D’s Roti & Trini Cuisine

All yuh! I highly recommend Ds! Their customer service is top-notch, and the food is authentic and delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, which included doubles, potato and channa with dhalpuri roti, beef and potatoes with paratha, and corn soup. The beef was tender and nice! Everything seasoned perfectly. As a Trinidadian, I can confidently say that Ds serves genuine Trinidadian cuisine. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Absolutely loved this place. Everything is authentic to Trinidadian cuisine and delicious. They make you feel like you're part of the family. Get your name, share their name, get your sporting interest on the TV. I had a Dalpouri roti with curry chicken and potatoes wrapped inside. Amazing flavors and texture. They've brought a bit of Trinidad to Chicago. Thank you for that. I'll be back.

D's Roti is the best, or "d' bess" as they would say in Trinidad! D's Roti makes quality, delicious, authentic Trinidadian food. My wife is from Port of Spain, and she says D's Roti reminds her of home. We always get the paratha because it is always warm, comforting, and full of flavor. We've had the curry salmon, goat, chicken, and potato & chana - all is delicious. And D is so sweet - we've been ordering from her for years; when we see her she always has a smile on her face and checks in on us. We couldn't recommend D's more!

As a Grenadian, I was very happy and excited when I fall upon this authentic Trini Restaurant! I’ve tried the roti and I give it 8/10 and the goat doubles 10/10! This place is and will be my 2nd home when my pots are turned down. I love how friendly the workers are! Really felt an instant warm welcome and a family spirit. Thank you for serving us authentic food!

Ladies and I craving to try doubles during our Chicago trip. Found the perfect spot-- flavor, host, music, and vibe was popping. Not only is D great-- her service and food BOMB. Great flavor. Do Not forget the sorrel.

I'm so lucky I can try food from Trinidad and it's incredible here. The Dhalpuri roti is such a comforting potato and chickpea pouch with soft, flat, layered bread containing the delicious stew, with ground chickpeas in between. The Doubles' dough was similar, and a fantastic mix of chickpeas, hot pepper, tamarind and cucumber flavors. Great meal on a cold day. Super nice family business. Update 19/5/2024. My Pakistani friend and I enjoyed the curry potato & channa (chickpeas) paratha roti, pineapple chow (a chopped salad with chilis and cilantro) and of course, Doubles. D and her family were warm and friendly as usual. They really took care of us and guests providing all the appropriate utensils, plates, checking in on us (after we've taken bites of our foods).

D's was amazing great, kind service! We had fresh-made sorrel, doubles, and goat buss up shut. The food was gone soo fast we only have 1 food picture. If you are in Chicago and want trini food -a must visit.

Incredible Trini cuisine made by an amazing chef. I ordered doubles x2 with tamarind and pepper sauce, dhalpuri roti with curry goat, and mac pie. I ate one order of doubles at D’s and took the rest to go. I shared a couple of bites with my wife when I got home and inhaled the rest. The vibes at D’s were great with soca music playing in the background. If I lived closer to D’s I would be there once a week.

AMAZING Trini food, feels like home. Quality food, great service and hospitality. I have to get my fix at least once a month.

My spouse and I met my sister here for a late lunch yesterday, and it was a fantastic experience. I've only had this style of roti once, in Montreal, and my experience there left me with a really high standard. D's meets that standard and then some. I ordered the paratha roti with lamb, and it came served as a stew with the bread on the side. (I don't know what the traditional way is, and frankly I didn't care.) The stew was cooked to perfection, a savory and peppery delight. The bread was hot and fresh, and delicious. I also tried the red pea soup, which was also a savory and peppery delight. Just amazing. The portions were generous enough that we saved most of my entree and ate it for dinner. We also took home a couple of slices of a lemon pound cake that was moist and delicious. The place isn't fancy, but it's clean and cozy and there are a few tables in the small dining area if you want to eat there. There is plenty of unmetered street parking out front and around the corner, too. I highly recommend this place, and I hope to be returning soon.

Everyone was really nice and friendly. The plantains were fried well and delicious. The corn soup was new to me and had great flavor. The only thing that threw me off was the corn was still on the cob, making it hard to eat. The rotis were fire. The lamb and chicken both were seasoned so well and tender. My sister and I took a half of each and found ourselves looking for the meat, so I think we could have used a bit more meat. It seemed like we had more roti than filling. Otherwise, everything was awesome and we will be going back.

