Duke's Seafood West Seattle

We were pleasantly surprised by the absolutely delicious food here. Salmon bites-moist and flavorful with or without the sauces. Fish Tacos- tender, full of flavor, better than any I've ever tasted. Fish and chips-above all others, thin tasty breading and moist cod. And now we're ordering dessert! Friendly helpful staff and a great cozy atmosphere! We'll be back.

Sunset family dinner at Duke’s was delicious. I appreciate that they accommodated my anaphylactic shellfish allergy with separate area to cook my entree. The extra precautions they explained not to cross contaminate my food with new knife & cutting boards.

I have to start by saying we received excellent service, ordered the fish and chips, I will say it was on a higher price point than your average fish and chips the fish pieces were absolutely massive, very well breaded and nice crunch, flavor wise it's slightly plain but delicious. The coleslaw was not good. Other than that excellent service and amazing views.

Duke's is a nice spot along Alki Ave, overlooking the water. We sat outside on the second floor deck which was nice, since the weather was very nice. They have heaters outside also, if it's a little cool. The chowder sampler is a good way to kick off the meal. The fresh sourdough bread is also very tasty. I had the clam.chowder in the bread bowl, a nice choice. We also had the crab cake sandwich, which was tasty and satisfying. Give it a try.

Warning if you want a big piece of lobster or some juicy crab legs you're not going to get it here. They proudly do NOT serve "unsustainable" seafood, which is fine except when your husband is having a birthday and wants a big lobster tail. Nice location right on Alki Beach. Get a window seat and you can sit, relax and look out at the water. Food was tasty. Stuffed shrimp was good but less cream and pesto sauce would have been fine. Appetizer, Lobster Dip seemed to be heavy on the mayonnaise & rosemary taste. Sourdough bread was soft and warm. Pleasant staff, friendly greeting.

Chowder 8/10 - great with bread. Squid steak calamari with mustard and mayo dip 8.5/10 - really good, thick squid pieces. Scallop pasta also really good, but pumpkin filling of ravioli threw me off a bit 7.5/10, snap peas were good.

I love the inside of Duke's Seafood. Tables are spaced apart comfortably. Many have hooks for your coat/purse which felt very thoughtful to me. The decor is homey and coastal. We stopped in an hour before closing for a quick appetizer after a late night drive. We split the chicken tenders appetizer with fries and had one mule. Total with tip came to $39. Food was good and well-made but felt overpriced for what we got, which was four 3-inch long chicken fingers. We'd have to come back and try the seafood to really give the food here an accurate review. Service was a bit slow at 10pm on a Friday although there were not many people still there eating. We waited quite a while for our check and for the server to take our card so we ended up going to the host stand to pay. Staff were all very friendly and conversational though.

Continues to be a great staple for seafood and other dishes in and around seattle. We just ate at the Duke's On Alki the parmesan crusted halibut was excellent, perfectly prepared nice thick, fresh piece of halibut with a brown butter caper sauce. My wife ordered the stuffed prawns which we're also excellent and had a ton of flavor! Jeremiah, the manager, was great! He helped us with the venue as well as made some recommendations for us and took great care of us while we were there. Thanks to Jeremiah and his staff for being so good and making our night great!

I love Duke's. I go all the time. Never been to this location and won't again. Honestly, the halibut from Ivar's was 10x better and way cheaper. The cod and the halibut here are so salty and dry. I was super disappointed and didn't eat my $45 meal. Chowder? Yeah just go to Pike's Place Chowder...

Ambiance was nice in that it's right by the beach. Friendly staff. Our poor server also had to run the bar on this weeknight. Food was mediocre. Lobster chowder was too sweet. Slider salmon was too dry. Crab sandwich was just ok. Very pricy.

The food portions were an absolute robbery. Imagine paying $16 for a 6oz soup but only getting less than 3oz. A single filet of fish costing $24. On average, each dish, which comes with literally one item, was $20+. It's what you expect from a beachside seafood restaurant. Attempted hospitality, but utterly slow and inattentive service. Dated decor, a reminiscence of past glory. However, the food was actually good. Seafood was fresh and the fried dishes were handled with care. Crab cake was also fresh but it was too spicy. But because we can't get more than two bites per order, I wouldn't come back. There's plenty of great seafood in Seattle.

