of the dishes. They offered a bunch of Korean pub food. The watermelon drink was so good!!! Although food is not anywhere near the LA Food I'm used to. Vibes were specular

sophia h.

Yelp
I ordered Tteok-bokki to go. It's a soupy dish and they put it in a cheap styrofoam plate container? Of course it spilled everywhere. The entire dish is ruined at the bottom of the plastic bag they sent it off in. For $20 for one dish... thanks a lot! Avoid this place

Yelp
Love this place. Service, food, and atmosphere is fantastic!!! Everything on the menu is tasty!! Great place to hang with friends, drinks and eat.

Yelp
Im probably going to keep coming here until ive tried everything on the menu. This is a Korean spot. They have qr code menus with really good small portion bar food and a ton of soju options. I wanted the watermelon soju served IN A WATERMELON but they were out at the time. We went really late, maybe 10:30 on a Saturday. We had the blueberry soju and some appetizers which were soooo good. My bf ordered the korean chicken bbq meal...twice. He finished all of it lol We also had the tteok kochi (if you like spicy order this...its got a sticky rice chew to it thats addictive) DO NOT GET IF YOU DNT LIKE SPICE. And we got takoyaki. It was good the sauce they put on it was good, not sure if they used potato on the inside with a little octopus meat but it tasted like potato.

Yelp
Should've came here sooner! Came in at 10:30pm on a Friday night, place was pretty full, but got seated quickly. Inside the restaurant it was giving a dark bar vibe with cool murals. Service was very quick and efficient. The menu was presented by scanning a QR code. There were many great options to choose from. I ordered the Korean Fried wings with two flavors, Korean red (a spicy read Korean sauce) and pina (which was pineapple and sesame). The chicken came out hot, sauced up and crispy. We ordered some kimchi pork fries which were tasty. The steak style fries were hot and complimented the pork with kimchi. We also ordered the fried gizzards and they were great, they had pieces of fried garlic throughout and sliced serranos which added some extra heat. My least favorite dish was the fried ramen. It sounded interesting and I love eating dried ramen so I figured Id try it. It was fried ramen coated with cinnamon and sugar. Perhaps it could be a good side dish for drinking, but it was a little lacking for me. I did enjoy snacking on it later. All in all we paid $110 including a 20% tip. It wasn't the cheapest dinner but it was worth the value. Definitely will be back to try some more of the dishes. You should try them out next time you're in Mesa!
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
WOW! I ordered fried chicken wings without sauce & it's not only they used old/dirty oil but the chicken is old. It had a smell like it's ready to no bad. I wouldn't order chicken wings. If with sauce, it'll cover up how horrible it is with sauce. I'm giving it 2 stars because the other items ordered were okay.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was delicious, the service was great and the atmosphere was perfect. More of a club but not entirely a club. Will definitely be coming back
google avatar

Jennine K.

Yelp
Came with a big group for dinner. Unfortunately they don't take reservations, but it wasn't too busy and we only waited around 15 minutes to get seated. There's lots of drink options here! I ordered the kimchi tofu which was really good. Lots of snacks and food options to share

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick dinner with my girlfriend and was not disappointed. Drunken Tiger definitely aims to have a laid back Korean soju bar vibe. The service was kind and attentive, and the food quite tasty! Definitely the better Korean food I've had in Phoenix. We got the fire chicken as well as the corn cheese with fire pork belly and man, it actually packs a decent kick! Spice was delicious, and both meats were juicy and tender. The corn cheese was good, but the cheese could've been more melty and stringy in my opinion. Pro Tip: order the seasoned rice as a side! Super tasty! Overall a very solid establishment and I plan to return to try some of their Korean bbq dishes.

Tamir M.

Yelp
The food was just not that great for the prices. Food was served on plastic plates. It didn't give very mature late night place. Lots of younger people. The server was pleasant but didn't really offer much as far as suggestions or overall interaction. This experience made me upset I didn't go with my first mind when thinking of places to go.
google avatar

Anne W.

Yelp
They offer more flavors of soju than I've ever seen! Padak/popcorn chicken was nice and crispy. Mussel soup looks unassuming but it is spicier than it looks! We like the heat but avoid this dish if you don't. Tofu kimchi is a nice slightly healthier alternative to all of the fried food. The tofu itself isn't seasoned but it went well with the kimchi and pork belly. (I wish it came with rice though, had to order a tiny bowl separately). While not the best Korean food I've had in AZ, everything we got was solid and the vibes were good for a Friday night.

