"There’s so much more in Waco than just burgers and barbecue, and spots like D’s Mediterranean are proof. Keep it light with crunchy falafel, beef kebabs, and (of course) plenty of hummus. If greasy diner fare is what you seek, D’s also serves fried catfish, burgers, and chicken fried steak." - Courtney E. Smith, Amy McCarthy

Google
My family and I went to visit Waco and were feeling super hungry we were looking for a good Greek restaurant and we finally stumbled upon this one. We got our food pretty quickly and the employees were super kind to us taking our orders 😊 Their fries and onion rings were crispy and flavorful. We also had gotten the chips that were seasoned well and had a nice crunch to them, We 💕loved to dip the chips with the hummus that we recommended you guys try. Their salads were super fresh, and their gyro wrappers were delicious as well.

Stopped in for a late lunch while in town so it was pretty quiet. Definitely a place we'd stop by again next time to try more dishes. As it was, the teenager raved about the Greek chicken salad, and my husband and I really enjoyed the gyro and falafel. I forgot to order pita chips I'd seen in a review pic until after I was already full and noticed them on the salad. Stole a couple and will make room for them next time.

Mr. Nadhum Esa is great food server and owner, food is authentic with 24 years of experience best place in Waco Texas

Google
We have traveled the world wide and have tasted authentic Mediterranean foods. D’s Mediterranean ranks pretty high on our global list of must stops when traveling through Waco. It is $$ but very good. Serves good on disposable plates, cups and flatware, but that doesn’t change the taste! Thank you for a great meal and a pleasant experience!

Genevieve Moran-Sherry

Google
As the other reviews stated. The place is not big. I went on a Saturday around 3. A good time to go. We had the place to ourselves until 4. The food was on point we all loved it. My son loved it. He is a picky eater. We order the kabobs chicken, beef and lamb. Little guy had chicken fingers. I added the picks. A good place to try mom and pops home cook meals.

Google
This restaurant was a pleasant surprise as I had no idea what to expect as a first time customer. The food was excellent and very flavorful. The service was sort of slow as we arrived before the main dinner guest for the evening. I was not impressed with being served on styrofoam plates.

Rick Moore

Google
I had a grilled chicken salad. It's available as a full order or half order. Full order would work for 2 people most of the time unless you are really hungry. For me, the menu is a bit lacking. I was looking for a gyro plate which they had but the description didn't appeal to me but that could be my lack of experience with Mediterranean food. Quiet, calm place for lunch. Recommend.

Google
By far the best, MOST AUTHENTIC Mediterranean food I've had anywhere in Central Texas. The gyro meat is melt in your mouth tender, the wrap soft and not too thick; perfectly balanced. NEVER have I had a more exquisite serving of baklava. The menu boasts many scrumptious offerings at fair prices. You won't be disappointed here.

Yelp
This is a Mom and Pop place. Very local abierto outside of Downtown Waco. The prices could surprise you but the food is really good and fresco. The kabob is big and enough for a person, the rice is super fluffy, and the salad is super fresh. I wish that I had found this place before and it would be a repeater.

Yelp
We were in town visiting and went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend and it was closed! (It was a Friday evening at 7 PM).

Raouf N.

Yelp
It was great restaurant even the grape leaves were made right with rice and meat. The service was amazing and friendly people. I would be back for more food

J F.

Yelp
I ordered a falafel wrap that was unremarkable. Mushy falafel, the bread was just off stale.

Josh C.

Yelp
D's came highly recommended by all my Waco friends, so I had to check it out. The food at D's in my opinion is better than 99% of the places I tried out in the Mediterranean and Middle East! I got the chicken wrap, and the chicken is soooooo juicy, and the char is so yummy! The wrap is so chewy and such a good compliment to the chicken and veggies inside. Local family feel, and the owners are so sweet! Don't be surprised if the customers start a conversation with you while you wait for your food. This place feels like you're being invited to eat a meal at your grandparent's house. Note: Parking is limited but you should be able to drive around and find parking in the neighborhood nearby.

Jennifer A.

Yelp
We eat Dallas Mediterranean food frequently and D's was poor quality and more expensive. The chicken kebab was tough and seemed fatty/rubbery with very few vegetables and bland rice. The falafel was good. The hummus seemed watered down and flavorless. Would not recommend.

Lisa O.

Yelp
Kind of off the freeway but it has old world charm. It was worth the drive for a nice lunch break. Clean restrooms, pretty mural in the dining room and food cooked fresh while you wait. We will save this as a spot to stop whenever we are driving through from Dallas to Austin.

Yelp
Great Food! Friendly people Reasonable prices Clean Seems to do a lot of take out however we ate there

Leisel M.

Yelp
We were a bit skeptical when we pulled up at 630pm and there were no cars in the parking lot but decided to try it anyway. So glad that we did! The dinning area was clean and the kitchen door was open. We could see two ladies in the kitchen preparing food as well as what appeared to be the owner. He washed hands and came out of the kitchen to greet us with a huge smile as he was drying his hands on the towel hanging from his apron. Our food portions were generous and so delicious! Several more patrons arrive and it was not long before the place was full. In the true Greek fashion there was lots of kind greetings as each customer entered and our worries of the day melted away as laughter filled the room from each of the different tables. This is definately a hidden gem!

Ann-Marie F.

Yelp
First impression: wasn't. When I step in a restaurant, I want to smell what they're cooking, make my mouth water. This didn't happen. Smelled of musty building and cleaning supplies. After spending $99 (including tip) for 3 meals, we waited 30 minutes for our meals to be delivered. It wasn't busy in the restaurant but appeared there may have only been 1-2 people cooking. Meals were served on styrofoam plates which is frustrating for the amount they charge. The beef kebabs were tender but not very flavorful. The rice tasted like a box mix. The falafel were tasty but dry, hummus was delicious and the kibbe were dry and needed salt. I really wanted to try the stuffed grape leaves and spanikopita which was highly recommended but they were out at noon on a Monday. I would maybe try again in case this was an off day, but was frustrated at the cost. We definitely had plenty to eat as we all left full so at least can say the quantity of food was comparable to the cost.

Hayda N.

Yelp
I wish this was a good review because I enjoy supporting family owned businesses, but I'm disappointed to see how high they have raised their prices. They have raised their prices of the meals by nearly $10. I understand there's inflation, but to increase a 3 piece chicken meal to be $25 is outrageous. At this point, I'll take my money to a chain restaurant where I can get more for my money. I appreciate the hardworking couple who run the restaurant, but every time I place an order on the phone, I always end up waiting way longer than the estimated wait time (30 minutes longer). If it wasn't for the overpriced meals, I'd still be supporting this business. Unfortunately, the prices are too outrageous. I can get way more food for $25 at another restaurant.

Mehdi D.

Yelp
What a nice surprise on my way to Big Bend NF. The lamb kebab and Lebanese salad were super good. The stuffed grape leaves were not fresh, though. I recommend their kebabs.

Bill E.

Yelp
Superb. We were in town to watch our son run in a meet at Baylor, and we chose this place for lunch, and were very happy with that choice. Wife and I had tenderloin kabobs (medium rare), and our son had a grilled chicken wrap. For sides, we had Lebanese salad, and cucumber yogurt salad. We also shared a bowl of tabbouleh. Every single thing we had was fresh, flavorful, and all around excellent. It's also a small mom and pop operation, which we loved. They both were so kind.

Steve G.

Yelp
This Waco staple is really good for some reliable tasty Mediterranean food. Not deep on the regional level but consistently good wraps and kabobs.

Matt C.

Yelp
10/10. Everything was fresh, seasoned & juicy. Get the beef tenderloin, it's delicious.

Kelley H.

Yelp
The service was amazing! The owners are friendly and very hard working! They visited our table and talked to my 5 year old grandson! As to the food ...freaking delicious!! We got gyros and some sides and they were the best I have ever had! The stuffed grape leaves and the hummus, along with the gyros, will be worth the 1.5 hour drive! Don't forget the baklava! You can thank me later!