Usually when eating in a touristy area the restaurants kinda get conformist in the quality of their food and service, well ... this is not the case at Dukes ! We had great service by Andrea and awesome food !! Clam Chowder was in the top 5 or six I've ever eaten , my wife really enjoyed the fish and chips and the stuffed lobster and filet were mouth watering good ! Needles to say I definitely recommend you come and eat here , I'll definitely come back !!

Just saw an article from KING5 News that the Alki location of Duke's has closed permanently as of Thursday, April 3, 2025. Sad to see it go... Great restaurant for seafood that's next to Alki Beach. The upstairs outdoor deck seating is nice and has a pleasant view of Alki Beach. The inside seating has a combination of tables and booths. The food is good here, but the service can be spotty. I've tried all of their chowders and think the cioppino style north by northwest seafood chowder tastes the best; the chowder is full of a variety of seafood and the broth is very flavorful. The clam chowder is very creamy and on the herby side, the lobster monster pernod chowder is like a lobster bisque with a strong liqueur flavor, and the ragin' chicken corn chowder is very good if you like Creole seasoning and corn. Some of my favorite entrees are the stuffed wild salmon, the Frenchy wild salmon, and the stuffed halibut. The salmon and halibut are delicious and fresh and the sauces paired with the fish are tasty.

Excellent hard working clean cut staff. Lots of menu appetizers that are affordable. You could order calamari or mushroom stuffed lobster and a cup of award winning clam chowder to keep it light or inexpensive. Many options on food menu ranging from tacos and burgers to halibut. I like the lively conversations that abound here. A couple big screen televisions are at the bar and middle. Full bar, martinis bourbons, and whiskeys. I have been to Dukes as a Sergeant in the Army. Now retired i love good food and social places. This place has so many tasty options and you get complimentary small loaf of bread with butter. 11th time here. From Helena, Montana. Duke's doesn't disappoint.

Came in for a little lunch and drink after a walk on the beach. Was assisted and entertained by an amazing, friendly, and hilarious bartender, T-Mai! The clam chowder is delicious. I highly recommend the fish and chips. Came out very fresh, not too salty, over all very tasty! If you're ever in the boardwalk of alki, you need to come to the bar and try a drink from this wonderful bartender! She will definitely take care of you.

We had reservations for a party of 9 today--our table was ready when we arrive, but it wasn't busy but for a large party, you never know. Our waitress was great, courteous and efficient. I think the basis of the mid range review was actual taste is the food. There was nothing extraordinary about the food, it was just so-so. Rockfish soft tacos were okay, small chunks served inside the tortilla along with coleslaw. The chowder was okay-it was just marginal for $350 (and one class one wine and one espresso martini were included in this bill) it is nice that they serve a free birthday dessert to people celebrating their birthday.

It's been years since I've been to Duke's. We happened to be near Alki waiting for my car to be repaired, so Duke's it was. Perhaps that's the thing with chain/touristy restaurants: they fail to impress the locals. I know it's hard to make a customer happy, but here are my highly personal two cents: The fish and chips were decent, but the garnishing salad was drenched in dressing the same way the crab cake salad was. We ordered a large bread bowl chowder but it was 90% bread and 10% of what I think is almost cream-tasting, very salty chowder. The crab cake was a little overly sweet and lacking the crab flavor. The lemonade was delicious in the same way O Organics lemonade also is. But that's my own palate with not much memories associated with this place. The service was spot on in every technical aspect, and I couldn't ask for more.

Love this place..... the food is always soooo good. Being from Seattle, naturally I loooove seafood! This is definitely a good spot for cocktails and calamari ! Also try the chowder ! Lastly, the views are so beautiful. It's right on the puget sound and overlooks the Olympic Mts. Go during sunset !

