"The tiny, counter-service spot is primarily a takeout and delivery joint, but there are a couple of tables for those who want to (carefully) slurp soup dumplings right away. The menu includes a variety of Chinese-American delivery staples and some specialized dishes such as spicy Sichuan seafood dishes, mala pots, a dry wok frog dish, preserved egg with chilled tofu, and roast beef wrapped up in a scallion pancake." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Google
Convenient late-night Chinese takeout spot with mediocre food. Dumpling Kitchen was one of the first Chinese takeout spots I tried after moving to Boston. Back then, my friends hyped it as their late-night lifesaver, but for me, the dumplings didn’t exactly surprise me. As I explored more of Boston’s late-night Chinese food scene, Dumpling Kitchen quickly dropped off my radar. It’s not the worst option out there, but let’s just say “edible” is doing most of the heavy lifting here. Honestly, some grocery store frozen dumplings might give them a run for their money—and at least those don’t come with the sticker shock of premium prices for thick-skinned dumplings with bland fillings. The classics didn’t do much better. Both the Mongolian Beef and Twice-Cooked Beef skimped on the meat and drowned in overly heavy sauces that muddied the flavors. The only dish that stood out was the shrimp fried rice, which, to be fair, is almost impossible to mess up. In the end, Dumpling Kitchen is a place I’d maybe turn to in a pinch, but not a spot I’d crave. It’s like the friend who’s always there late at night but never leaves you truly satisfied.

Google
DoorDash had this restaurant at a 4.7. Just came to rate them and I can see that they are correctly rated at 3.4! This food is absolutely TASTELESS! It tastes like a paper towel! We ordered the vegetarian lo mein and the beef wok flat noodles. They both taste the same…like a paper towel! So disappointing since we thought that being in the city, we would get good food. Nope! Don’t be fooled by the pictures. They have no flavor.

Google
They charged me $22.50 for a menu item that cost $15 on their menu :( Edit: In response to the owner's reply to this review, I wanted to post my receipt as proof. It's not itemized, but you could verify yourself that their in-restaurant menu does not contain a single item that costs more than $20, and the one item I ordered was merely $15.95. No other items were added. Neither did I order on an app. This was at the register. Even if the menu is outdated, a 50% increase is unjustified. As to the reason why I didn't argue, it was 11:15, I only went inside cause Sam's Shwarmas next door decided to close an hour early, I hate conflict, I was exhausted, and I had to wait 10 minutes at the register for someone to take my order. This is a warning for people who don't want to deal with this crap when they want their late nite food. I surely wouldn't want to be in this situation again. And as for the food? Despite being "Mala spicy beef", there's hardly any actual Mala. The Mala numbing effect is minimal (but I was able to taste some of it), with the spiciness mostly just being capsaicin. It was alright, but disappointing, should have paired with complimentary (or cheap) rice, and even $16 would've been too much for what I got. The $23 mark-up just made the experience so much worse.

Google
The only redeeming quality of this place is its late-night hours. Honestly, I’m surprised it’s still in business. My husband, who knows his Asian cuisine well, would rate this place 1 star—simply for being open late. Definitely not worth your money. We ordered the spring rolls, which were disappointing—one side was still cold. The house rice was bland and lacked flavor. The chicken teriyaki was the only dish that stood out as decent.

Mike Roberts

Google
Dont order Shrimp fried rice, its dry and tastelessness, you couldn't add soy sauce packages with my order? Could have definitely used that on my rice. Never going back again.

So-Called Citizen

Google
The food is as good as it gets for standard Chinese food but they give you microscopic amounts of dipping sauces. The chicken fingers are great, but are inedible without duck sauce. Again, the pork dumplings are terrific but only come with enough sauce for two dumplings. The place is good but I can’t order because no sauce.

