"Less than a year after opening, Dumpling Club will close up shop at 3233 22nd Street in the Mission District. Owner Cathay Bi made the announcement on Instagram on Sunday. The charming storefront opened in January 2023, though Bi started the business back in 2019 as a subscription-based, small-batch dumpling club." - Lauren Saria

For the Love of All Things Small-Batch and Tightly Wrapped: Dumpling Club Opens in San Francisco’s Mission District - Eater SF

"When Cathay Bi folded her first dumplings, part of a test batch for friends and family, she had no idea it would be the start of not just a business endeavor, but a community. Since those early days in 2019, Dumpling Club has grown from a subscriber-based, small-batch dumpling club — one that would sell out weekly — to its most recent iteration: a Mission District shop opening on January 20." - Dianne de Guzman

Google
Saw their new storefront while walking by and ordered some frozen pickled veggie and pork dumplings and pumpkin cakes. This is a cute store currently doing pickup for orders and looks like it's run by an Asian woman and her small team! Very cute - I hope they open to become a full restaurant soon. Steamed the dumplings at home and enjoyed them. Only thing is they're a bit pricey compared to other dumpling shops ($24-28 for 16 dumplings) but always down to support small Asian businesses.

Google
Dumpling club is a local gem that shouldn’t be ignored! Their Thursday hot service for the mission farmers market is delicious, while their frozen dumplings and wontons have become weekly staples. I recently went to their Chinese Breakfast this past weekend and loved everything from the duck congee to the pineapple malasadas to the incredible baos. I haven’t done one of their classes yet, but I’m excited to later this summer. Do not sleep on DC.

Google
Been wanting to try DC's hot food pop-up for awhile. I picked up some tea eggs, sesame noodles, and a jar of pickled cucumbers. Everything is on point and reminds me of home cooked meals growing up.

We absolutely love Dumpling Club. Their food is incredible, they’re thoughtful about their ingredients and sources, they make delicious creative dumplings - what’s not to love! Plus you get the bonus of supporting a brilliant local female-owned business. So happy for The DC team and really cannot wait to see what’s next!

Beautiful and clean store with fire dumplings! By far the best place in SF for 🥟

Google
Sad to see dumpling Club is going to close. The Club was no doubt a top tier place to get some food as well as top-tier kind hearted employees. You will be missed.

Google
This place is so amazing. We have loved everything weve purchased her. So delicious! I especially love their pork wontons.

Google
The food was good, but it's overpriced! We spent $50 for 3 little baos and congee. We also had to wait 45min and there was nowhere to sit.

Yelp
I truly wish dumpling club didn't close!! The food was unreal!!! I waited on their last day for 2 hours and I still think it was worth it. The Dan bing was phenomenal, I literally scraped up every last bit. The pork dumplings were good and the simple broth with it was very nice! The egg tart was delicious too, especially with the thicker crust. Only thing that fell short for me was the savory soy milk... just felt like it needed a bit more punch to it. The staff were really nice and once you ordered, it was really quick service. Really good quality/quantity for the price! RIP dumpling club :(

Yelp
Absolutely AMAZING! I stumbled upon this hidden gem after finding out Alnico was no longer taking waitlists, and I am SO glad I did! First when you walk in, the ambiance is very unique. It reminds me of a Bon Appétit test kitchen with their open concept kitchen. I loved that we were able to see what the chefs were cooking up in the back, and I loved the communal tables. Apparently, the building used to be a cooking school so the layout is very open! Originally, Dumpling Club was a frozen Dumpling order spot, and not a dine in restaurant. They only recently started testing out dining in as restaurant, and they are doing it so well! They still do the online frozen Dumpling orders as they only open the restaurant three days a week! Now onto the food.. We ordered the Momos in roasted tomato sauce, black sheep lamb noodles, and shrimp wontons. The first dish we were served were the Black Sheep Lamb Noodles. Absolutely blew my mind! This tasted like an amped up version of a traditional Chinese lamb and cumin chow mein, but without the lamb! Black Sheep is a company that makes vegan meat, and this "lamb" tasted so similar to actual meat I was wowed. The noodles were a burst of flavor and spice with the cumin and heat of the sauce. So good, we were licking every last drop we could of the sauce. The next dish were the shrimp wontons--surprisingly good and well balanced. The wontons had dried shrimp inside I believe and it added a boost to the shrimp flavor. The spicy sauce was delicious as well, not to spicy or salty! The highlight of my dine in experience were the Momos in Roasted Tomato Sauce. Where do I even begin? The momos (Nepalese dumplings) are little dumplings, they're a bit different in shape than Eastern Chinese dumplings, but nevertheless delicious. They were rested in a bath of tomato sauce with spots of olive oil? and some cilantro. This sauce was the best tomato sauce ever. It was like they took the best flavors of the most tomato-y tomato, roasted it, blended it out, and put it on a plate. I really, really recommend dunking those momos in the sauce because the slight acidity added to the flavor of the meaty chicken filling immensely. Other than the food, Staff were also so so nice. There was this one woman, I never caught her name, but she was so informative and I could tell she was passionate about her food. I believe that Dumpling Club really believes and cares for their output and their food's quality and taste really reflect this mindset. 5/5 stars for sure!!