Okay so I will have to say I will go again the food was spot . I had the lamb roti with the roti wrap and then I had the other one chicken, deconstructed roti . I cannot remember the name but it had the roti wrap on the side . It was so good and flavorful and buttery . Everything was delicious . The price are little on the high side but 10/10 for flavor , always call them before going . I will go back to try everything else in the menu

A last minute google search and found this spot to our delight. Marvin and his wife were so friendly and hospitable. The food was amazing! We had doubles, currants roll and a chicken dhalpuri and i even left with some shadon benny! The dhalpuri was so soft and light and the food was full of so much authentic flavor. This made the drive from Michigan to chicago worth it. The location was easy to find with parking readily available on the street. The restaurant was clean with seating for having a quick bite in house. The service really was really above and beyond, in house and for pickup orders as we could see Marvin taking pickup orders outside to his customers. A definite gem we'll visit again!

They never miss with the quality and portion of the food here. They were temporarily closed for a minute and I was so happy to see that they were back. The food is so comforting and well seasoned. I'm not sure if the curry chicken roti has been discontinued but I order the stew chicken this time and it was just as good. I only wish there was a boneless option so I could enjoy it without biting into a bone every now and then. Would highly recommend!

Hands down the best Trinidadian food in Illinois maybe even the country. Dawn cooks with her soul and the service is A+. Makes me feel like I am back home.

OMG by far one of the best Roti I have had in years..... The curry beef was amazing.... The owners are very welcoming and friendly. My husband and I are visiting from Kansas City and we would definitely recommend this place. We will be back before we go back home.

I thank the heavens above for a truly authentic Trinidadian eatery in Chicago! Pretty much the only Trinidadian spot around (besides Cafe Trinidad within the same hub) I believe. Although this was my first time trying Trinidadian cuisine, the authenticity really speaks for itself, in terms of food quality and hospitality. Dawn and her husband, the owner, were super sweet which I appreciated. I could tell they poured 150% of their heart and soul into everything I ordered. Now that's what I call top-notch hospitality!! The one doubles (with my choice of tamarind and "shado beni" sauces) I had was absolutely AMAZING!! No wonder everybody raves about these! I am profoundly grateful I can now vouch for these Trinidadian treasures myself. The lamb dhalpuri roti was like a flavor explosion in my mouth! I really savored the curry flavors in the filling, primarily consisting of boneless lamb chunks and potatoes. The slivered cucumbers and pepper sauces I opted to add garnished my roti perfectly. I had no idea the roti would resemble the size and weight of merely a small anvil, but in no way can I complain, as it was exceptionally filling and satisfying! The callaloo I ordered as a side was rich and garlicky which I enjoyed. I could taste both love and comfort baked into their macaroni pie, my other side. Overall, a vastly stellar experience and would HIGHLY recommend!!!

Get the pineapple chutney you'll love it I had the bake and salt fish very good I got the curried Chana and potatoes I was full I almost got fired for sleeping at work

Had the Dhalpuri Lamb Roti -- absolutely amazing! As an Indian-American, I always enjoy eating foods that have some trace of Indian origin that have been improved by the diaspora (and by non-Indians). This stuff was sooooo good. I savored every blazing hot spicy bite. I'm no Trinidadian obviously but this place only increases my desire to get down there some day. Tip/Note: this place is mainly for takeout, though they do have a waiting area with bar stools and a counter where you can eat, which is what I did, because I wasn't in the mood to wait to find out how good it was.

This is a great place! We used to go to Cafe Trinidad, but then they turned into a to go place and went up north and their quality went down. We usually get the chicken curry roti and lamb curry roti. The pepper sauce is great (but respect it!) An awesome local spot that we love going to every time! Thanks!!!