Google
Must give this dumpling store a good review! The dumplings are extremely delicious and the service is enthusiastic. The kitchen is transparent and it's reassuring to eat. The food is served quickly and the cost performance is very high. Love it

Dinesha Owens-Finch

Google
The food is amazing and the service is fast. I gave them overall 3 and the service a 1 because 10.95 for 8 dumplings and they gave me 5. These numbers are/were on the menu. I’m sure that will change or they have some “split it” excuse but the people are nice and the food tastes amazing. If you are splitting the food be wary because yall going to be fighting over who gets a 3rd when yall was supposed to both have 4. 🤣🤣🤣

Yelp
Service was quick and fast paced! Lots to order from the menu and prices are mostly fair. Please note this place only offers take out. I ordered Beef Wok Flat Noodles and was pretty disappointed. The dish lacked flavor, sauce, and the noodles were all stuck together. I would love to give this place another try, given that it is only one of the few places in the area that opens late, but I will definitely be ordering something different.

Tamara D.

Yelp
The food was terrible. Ordered wonton and egg drop soup. Wonton soup smelled so FOUL and the egg drop soup was watery and had zero flavor. Threw both away in the trash. Chicken low mein had only a tiny couple pieces of chicken. The garlic chicken was the same! And all carrots and SPICY! The menu didn't mention that. This was a door dash order and they did NOT provide utensils, soy sauce, hot sauce or fortune cookies. I wasted $90 and entire family was disappointed.

Robo T.

Yelp
DK's pad kee mao is my favorite right now! So delicious!! The steamed chicken dumplings are also amazing!! The general gao is ok and the kung pow was weird because it was made with battered chicken rather than white meat. This place is the bomb if you get the right things.

Monica A.

Yelp
Came here after an event at the Somerville Armory - on this street everything was closed except for this quaint lil shop, which I didn't mind considering I'm always craving dumplings. Please note there is no seating - it's all takeaway and delivery. The lady who took our order was pleasant. We ordered soup dumplings & seafood dry pot. Everything was pretty good. Dough of the dumplings were perfect. And the dry pot was super spicy, exactly how I wanted it to be. It could have used more ginger for taste, but overall, solid late night eating. Total, it was a little under $30 for the two items. Wait time was about 15 minutes.

Joshua A.

Yelp
If I could leave a zero star review I would. Order takeout and the food is cold, mushy, and stale. Incredibly unhappy with the quality of the food. Do yourself a favor, don't order.

Marni M.

Yelp
My sister and I got take out as we were craving from dumplings after a night out. Luckily for us they were still open and doing delivery on a late Monday night especially as it was a holiday. We ordered 37. Tom Yam Kung Soup 18. Steamed Vegetable Dumplings 30. Mini Juicy Buns with Pork. The broth of the soup was super flavorful and we would have been happy with a large jug of that alone as the chicken and vegetables in the soup were subpar. The vegetable dumplings were ok but would have been better if we got them pan fried instead. I liked the juicy buns since they still retained some of the broth from the pork. Overall, we had a decent experience as everything was well packed and came in a timely manner. I could possibly see myself ordering from here again.

Kae J.

Yelp
We got an assortment of dumplings and sesame chicken. My only complaint would be that the entree did not come with rice. Is that a complaint ? I guess I didn't read the menu carefully! Lack of rice did not keep us from enjoying the food. This is a take out only restaurant. There is barely room to order in there. They didn't take too long to make our food and we waited just outside. The cashier actually brought our food out to us! I'd give the food 3.5 stars but the service bumped it up !

Hubert H.

Yelp
Got some broccoli with oyster sauce, and some mushrooms over bok choy greens for takeout. The sauce was much too sweet on both items, but especially the broccoli. The broccoli itself was also rather tough, and I ended up cooking it on my own stove for a bit longer. The mushrooms were decent, with some deeper flavors; but the bok choy was also a bit tough, and maybe not washed super well in between the leaves near the bulb area. It's a good place to get quick food in a hurry, and it's nice that it's open till late at night into the early mornings.

Em B.

Yelp
I ordered here again on Thanksgiving evening when they were the only restaurant open. They always come in when no one else is available. I wanted to update that they have since bought bigger containers so they do have bigger portions. Thank you for reading my review and making the change. The crab Rangoon was good, although a little oily and I ordered the Kung Pao chicken with medium spice and it was very spicy. I suggest the mild if you want medium spicy, and I only had a couple bites, I couldn't eat it. I asked for extra soy sauce for the white rice and there was no sauce included. Only place open late at night, but I gave them another chance and I'll just wait to eat until morning.