Yelp
Stopped by here a few weeks ago with my roommate and my girlfriend after seeing a post about the weekend brunch menu. I was very pleasantly surprised We got there around 12 on Sunday and there was a bit of a line/ wait. This place has plenty of seating but it is very popular so expect a wait if you plan on dining in. While waiting in line, we were given a menu by the staff members so we could pick and choose what we want. The interior of the restaurant is put together very nicely - all tables are family/ Biergarten style so you will be sitting next to other groups and sharing condiments like chili oils. As for decor, the prints and furniture surrounding the place are very cute. They also stock excellent cooking books, merch, and condiments. Once we place our order up front we waited to find a table to sit at and waited for our food. In total it took about 20 minutes for both of those things to happen. For the food, we ordered almost the entire brunch menu. Every thing was very well made - highlights for me were the Dan Bing, the vegan congee roll , and the pineapple malasada. Also - I have to give a huge shout out to the condiments in the table. They brought this meal to another level. With a great menu and friendly service I'd definitely recommend giving dumpling club brunch a go if you can. Looking forward to stopping by for their weekday Service 5/5

Yelp
Came here for the first time and had a great experience! The menu is both traditional and inventive at the same time, I will absolutely be back! It's exciting that their menu is always changing. We tried a Dan bing and char siu bao, both were excellent but the Dan bing was our favorite! The pancake was chewy and flavorful, eggs were cooked well and topped with an abundance of fresh herbs. I will note that the wait time is pretty long, so go on a day where you have some time to spare. But also note that it's absolutely worth it! The craftsmanship and care is very evident in their food, I'd definitely recommend this spot!

Yelp
Perfectly folded handmade dumplings are what put Dumpling Club on the map, but now with their new space they've expanded to cooking classes, pop up events, and community. Dumpling Club has grown from a subscriber-based club with orders selling out weekly, to opening a permanent shop in San Francisco. I came in for their second ever Chinese breakfast and tried steamed baos, wontons, chicken congee, mushroom congee (which was so delicious and umami), chow mein, and Dan tat (egg tarts) from Astranda Bakery. I also got sucked into the cutest merch.

Yelp
So excited for Cathay and the Dumpling Club family to finally have a store front operating out of the old Tinker Kitchen (where they made all of their goods for the past few years). I've been a subscriber of her dumplings since April 2020 and Cathay has only continued to level up since then - building out an entire team to feed the dumpling masses.

Yelp
After March 2020, the food section for the San Francisco Chronicle and SF Gate, for those who are non-subscribers and more inclined to search for news online, changed directions in the norm of recipes and restaurant reviews and new openings. The latter became a non-story. Instead, the world change evolved into a landscape where chefs, cooks, and even your everyday person began cooking out of their own kitchens to provide food for communities. Look at some of my photos or lookup those articles about the company and the founder. I finally started by cooking half of the HK pork and shrimp wontons (); following the provided instructions, it took me about ten minutes to prepare my bowl of wonton soup (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=f4lW_iRlEIiNPh5-ve5gLQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), merely opening a can of chicken broth. I absolutely enjoyed them as the skin was still intact and tender while the filling had a nice chew and bite from the ground pork, shrimp pieces, and a smattering of dried shrimp (not normally a fan but enjoyed these). About a week later, I decided to cook the scallion pancakes (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=lxrD_A-Y239SaYWpxt9GUg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). Sadly, I turned the stove too high and likely didn't use enough oil... there goes my line cook application. It was still tasty and I finished it as it didn't taste as bad as it looked. Live and learn, I hope to do a better job on my next batch. Liked that it wasn't overly salty as I've had in some restaurants. A few days later, I cooked my second one and it turned out much better (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=L4I05II6H-xOqwDO4wqH1A&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). I am now looking at her menu weekly to try her rotating selection of items. In fact, I got three items ((https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=F5ONuni31RGobH2Ekp3XTg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=h4mleq8ALmgSkp2QZHW1OA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=xG4VCG2zFnsaXuF0oSCxnw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q)) just this past week and look forward to hone my cooking skills... as if I had any. Highly recommend trying. *** If you see any new items available that interest you, order it or you may find it sold out when you wait.