Absolutely love that we can get Trini food in Chicago. If you've never had it, it's flavor explosion and very unique! What we ordered: -Doubles - must get ! Fried dough topped with chickpeas, they added a spicy chutney which was my fav. This dish is so tasty and delicious. Only complaint here is that by taking the food to go , it can get a bit soggy. - Curry Chicken Paratha- so tasty! Flavorful curry with chicken chickpeas and potato , loved this curry and would definitely get it again -Chicken Pelau w/ slaw- liked this dish , didn't love it. The pigeon peas in seasoned rice one of the reasons we got it. The flavor seemed to be slightly lacking and the chicken in this dish wasn't as good as the curry but again unique flavors! The slaw was a bit too sweet for me. -Side of Macaroni Pie- what's not to love, it's baked Mac and cheese. So good and decadent All the side sauces are great, if you like spice/heat , highly recommend getting extra red chutney! We placed our order online and picked up at their location in South Loop Food Company. South loop has tons of breweries that allow you to bring your own food (BYOF) so we took it to a near by brewery and ate there. Will definitely order again!

Absolutely the best Trinidadian food in Chicago! If you are a transplant from the East Coast this is The official Trini spot! I was spoiled eating at Trin city in Queens. I knew it would be difficult to find a place that came close! Well I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong! Food here is simply ridiculous melt in your mouth roti the curry season to perfection absolutely over the moon that I found D's!

The food and service was excellent. Being a Trini girl, I wanted a taste of authentic Trini dishes. I had the chicken and Chana roti and doubles and they were very authentic. Delish. Oh and they have homemade Mauby, from the bark not concentrate. It was delish.

Take a bite into the doubles and you feel like you're in the streets of Trinidad after fettin all night!The doubles is flavorful with a soft dough and delicious chick peas.I got pumpkin talkari that was the best I've even tasted.It truly complemented the meal.I highly recommend and will surely be a repeat customer.

D's Roti & Trini Cuisine is a GODSEND!! I've lived in Chicago for a long time now and this is the first time I've been able to find LEGIT roti and curry like my grandma used to make! It literally tasted like home. If you're from the West Indies/Caribbean, you know what I mean! If you're not from either of those places, check out this spot and find out! . You will NOT be disappointed!

Holy moly!!!!! We ate the food soooo fast that I forgot to take a picture of everything. The service was amazing...the people who own this place are extremely nice and welcoming. Everything we ate had so much flavor and tasted soooo good... The doubles were better than what we had in the islands lol The fry bake and salt fish and sooo tastey The curry chicken and beef parathas were soooo amazing Seriously, hands down this is phenomenal food. Next time I'm ordering a dinner or lunch and some sides. The price is really great for the amount of food you are getting. Please do yourself a favor and go eat here lol

I cannot say enough about this place. The food is amazing, customer service is stellar and the product provided is way above par. I waited for a Trinidadian restaurant that was authentic in every way and Dawn delivered. Every dish, every bite, every seasoning, and all the love poured into the dishes are what we were waiting for. Apart from the one off, Dawn and her husband catered my birthday party, it was a HIT, my American friends loved every morsel and asked for more at the end of the night. I cannot pinpoint one thing BUT that corn soup was the ticket. I appreciate you and without hesitation will continue to recommend everything you do. Thanks again D

If you've never tried Trini food, you're in for a flavorful treat. If you have, you won't be disappointed in any of D's traditional favorites. I ordered online for two people - a Sunday lunch, a goat Roti, doubles, and plantains. I specified pick up in 45 minutes and the food was ready exactly on time. They graciously added an order of macaroni pie when I got there. EVERYTHING was fresh, well-seasoned, and hot. The Sunday lunch was enough for two meals, as was the goat Roti. Since I was the one who got the Sunday lunch, I'm going back this week (even though it's a bit of a drive) for a Roti, and it won't be long before I sample D's corn soup! Just delicious food and an efficient operation.

D's has the best roti in town! Whether you're looking for authentic Caribbean food or to try something new, everything on D's menu is delicious. Portions are huge. Reasonably priced for the quality and amount of food. I recommend following them on Instagram or checking their website to stay up to date on their location and pre-order services.

Food tastes like it was made in someone's kitchen back in Trinidad. Curry goat was very flavorful. I highly recommend this place.

Once again delicious TnT food. Reminds me of home. Very accommodating, very personable. We had chicken Roti, Pelau and stew chicken bowl, macaroni pie and the Sunday special. All very tasty. You won't be sorry if you try them.

The food here is AMAZING! I am so glad to know there is a restaurant I can go to in the city when I am craving good trini food. Customer service is awesome too! I highly recommend them.