Finally got to try this iconic Western WA waterfront chain! I knew that I had to get my bff on clam chowder during her visit to Seattle, so it was only fitting that the day that we decided to get chowder, it was cloudy and windy out. A MOOD! We drove over to this Alki location bc Alki is a must for any visitor. And because it wasn't so nice out, we were seated promptly. We tried: *wild Alaska salmon bites ($16.90): bite sized and flash fried with Duke's ready anytime seasoning, wasabi aioli, and chipotle aioli. Although everything was tasty, I couldn't find anything special to note. *triple dinghy of award winning clam chowder, north by northwest seafood chowder, and ragin' Cajun chicken corn chowder ($12.40): these were all really tasty, actually, and something I would be more than down to have again! *off the hook stuffed wild salmon ($39.90): stuffed with Dungeness crab, wild Argentinian red shrimp, imported cheeses, topped with a pretty pesto accent and lemon beurre Blanc. Honestly, this tasted like something you would eat for lunch/dinner in a 3-4 star hotel LOL, it was good but not mind-blowingly amazing. I'd be down to come back for the soups alone; otherwise, I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here again.

We came for lunch, and dukes met all expectations, however I think their AC fan blades were broken or something, because while we were eating outside there was an extremely annoying noise coming from the roof which was driving me crazy. 5 stars otherwise, when they fix the AC or whatever was causing the noise I'll change my rating.

We were visiting Seattle to see our family, and Dukes was on my list of places to eat. I heard the name in a movie and had to visit. First the location across from the water which made the views during lunch beautiful. My mom and I split our meals, we had the black n bleu salmon salad (no blueberries) and a combo wombs with the fish and chips. My cousin had the crab cake sandwich. The food overall was good but the fish was Panko crust instead of beer battered. The clam chowder was delicious and so was the salad. The service was good especially since they seemed to be short staffed. We didn't wait on anything. And I got another chowder and salad (added onions) on Sunday. Only negative - they are expensive.

We have been to the Duke's on Ruston Way many times and a few times to other locations but we have never been to the Alki location. I can't comment much on the exterior because it was a cold dark and rainy night. We parked on the street nearby but it looked like parking could be an issue. The restaurant downstairs has an Irish pub vibe, dark wood, booths and it is very small with moderately loud music. It looks like there was a much bigger room with an outdoor deck upstairs. It was comfortable but we prefer the Ruston Way branch appearance. We ordered an excellent bottle of Vigonier that we have had many times before and because it was Monday, wine by the bottle was half price (all Duke's locations). We started with 2 bowls of superb clam chowder courtesy or the reopening after the pipes burst. We ordered the 19.95 large spinach salad and they split it in the kitchen for 2. Both bowls were almost big enough to split again. By the time we were finished the soup, salad and excellent hot sourdough bread, we were well on our way to being full. My wife had the seafood mixed grill and it was delicious. I had the seared salmon with red potatoes and sautéed zucchini, onions and red pepper. Everything was cooked perfectly and the glaze on the salmon was the best I have ever had. Alex gave us great service. We topped it off with a $20 discount because we are frequent diners and paid with gift cards bought just before Christmas with a 20% bonus, the best of any of the local chain seafood restaurants. Duke's always looks expensive but if you take advantage of all their promotions, it is downright affordable. Be sure to tip based on the real total. Your server did not issue the coupons and deals.

Came here for dinner on a Friday evening. If you're hoping to sit on the rooftop, which I'd highly recommend, you'll probably need a reservation unless you're willing to wait a while. Your experience here really comes down to what you're looking for. If you want a spot to have some drinks and maybe a small bite while enjoying the beautiful West Seattle scenery, this is a stellar spot. However as a pure seafood experience, I didn't find it to be anything particularly special. I had the Crab Cake Combo and thought the sandwich was solid. The combination of flavors was different than what I'd usually have with crab cakes, but the strong bacon and sauce flavors felt like they were compensating for a relatively unflavorful crab cake. I had the lobster cheddar chowder as my side. I thought it was tasty. It is quite cheddar forward which I enjoyed, but I wouldn't recommend it for those looking for a more traditional chowder experience. Overall I wouldn't say it was a bad meal, but taking their price level into consideration I feel like you can find much better seafood alternatives all over Seattle.

