The 27 Best Breweries in Denver | Eater Denver

"Starting as an outgrowth of a brewing-supply store, Aurora’s first craft brewery has gone on to become one of Denver’s foremost producers, with two locations and more than 20 GABF medals to its name. While its Apricot Blonde is perhaps its top claim to fame, the Vanilla Porter and Bligh’s Barleywine are other highlights, as are weekly special releases at the South Dock such as Jalapeño Watermelon Gose and French Toast Amber." - Eater Staff

Google
Dry Dock Brewing offers a variety of beers and provides classes and equipment for home brewing. The facility is well-maintained and organized. Very enjoyable and wonderful staff.

Google
Really great brews and low key atmosphere. You're probably familiar with their core beers at liquor stores but their OG brewery and taproom has a bunch of unique stuff and they're always tapping a new small batch offering as well, which are usually creative and very tasty. No food on site except a few snacks, but they often have a food truck. They also do lots of special events so keep an eye on their calendar if you're interested in such things, but also a great place to just grab a pint and relax on your own or with a group.

Google
Great place! Being a homebrewer, I don’t have many options for a home brewery supply shop near me. Great full service shop that has had everything I’ve needed for home brewing. It’s awesome that they have a brewery so I can buy a beer before I go shop. Dry Dock is an award-winning brewery and they’re always pushing the envelope with new flavors like sour apricot, Vanilla Porter, and pumpkin barleywine. The space is great and would be good for any special event. They have a brewing classroom that would be awesome for a Magic beer tasting event.

Google
Stopped in on the way to Denver and would definitely come back! Their selection is quite large for beverages, and even though they do not serve food they openly encourage ordering food in or bringing your own! They are also pet friendly, so we enjoyed our afternoon and didn’t feel rushed or at an inconvenience to others.

Google
Friendly service. Good beer/cocktail selection. Fun theme. They have been my local go-to for a good beer.

Google
First time coming to this place despite living in the area for years. This place is really cool, we came for a record store event but I would come back here to chill. Fairly large seating area with long tables and seating at the bar. I got one of the strawberry basil docktails and it was super tasty. The decor is really cool with the old burlap sacks all on the ceiling.

Google
Had a few good drinks here. Parking lot that runs around the building probably makes this a good place to go! I enjoyed a Pomegranate Smoothie and the old favorite, Apricot Blonde.

Google
We love Dry Dock! The Apricot line is amazing. The vibe in the Taproom is immaculate- complete with games, amazing beer and great service.

Yelp
Dry Dock Brewery is located in an unassuming building in Aurora. Not only do they have a ton of seating, they have a classroom dedicated to teaching how to make beer plus a beer and wine supply store next door, all accessible through the pub. While I personally think the pub itself needs a make over, you don't really go for the atmosphere, it's the drinks! Not only is the beer creative and delish but the cocktails or Docktails are amazing! The strawberry basil is my favorite. I like that you can purchase canned beer and docktails including making your own 6 pack. They do not serve food inside however there are rotating food trucks outside, see website for schedule (Cousins Maine Lobster on the day we went).

Yelp
We've been going there since, well, before it was trendy (Way back in the early 2000's). They have always taken brewing seriously...and it shows!
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
Dry Dock is always a solid beer option, especially if you like sours. I've had several of their beers before but never been to their brewery. I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, friendly staff, and nice outdoor patio! They also have decent snack options!
google avatar

Robert N.

Yelp
Dry dock has a very spacious interior that is set up well to handle both groups and couples. There isn't a ton of bar seating so it skews a little more towards bringing people than going solo and meeting people. The beer-tenders were super friendly and able at answer questions and recommendations about their brew selections which was great. The beer selection here is great! A lot of breweries center in on a type of beer they are really good at and don't have a lot of selection outside of that. But Dry Dock has a brew for almost every beer preference. It is a bit pricey in relation to other breweries, but not unreasonable.

Yelp
Swung by Dry Dock while in Aurora and happy we did. Upon arriving, noticed they had a food truck out front and a lot of people enjoying themselves inside. We walked up to the bar and asked for a flight - they informed us they didn't do flights. We ended up just both getting a full pour of beers we wanted and sounded good. The bartender was friendly, seemed a little irritated, but served us promptly. We closed out and had a seat at a little two top table since the place was packed. The beer was ok, I liked that they had a beer classroom with classes you could sign up for. I thought that was really interesting and something I'd never seen before!