Ann F.

Yelp
Last night's order at 5pm was $60 worth of tasteless inedible sesame chicken & a pitiful pupu platter. Chicken was over cooked to being unable to cut with sharp knife, while the boneless pork tasted well past a serve safe expiration date, IYKYK, they were the same consistency as chicken. Crab rangoon were globs of carelessly under cooked fried dough missing "crab", chicken wings undercooked‍ never buying again

Eric C.

Yelp
Get the dumplings. They're delicious. Not sure why the ratings for this place aren't higher.

D R.

Yelp
I love Chinese food. Although I really can recognize great Chinese food, I have relatively low standards for what I demand out of a delivered Chinese meal. The mapo tofu was the most inedible Chinese dish I've ever eaten. The rest was mediocre but fine. Definitely wouldn't order again.

Rita V.

Yelp
I was totally upset to see the owner taking all the food from community fridge to use in his restaurant when I went to get food he was walking away with boxes filled with all the food shameful

Amaury J.

Yelp
I did take-out and was pleasantly surprised. For the price, I wasn't expecting much, but the food ended up being good. I had drunken noodles and an egg drop soup and both were delicious. It's your typical Chinese American food, so I wouldn't expect anything fancy. However, for a random nighttime craving I was satisfied. The one thing that surprised were the portion sizes. Usually when I order food like this for takeout I have enough for seconds/leftovers, but the portion here was much smaller than what I expected.

Jay S.

Yelp
Always there when I need it and the food hits just right. Thank you for being open so late when everyone else is closed!

Natasha N.

Yelp
Awesome restaurant, not sure why so many reviews are bad. Got this delivered late night, was looking at reviews before it arrived and I got nervous, but once it came it was super delicious. It arrived fast and the portions were good.. yes it is on a pricey side as far as chinese takeout goes, but we spent about 80 for two people and have food for the next 2 days, which is fine to us. like other reviews have mentioned, it's nothing exceptional, but it is quick takeout that will hit the spot .

Goldie T.

Yelp
I'm sorry, but this food was disgusting. This is *not* fried rice. I ordered through a delivery app and quickly submitted for a refund.

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
Stopped in for late night nosh after a show. Pan-fried Szechuan dumplings and salted pepper wings were fire. Server was accommodating for our eat in experience. Great spot--will return!

Justina B.

Yelp
I hate giving sub par reviews to local businesses, but simply this was barely edible. I ordered on Uber Eats and 31 mins between order and delivery. Spring rolls (5$) were essentially colonoscopy prep. So greasey that it made my poor booty hole explode. House fried rice (10$) lacked seasoning- except for salt, there was SO MUCH SALT- and then they put ham - of all things- in the mix. This probably cost less than a dollar to make, and maybe $1 worth of effort out into this dish. There were a few chunks of ham, a couple of baby shrimp- the size of a quarter- and a couple pieces of squid. Rather unpleasant. Unfortunately I would not recommend this dining establishment.

Mark W.

Yelp
Yikes. This is a huge avoid warning. The dishes are cheaply made and full of the cheap stuff. I had a beef lo mein which had a few measly pieces of beef and was essentially all noodle. And they charge an arm and a leg. It is not worth the price. The taste was just so-so. It was very disappointing and a huge rip off.

Casey A.

Yelp
Listen, is this the best Chinese food you'll ever have? Absolutely not. Do you sometimes have cravings for really "crappy" Chinese food? Yah, you do. It's not something we're proud of, but we do. Sometimes you want really fried, sweet, guilty food, and this is what this place is. There's a time and place for everything. I ordered from here over the holiday season when I really didn't want to cook. I got the salt and pepper wings (not super spicy but the wings were crispy so I appreciated that, just okay), house chow mein (honestly my biggest complaint is that the noodles were a little too soft but again it was meh fine), and the general tso chicken (great, crunchy, sweet). I also used my leftovers to just create more meals throughout the week. Prices are decent, food delivery was fast. Did I love it? Not really. But I'll probably order again, esp since they're open late.

Bonnie K.

