Nudibranch Wants to Be Seattle’s First Thai Coffee Shop | Eater Seattle

"Founded by a Seattle native and her partner after trips to northern Thailand, this Thai-inspired coffee business plans to roast and sell Thai-grown beans in the U.S. and open a North Seattle café with a permanent location slated for October 2025. Operating on a direct-purchase model, it sources shade-grown, organic beans from a seven-person Chiang Rai team and partners with a Seattle roaster for profiles like the initial Single Origin Chiang Rai, noted for apricot and plum with a clean finish. The concept blends Thai traditions with Pacific Northwest sensibilities: expect chilled fruit-and-coffee blends such as orange juice with espresso, butterfly pea matcha, Milo-style mochas, and oliang, plus sourdough from local Thai bakers, latte-art classes, rotating local art, and guest-chef collaborations. The founders are crowdfunding the first café space via Kickstarter and plan to distribute beans online and in local grocery stores." - Paolo Bicchieri

Just happened to be in the neighborhood and navigated to the nearest coffee shop. This was such a pleasant, unexpected, cute find! Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, ample seating, and more!

Google
I've had both the chai latte and a vanilla latte here and both were amazing!! A bit on the expensive side but yummy. Barista was really nice and friendly. She was running both the cashier and coffee bar though, I felt kind of bad. Felt like it would be helpful to have another staff person there. Besides that, good drinks and plenty of seating inside.

Google
Dubsea is a spacious, community-oriented coffee shop. there are lots of seasonal specials to try and I loved the ginger snap latte. For food, there are pastries and sandwiches available. The staff is very welcoming and this cafe feels like a place where everyone can go to socialize, work, or relax. It is filled with eclectic decor and is very family-friendly, as there are books, coloring pages, and other educational toys to keep kids occupied.

Google
I had the spicy mocha and it was fantastic! For some reason the two people working there were not especially welcoming. No eye contact, no smiles, totally looked the opposite direction when we said thank you, and then just wandered off.

Google
Wow wow wow! I come here before work way too often, it’s honestly draining my funds. The staff is kind, they all make an effort to learn about their customers, and I can’t help but love them. They even gave me dentist recommendations for my root canal! I love to buy plants from this shop as well, and I love the art exhibits displayed.

Google
We were really liking the cold brew at this place as it was smooth and only needed a splash of half and half. We drive 10 mins one way to pick it up. The other day, the cold brew was undrinkable even after adding water, half and half, creamer, etc.. I let the staff know and they said they weren't sure what the issue was, that maybe it had sat for too long or something. We may give it another chance, as we are hoping this was a fluke but we'll see.

Google
Good atmosphere, great drinks, very friendly staff. Prices are a tad high but I guess that has more to do with the region than this specific shop. Fast wifi and places to power up. Kid friendly as well. Would definitely recommend.

Google
Delicious coffee, such kind staff, and a great play space for kids that my 2 year old loved! I wish we learned of this place sooner! Highly recommend.

Yelp
We were staying with a friend just around the corner and he recommended that we try out Dubsea Coffee as it's within walking distance. He wasn't kidding - it was just a short jaunt through a diverse and adorable community. Past a corner kids park (with some very cool looking toys!), through an outdoor community venue, past the Boys and Girls Club and down the street, we found ourselves at Dubsea. Inside was a warm and welcoming community coffee shop. Plenty of places to work remotely, meet with friends, or just quickly grab a cup o' joe. I chose the London Fog and my partner the Chai Latte. We took them to go and enjoyed the beautiful spring day in White Center.

Yelp
Everyone here was SO incredibly nice. Service was fast, and the drink & cookie were both so delicious! Came here for the West Seattle Silent Book Club and they took such great care of us. Would totally recommend!

Yelp
My favorite W Seattle coffee shop. The cardamom lattes are exquisite, and the shop itself is funky and cool and a generally perfect neighborhood hangout.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops in the White Center area! One of my favorite things is the sense of community when you walk in. There are plants to decorate, the walls are covered with different flyers and announcements abouts what's going on around the city, and even items people are selling like hand crafted earrings, plants, and other trinkets. There are also a lot of tables inside and it so it is pretty normal to find groups meeting, individuals working, and kids in the children's area. There are times I have gone when it is a good work environment but there are other times they have live performers. It can get pretty loud and busy on those days so I would check their Instagram for their schedule before you head there. The workers have always been very friendly and as one who still masks, I appreciate that all the workers do too. Another plus is the amount of parking available around the area! I love their cardamom latte a lot as well as their food selection--breakfast sandwiches, wraps and pastries. Today I got an iced lavender matcha latte with oat milk and I know I will be back for this!

Yelp
Great place to snag some WiFi, decent coffee, and camp out for a bit! Very friendly baristas, too :)

Yelp
This is my favorite coffee shop! It is super colorful and artful and the staff are very kind and when you go, give them the big tip cause they are the best!

Yelp
I actually am shocked I have never reviewed Dubsea! My sincere apologies, to Dubsea and to you all that are now coming to Dubsea because of said review! Said.. not sad I think you get the best picture of Dubsea love by imagining a summer night open mic in the green ridge plaza which is the circular space between dubsea and the boys and girls club. Imagine music playing, families and friends all posted up watching the performance, catching up with community, drinking deep of LIFE! That is what happens day in and day out at Dubsea Coffee Co... not the open mic, that's like once a year, but the life and community- that happens daily. And it is over an incredibly good cup of coffee, latte, espresso, iced coffee! Whether you come for the coffee, linger a little longer for the people. You won't be disappointed and you'll definitely leave with your cup filled in more ways than one!

Yelp
Met my daughter and her partner here for coffee and breakfast. Great vibe, plenty of parking and the coffee was smooth and delish. Nice staff, great for families, friends.

Yelp
This place just feels good! Easy friendly staff. Lots of windows make it a great place to sit on a nice day. Different seating arrangements including outside; I really love having so much choice. Snickerdoodle was really good and so was the macha. Sometimes they have music which I've loved! Great neighborhood cafe!

Oscar C.

Yelp
I got the ebony white mocha. It is a blend of dark and white chocolate with a coffee after taste. I recommend it for those wanting a sweeter drink but if you just want white chocolate you can go with just the white mocha!
google avatar

Jeffrey M.

Yelp
Food and coffee are a step up from Starbucks but not premium. Has a neighborhood vibe but the decor is not that comfy. It's needed in the location and glad it's here!
google avatar

Angela S.

Yelp
Came to a book signing here, and came back the next week for another coffee. Great space, friendly people and local! The smiles are always plentiful! They also feature local artists and authors!Don't sleep on Dubsea Coffee!

Bea M.

Yelp
Sold as a CHOCOLATE croissant, but no chocolate! At the time of purchase, I said I didn't think there was chocolate, but the counter person annoyedly insisted there was. When I phoned to inform the counter person of her error, she hung up on me instead of making things right. Also, tasteless breakfast "veggie" burrito with scant amount of mushrooms and onions only, barely room temperature. I won't be returning.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute spot with street parking. Ordered a pumpkin muffin (warmed up of course) and a decaf vanilla latte. Pretty good overall.
google avatar

Urba M.

Yelp
Tried the cardamom latte (with a condensed milk and cardamom cream) and the mocha. Both really good drinks. They've got a bright and open interior with a number of beautiful plants and art around. They have a good amount of seating and quite a few board games as well. Will be back to try more drinks and eats!
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped at this place on our way back to Seattle. The cardamom latte did not disappoint! It was delicious and the barista was super kind.
google avatar

Thelma M.

Yelp
The service was quick and friendly I black and white mocha was made just right with a side of . E-gift cards are available and lunch items such as sandwiches hard boiled eggs pastries cookies and juicebox. Plenty of street parking located in the green bridge community on 8th avenue Southwest in White center. You can place online orders and bags of coffee for sale along with coffee cups and art, this coffee shop does not allow dine in at this time, with limited seating outside. Once opened up in full I encourage you to enjoy on a nice sunny day or when raining snuggled inside this cozy coffee spot. Currently open only take out!!

Yelp
Delicious coffee in a cute store with friendly employees! I tried the cardamom latte as I saw it was their house special. I didn't know what to expect but was delighted with a warm, softly spiced latte that was so yummy! I usually don't stray away from mochas and very rarely do I get a hot coffee, but I'm so glad I did! Definitely come by and give it a try!!
google avatar

Jenny C.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop with a good cardamom latte. The latte had a nice thick layer of foam with minimal air bubbles and good cardamom flavor. You won't find yourself wondering where the flavor is. The pastry case is situated too low for admiring the goodies but bend down for a peek. I saw some nice thick cookies among the options. Kid friendly place with a play area. The bathroom had a little step stool for kids to wash their hands too. If I'm in the area again, I would definitely stop by for another latte.

Yelp
Dubsea Coffee is a great local coffee shop near White Center. It's locally owned and sell a variety of warm pastries each morning and coffee throughout the day. If you like a more unique latte, order the cardamon latte. With a little cinnamon on top from the condiment bar, it's perfect! The coffee shop has plenty of seats, outlets, and free wifi. The back of the shop has a kid play area full of toys. It's a perfect place for all!

Yelp
We decided to stop in for a quick morning coffee at Dubsea Coffee before starting our day. It has a very neighbourhood, community oriented vibe to it and is located directly across the street from Greenbridge Cafe. We dropped in on a Saturday morning (around 11:00am). The place was reasonably busy; seems like a lot of older locals frequent here. They have a few board games (chess, scrabble, pictionary) along with Counter Culture coffee beans and some really expensive merchandise for sale. The drink menu is split into espresso, coffee, other drinks and tea. They even do catered coffee (from 8 to 50 cups). Food is simple; pastries (muffins, scones, cookies), croissants, bagels, sandwiches and wraps. - Latte ($4.00 US for 12oz) - B found it quite milky but she wanted more coffee flavour. I had a couple sips but found it pretty unmemorable. - Everything bagel ($1.25 US) - they charge for a packet of cream cheese ($0.75 US). Laaaame but at least they warmed up and grilled the bagel nicely. Looked like it was put on a panini press. Hit the spot for me as a light breakfast snack. The coffee won't blow you away but it seems people come for the space and environment.

Yelp
Support local is always somethingI live by. This cafe in the neighborhood of white center has tons of potential. Good drinks, reasonable priced menu, ample area to lounge and kids friendly. I've visited multiple times and each time i would always get my green tea latte. Quite good but depends on who's making it. Today i had the cold brew and it's good too. One thing they are very consistent on is how loud their music is. I feel like i'm at a concert at times with how loud ir is. Thank goodness for noise cancelling headphones. Another thing to be cautious off is the long seat by the kids area as it is not mounted to the wall so if the other person on the other side of the seat gets up, be prepared. Lastly, only 2 hour parking so you are limited.

Yelp
Adorable, light-filled coffee shop with the most delicious, cardamom lattés. I had one with oat milk. It was strong, rich, creamy, and had a generous pinch of sweet cardamom that made it warming and gave it an exotic touch. The environment is welcoming, friendly, casual and clean. The baristas are polite and diligent. It's a lovely "home away from home" kind of place to bring some work or meet friends. In short: --well-crafted drinks --hearty snacks --lots of light --free wifi

Yelp
Love Dubsea! It's a special local coffee shop, very queer friendly and great coffee! I love doing work here! And it feels good to support a local business.

Yelp
Modern/hipster decor and yummy pastries :) I'd recommend everything we got (which was all recommended by the barista). Make sure to get the pastries heated! Coffee Dill scone Squash bread Ham & cheese croissant

Yelp
My friends and I just landed from airport and were looking for a quick place for breakfast/coffee. We chose here since it was between the airport and our airbnb. We put in the wrong address though and ended up in a construction site (8th ave S vs 8th ave SW). When we did get here, the coffee shop is in a cute and quaint area. We got a mocha, cardamom latte, and matcha latte for drinks. We got the spinach and cheese brioche and a nutella brioche. They were really patient and helpful with what was good. We loved it! If youre a fan of chai/cinnamon, I would recommend the cardamom latte. The matcha latte was also made really well; the matcha wasn't too over powering at all. The pastries were really light and were a nice snack to get the morning going. We are so glad that we started our trip here. It seems like it would be a nice place to do work. It is roomy and pretty quiet. They also had stickers and kid games!!
google avatar

Yelp
Cute coffee place with plenty of parking nearby. During the weekdays during certain hours, there is a limit on parking to 2 hours right out front but there are other places to park nearby. They have tables for you to get work done with a few outlets. The coffee and pastries are yummy! I got the cardamom latte which wasn't too sweet and the almond croissant was full of butter and flaky. They also have some games for you to play and seat cushions for you to use. There is also a kid play area so it can get a bit loud at times with kids screaming but overall, a great local coffee shop. Tip: get a stamp card and buy 10, get 1 free!
google avatar

Yelp
Been going there as a kid and remember there chocolate chip cookies which I bought recently and really loved the ways it tasted.

Barb D.