Stopped by Alki Beach for the day, and my family and I were looking for a lunch spot. Based on Yelp reviews and the internet, we chose Duke's seafood. The interior is on the smaller size, and I could see this place filling up quickly during dinner time and the weekends. We were seated quickly, and we lucked out getting a table by the window. It was a good spot to people watch. The waiter was very enthusiastic and eager to assist us with recommendations and getting us started with drinks and appetizers. I loved how the menu was easy to navigate with items marked gluten free clearly. I was most intrigued by the all chowder options, and they are all gluten free!! I wanted to order a flight to sample them, but I decided to try the lobster one first. It was amazing, like some of the best "lobster"chowder I've had. The chowder part was perfectly creamy and had a good texture. It contained a lot of Argentinian shrimp and other veggies. I cannot wait to try the other chowders on my next visit. When our chowders came out first, the waiter brought complimentary sourdough bread. Since I have a gluten free diet, they accommodated me and brought out my own gluten free bread. Each time my food came out (chowder, bread, and entree!), the manager served it to ensure that it was prepared as carefully as possible. For my entree, I ordered the dungenes crab salad. The salad part was average, nothing to really say about it except the vegetables were fresh. The crab part, however, was delicious. Serving size is generous, and I felt so full after eating it. The salad was the perfect vessel to carry the crab . The other two people had the crab cake sandwich combo. For the price, it's a great deal to get the sandwich, fries, and a bowl of chowder. Both said the crab cake itself was good and should have been served by itself. The sandwich had a chipotle aioli, bacon, and avocado that took away from the flavors of the crab cake. In that instance, less would have been more. I look forward to returning the next time I am at Alki Beach. It's a great place for seafood!

I have no idea how we snagged an upstairs patio table for four, in less than 10 minutes, on the first sunny, cloudless, 75 degree day of 2021 (in April!), when Alki Beach was full to bursting with (frequently mask-less) tourists, sunbathers and locals. But I'm not complaining! We were "unlucky" enough to be seated at one of the only tables lacking a parasol, so I took one for the team and absorbed ludicrous amounts of vitamin D and UV rays on my defenseless, balding crown, allowing the wife and our friends to enjoy the cool, breezy shade. I hope they appreciated the sacrifice! Our server, Luis, was a complete gentleman, an exceptionally patient with us. It'd been nearly a year since we'd seen the friends that joined us at the table (ever since our wedding last May), so our excited conversation frequently distracted us from paying attention to the menu and ordering, like normal people. I think Luis probably oscillated back and forth between our table and the kitchen/bar about four times, taking and delivering drink orders as they trickled in from our table in one-sies and two-sies, before we figured out some actual food to order. My wife and I split the phenomenal Dungeness Crab Dip appetizer, as we'd had a late breakfast, and a couple cocktails each, which came with little crostini bread slices: the perfect vehicle for the rich, luxurious, garlicky spread! Our friends shared the chicken strips (apparently they're not much into seafood), but also knocked back a couple drinks with us, while shooting the breeze. We honestly spent more time at the table than is probably kosher during COVID and reduced capacity, but it flew by so fast, and we racked up a pretty sizeable bill between the four of us, so I doubt Duke's will be complaining. Overall, the experience was close to perfect, although with weather and company like that, it would be hard not to be. I have only two critiques, and neither are sufficient to reduce my rating by a star: 1) the cocktails are a tad on the expensive side, but since this is a seaside bar in a touristy area, I can't say it was unexpected, and 2) although we tried two or three times, we were unable to move to a shaded table or one with a parasol, due to capacity limitations and existing reservations. Understandable, if a little frustrating. Alki Beach leaves visitors spoilt for choice when it comes to dining and drinking along the strip, and in different weather or a different season, there may be better options. But Duke's outdoor patio, incredible service, delectable food (one appetizer and several envious sidelong glances at entrees ordered by neighboring tables was enough to convince us!) will make it our go-to option for our next visit to Alki Beach...whenever the weather graces us with another textbook perfect spring or summer day!