Chris J.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our first time here. My wife and I had lunch w my parents. I had the gyro plate w rice and two sides. I chose hummus and baba ganoug. Everything was very yummy and I had pita bread w it. My wife got some tenders and my mom got a gyro. Don't recall what my dad ordered. You order up front and the owner brought it out to us. As I said earlier I loved it and it was very flavorful. I was given some of that tzatziki sauce on the side and that was good. I had to add a bit of pepper and salt to my rice but over all it was two thumbs up on this one. Very happy my parents suggested here and will hopefully return here really soon. I love mom and pop type shops and this one was definitely the tops in my book. I would suggest arriving early unless picking up as the dining area as well as the parking is a bit limited. The owners are very nice.

Tim G.

Yelp
We tried D's one night while searching for falafel in Waco. Parking is very tight but enough for the small dinning area. The atmosphere is very plain and not inspiring. However, the food was good. We ordered the falafel plate with humus and baba ganoush, the chicken kabob plate with fries and humus, and a slice of baklava. The falafel was very herbaceous, crispy, light. All of the humus was creamy and delicious and a perfect compliment to the crispy homemade spiced pita chips. The chicken kabobs were juicy and well charred. The baba was a little thin and disappointing but easily overlooked with all of the other good food. The real treat in this meal was the baklava. It was crispy and chewy all at once with great depth of flavor to support its sweetness. Well worth it. We enjoyed eating at D's. We didn't enjoy the price tag for the meal. If you are just looking for good Greek food and not worried about the cost, this is your place. Our meal was $50.

Clau B.

Yelp
Don't sleep on D's!! This place is owned by a sweet couple. .. If you want authentic Mediterranean food, you have to stop by D's. Growing up in Waco, this was always one of my favorite places. I recommend getting the lamb gyro with rice. You can't go wrong. The lamb is very flavorful and juicy. The Spanakopita is out of this world, if you have never tried it, please do yourself a favor and order it. It's a small spinach pie with a flaky buttery crust. Everything I've ever ordered here has tasted fresh and amazing. Please do yourself a favor, and visit D's. You will not regret it!

Marie D.

Yelp
Absolutely charming and clean family run business. The food was entirely fresh and delicious. I tried the falafel, baba gaunoush with pita chips, Lebanese salad, and tzatziki, and they were all so, so, good. The food came out very fast and the service was great. An item had been left off my order and the lady apologetically fixed it immediately. The prices were super reasonable. The gentlemen cooking the food looked like he was really enjoying himself and brought out each tray with a little smile. It reminded me of the kinda place your great aunt and uncle might be running when you were a kid. I'm definitely going back.

Alex R.

Yelp
Excellent food! I was very impressed by the balance of flavor (not overpowering or overly vinegary as some Mediterranean food can be); portion size was solid, food was freshly made, and the service was great. Highly recommended!

Sunshine S.

Yelp
Driving south from Dallas, my daughter Googled restaurants as we neared Waco. Since we hadn't Greek/Mediterranean in quite some time, we decided to stop at D's. It's quite an unassuming place -- and older -- so it's easy to miss. We ordered 2 gyros, dolmadess, and spanakopita at the counter service, and it was brought out to us. Food: Delicious! Everything was freshly made, and the dolmatas were still hot from being steamed. I had never had dolmades hot, but they were super tasty. Spanakopita also straight out of the oven and divine. Most times I've had a subtle blend of flavors, but the herb mix added to this was yummy. Tzaziki... The owners: Adorable and sweet. We came in at 1 pm, and there was a steady stream of customers during the hour we were there. We will definitely be returning!

Marc S.

Yelp
This place is awesome it doesn't look fancy from the outside, BUT I love the Kebob both Beef and Chicken, the different salads are excellent as well, the place is always packed at lunch and the food isn't made fast but it is worth the wait. It is family run business and the staff are always friendly. I go about every 3 to 4 weeks but enough that when I didn't go after a surgery for about 2 months , I was greeted "oh hello my friend! it has been so long I was worried about you " (this was during the height of COVID) , I explained my absence and he said he was so glad to see me and you could tell he was being genuine. It is THAT kind of local family run place. Where the owner makes you feel comfortable and the food makes you feel good and full.