Oscar Romero ..

Yelp
Food was pretty good. Ordered the Tteokbokki, Kimchi Fried Rice and Fried chicken. All three things were delicious. Service was good, but it could improve, waiters basically only took our order, brought the food and brought the bill. Even though the food was good, for the price you pay there are other Korean places in the area that offer a lot more with better service.

Yelp
We came here in search of a late night place after arriving at the airport. This place didn't disappoint. It was open till midnight with the full menu. That's rare in Phoenix, and especially for Asian food. The inside is a welcoming casual vibe. I take it this is what a typical restaurant in South Korea is like. Lots of younger people dressed in normal clothes, and the best part was the tastefully low-volume music playing. I was in complete shock I was eating at a place in the Phoenix area near midnight, and able to actually have a conversation with the person across from me at the table. The best part of the meal was the Corn Cheese. It was incredible. So cheesy. 5/5. The potstickers had a nice drizzle of sauce but were pretty standard. 3.5/5. The Fire Chicken was supposed to be mild spicy but it still was still having me gasp for air. Super spicy, but ultimately a very solid dish. 4/5 Red Rice Cake balls were pretty bland and overly chewy. 3/5. Silkworm Pupae Soup was disgusting. I pretty much ordered it since I wanted to try something bizarre. I couldn't get over I was eating insects, but despite that, it just had no flavor and wasn't worth getting past the nasty fact I was eating insects. 0/5. Will definitely be coming back here, so many interesting cheap dishes to try. And the vibe and late menu is hard to beat.

Yelp
I was surprised by this place. Our friend swears by the chicken karagge - it is very traditional and yummy. I also love the tteokbokki - a surprising spicyness with great flavor. Inside is a little interesting - no need to dress up unless you want!
google avatar

Yelp
I really enjoyed the chill ambience this place had. The service was quick, and they were all very friendly. Food was honestly okay! Great for a late night snack.
google avatar

Lina L.

Yelp
It was a cute place but I was just not impressed with their food at all. It would be a fun place to go on a date, but if you just want an authentic Korean meal, this is definitely not the place.
google avatar

Grace C.

Yelp
The food here is so good. It's always a great time here as well especially with friends. Atmosphere is nice and again the food here is always so good. Service is fast as well however beware when going close to closing, their kitchen most the time does close about an hour or more before the designated closing hour listed on their website. I would call and ask them when their kitchen closes before going if you plan on going there late. Otherwise food and atmosphere is awesome!
google avatar

Daniel ..

Yelp
Food was great! Lively atmosphere with music playing. Service is quick and the staff are friendly. Would recommend: 1. Fire chicken (with seasoned rice) 2. Salt & pepper shrimp 3. Bulgogi fries 4. Takoyaki

Robert R.

Yelp
The food and service were great!! We ordered over the phone, it was fast and simple. Food was ready when we were told which is important to the customer experience.
google avatar

Valerie A.

Yelp
We tried Drunkin Tiger out on a total whim on last minute date night out. The space is dark with pops of color, a once bar area now sets a stage for the restaurant staff's use. The place was surprisingly busy. The food was yummy, a sort of twist to your typical Korean bbq and Korean food menu options. We had Korean chicken wings and sizzling bulgogi plate. Our water was served on flimsy water cups, foam paper plates, so don't expect any elegant silverware by any means. The fun/loud atmosphere with K-pop music playing is a sure treat. There was a slight 10-15 minute wait for a Friday evening dinner.

Madeline S.

Yelp
Highly recommend the spicy mussels. The wall art was super cute even in the restrooms.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
The food was fantastic. Felt like I was eating a homemade Korean meal. Service was friendly and quick. I'm for sure coming back. The only thing in recommend is that they update the ambiance. The restaurant looks old. Besides that with trying.
google avatar

Kayla R.

Yelp
Love this place. We always come here for a large selection of Soju! The food is wonderful. I'd really love to spotlight their Kimchi Fried Rice. The addition of bacon in the fried rice really, really makes the dish stand out. Awesome flavor! The service is always great and the staff is very attentive to our needs. Thank you for being awesome, Drunken Tiger!
google avatar

Dan N.

Yelp
The soy garlic wings are amazing! Get a side of fire sauce...soooo good! Huge soju selection and good Korean beers!
google avatar

Lisa D.