I like the ambiance, we sat in a booth by the bar. The waiter was sweet and attentive and gave me a taste of wine to sample. So, service was good. The food, certainly not memorable and I wouldn't say good. I had the small bowl of cioppino with about two prawns and random small pieces of white fish. This weak bowl was $31.00. My partner had salmon for $43.00. The sourdough bread was nice. My 9 0z glass of wine wasn't good, it tasted not fresh and for $19 disappointing. We had marionberry cobbler for dessert with two scoops of ice cream that seemed generous. All in all we are not looking to go back to Duke's. Our bill was $156 with tip. Next time we will get food at Met Market and go to Hamilton Viewpoint to enjoy the food and view. I hate knocking a West Seattle establishment as we are natives but Duke's is a no go.

Ok so the decor and ambiance was cool, service was ok. I felt like the food was so-so and definitely overpriced for what it is. Probably won't be coming back.

Can I compare one Duke's against another? I legitimately enjoy Duke's Seafood's food. I find it quite tasty. Their food, though, tends to be more expensive than most but good portion sizes. I typically stick to the sandwiches and lesser price points. Their cocktails are consistent but not something to seek out. So, if I go to Duke's I'll go to the one in Tukwila over this one for three reasons. One is beyond Duke's control but parking is not easy. I drove around for five minutes before I found some street parking that took ten minutes to walk from and then at night there wasn't a lot of street lights so I could clearly see my way back. At Tukwila there's always parking nearby. Two, I was told that the view was stellar and made it the Duke's to visit, but where we sat there was no view. It appeared only the window seats had a nice view and everywhere else not so much. The decor was standard Duke's so if I am not getting a view I'll default to the easier parking. Three, the service. The Tukwila Duke's keeps me returning because they're so welcoming and so relaxed. I did not experience that here. Our waitress who started with us was very quiet and seemed uncertain. Like she would walk past the table several times before we ordered and since my friend was talking she would continue walking. Most would have interrupted since let's face it - and was the case here - there would be no break in conversation. Twenty minutes later she paused long enough I could tell her we were ready, she took our order, and then was never seen after that. Not that she just didn't stop, it appeared she left. After that no one really talked with us. They'd refill our water, but otherwise? Nothing. But they kept hovering more and more and slowly taking bit by bit off the table. Once they started cleaning the table as we sat there we got the hint and left. Here's the thing - I'll leave if need be, just tell me direct that a party is coming in and the table is needed and I'll go. Tell me there's people waiting and I'll go. I'm understanding! But the passive aggressive approach doesn't do it for me. It's Duke's so it's solid.

Food is great, service is great, ambiance is fantastic. Music is fun. We like the sustainable aspect of the meals. All is fresh!

TL;DR: Expect to pay tourist prices for decent food and drinks - what you are really paying for is the view and service. The top deck is completely lovely to sit at and nicely socially distanced. Quiet for being right on Alki. Service was friendly and prompt. I had the calamari steaks - which were lightly fried (honestly could have been cooked a tad longer to my taste) kind of fat cuts of calamari -and the Caesar salad, which was just fine and had a nice amount of cheese and croutons. My spouse had a chicken sandwich which she said was good and the fries which she said were really good (having stolen two, I concur). We both had the cucumber mojito which was served up and was nicely sweet. The free bread was awesome. Go, you'll have fun!

Picture this, upstairs patio open so you have the amazing views of Alki without the foot traffic. It's a little spendy for the amount of food and the drinks. Pups be a bit more spirit forward but you are there for the views.

Great location with spectacular views of the sound and beach. Always happy to work with special dietary needs. Food is consistent and good. The servers are attentive and professional.

I'll start out by saying the Service was wonderful! The ambiance is very small town homey, and the views are great! The food however... I've had better seafood in the desert. As a place that's advertised as one of the "best" seafood restaurants in Seattle, their seafood is pretty mid. The seasonal clam appetizer had a very strong clam brine flavor that was a bit overpowering. Clam chowder was good, but not great. We got the flight of 3 chowders and the "award winning" was the only one we liked. The other two chowders (lobster mobster, & north by northwest) were more red and had a unique taste that wasn't for me. For the entree we got the "Dungeness Crab Stuffed Just For The Halibut" which was a decent size for us to split. The Halibut tasted fresh and flavors were overall good, but it didn't blow me away in any way. Dukes overall gave overpriced seafood diner vibes and unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this place to a friend.

The BEST Clam Chowder I've ever had, but everything else was standard. Cute little place too! I started our late lunch off with a Margarita. This was followed by the Clam Chowder and complimentary bread. Chowder has a lot of flavor and I recommend getting a couple baskets of bread for dipping, if they allow. I mean, we could have really done without the other items. The Crab Cake and Quesadilla were both very basic and the presentation could have been better. I was surprised to see that the Carb Cake came on this giant plate, with a little bit of sauce on the side and a very small scoop of salad. Quite underwhelming, and I'm guessing the highlight of the dish is the sauce. The Quesadilla was small and I'm thinking there was more chips on the plate, than Quesadilla. Salsa could have been better. The server was very friendly and spent some time chatting with us. We were able to connect and bond on the fact that she's originally from Long Beach. Of course, I was just visiting for the weekend and had to swing by for some delicious Chowder.

Another DELICIOUS satisfying lunch at a restaurant that IS BETTER than over rated $$$ Salty's!! I tend to always order the same items on the menu...I crave them..bowl of Lobster Bisque, Deviled eggs,Crab Melt with Avacado it = worth every $29.57 with out tip !!!!!!!

Dukes was perfect for celebrating my birthday! Thank you for the delicious hamburger on the house as part of the birthday club. The service was excellent! It was a little noisy but not too bad. Enjoying my 1.00 miller high life and a glass of Chardonnay. My husband also had a burger and a Mac and Jack. It was a really enjoyable evening at one of our local restaurants. Another excellent choice is their crab cake sandwich which I love and had two weeks ago while visiting Dukes on Alki. Winter is my favorite time of year to visit this local restaurant.

Dined in Tacoma last night, I will never understand plating chowder on a plate. The increased surface area without a bowls insulating properties means it was almost room temperature before it reaches the table. Also not impressed with clam, or lobster mobster.

Overpriced and mediocre food at best. Service was slow getting started, but our waiter was friendly. Location is right across Alki Beach with a view of the sunset . Ambiance was warm and moody (in a good way), but I'm afraid that's all it had going for it.

Needed a last minute reservation for a large group and they were super accommodating to fit us in. The stars are mainly for the lovely service, slider salmon, and crab cakes. 1. Polite, speedy, and excellent service. The staff were all super nice! We had a complicated group and they were kind enough to deal with us while giving us window seats. 2. Venue--feels a bit like American diner but it's ok, you got the Alki beach view, no need for fancier venue, especially when the staff are nice. 3. The price is a bit high but the food was pretty good. So I'd say it's fair. 4. Crab cakes were delish! 5. Wish they had grilled salmon instead of crusted and fried. 6. Must order the slider salmon!!! 7. Family friendly. There's a kid menu, which I LOVE! Would definitely come back!

This place is phenomenally good if you love seafood! We had a late Sunday-night dinner here and were very impressed with the freshness of the fish/shellfish, the quality of the food, and the service (especially from our waiter, Brian, who was very accommodating with my gluten sensitivity, and super-courteous and quick!). I definitely recommend trying the dinghies of chowders, because it's too hard to choose just one - they're excellent! I also highly recommend the salads, especially if they involve scallops and prawns. And please, please give Brian a raise.

First time here & everyone was so pleasant right off the bat! The host to our AMAZING server T ! She was such a delight our whole family loved her, she added to the whole experience. That's not to mention the incredible food. The clam chowder was great! Drinks great! Whole place 1000/10 recommend!