Yelp
we had a surprise engagement party here and all went very well. great space for friends to mingle while enjoying good beer! we also loved the food truck that was there that night.

Yelp
Unlikely spot for an amazing brewery. We came into town for a wedding and the couple hosted a welcome party here and when we pulled up we were surprised by the strip mall location. However! Once you're inside you forget where you are because the ambience and beer are so amazing. I would host a party here, too. We tried many beers, loved many beers. The highlights of my visit are the lime infused lager, the key lime pie beer, and the apricot blonde- not to be confused with the apricot sour (still good) but the blonde- wow! Tastes just like the fruit. Somehow, with the key lime pie beer I could taste every component of the pie- filling, crust and cream. Good job dry dock!

Yelp
Flavor bomb! If you're looking for something different than the main stream, this place is it! If a pina colada had a baby with an IPA .. you'd have a delicious pineapple milkshake IPA!! My second drink was a ginger lime seltzer, also super delicious! This place has tons of seating. The bartender was helpful and friendly. Our table was cleared off periodically (which was a good thing for the five of us!). I've never been to a brewery with as many flavor profiles as Dry Dock.

Yelp
Favorite local brewery. Staff is friendly and the beers are always delicious. Trivia Wednesday and bingo on Thursday are our typical times to visit.

Yelp
I hosted a customer event here in the semi private room, where we all got a lesson on bring beer and enjoyed delicious barbecue and enjoyed a great afternoon together. Everyone is extremely helpful experts, friendly, and went above and beyond to make our experience perfect.

Yelp
This is our all-time favorite local brewery in Aurora. It has great outdoor seating when the weather is perfect. It's also a great place to celebrate OctoberFest. My husband loves the apricot. It's always the go-to brew when it is a hot summer afternoon. During COVID, the brewery assembled an outdoor area with tents. I was able to meet co-workers for fun meetings.

Amy H.

Yelp
Just had my 50th birthday party at Dry Dock -- the semi-private room fit was great for our 35 guests. We had a dedicated beertender come to us to take orders and bring drinks -- fantastic service. Also, the pricing for room rental was much better than other breweries we considered and several of my guests commented how glad they were we picked Dry Dock given they love their beer. It helped that we could bring in our own food -- Gyros King is only 3 doors down and had great catering options for apps, salad and pizza! I'll be back for future events!
google avatar

Yelp
The brewery has a nice atmosphere, staff are polite and conversational, and the beer is always on point!

Yelp
Checked this place out after work. Very busy so I I assumed it was good. I assumed correctly. Atmosphere: 9 - tons of seating inside and outside. Relaxed and nothing annoying going on! Service: 10 - Informative bartender. Servers also come to your table to take additional beer orders. I haven't had this service before except for at another Brewery in Denver. It definitely beats standing in line! Beer: 10 - the coconut porter was really good. I tried an IPA that was solid as well. I will return to try more next time I am in Denver.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
I'm not from around here (CT) and I don't drink beer. My traveling, beer loving co-workers found this place based on reviews. I got the Strawberry Basil Docktail. It was delicious!

Yelp
They have hired probably the worst bartender - i dunno even guess what the issue is I've been at thousands of breweries (or hundreds). I've never had this sort of event happen. Maybe at prost when they kept serving people This lady at the tab on Saturday in April started pretty unfriendly. So no actually docktails on draft - so no issue there i picked out a beer She pours and said what is the tab, i said new tab jusr use -first name last initial- She said - to me - that i can't use that. There might be more than one firstInitial. Really? Never has been an issue - ever. Okay fine I'll use anakinskywalker "That's not helpful" At that point I've had enough, so I just said "yeah i don't know what you want from me" and gave up and left My sister in law said they never asked for a name for tab they just used her card. I was like "why was she giving me a hard time?" So maybe this lady was just weird for me - but definitely meant no purchases from us. I'll stick to copper kettle

Joel M.

Yelp
Really enjoy the beers here but have come to be leery of breweries that make it next to impossible to find their beer prices. My wife and I have made a couple recent visits and today I was surprised when two pints and a Crowler came to $32 bucks. Didn't order any speciality beers, or so I thought. I guess Dry Dock considers them to be pretty special. They do have great beers and really know their craft but might not know good customer experience like having published prices that are readily available.