Melissa A.

Yelp
I absolutely loved every bite. It was such a pleasure. I got the Gyro plate. So yummy. My sides were baba ghanouj. I think there's is the best with the pita chips. I also got fried green beans which are also so delicious. Took a friend and it was her first time there she ordered the falafel and loved it with spanakopita. Thank you so much for the quality food that you provide. I can't wait to go back again

Mystie S.

Yelp
Found this place recommended on Trip Advisor...and it had good Yelp reviews too. So glad we stopped! True "mom and pop" business. Don't expect food to be done quickly...they made everything fresh and it was worth the wait. It's not a fast food joint. The food was wonderful...we really enjoyed it, and this is now moved to the top for our favorite place to stop when passing through Waco. The place was very clean, and we enjoyed a little conversation with the owners.

Lynn S.

Yelp
This sweet couple cook such great food! So fresh. Great seasoning. Transports you to the Mediterranean coast!

Caleb M.

Yelp
Love this place. They allow you BYOB for dining in. The homemade pit chips are great. I usually get the chicken wrap (shawarma) but everything I've had is good.

Amanda N.

Yelp
This place was pretty good. We went in the late afternoon when no one else was there. It is kind of a hole in the wall. Out of the way. Unique food - hard to find Mediterranean in Waco and it definitely tasted okay.

T K.

Yelp
Best restaurant in Waco! Fresh food, great flavor and great customer service. The steak kabobs tasted amazing and were very tender. Also recommend the Greek salad and hummus. We will definitely be back!

Allen T.

Yelp
If you're craving Mediterranean cuisine and in Waco, Texas you can't go wrong with this quaint little hole in the wall. The people are very friendly and the food is fresh and very good! Served on paper plates, you dine in a homey non-descript place with really good food! We found the owner very friendly and spoke to him about a You Tube video we watched about his place before we decided to try out! Check it out. He teaches you how to make tabouli! We found the video charming so we decided to check the place out and was pleasantly surprised! A nice little jewel in Waco!

Simeon A.

Yelp
D's is delicious!! I really like the gyro wrap. The owners are kind and keep a clean restaurant! Also the fried okra is great.

Mark S.

Yelp
Exceptional food! D's dining atmosphere is casual and the amazing food items makes it one of our favorite places to eat out in Waco. The owner is wonderful, caring and conscientious about the quality of his food.

Jonathan B.

Yelp
First time ever having Mediterranean food. Had the lamb gyro meat over rice with falafel, hummus, and pita bread to-go and everything was delicious. Besides the good food, the people were very friendly and they had a nice, clean looking restaurant. I highly recommend this place.

Kristina I.

Yelp
Yummmmmmmmmm Cute little place with the best food Worth every penny. Try it out. I had a gryo and although that may sound basic. It was delish.

Paula S.

Yelp
Greeted by Hippocrates quote "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be the food". Then confronted with styrofoam and plastic everything. Wish the owners would go a step further with their logic of where we are going to get healthy food. It's a fast food restaurant that's poorly arranged. Self serve soda machine is in high traffic area of front door and register. Clutter behind the counter and kitchen door was open to display more disarray. Our table had a ketchup bottles with old caked on ketchup around the lid. Staff comes out of kitchen with food plates on red plastic trays and will stand next to you and yell your ticket number instead of approaching the two tables in the restaurant. Overall sense of not wanting you there or you're an inconvenience. Now to the food. Pretty pricey. $18 for one lamb kabob with 4-5 pieces of meat. Box mashed potatoes. Green beans were good. Hummus is flavorless. Pita bread isn't house made or it was old-either way it was hard and dry. Lebanese salad and falafel were both decent but unmemorable. Overall, you get the impression that someone had a vision once but have lost their way.

Sherry M.

Yelp
My family has been eating at D's for years. The couple that own this restaurant are amazing and committed to putting out delicious authentic Mediterranean cuisine. Their tahini sauce is the best I have ever eaten. Do yourself a favor and eat at this gem of a restaurant!

Christine P.