Yelp
Just checked this place out and was not disappointed. They have a fun menu of food and drinks Place is cute with lots of graffiti art around it They had a bunch of different Korean fried chicken dishes and other Korean specialties. We ordered the potato salad which ended up being fries with sauce and still very good. We also tried soy garlic chicken, bulogi, and Kimchi fried rice. All delicous and full of flavor.

Samiuela W.

Yelp
super yummy food and service was very good. we are from California and we went here 2 nights in a row. dishes were big and very tasty

Maya D.

Yelp
Food was pretty decent but service was very poor. There were 5 of us so gratuity was included. Part of our order wasn't put in, since our waitress never checked in with us throughout our meal, the order wasn't put in until last minute. By the time we finished the rest of the order came out. Lack of efforts

Yelp
This place is cool. I have read some of the other reviews and I think people are confused about the concept. Drunken Tiger is not aiming to be some high-end dining experience (see name: drunken). This is the kind of place where you begin or end an evening. It is also one of the few truly late-night options in the Valley since they stay open till midnight and till 1:00 on Friday and Saturday. Mesa is one of the cornerstones for authentic Asian cuisine in the Valley. If you've ever spent any time in South Korea (I LOVE Seoul!), then you get what Drunken Tiger is about. Kind of a step above a dive bar with still good eats, a nice vibe, and a solid drink list (yup, they have tons of Soju here!). When I popped in on a weeknight, the place was already packed and while I was lucky to get seated right away, there was soon a queue for arriving guests. I can only imagine that as the night wears on, it gets even busier. While they were busy, the employees did a great job of taking care of our table and nearby guests. It is always a good sign when a bar is on top of monitoring water refills! As this was not a dinner stop for me, I only tried a bit of the menu: beer-battered mozzarella sticks, soy-garlic fried chicken wings, mussel soup. Everything was good. Not something you would write home about, but solid and worth the price paid. One opportunity area I see for Drunken Tiger is making better use of the dining space. They have a small bartop that could honestly be extended and would add a cooler vibe to the place. It's currently a mix of a few booths and scattered tables throughout the dining room. While they did a fantastic job of the decorations (and the men's restroom was very clean), a bit of a reorganization in the dining room would make this place even better. Food for thought! Another perk of Drunken Tiger is that it is affordable. There are some solid Korean cuisine restaurants in Arizona, but few are affordable. Korean Tiger is an establishment where you can get some authentic Korean food without breaking the bank. Perfect choice for a Happy Hour or late night. One more reason to visit Mesa!

Yelp
Loved the soy garlic wings! Very crispy and the spicy mussels are hot. I got them less spicy.

Kaitlyn J.

Yelp
I love this place!!! Have been here four times, and already looking forward to the next time I come. My go-to's are the corn cheese, bulgolgi, korean fried chicken (boneless), and potstickers! Don't leave without trying at least one of these. The food is always amazing, and satisfies my craving for Korean food! Love this hidden gem, and 100% would recommend to anyone looking for a delicious meal. This is also a great spot for a late night bite or drinking with friends. The ambiance is awesome! Also always have great customer service, ever server greets you and checks on you. Super attentive!
google avatar

Yelp
Really cool vibe inside with graffiti art on the walls. Food was average and visually unappealing. The House Fries were awful but the regular fries were good. The Korean chicken was a bunch of little nuggets that looked grayish brown and not appetizing, once you dipped it in the sauce it was ok. They should just toss them in the sauce before serving. Won't be coming back for the food but their house made infused saki's were pretty good.
google avatar

Day V.

Yelp
I loved this place. So good! The wings were my favorite piece! I cannot wait to come back soon.
google avatar

J L.

Yelp
This was really really bad... Everything tasted weird: the water, the kimchi fried rice, the tteokbokki, and the chicken. The kimchi fried rice tasted like oily, burnt Funyuns, the tteokbokki was super watery and the ramyun was flavorless, and that was the oddest Korean fried chicken I've ever eaten. The fry and juiciness was fine, but the soy garlic.. was just off. I'm not really sure why this place is so highly recommended, maybe most people have never eaten Korean food outside Arizona? I've had microwavable tteokbokki better than this place. I had to go to a boba shop afterwards to get the taste out of my mouth. Gave 2 stars because the ambiance and workers/service were nice.
google avatar

Khoa N.

