We tried this restaurant for the first time this weekend, looking for a new (additional) spot for dumplings and more. We ordered the wonton in chili oil, pan fried pork buns, and hot & spicy fried rice.
They started the meal with a complimentary scallion pancake, which was very good. Then our hot & spicy fried rice arrived. It was good, though not very spicy.
We waited around 20 minutes and our pan fried pork buns arrived, all burst, with the soup more in the plate than in the buns. The dough wasn't quite right, fully gummy and soaked, as if it almost wasn't the right dish. They had been flipped upside down and were just a pile of mush, covered in a lot of oil, unlike any pan fried pork buns we've ever gotten. About 10min later, they tried to drop off another plate of (oily) dumplings at the table, that wasn't what we ordered. They took it back and double-checked our order on the paper and saw that we had ordered the wonton in chili oil, which came about 10min later.
Overall a very mixed and long (for what it was) meal with some good food, some not-so-good, and lots of weird pacing. A couple of the servers were friendly and did check in on us a few times.
Sidenote - I love chili oil but the one they had there wasn't my favorite - it's less spicy, more salted black soybean. No big deal there, just not my cup of tea.