Went here on a "warm" Seattle afternoon, so wait time was longer than usual. Appreciated that they are able to text us so we can walk around while we wait. The crab dip was delicious! I loved how the crostini that came along with it had a crunch on the outside but soft on the inside. Sometimes I'd go to other places where the crostini was so hard that it would scratch the roof of my mouth. The Award Winning Clam Chowder was very flavorful. I really enjoyed that. However, I was underwhelmed by the cod. It was juicy and fresh and I loved how it was panko crusted. However it lacked taste. It was bland. If it wasn't I would've totally given it a whole 5 stars. It definitely would've been justifiable for the $30 fish & chips combo. The complimentary sourdough bread was also like the crostini, perfect ratio of crunch outside and softness inside. Would definitely go again for the chowder.

Well we walked into this restaurant Tuesday when place is usually slow. We wanted some drinks and appetizers. After waiting 20 mins get manu ...and 40 mins take my order I was kind of excited thinking "it place must be good" When food came food quality is worse than food stand in bite of Seattle(street fair) place is worse than "Ivars Acres of clam" (one in DTseattle) If you like Dukes go to one in Bellevue Location. Trust me. This place is tourist trap and not worth your time.

Never thought you could completely screw up a to-go order until tonight. Best part was it wasn't even busy when I picked it up! Ordered the lobster chowder, calamari steak, fish and chips, and the blackened salmon salad. At least we got salad dressing, making the blackened salmon salad the only good part of our last meal in Seattle. We got no sauce for the calamari and no sauce for the fish and chips. The lobster chowder was... unique... we didn't even finish it, threw it in the trash. The two coleslaws (which weren't even a part of our order, but were in our bags) were sad, they basically throw Chinese chicken salad dressing on lettuce and call it coleslaw. The fish and chips seemed like frozen food you buy at Walmart. The icing on the cake was the fact we received a flat disk of melted cheese in our calamari box, please tell me where that is listed on the menu! The high ratings and cost for subpar food seem like a common theme in the Seattle area. You could not pay me to get food from here again.

Dukes seafood is a famous staple for seafood restaurants. The food is amazing, but most importantly the chowder is soooooo good! In my opinion the chowder is what makes them famous. We decided to go to Dukes on 6-22-21 for my wife's birthday. I made a reservation for 7pm at the Alki beach location. (We do live on lake Union, closer to the lake Union location but the Alki location has a better view). Once arrived at the restaurant we went to check in 10 minutes early and I asked if we can sit on the rooftop outdoor location. I was told they don't accept reservations for the patio and we would have to wait 50 minutes longer. That really makes no sense at all. Why on earth would you be able to make a reservation for inside only. The lady at the counter also told us to wait 10 minutes before she can check us in. We waited 10 minutes and when we returned she acted like she's never seen us before. Extremely simple minded, it actually offended me. This is the reason I'm rating 4/5 stars. Our dinning experience was fantastic though. The food was great and our waiter was very nice, awake, and responsive. I would highly recommend the Crab dip, Stuffed Salmon, and a bowl of chowder!!! (Pictures shown) They did not mention any happy birthday to my wife even though I mentioned in the notes of the reservation it's her birthday. (And they check ids for drinks). But that's ok! Dukes was covid safe and has what they quote the best air filtration system around. All staff uses masks and gloves and the venue provides sanitizer. Although my experience was mixed, the dinning experience is great. I would recommend it. - Colter

Personally, I feel you're paying for the view/beach access here. Came with some friends and we ordered salmon dishes and a crab salad. We were disappointed to find the salmon in all dishes was dry. Pretty to look at but definitely lacking in flavor. Service and view on the deck was nice - but more expensive than it's worth in my opinion.

Came in Tuesday after lunch and experienced wonderful service by Sean and Derek. I had the Dungeness crab cake app, Cioppino, and a glass of Viognier. Incredible views of Alki beach (which is dog friendly ). Will definitely try to come back when I'm back in town!

We ordered $75 worth of food and it was 2 small/medium pieces of cod and fries, a romaine salad with no croutons or lemon wedge, and their original chowder with some oyster crackers!!! $75!! I could have gone to sunfish or spud for half the price and better portions/ presentation. I am in no way new, I grew up in west Seattle, and I am tired of alki restaurants being over priced for average food. This place can do way better on To Go orders. I specifically had to order somewhere else cheaper for my kids so I didn't spend $150 at dukes for a super basic meal I can do better at making myself. I am very disappointed.

