Booked a room at the lodge and dinner and a house tour as a birthday present for my wife. Checked in at 14.30 and was taken to a wonderful ensuit room with patio doors onto a beautiful garden, great start. Had a house tour that afternoon which was brilliant. The guide was well rehearsed and the house was impressive. Explored the grounds a bit that afternoon ready for the next day. The dinner in the evening was lovely with a small menu and a good selection of wine. The food was good and the service was good. £50 for three courses. The breakfast the next day was excellent and a good start to a long day exploring. The whole place is impressive with a great children’s adventure play ground, arboretum and the amazing Queen Elizabeth II walled garden. All in all our mini break at Dumfries House Lodge was a luxurious treat.

What a superb place to stay, set in magnificent well maintained grounds with plenty of parking. Credit to the housekeeping team, as the whole place was spotless! All the staff are so helpful and make you feel very welcome. Our room was well equipped and spacious, the decor is in line with the building. There are two sitting rooms in which you can use and order drinks. Dinner and breakfast were both freshly cooked to order and very tasty. Would highly recommend.

I can honestly say that this was the most refined hotel and surroundings that my wife and I have ever stayed at. We stayed in 'Room 8' and were overwhelmed with the quality of the furnishing and the outlook onto the garden at the rear of the property. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more efficient if they tried.||One semi-negative comment that I could make was the cooked breakfast. I ordered a 'Full Scottish Breakfast' minus the black pudding and the haggis and I was taken back when my plate arrived as it comprised of one fried egg, one slice of lorne sausage, one mushroom, half of a tomato and a very small slice of potato scone along with one slice of bacon which was covered in white brine that I had to scrape off, I was expecting two slices of bacon at least to make up for the loss of the black pudding and the haggis.

We booked in for 4 nights so that we could visit Dumfries House and go to Moffat to visit my ancestors - in the cemetery!|For reasons that I cannot remember, we booked the one bedroom self catering cottage, rather than a room in the hotel. It turned out to be a great decision. We had loads of space and a fully equipped kitchen that meant that we could have a snack on those evenings when we had had large meal at lunchtime.|We ate in the hotel on 2 nights and the meals were excellent. We could have had breakfast in the hotel dining room if we had wanted to - extra charge of course - but we were happy to have our Alpen in our cosy cottage. The staff were all attentive and helpful. The best part was being able to stroll through the grounds of Dumfries House early in the morning when no-one else was around - except the gardeners. Nowhere seemed to be out of bounds, except for the Walled Garden, which opened at 10am. The House was just a 3 minute walk from our cottage.

We had one night at Dumfries Lodge and loved it. Andrea was so welcoming and professional. We stayed in room 18 which was beautifully decorated with a comfortable bed. We had dinner in the Lodge restaurant which was very tasty. Also enjoyed the lounges for a pre or post dinner drink. The only downside was that our bedroom was very hot, making it uncomfortable for sleeping. There was also tea and coffee facilities but no fridge so the milk was sat out in a hot room along with the bottles of water. Breakfast was great, lots of choice. We topped the weekend off with a tour of Dumfries House. Once again the staff were very professional. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We stayed for one night - a Christmas present. We had a very comfortable room, with everything we needed. We walked in the Dumfries House Garden and arrived mid-afternoon. We were well looked after throughout. We ate dinner which was very good. A very enjoyable stay.

Dumfries House Lodge has Bed and Breakfast rooms along with two self-catering cottages. It is set a short distance from the main house, cafe and visitor centre but feels quiet and separated. It has its own parking, a courtyard, two communal lounges and a restaurant. The period décor and furniture throughout is beautiful and very high quality. The whole place is also spotlessly clean. Guests can relax in the courtyard or one of the two lounges and order drinks. The restaurant serves dinner (booking required) and breakfast. Food is excellent and freshly prepared. Service is super attentive, polite and friendly. Our room was very comfortable, well equipped and had good WiFi. Dumfries House estate is there to explore, very highly recommended.