Yelp
Get the gyro plate over rice! Get it get it get it! Plenty of food and delicious. For my sides, I got hummus (comes with pita chips or pita bread; I got the chips) and Lebanese salad. My BF got the falafel patties as one of his sides and those were great too. My sister got the grape leaves as one of her sides and it has an acquired taste - a little sour - but she liked it. Their customer service is also great. They are friendly and kindly gave us extra rice without charge! You shouldn't expect this though because they do charge extra for rice. Maybe it's because we bought a lot and also tipped pretty generously. (You pay/tip when you order your food at the counter.) Definitely recommend this place!!!

Asi A.

Yelp
Nothing fancy or pretentious here. D's creates a warm, family environment, serving authentic Mediterranean flavors, not found elsewhere in Waco--Lebanese labneh, authentic shawarma and pita. Mr. Nissam's care and attention to detail can be tasted in the delicious, alway consistent food. The gyro wrap is as good as you'll get anywhere.

Alyssa M.

Yelp
This place really lived up to the great reviews from everyone. The lady that took our order was so sweet & very helpful & informative. Greeted upon arrival & she brought us a little snack of hummus while we waited for our order. The food was very authentic & so full of flavor. Freshest hummus I've ever had. This is a little gem of Waco. Wish I would have came sooner. Can't wait to visit again. Thank your for your amazing food & great service.

Mei Li H.

Yelp
If you want Mediterranean food and you are in Waco, look no further than D's. It can be a bit of a drive if you are around the Baylor bubble, but it's worth it. I recommend the spanakopita - the only thing you'll be okay with flaking on you. For the entree, try the gyro plate or the gyro wrap. The price range is fair and the food reliably good. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy with paper plates and plastic utensils, but that doesn't seem to bother people. I like the quiet atmosphere and the great food!

Paul S.

Yelp
Excellent...excellent...excellent!!! Fresh ingredients prepared with a masterful touch. My wife and I were traveling through and stopped in after finding them on Yelp. So glad we did. Sweet owners who care about people and feeding them well.

Amira B.

Yelp
Came to Waco with lots of family for a mini vacation. We were looking for a halal restaurant and decided to try out D's. The food was amazing! Lamb was the only item halal on the day we came. We had gyro, Kafta kabab, falafel, fries, rice, hummus, cucumber yogurt. Everything was flavorful and delicious. Everyone loved it. If you are stopping in Waco, this place is a must. The service was great. It is family owned. There is lots of place to sit. Thank you for an awesome lunch D's!

Leslie C.

Yelp
There are not a lot of Mediterranean options, so I am grateful this was available for a weekend trip when traditional southern and BBQ fare were too rich for my stomach. I had a chicken gyro platter with a side salad (lettuce and tomato), rice, and pita slices. The man behind the counter (owner? manager?) was very friendly. Our food was out in good time. It is not the best food, but it is great for the price and in a chill environment. If you want something a little lighter that many of the options offered in Waco yet still tasty/hearty, this is a great place to try.

Alix A.

Yelp
I come here from Houston because the food is so good here! The lamb kabob is medium is perfect. The tabouli is the best in Texas! The owner is so friendly and warm. It's a must eat in Waco!

Haley B.

Yelp
This place is a delicious hidden gem in Waco. The food was fresh and deliciously prepared. My family and I ate dinner here. I got the gyro plate and my fiancé got the chicken wrap. Both of them were prepared very well and full or Mediterranean flavor. I highly recommend this place and plan on frequenting this great little find.

Ebad H.

Yelp
Best Mediterranean ever!! We were on our way to Dallas when decided to stop in Waco for quick bite. We ordered chicken wrap and falafel wrap. Both were made to perfection. Highly recommended. Staff was welcoming and kind

Tracy S.

Yelp
Consistantly good food. Portions are rather small so ask for double meat if you have a bigger appetite! This is the best place in Waco for gyros, hands down!

Cherie C.

Yelp
Clean & friendly, fresh & delicious! The falafel is my favorite and the baklava is perfect, not too sweet with lots of nuts!

Simeon A.

Yelp
D's is delicious!! I really like the gyro wrap. The owners are kind and keep a clean restaurant! Also the fried okra is good.