Yelp
1 of the greatest breweries in Colorado. I remember when they were the size of a water closet. To now be this huge location [South Dock]. The also have another location, North Dock, still have not been there, 1 day, 1 day. Without fail the rotation of seasonal options along with flagships you can never go wrong. On Fridays there are Frikins. An assortment of events, food trucks at times, trivia, Octoberfest.....ahhhhhh too many things to list, check the website & their calendar online! The staff are cool, extremely knowledgeable and just love beer and teaching it to all. They have amazing staff & beer options always.
google avatar

Betty G.

Yelp
I've been coming here since the bar was just a fold up table in front of the bathroom, so I gotta say that I miss those days. The beers here are solid and sometimes they have amazing food trucks, but it's lost a lot of its original charm. Seems impersonal and like the servers could give two sh!ts about you. I remember a time when you felt like family here. That's gone.

Dakota T.

Yelp
I was recommended this blend a few years ago a by one of the bartenders before it was on tap and fell in love. I was worried I would never taste it again and now it's on tap! Every time I am in town I make sure to set aside enough time to visit Dry Dock. Cheers!

Nicole P.

Yelp
Friendly and attentive service, great space in the classroom and excellent brews...made for a fun going away party! I would recommend contacting them for your next gathering! Hassle free from booking to closing the party! I'm so thankful for many fun memories at Dry Dock, but this was the BEST!
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
Drydock brewing makes one of my all-time favorite beers. It's the drydock vanilla Porter. It's A porter, very dark but not as heavy as the most porters with delicious hints of vanilla. Mallory greeted us at the front door and helped us to choose our flight. Emily was working that day and was delightful and Geoff help me by answering questions. This place doesn't serve food but they do allow you to order outside food to bring in or you can bring your own for a picnic. I WOULD go back and I would recommend you going there.
google avatar

Peter G.

Yelp
This place is definitely one of our favorites! Their apricot blonde, Hopricot if you prefer IPAs, vanilla porter, and coffee stout (mix the vanilla and coffee together if they have both on tap for a "vanilla latte") are unbeatable. They also always have great seasonal IPA's and other flavored blondes, not to mention regular fun small batches. Service is always friendly and it's a great place to hang out.

Yelp
Wonderful place to have a retirement party. Staff is wonderful and atmosphere is perfect for a gathering. And of course, excellent choice of brews!

Russell V.

Yelp
Wife and I had our baby shower here. It was a ton of fun. Great beer, good prices, the service was quick, and it was relatively painless to arrange renting out the barrel room. I've been here a few other times and it's always been a nice sort of laid back place to get a beer. I'll be back again many more times.

Bryce L.

Yelp
My company hosted a holiday party at the location. Everything was in order when we arrived and the correspondence with the planning team was very smooth. Of course, the beer is always great, but the space was perfect for networking and socializing. Great place to host a casual party!

Yelp
A-Town Funkfest is what you get when Four of Aurora's best breweries (Dry Dock Brewing Company, Ursula Brewery, Peak to Peak Tap and Brew, and Launch Pad Brewery) get together to showcase their best sours, saisons, and grisettes! Since I love all those funky brews, it's safe to say I'm a fan. I opted to start with a flight to try a little from all the breweries represented. For my flight I chose: Dry Dock Brewing Company's Peach Whiskey Sour, Peak to Peak Tap and Brew's Last Petal Saison and Last Barrel Golden Sour, Launch Pad Brewery's Transit of Venus, Ursula Brewery's Melismatic and Coal Miners Delight. Whoa! I never would've expected the amazing range of flavors these breweries achieved. The Last Petal Saison had a tea like quality to it. The Peach Whiskey Sour reminded me of a peach pie with a whiskey sauce. Melismatic was very fruity. They were all solid choices! After sampling all of those, I opted for a full pour of Dry Dock's - Maurea. Yum! Maurea was full of berry notes and aged in multiple barrels giving it a great depth of flavor. In keeping with the theme of the day, there was a DJ on hand spinning some great funky tunes. Yasss! What's better than a Saturday spent sipping beers on the patio with friends and your pup while listening to the smooth crooning of Al Green? Nothing, that's what. Nothing! Way to knock it out of the park for your Second Annual A-Town Funkfest! Def can't wait to see what future installments bring to the table.

Yelp
Would give 0 stars. AWFUL. Was there for a funeral event, and AFTER the reservation, the bartender on duty began to yell at the man whom just lost his mother. Complaing about having to stay late and what not. The man offered to help clean and even left a hefty tip. The bartender continued to yell at the man. It was absolutely heart breaking to watch! That bartender should be ashamed of themselves. Awful. Awful. Awful. Will NEVER return. Awful.