Yelp
I have been a subscriber to Dumpling Club since they first opened in 2020, and Tuesday frozen dumpling deliveries have been a highlight of our weekly meals. Dumpling Club just got a permit that allows them to sell hot food!! And they're trying out being open during the weekly Farmer's Markets, 4-7pm Thursdays. So yesterday my family biked over after school and got a delicious hot dumpling meal. We tried the dumplings (pork and shrimp wontons with chili oil), the star anise edamame (huge fan favorite) and the spicy cucumber kimchi (nom nom nom). Quick call out to fellow parents: I didn't realize the wontons would be cooked in the chili oil, since I normally get delivery where it's on the side. So I asked at the counter if I could order another set of dumplings with zero spicy for kiddo, and they were super happy to help. Everything was so good. I can't believe (ok that's a lie) how much better they are than cooking the exact same dumplings as me, but I will TAKE IT! A new Thursday meal tradition has been born! The way you order is via their hot plates app. They can't take cash. So you could order ahead of time if you wanted. They have two small cute tables set up and quickly brought extra chairs so we all had a seat. Everything was lovely and delicious. And then we bought peaches and fresh beautiful flowers at the Market. Total Thursday win.

Yelp
Delicious kimchi and pork dumplings! This is my first time trying the frozen ones from their store in the mission- but they are smaller than I expected for the price , these were ~30 for 16 dumplings

Tracy Y.

Yelp
I've been making dumplings my whole life so I think I'm educated in the ways of the dumpling. I've eaten probably a thousand over my lifetime and made hundreds. 5 stars for being authentic and well wrapped with a perfect ratio of filling to dough. This is something that is rarely achieved, tbh. The ingredients are good too. My only nitpick is it was a little salty for my taste buds. Hopefully somebody will decide that they think so too and add just a smidgen less soy or salt in the filling. Otherwise, it was perfect. So tasty. I'll still buy more. They're served frozen - like how we all do it at home and how it's best bought for take out. it's all well done. Kudos to the team.

Yelp
REVIEW IS FOR TO GO ONLY. Cute space, lots of offerings of merchandise including hot sauce, t-shirts, and celebration cards. I purchased a pack of the frozen pork and shrimp dumplings. After boiling the dumplings, I split one open to ensure the pork and shrimp were cooked. Though the texture of the wrapper and filling are both spot-on, I must agree with another review - the dumplings are too salty. And I do not mean a touch salty, but REALLY salty. Unclear if it's the amount of salt or soy sauce, but these dumplings need less salt. I chalk this up to a fluke and maybe the business will take this into account. In the future, I hope to try other their in-house food and other take-out items, but for now, I will put a pause on Dumpling Club.

Yelp
Cute place, especially with the new look! We had been ordering their frozen dumplings before they had a storefront. From interacting with their friendly staff I could tell that they were truly passionate about the food they make and the pantry items they carry. We love the scallion pancakes and curry dumplings.

Robert K.

Yelp
Tried to support in the beginning, and signed up with their list that they created. Was never contacted, so did not feel the need to support, even after a couple of attempts to follow up.

Yelp
Happened past this place the Sunday of Chinese New Year weekend and they were at the tail end of a New Years dumpling production extravaganza. I was lucky to happen by on the last day and had the most yummy Tangyuan (filled Mochi balls in broth). Totally sublime. Fresh and delicious- like having home made food made with such care. The folks that work here are really welcoming. I am only sad to write this review because I know how popular they are going to get. It was already crowded. Even so, I'll be a regular!

Yelp
Best dumplings in town, and I have had a lot of dumplings. Open for sit down just 3 days a week. Thursday hours correspond with the Mission 22nd St farmers market. Both are amazing and part of what makes the Mission SF's greatest neighborhood!!!

R L.

Yelp
Ran into them at the community market on 22nd/Mission... was curious so I ordered the 8 dumplings for $15 off their website. Definitely tastes authentically Chinese (delicious!), but they lacked a bit of flavor... needed a dipping sauce of sorts. I live around the corner so I added chili oil and they were delicious! ...but also gone in 3 minutes because you really don't get much. I'm not a huge person but it would take $60 or $75 of those dumplings to actually fill me. Good quality, good taste, cake out fresh n hot, but way too expensive and could've used a bit more flavor.