Yelp
This is a review for take out food only delivered by GrubHub. 30. Mini Juicy Buns with Pork 19. Steamed Pork and Leek Dumplings 98. Flounder Filet in Mala Spicy Sauce MILD Dry Fried String Beans Dry Wok Cabbage w. Pork MILD 18. Steamed Vegetable Dumplings 32. Mini Juicy Buns with Pork and Shrimp Meat

Joseph K.

Yelp
I can't comment on the service or the ambience because I ordered from this place through Uber eats. The food was generally alright. The carrots in the hot and sour soup were a little too under cooked a think, they were an unwanted crunch in the soup but the broth itself was very nice. I got a spicy lamb dish that I cannot remember but there was a decent amount of meat to vegetables and sauce. I got on medium but I think I could have gone for more spice. The meat is a little fatty but I enjoy that though I know not everyone does. I got it on its own but I think if it was with fried rice or any rice really it would have been a little less salty and better. I may order from here again because it is relatively close if I am craving Chinese food, but will probably try some other restaurants first. I would order again but no strong craving to. I also got their dumplings but ate them all before remembering to take a picture. They were very good even with how long it took to deliver. They were not too soggy and had a good filling inside of them. The next time I might just order their variety of dumplings.

Sabrina P.

Yelp
Solid late-night option that we will definitely be returning to. We tried DK a few years back when they first opened and hadn't gone back since as we were neutral on the food. **Also, I'd like to point out that most of the 1-star reviews I've read came at the peak of the COVID shut down and I can only imagine what that was like for take-out Chinese Food businesses, so I wanted to give them another chance. This time around they exceeded our late night eats expectations. The price is right, the food was on point and they offer pickup deals.

Rosanne O.

Yelp
Great food! I really like this place and the pork buns are delicious. I don't understand the negative reviews at all.

Ness C.

Yelp
food was about 3.5 stars, but the service was marvelous. they're exclusively takeout, open 'til 2am, which is a RARE find in this part of beantown, and the delivery was super speedy. it got to my apartment maybe twenty minutes after ordering, which was absolutely brilliant. now onto the meal. it was mid. fine, relatively fresh for chinese takeout, but it really didn't taste like anything i couldn't have heated up from the grocery store, and it was kind of expensive for something with no white rice side or anything. i have no issue with it, just wasn't really that impressed. i got general tso's tofu and some edamame- the edamame was basic and kind of bland, but there was a good portion of it, and the tofu was alright. sweet and tangy as expected. i feel like i'm finding twenty different ways to say "nothing to write home about." however, i think if you're craving east asian takeout in the wee hours of the morning, the options are few and far between, so i'm giving them five stars out of fear that if i don't, the insane boston rents will kick them out of business.

Victoria M.

Yelp
Food was amazing besides the rice. The rice is so bad it's dry and no matter how much sauce or anything you put on it it will never taste good. It's pretty good when it comes to price you get a lot for your money. But the delivery was horrible I would recommend picking it up because my food was sitting on my porch for 20 minutes because I didn't get any notification or call saying they delivered it.

Julie G.

Yelp
I hardly ever write yelp reviews but I was compelled to after eating the most delicious meal I've had a long time at Dumpling Kitchen. The spring rolls were unlike any I've had before; they were flaky and crispy, not greasy at all. The crab rangoons were delicious, the mini juicy pork buns with pork and crabmeat were literally bursting with flavor and super juicy. The pinapple fried rice was again so flavorful. I kept saying to my husband these were some of the best dumplings I've ever had. Would 100% recommend!

Morgan L.

Yelp
Still 5 stars! I don't love their Sesame Chicken though. I wanted to branch out and try something new, and I've probably had most of their menu by now. I'd describe the Sesame Chicken as a much blander version of their General Gaus. Also, while I've had their scallion pancakes a few times and will probably have them again, they're just OK, I have certainly had better scallion pancakes. I ordered them recently for the first time in a while and I thought they were a bit soggy / the accompanying sauce wasn't as good as some other scallion pancake sauces. This is my go-to Chinese spot and will probably continue to be though. Not sure why they have so many low star reviews. I can honestly say that nobody makes better dumplings, and for that they remain in the 5 star category for me. I still haven't been here, I've driven past it but only ever ordered their food via Uber Eats. It looks very much like a takeout spot from the outside aesthetic.