Bob B.

Yelp
Held a retirement celebration in the classroom. Everything was great. Staff was helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend Dry Dock and would use them again for a celebration.

Yelp
The only beer I drink for starters... but coming here is always fun. Trivia one night a week, indoor disc gold on others, just a fun little brewery. Highly recommended!!

Tano A.

Yelp
Great beer and great people one of my favorite breweries in Colorado, I just wish they would have more IPA options .

Ken J.

Yelp
Dry Dock has been our favorite brewery for years. So, when we started planing my retirement party deciding on the Dry Dock facility was a no-brainer. Izzie, the events manager, was fantastic and the party was a huge success. Thanks Dry Dock!!
google avatar

Jena L.

Yelp
Dry Dock has awesome beer. That's it, that's the review. Jk jk! Dry dock really does make incredible beers. Apricot blond is hands down my favorite beer of all time. Usually I just pick it up at the liquor store but I decided to stop in and fill a growler with something outside of my norm. I tried pb&j, blueberry smoothie, and my husband tried their peanut butter beer. All of them were really good but pb&j was the best! It's a combo of the peanut butter beer and blueberry smoothie so I guess it makes sense I liked it. As far as COVID goes they are great. Tables are spaced, everyone wears a mask and you use hand sanitizer before entering.

Yelp
It was ok... The atmosphere was pretty cool, considering it's located in a strip mall in Aurora. Very old-school pub feel. I did like the vibe. The service wasn't anything special. Me and my brewery touring buddy did have a few questions about their brew. However the bar tender wasn't of any help at all. He simply pointed to the large list of brews listed in the chalkboard without any explanation of any of the beers. Because of his careless attitude I assumed they didn't let you sample beers before making a selection, maybe they do, I don't know. Now being spoiled by all the flavorful breweries Colorado has to offer, we were both highly dissatisfied with the lack of aroma and flavor in the beers we selected. We both had two selections between us, so four selections total. We were not impressed with any of them. The best part was the Mexican food we ordered from across the street.

Yelp
Nice space and good beer. I came here after visiting The Brew Hut next door. I have had some of Dry Dock's beer in the past, but this was the first time in the brewery itself. It was not busy, but it was mid afternoon on a weekday. I sampled the hazy IPA and then ordered Hop Abomination. The IPA was good, but the hazy had a slight apricot flavor that seemed out of place. I asked the beertender about it, but she told me emphatically that she gave me the right beer and didn't seem interested in any further conversation about it. I was actually surprised by her response, but maybe she was more interested in her book. I really enjoyed the barrels in the tasting room and the space was large, with a connection to the brew shop. I am sure this is a popular spot for locals and they all seemed pretty content. As someone who often travels just to visit different breweries, this one will not be one I plan to revisit. I admit I may have a completely different experience if I was to come again and I know the beer is good, but the first impression did not impress.
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
This has been a great local brewery turned from a brew shop. Always great new beers and a set of constants that are world wide famous. Great staff and amazing brews. Always willing to talk and teach the patrons and step into the original brew shop for advice and products for making home brew and making cheese.
google avatar

Macy G.

Yelp
The brew here is by far our favorite. The brewers know their stuff here. They have many different kinds to suit your preference. This includes hard seltzers (which are just ok). They need some new flavors like strawberry, hint. They have small batch Fridays and we've enjoyed many of them but the catch is ... you fall in love and then they don't return ... I'm talking to you Arnold Palmer. They used to have music bingo with Nathan ... not sure why it stopped but that was a really good time. You can order food from other places to deliver or carry in yourself. This is a tap house - no food trucks. Bring your own water and make sure to ask for utensils when you order your food. We had brought in ceviche and didn't have utensils - lesson learned! This place saved us during Covid. We enjoyed sitting outside under the canopy. We are lifelong customers for sure. Cheers!
google avatar

Amanda P.

Yelp
They are award winners for a reason. I've been drinking their beers forever but have never been to their brewery. SUPER PACKED when we went but they were having an event... still lots of space available and PSA: you're gonna have to share a high top table lol We tried nearly everything on the beer list and we loved more than we didn't. Worth the trip. Staff is friendly and we all had a wonderful time.
google avatar

Jodi P.

