"It’s no secret that Dumpling Shack’s sheng jian bao are London’s most reliably tasty soup dumplings. Pan-fried for a crisp bite, packed with pork, and with a slurp of delicious broth, they tick all the boxes. But the other bits on Dumpling Shack’s menu—prawn-filled wontons drenched in electric chilli oil, a spring onion pancake that marries your softest and flakiest sweet pastry memories into something deliciously savoury—are also fantastic. This spot is in Old Spitalfields Market, so swing by, find yourself a place to perch, and get slurping." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna
"Dumpling Shack’s crispy spring onion pancake is a fantastic and flaky circle that should be dunked in their electric chilli oil with wild abandon. It’s one of our ultimate go-to savoury pancakes, and we usually head to their kitchen in Old Spitalfields Market to perch, slurp sheng jian bao dumplings, and invest in the ultimate onion party that is their pancakes." - heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna

"Dumpling Shack’s pancake is a fantastic and flaky circle of textures and onion that, looks-wise, resembles something that’s been formed and fried to exacting standards before, at the very last minute, being viciously battered with the ugly stick. It marries your softest and flakiest sweet pastry memories into something deliciously savoury that should absolutely be dunked in DS’s chilli oil." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
"Dumpling Shack is most famous for its sheng jian bao Shanghai dumplings. They’re grenade-sized fried soup dumplings, made fresh daily, filled with pork and a molten broth that only the foolish bite into without piercing beforehand. They won’t come back to bite you so much as boil you and a tub of their buzzing chilli oil on the side is essential as well. They’re also not the only reason to make a trip to Spitalfields Market. The prawn wontons in chilli oil are, depending on the day, sometimes even better." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing
