A Dallas Rabbi’s Popular Sourdough Pop-Up Is Raising Funds to Assist Teens With Special Needs | Eater Dallas

"A cottage pop-up bakery run by a Dallas rabbi and his wife that focuses on naturally leavened breads — from olive-studded loaves and rye sourdough to focaccia and sourdough chocolate chip cookies — sold exclusively via weekly preorders and pickup rather than a storefront. The operation emphasizes a social mission: expanding to provide employment opportunities for teenagers with special needs and currently partnering with an inclusion-focused nonprofit so participants gain hands-on experience packaging and fulfilling orders. Menus rotate weekly, and recent offerings included a towering kosher pastrami sandwich collaboration with local partners (served with pickles and coleslaw), priced at $22 with proceeds benefiting disability-support organizations; orders are handled through the partner nonprofit's deli page." - Rachel Pinn

Google
I was thrilled to discover D's bread! I am gluten intolerant and love bread, but most gluten free bread is not good. I was thrilled to discover D's! Due to the process used in baking this bread, it's safe for me to eat and absolutely delicious. D's is amazing and I highly recommend it! Customer service is great too!

Best of the best of the best. I've shared the English muffins with friends and their reaction was "This has healed something inside me" and it's 100% true!

Love the small business vibe with the option to text. I placed a big order and just cracked open the sourdough sandwich loaf and wow, best sourdough we have ordered. D has a forever customer. Breakfast for dinner 😋

I spent a few weeks in Dallas and I tried the sourdough from 4 different bakeries. Hands down D’s was the best. One of the best loaves I’ve had in my life, super sour. Also the sourdough English muffins were incredible. Best I’ve ever had.

I’ve been on a HUNT to find homemade sourdough goods with minimal ingredients, and I am HOOKED on D’s sourdough!! I picked up a few bags of sourdough English muffins (which you can’t even find in a grocery store), and I was blown away by the taste, size, quality, everything! They’re so thick and puffy - I toasted mine with a little ghee + cinnamon + honey, and it was the most heavenly little treat! I also picked up a loaf of sourdough sandwich bread, which was equally delicious - I’ll now be a forever customer!

I am very into anything cranberry, and I saw that they had a cranberry walnut sourdough, so I reached out and let them know that I could not have nuts. They were so nice and told me that I could do just a cranberry sourdough or I can add some thing to it like orange. I picked up my order today and it’s probably the best sourdough I have ever had, there was so much taste, flavor, I am so excited about this company in the fall it’s going to be great.

Yelp
The ONLY bread that doesn't effect my gut poorly. She doesn't put any added crap in her sourdough and it's delicious. We use it now for everything at home.

Yelp
D's Sourdough is the first old-fashioned baker that I've found in Dallas. All her breads are organic (non-gmo), and she makes sourdough bread via a 4-step fermentation process. Basically I had been looking for this healthier kind of bread for a while, but I'd never been able to find it because the one week baking process is barely commercially viable. This bread is great for me because I'm sensitive to gluten and glyphosates (look it up, it's a real problem) and I feel fatigued and get digestive issues from most bread. This bread, however, is different. The fermentation partially digests the wheat so it's much easier on the stomach. I met the owner a couple months ago during her 2nd week at the Market. Her name is Debbie, and she's a gem. She's at the Farmer's Market on Saturdays only and she usually sells out of most items so get there by noon or send her a note on FB (www.facebook.com/DsSourdough) if you want her to hold something for you. She also just started making scones and bread bowls. Bread loaves are around $7 each, which is very reasonable for the quality and size.

Yelp
Two things that make this vendor special: 1) Ingredients 2) Genuine person (Debbie) who wants to make your whole experiment a pleasant and satisfactory. From a personal perspective I don't go just to buy fresh and unique items, I go expecting quality and customer service. When I have found my 2-5 vendors out of the 30+ and growing I'm stubborn and don't like to expand unless I'm blown away. The 25 others at one point I tried I walk past and don't make eye contact - I've made my mind and my loyalty is earned and why I justify my trip to the Dallas Farmers Market. Debbie is unique as she knows my name including my pets names and she goes out of her way to make the experience personal. If there is something I'd like or a special request, I ask and she makes it without expectation for me to buy (I always do) but she makes sure to make it just right. I once teased how good a cinnamon role scone would taste and the next week she made a small batch and they were there and they were amazing with no expectation. Her breads are as fresh as a few hours before and they easily last a week with no artificial ingredients. Her sour dough is nothing I've ever been able to recreate and nothing Central Market, Whole Foods, name the place can make. It's so fresh the crust is literally still moist and it holds easily for a week [rare it's not consumed already] without preservatives - I can't find this at a store. Also, I don't think I've ever tasted a better scone in my life. Her prices are insanely reasonable and it's clear she's doing what she does because she loves what she does. Now that the inside market is open, you can still buy her items from Market Provisions (non-profit) and you may find her there during the week but I make it personal to see her during the weekends.

Yelp
I would agree with the other review from Daniel. The bread is as dank as it gets (and I used to work at Whole Foods), and Debbie is a very nice lady. She is also very knowledgeable about baking... more than any baker at Whole Foods... Keep on D's! (I'm eating some of their bread from the Dallas Farmer's Market now...)

Yelp
This is real, authentic bread - the one & only in the Dallas area. Debbie uses limited, organic ingredients (4 I think), and she uses long fermentation for her sourdough. My husband is German (VERY picky bread people), and he's even happy with D's breads. I lived in Asia for many years and am used to shopping at local outdoor markets where you can cultivate relationships with the people that make your food. We have been eating D's Sourdough for several months - including the plain sourdough, rye, and English muffins...everything is delicious!

Yelp
Outstanding baker. The English muffins are amazing and the bread is also very good. Looking forward to getting more this coming weekend.

Yelp
this is the best quality bread I have found in Dallas. I have been gluten free for maybe 3 years. I do not have a serious reaction to gluten but my body doesn't feel as well if I have it. I tried this bread which was the first gluten I had in years and I felt completely fine and it tastes great :) from what I have heard the long fermentation breaks down the gluten and makes it easier for your body to digest. A little while after starting to eat this bread I was served a gluten containing bun at a restaurant by mistake and didn't realize until half way through. that bread caused me to break out. I had red whelps on my face and felt warm. D's has never done that. that difference made it obvious to me that D's sourdough was a better quality of bread for me. Its really nice to have real bread in my diet after not having it for years. And sometimes she makes long fermented cinnamon rolls....:) so goooood