Yelp
Love this place, so many great varieties and choices. Their Docktails are really good and I love their beer and spiked sparkling waters as well. Fun times with great people and great customer service.

Yelp
Booked a room to host our baby shower and it turned out perfect! We were allowed set up and take down time. Thanks again for hosting us!

Yelp
Everything a home brewer would ever want or need. We stopped in this shop with a goal to find a certain yeast for a Porter I was about to brew back home in Omaha and we were successful! The range of different equipment, grains, additives and overall improvements to brewing is immeasurable. I look forward to someday having something like this in Omaha to make life easier! We shopped around a bit and ended up sharing a few pints while we watched the in-house brewers at work. Great place to unwind and looked to have a few good events as well!
google avatar

Ariella P.

Yelp
Always excellent. Friendly and attentive staff, popcorn, easily accessible water station, and root beer on draft our kiddo enjoyed. One of the first places we show all of our out of town guests. Enjoyed their new cherry sour, whose name I forgot, sorry!
google avatar

Cat C.

Yelp
The only non-alcoholic option is canned soda with 36 grams of sugar per can. Would love to see some other options.
google avatar

Suzannw M.

Yelp
Great! Apricot Blonde is my favorite. Love that the outdoor patio is dog friendly and waitstaff is always nice. Enjoy popping in after a jaunt at cherry Creek Dog Park
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
Was here during the Great American Beer Festival. They had a few special brews for this occasion. They released a different one each day for the event. The flight of 6 3 ounce tastings is $8. The double vanilla porter was pure chocolatey goodness. The blonde apricot was smooth and refreshing. They had many sours available but they were out of their stouts when we dropped by. The plaza has food places in case you were hungry but the brewery only has popcorn. I recommend the gyro place at the end. The service was fine.

Yelp
FAIL! Who the heck charges $26 for a 64 oz growler?? Dry Dock, that's who. My wife and I have been loyal patrons here for 6 years. The last time (early spring) that I refilled a growler with IPA it was $14. Today, I asked my wife to stop by and refill a couple 64 oz growlers on her way home. She loaded up our empties and when she got home, told me "these were $26 EACH!" I was sure she was mistaken, so I called Dry Dock South and asked what a 64 ounce growler refill cost. I was told "ahh, somewhere around $25". When I questioned the guy, he said, "yeah, our prices have gone up." Ya Think??? I was floored! I can (though I no longer will) buy a 6 pack of most any of their beers for $9.99 tops at Safeway or most any liquor store. Simple math tells me that 6 x 12 = 72. So that makes it $10 for 72 ounces. Yet they are charging 2 1/2 times that for 8 ounces less than a 6 pack?? Give me a break. You guys have lost not only your mind, but a loyal customer who (used to) happily spend hundreds of dollars per year at your place. Good luck with those price increases...

Yelp
My go-to for local beer! Beer: Best selection around! They literally have everything, from blondes to stouts, fruity to hoppy and even sours! Whatever your favorite beer is they are sure to have something you won't only like but will leave you wanting to come back for more.My current favorite is the Vanilla latte, which is a mix of two of their delicious beers! Don't get me started on Firkin Friday where you can get a glass of their small batch beer. Their firkin beers include a peanut butter porter, apple pie helles and so much more. Join them on Friday to intrigue your taste buds! Service: Always excellent service! I never have an empty beer glass. You don't even need to leave your seat to grab another beer at the bar because they are constantly walking around ensuring everyone's glass is full! Atmosphere: They have a large space so grab your family and friends and enjoy a beer! A lot of breweries leave you feeling crammed but even during their busiest hours you won't be elbow to elbow with a stranger! If you are a beer connoisseur they have the Brew Hut located conveniently next door where you can find everything you need to Brew your own beer at home. The plus side? Since they are attached you can grab a beer at Dry Dock and shop around Brew Hut, beer in hand; what more could you ask for? Overall experience: By far my favorite brewery in town. Amazing beer and excellent service. Be sure to stop by and give them a try, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Great beer Horrible service 12 tables outside and the 4 servers kept checking the same 6 tables and ignoring the others. Would ignore my eye contact and walk right by. Sat for 30 minutes with an empty glass. We would watch the servers take 1 order at a time and carry out 1 beer at a time.

Heather H.

Yelp
Man, you guys are my favorite but I can't justify 26 to fill a growler. I understand inflation is rough but to go up by almost double is crazy. Makes me sad because you guys are the only beer I truly enjoy