Yelp
I just popped in on a very hot day while I was out walking w my dog. So surprised and disappointed by unfriendly, rushed staff. One girl was so shy (I guess) she wouldn't engage w customers or look up when I asked a question. Super disappointed.

Yelp
I'm surprised that I haven't wrote a review yet. But I'm glad I finally decided to try this place. I live around the area and always drive past it but never had a chance to go. I came here to work remotely around 645 AM and it wasn't busy at all. But once it hit 7, there was a line. The crowd comes in waves every hour. But they're quick! I usually get the hazelnut latte either hot or cold depending on how I feel in the morning. And I always get a almond croissant (I should try other things but I love those two together). The staff is great, kind and knows the community. There's a little kids area so bring your little ones for a coffee play date. It can get chilly inside depending on where you sit. The coldest seat may be the seat west on the shop. Can't wait to go back! I've been waiting for the smoke and air quality to get better because I walk here.
google avatar

Carly R.

Yelp
I didn't think that a very casual place would have good coffee spot too! A nice place to work, chat with friends and just chill! Big enough that you won't feel like people could see what you working on and really nice environment to relax. Also they have some board games to play so it's even better! I forgot the name of that special latte but sur eyou can look at others' reviews to find out that latte. Which is the one I had! Great flavor no lie hands down maybe the best in Seattle. But I can tell some people might not like it if they don't really like cinnamon kind of spices. Do give it a try even a regular latte is good! Give it a try! Recommended and sure will be back with my laptop soon!
google avatar

Jess T.

Yelp
From out of town but if I were local, I'd be here a lot! The high ceilings are so welcome, and the service was just the friendliest. The coffee was good, they have decaf. Plenty of bonus points for having a playspace for kids in the cafe! It's nice to know some cafe owners care.

Jane C.

Yelp
Looks like the original owner sold the shop and ever since the drink quality has gone down and the prices have gone up. I personally don't mind having to pay more if it keeps the place in business but it does not help when the drinks are made incorrectly. It also looks like the previous baristas that have been working here quit and now there is a new set of inexperienced and rude staff. It's unfortunate since I've loved this place since moving to White Center.
google avatar

Daren D.

Yelp
First of all, this is located in an awesome neighborhood! As I parked, taking in this area was a delight for this part of town. It's a weekend morning, sunny, pleasant and peaceful... It's a nice space and the window hexagon stools are super neat! My SF vanilla grande WM latte was great. The caprese sandwich the friendly lady recommended was pretty tasty; although, not my preference. I prefer the nice thick-sliced style caprese other places have (i.e., I think Moore Coffee Shop). I was feeling for a bit of fresh air so I migrated from the window to the outside tables in the morning shade. It's also next to an open plaza near a community center.

Yelp
Dubsea is a great coffee shop in the west Seattle area. There is a decent amount of street parking nearby. Ample amount of seating. They have counter seating with a window view. Plenty of tables. Free wifi. Good drink and pastry selection. Friendly service.

Yelp
Cardomon Latte? Hemp milk? Say it ain't so! Dubsea Coffee is definitely a nice community cafe with friendly baristas and a relaxed vibe. It has an almost hippy atmosphere, but with decor that is simple and somewhat modern at the same time. The high, elevated ceilings made the place look a lot bigger from the inside. It's also very welcoming to families, as seen with the small kid's play area in the back with some gently used, but loved children's books. Tip of the day: Bring CASH if you can! They accept credit cards, but if you pay with cash, you get a 5% discount on your beverage purchase. For $3.95 (not including tax), you can order an 8 oz cardomon latte. Like Goldie Locks to her bed, this cup size was just the right amount of cardomon coffee for me. I passed on the hemp milk this time, but may try it on my next visit. The cardomon was sweet, with a pungent, almost earthy and floral profile. It also had a subtle spice flavor with a faintly bitter aftertaste. I really enjoyed it because my favorite drinks usually have spice in it. However, the cardomon latte might not be for everyone since cardomon is an acquired taste. They do have a raspberry mocha that looks quite delicious (from pictures on Yelp). Rasberry Mocha - You're next on my list!