Gauravi P.

Yelp
Well. I can't say I didn't give this place a shot. I definitely want to go to the doctors after eating here and get some shots... First off I would like to mention that we put in an online order and called in to see when we could pick it up and we were told that we would have to wait an hour. That was not a big deal for us because it was Saturday and during busy dinner time. However, I do with the online website told us ahead of time how long the wait would be or least after we ordered what to expect. If we had never called we would have never known! We ordered: 1.) Shanghai Noodles - 4 stars 2.) Kung Pao Chicken - 4 stars 3.) Chicken steamed dumplings - 2 stars 4.) Mini pork and crab juicy buns (soup dumplings)- 1 star 5.) Because our order was over $30 we received 2 free bubble teas - 3 stars The shanghai noodles and kung pao noodles were pretty good. Both dishes had a generous amount of vegetables and portions for an affordable price. The problem was with the dumplings. Please note that this establishment is called DUMPLING kitchen! The chicken steamed dumplings were very hard- definitely frozen and thawed to serve. The mini soup dumplings were leaking when we went to eat them and tasted very fishy- almost like something was spoilt. I have tasted many pork and crab soup dumplings and NEVER this suspiciously fishy. I just don't understand how a eatery that is named after dumplings had the worst dumplings ever. Very disappointing. Also, note to the owner- when your eatery has barely any seating inside it isn't a good idea to offer soup dumplings on your menu. They are very delicate and do not travel well. Most of your customers are set up with failure because a large percentage will most probably order take out. Also, the free tea is a lovely gesture but it's imperative to focus on making your star products, the dumplings, taste better. I'm sad I was so disappointed with this place. We just moved in nearby and really needed a new dumpling spot!

William B.

Yelp
Quite overpriced for what it is. Less than generous portions. Subpar, uninteresting, bland food. I gave them a second chance. Big mistake. Truly atrocious customer service. It seems almost like they go out of their way to ignore customer requests, even simple ones, like for condiments. I ordered what I anticipated would be a less than interesting noodle dish, so I asked for some Szechuan hot oil or sauce on the side. Instead I was treated to an argument about why they were unwilling to comply. Just asked for my money back and settled for leftover pizza. Avoid. With this level of customer unfriendliness, miserable cheapness, and questionable health standards, hopefully will not be around long. The neighborhood deserves better....

Yating W.

Yelp
I've visited the place twice. And the only reason why I gave it 2 stars is because the first experience was good. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken the first time from Grubhub and it tasted good. Today I order pickup for Picked cabbage fish soup. The entire dish is pretty much not edible. It has so many round peppers and those peppers make your tongue numb. I didn't eat any of the peppers. The soup and everything in it makes your tongue numb... Usually Chinese restaurants will deep fry these peppers so they don't have the numb taste. From looking at color of these peppers, clearly these peppers weren't deep fried or cooked properly. And they put so many peppers in it! Another thing that bothers me is that no one wears mask. I saw at least 3 staffs there and not a single mask :(

Ally K.

Yelp
Yall. I saw all the crazy reviews that oscillate between 1 star and 5 stars, and I had to put and end to the debate. I was not paid for this review or asked to make a review (since there were comments that suggested the higher ratings were fake). Also I never write reviews but the debate was intense and I'm currently sick of studying so here goes. It is exactly what you would expect -- takeout cusine. Ordered through Doordash at 1:30 am: what else is there at this time of the night? It's also freezing outside and I didn't want to leave the house. It's not high-end; it's not amazing; it's not fine dining. It's just normal takeout food that exists and warms me up. Yes, the rice tastes like takeout rice. But this isn't anything disgusting either -- it is good ol' late night takeout. I was so hungry and just wanted something to eat without waking people up... something with veggies and decent amount of nutrition. So I ordered braised tofu and their mixed veggies - they taste fine... and they came steaming hot. May I venture to say, it actually warms my soul on this 30 deg F night. Braised tofu is salty and sweet, and mixed veggies are a bit savory, rice is dry but, duh, pour in some of the veggie sauce to make it moist. Yeah, I don't think I'd get food poisoning from this (re: previous review). I don't know what was going on back then but this seems safe to eat. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. Hopefully this puts an end to the debate. Edit: eat it hot as it tastes and feels great to eat. Tastes a bit gross cold -- as most hot foods do. Maybe this is the source of the crazy rating discrepancies.