Yelp
We came here as a family of 5 with three young kids. Even though it's a street food bar and restaurant, they were very accommodating to young kids. We had the padak chicken, deep fried chicken gizzards, fire chicken paws and Kim chi fried rice. The food were pretty good. Seating is spacious though you can't tell from the outside looking in. Their draft drink selection is a little lackluster, for a bar they can stock up a bit more beer on tap, but I guess people come here for cocktails and specialty drinks. Overall a good hang out spot, good for date nights.
google avatar

Sara L.

Yelp
Came by when I was dropping off my lil bro at the airport from Tucson since we were missing all the pocha foods in LA. The vibes and service were great 10/10 but we were disappointed in the quantity of food. We ordered the: Spicy rice cakes: favor was really good! But portion was sooo small for the price which was shocking since most Korean bars do not shy away from rice cake portions since they are relatively cheap..... Chicken gizzard: solid! Quality and quantity was great. Mussel soap: super bland and came with about six mussel pieces. Which is fine but not worth for the price. Popcorn chicken: loves the flavor but wish it came with some radish on the side. Overall: maybe my expectations were a little high coming from Los Angeles but I still appreciate a place like this existing in Phx! Would def come back for drinks and to try the other dishes.

Yelp
The service is here is extremely unprofessional and I definitely would NOT recommend this establishment. As my family and I walked in we were glared at and body checked by the two hostesses. As soon as I approached the host stand itself the two women looked away and began ignoring me until I greeted them and told them my party number. Then one woman simply walked away without even looking at me and the other said "um I think we have a waitlist". She rustled with some very small pieces of paper that were scattered all around the host-side of the stand and gazed around the room. She then walked away to go talk to the guy behind the bar. (Not to mention the bar was completely empty). She came back after 30 seconds and said "it'll be a 40 minute wait". I looked around and noticed that there was no one waiting to be seated and that there were plenty of tables for my family and I to sit at (it was just the 3 of us). So we said "never mind, thank you" and left. If the service is anything like the food, this place will be shut down in no time.

Yelp
Pretty good food and great deals on drinks one of the best bars in mesa it's great for a larger group to come in and get some food for the table and rounds of drinks

Yelp
Honestly this place is a must if you are into food and live in the valley . My buddy big wave Dave first recommended DT awhile back, it took me some time to actually try it. This place is honestly the absolute shit! My favorite items are the Galbi ribs, beef bulgogi and Korean fried chicken. Their options for soju are endless too, which is sick. I'm not kidding, get the KFC and the Galbi ribs, both are incredible here. Definitely one of my favorite places in the area now, honestly easy top 5. Once you try DT, you won't step into one of the many buffet Korean BBQ options around town ever again. I used to hit up the one in Tempe Marketplace, haven't stopped by there since I first went to DT. Honestly going to one of the cook it yourself Korean BBQ spots around town is a poor life decision, go to drunken tiger instead.

Yelp
Super cool place to hit up on a Saturday night! We stopped by around 10:30 and this place was pretty busy! We waited about 20 minutes for a table as it was pretty cray. The hostess was friendly and let us look over the menu as we waited to be seated. We sat down and water was brought out right away. I ordered a cass and my friend tried out the blueberry soju which is one of my favorites! The server was super friendly. We decided to order several dishes and share them. We ordered two steamed eggs, Korean fried chicken, and bulgolgi fries! The steamed eggs were great! I'm obsessed and must have them where ever they are made! The kfc was also really good. The chicken was tender and crispy. The bulgolgi fries were a no. We did not like the cheese and the fries were super soggy. It was a mess. The inside is very trendy. The graffiti is also pretty cool. We had a fun night and will be back!

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised. This is a perfect example of don't judge a book by its cover. My boyfriend and I were looking for a date night spot with good food and some drinks. I work nights and it's hard to find somewhere that can accommodate us both. We stumbled upon this hidden GEM, and will be bringing all our friends. We only ordered two things, and were sold. The fire chicken and cheesy corn is what we ordered and we scraped our plates clean. Perfect amount of spice on the chicken. Service was fast and efficient. Vibe was hip and fun, we can't wait to return.

Yelp
I guess it's because I am an avid streetfighter enthusiast but I can't say drunken Tiger without saying drunken Tiger upper cut. That is a great description when you eat the food, it'll knock you out in a good way. Get ready to go into the ring and don't be surprised when you go night night! Try the chicken gizzards and the KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN. BOMB DOT COM.