Yelp
4/5 stars only because the online ordering seems useless. I've been going to this local neighborhood coffee shops a few times the last month or so. The coffee is always amazing and the food is good. Services has always been great. I love supporting local shops so when I discovered they take online orders, I was thrilled. I've placed a handful of online orders in the past without any issues. Walk up, tell them I'm an online order and provide my name. However, today there was a bit of a line at the register so I figured since I placed the order ahead of time, I could go to the pickup area and get my order. The women seemed a little put off that I was standing there but proceeds to ask how she can help. I told her I had an online order. She then told me that next time, I need to wait in line to pick up my order. I suppose it was weird considering I've never had to do that for my past online orders. If that's the case, where there's a long line at the register and you placed an online order, you'll still have to wait in line. My thoughts, what's the point of placing an online order if you still have to wait in line?
google avatar

Kat D.

Yelp
Super modern, cute place. And in White Center no less! I usually come to White Center for the roasted corn stand and some bomb ass tacos. Not this time. Had their cardamom latte, which was seasonal and so good. And the barista (Aaron) was friendly and fabulous. If I'm back in White Center, I'd totally stop in for a coffee.
google avatar

Kaire X.

Yelp
Asked for a surprised drink, it was good! The breakfast sandwich however was very bland. Wished it came with some honey and bacon would've made it 10x yummier.
google avatar

Nick C.

Yelp
I've been coming here pretty regularly since moving here a few months ago. The staff are always super friendly, food's delicious, and the espresso is pretty amazing. It's an adorable little neighborhood cafe!
google avatar

Barbara S.

Yelp
I use Dubsea regularly as a place to meet that is central to both my Seattle and Tacoma peeps! The service is always great, the staff is friendly and the place is always clean. Plenty of parking makes this place even more attractive. And the coffee? Well, it's delicious and just the way you order it. If you're in the neighborhood, do stop by!
google avatar

Kayo P.

Yelp
Always good coffee, pastry and hospitality. They have vegan pastry so my son with egg allergy can have some goodies too:) And kids friendly! They have a little play area so we can keep my kid entertained while we have our coffee. The shop detail on this yelp says "free Wifi" but I don't see any password posted at the cafe. I wish they offer free wifi.
google avatar

Casey D.

Yelp
I know i'm supposed to talk about the Cardamom Latte, but that's not really my style. I usually get the aeropress coffee and that always hits the spot. Let's be honest, this is Seattle...it's not hard to find good coffee. What I like about this place is just about everything else. The physical space is great, comfortable, not over-saturated with too many seats crushed together. It's a great place to sit with your computer and do work, or have a quiet conversation with someone. The staff is super welcoming and the other coffee drinkers are respectful and nice to be around. Don't be shy about getting some of the pastries and baked goods, too...they are all tasty!

Cherish R.

Yelp
Great coffee, service and treats :) it's a nice clean establishment and cool vibe. We'll be back.

MC J.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite coffee shop in all of White Center, West Seattle & Burien area. They're always so friendly. Coffee is consistently good. I love that they have a play area for the little ones, too.
google avatar

Sylvia K.

Yelp
3.5 stars! I had heard stories about their famous cardamom latte! I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but I was intrigued and wanted to try it out. One day, I accidentally woke up too early and so I headed over to this White Center cafe. I ordered the cardamom latte and also an almond croissant (one of my fave pastries!). The barista that took my order was really friendly and asked if I wanted my croissant heated and if I wanted a stamp card! Yes and yes please! My cardamom latte was pretty good, it had a nice flavor to it - the cardamom wasn't overpowering at all. The almond croissant was good too (not the best I've ever had though). The interior is pretty spacious with plenty of tables and also bar style seating and they have free wi-fi, so it's actually a good spot to work at. At the back, there's a sort of kids area. They had other pastries available like scones and squash bread (this looked good too!) and bagels.
google avatar

Rebecca P.

Yelp
Got the chai. Was set back about $5 and change for a 16 ouncer. Yay for supporting a more indy coffee shop. Nay for all the other ways that money could have been spent, particularly since the flavor was a bit weak. Service was friendly though. Bottom line: Damn, coffee can be expensive, and when it's not perfect, it's not worth it.
google avatar

Molinda K.

Yelp
They brew stumpton coffee here which is one of my favorite! Friendly staff, great place for homework/work, and their coffee is prestigiously crafted.
google avatar

Brittany S.

Yelp
Staff is super friendly, coffee is amazing, and we love their sandwiches as well!! While waiting the shop is filled with beautiful art to browse or buy while they make your coffee. I love the selection of food because we like to pick up breakfast with our morning coffee, and they have everything from gluten free/vegan pastries to egg sandwiches and Cuban-style paninis. The turkey bacon croissant is one of our favorites, it comes with a delicious roasted garlic aioli. Ask for it heated!!