Cookie M.

Yelp
I was desperate for some Chinese food. I should have just went to bed. The noodles I got were slimy & hard at the same time. I didn't even eat it. Just tossed my money away. It did not smell good either. The crab Rangoons were okay. You get a bunch of them for your money but there was no dipping sauce for them. I was so disappointed with the veggie noodles, I didn't eat much. I was worried about getting sick.

Vivian H.

Yelp
Ordered through Ubereats. I wanted some cream cheese wontons and soup dumplings so I ordered from this restaurant on a whim. Right off the bat, the dumplings were flavorful but the vinegar sauce was a little bitter. I ended up eating the dumplings on their own but they were still delicious. The hot and sour soup was okay, it had a good amount of bamboo and tofu but tasted just like every other soup. The plum juice was definitely not my favorite. It was my fault for trying out a drink I've never had before, but it was not something I would get again. It wasn't sweet and reminded me of the aftertaste of barbecue sauce which was a little odd. I ended up not finishing it but it just wasn't up my ally. The cream cheese wontons were phenomenal though, they gave a hefty amount and the size of each wonton was completely filled with cream cheese. It was so good and filling, I had to give up after three pieces because it felt like a cream cheese overload (in a good way). Would order here again just for the wontons!

Anna F.

Yelp
Nice experience here. The woman behind the counter was sweet, and gave a couple of recommendations after we asked. We got the juicy pork dumplings (soup dumplings), which were quite tasty with the different sauces. Those were my favorite. We also got steamed pork cabbage dumplings. The soup dumplings are the way to go! My dining-mates like mushrooms, and got mushrooms with bok choy, and steamed rice on the side. It's nice to have the option to get crunchy baby bok choy.

Kevin L.

Yelp
This place is NOT THAT BAD. I'm not sure why there's only a 3 star rating. I came here on a late Monday night (like 2am) and debated on whether I'd get a shawarma or Chinese takeout. I'm sure many of you have the same dilemma. Give this place a try though and dont just go for your average kung pao chicken or orange chicken. There's more merit to this place than your standard Chinese takeout. They have some traditional dishes you would find at a actual Chinese restaurant. For instance, I got the peppered beef noodle soup and it was very tasty. Soup was in a different pint so the noodles dont get mushy. Speaking of noodles, the noodles were cooked for too long and arent fresh.

Sarah H.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible! I tried fried rice, dumplings, and scallion pancakes. The fried rice and dumplings were so bland and oily. I'm not sure how you mess up fried rice, but the rice was really hard and literally was tasteless. However, the scallion pancakes were pretty decent and was the only edible part of my order. Will never be eating here again!

Dev W.

Yelp
Worst boba I've ever had. They were a really weird texture and were falling apart. The tea was pretty good though. I liked the Mapo Tofu, just wish it came with rice.

Doug C.

Yelp
Why does this place have 2.5 stars? The food was really good. The service wasn't the best, but who cares when you need food at 2am. The XLB was surprisingly good and the beef chow fun was a bit oily but overall really tasty. I would def eat here again if I was from the area. Go try it.

Han L.

Yelp
I order here n then I cancel in minutes on ubereats app they then won't return my funds I was about go to the bank n disspute charges I ending go get the order my self it was $27.12 its a scamming business don't go there!!!!

Sweet4real C.

Yelp
Again another switch and bait. I'm not sure if I had a bad batch or if my order was discriminated against because it was a late order or being delivered to Boston but what a disgusting disappointment. Every thing was awful!...So sad. I work so hard each day and many times don't have the time to prepare a meal and when I spend close to a $100.00 on any cuisine, I had very high expectations, considering the rating current of this place on uber but I was blinded. I certainly regret it. It was absolutely disgusting. I hope you people at Dumpling Kitchen enjoys and shares my $$ wisely cause this is the late time you people see a penny of my money. Your food is is disgusting and a disappointment period. Don't even waste your funds on this place, there ate so many others that are 100% better.

Rongan C.