I'm always on the lookout for good seafood establishments and came across Dukes while visiting a neighboring restaurant. Decided to come back a few days later to see what this famous chowder was all about. Believe me when I say it's definitely worth it! We tried the double dingy of Lobster Monster & Cajun Chicken. Absolutely loved it and wished we went for all 4 varieties they offered. Each one had its own profile of flavors. No repetition here. Dingy portions are good for a sample but believe me it's work getting a bowl. I had the stuffed & fluffed prawns & the mister had the fish & chips. At first glance we thought the serving size wasn't enough but we're we fooled. We were quite guilty by the end of the meal. I guess the house sourdough bread helped ‍. It was warm, crusty exterior and soft inside goodness was a great accompaniment to my pesto sauce. Drinks were really good. Expected it to be weak but it hit the spot. I had the cucumber mojito & a Long Island. He had the blood Orange margarita. Although the food was very tasty & quite fulfilling, the service was just as great. The Hostess was welcoming and sat us pretty quickly. Our waitress Lexi, who was new, left a lasting impression. She was engaging, personable and quite charming. She explained she was new but didn't miss a step. Even the support staff stopped by to make sure we were good and asked if we needed anything. Duke staffing was the icing to a great date night for first time visitors of this restaurant. We will be back. Hopefully you'll have more crab, clams or oyster options Aloha from Hawaii Lexi. You're doing great!

Dukes is great food but don't ever sit outside. Went during happy hour and had to sit outside because I had my dog and waited for 30 minutes with no service so I left.

I'm glad I was convinced by my girlfriend on Duke's, because it's actually really really good. First time ever was in Tacoma, happened to walk right by it on my first-ever trip to Alki Beach. We were originally going to go somewhere else, but Duke's proved too strong of a lure for me. Had the excellent Dungeness Crab Stuffed Just For The Halibut, 8 ounce variety. A bit pricy at $39, but that's the price range for halibut. And it's VERY difficult to find good halibut...Duke's gets it done! One of the best fish entrées I've had anywhere. Also had the Award Winning Clam Chowder again. Gotta say, this has to be my favorite clam chowder outside of Pike Place Chowder. Service was really good, no complaints from me. Really glad I was able to run into Duke's here, I regret nothing!

This rating is only for the Bloody Mary and no food. The drink lacked that nice Bloody Mary tomato taste, as you can see in the color. My drink was strong but just needed more mix I think. Despite getting a double it tasted lack luster in comparison to other bloody marys I've had. However, the two prawns were AWESOME and tasted super good. Much better than the typical slice of bacon you get with a BM. Presentation was real nice

Service was bad. Left me never wanting to go back. I'm a fairly patient coming from the service industry. I sat at the bar empty on an afternoon. Two people stood by the pos system chatting away. Bartender facing the opposite direction and a man in collared shirt facing toward me. After several minutes I asked if I could get some service. The bartender turns around gives me a dirty look, and then turns back to the guy giving him a look like I've interrupted them. Nice way to acknowledge guest wouldn't you say?

Fantastic dinner spot with excellent food, drinks and service! Our waiter was tremendous. I do not recall his name, but he's the super fun, super attentive, heavily accented one! Bread came out quickly and was hot and fresh with butter! Don't fill up on it because more is yet to come! The crab dip is a featured appetizer and for good reason. Hot & bubbly, full of crab with warm toasted bread to spread it on, Stuffed Halibut, Crab "Un" cakes, Black & Bleu Salmon Salad & the Mixed Grill were the entrees and suffice it to say there were no leftovers! Grapefruit Nirvana, Blood Orange Margarita & some other drink we cannot recall, were all amazing! I'm running out of adjectives, so head to Duke's now!

Expensive but you get what you pay for. It's like going to a restaurant in a movie. It's cozy and reliably delicious. Staff are kind. Love the location.