Yelp
Traditional Shanghainese food and the best soup dumplings in the city. We have ordered here twice now and the food comes according to our expressed liking (spicy level/no spice etc.) and comes warm, which is a huge plus in terms of delivery!!! Keep up the good work guys, 加油

Anna P.

Yelp
The communication is so bad. The website said if you order more than $30, you get 2 bubble tea (same thing on the in-store menu). Yet, they argued that the coupon expired on June 30. Only the "15% off online purchase" coupon expired on June 30, not the bubble tea coupon! If it really expired, fix the damn website and your menu please. I ordered more than I usually eat, just to excess $30 and get the free bubble tea. However, I have to say the food is not bad. I am just so mad at their customer service. Edit: The food today is not hot enough (if not cold), and too little sauce for my noodle.

Kylie V.

Yelp
If you are looking for a late night munch, definitely try the juicy buns and Singapore noodles. I order those 2 things every time and have always really liked them! The portions are quite large for the price that you pay. Only giving a 4/5 star because they could add a little more chicken to the noodle dish.

Cassandra L.

Yelp
Do not order the salt pepper pork chops. It's over cooked, tough like beef jerky. Horrible. Also it didn't come with white rice... unheard of.

Yelp
Promising menu. I admit I am happy that what was once Yummy Hut has resurfaced into a more interesting venue. Dumpling Kitchen does indeed have a lot of dumplings on their menu, but also a lot of Szechuan dishes. It is a small restaurant and while they have a couple of tables it seems to be take-out only for now. I was a bit disappointed, as dumplings will always be better fresh out of the kitchen. By the time I got home, my dumplings had cooled a bit and ended up a bit rubbery. Their flavor was good though. I also tried their Szechuan style fish. I'm not exactly sure what the dish is supposed to be exactly or if it is a different dish altogether, but it was a bit different from what I expected. Instead of being poached in chili oil, the solution was much more aqueous in nature, making it almost more of a soup. It also wasn't too spicy, and I counted only two Szechuan peppercorns. It wasn't bad though, just different. I'm definitely hoping to come back and try more. Their spicy beef noodle soup is next.

Yelp
Before Dumpling Kitchen, this use to be a "shitty American Chinese Restaurant". It seemed like it wasn't very long when the renovations were complete and they were opened - made me think that they just renamed the place and changed the menu a little, but I'm most likely wrong. Upon going in, I was surprised by the modern and Asian decor. It was very cute. We were greeted by 3 very kind Asian women. They had our order already ready for when we went in. (We had ordered online for 7:30PM Pick Up) Because they are new, we got two free bubble tea, though neither of us like bubble tea, it was very thoughtful of them. We ordered 2 Soup Dumplings aka "Mini Juicy Dumplings with Pork", Crab Rangoon, Scallion Pancakes and Vegetable Lo Mein. The Soup Dumplings were standard. They tasted just like the ones I buy from the Asian Market in the Frozen section, which is fine because those are good and I know it takes A LOT of work to make your own dumplings. Crab Rangoons and Scallion Pancakes were also pretty standard "American Chinese Food" style. Their Crab Rangoons had a unique flavor to them, but I liked them. Lastly, the Vegetable Lo Mein - they had different noodles. They were almost chewier, which I can dig and it had a "standard" taste to them. Overall, they had great customer service - the women there were all kind and friendly and the food was just OK - nothing impressed me, but nothing was bad. Though I'd consider this place an American Chinese Food place, I will fully admit I was impressed that they had Soup Dumplings on the menu, especially a variety of different types of dumplings rather than the standard "Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings" you see everywhere. I would say this place is a good mixture of American and Authentic Chinese Food. The restaurant is small with minimal to no seating. It is a very clean place when I went there though. There is street parking, which it being Highland Ave in Somerville can be tricky. Their Take-Out Menu is beautifully done and very clearly not cheaply made. If you want your stereotypical American Chinese Food, this is the place to go. I give my seal of approval.

Yelp
I'm embarrassed to disclose just how many times we've had Dumpling Kitchen...needless to say we are a reliable source for a review. This is our go-to when we're ordering food in. The dumplings are amazing and reliably so. The service is great the few times we've interacted with them (since we order online). Can't recommend enough!
