If you enjoy Dunkin' Donuts, you'll find exactly what you're looking for here This location offers all the standard favorites.
Let's address the less-than-perfect aspects first: the reason I didn't give this place five stars is that, as a local, I would often order through the app and then walk over to pick up my coffee. Some days, the lobby is open, while on others, I had to go through the drive-thru, and occasionally, I even picked up my drink from the back. While there may be valid reasons for this inconsistency, it can be a frustrating experience to encounter surprises before getting your coffee!
Now, onto the positives: the people here are truly amazing. Although some employees have come and gone, the core team has been such a joy to interact with. I saw them nearly every day for one reason or another, and I genuinely appreciated how they acknowledged me when I walked in. It created a small-town vibe in the heart of the big city.
If you live in the area, you're likely aware of the challenges faced by the homeless population, many of whom struggle with mental health issues. While other places might treat them as a problem, I've noticed that the employees here extend kindness through even the smallest gestures. One particular day, as closing time approached, I witnessed an erratic interaction with a homeless person who paused long enough to ask for water. This situation felt uncomfortable, but the employee, unfazed, kindly grabbed a cup of water and a donut hole to give to him. This simple act instantly calmed the man, and he left peacefully. It's hard to fully convey the nuance of this experience in writing, but I want to express that I've seen many businesses handle similar situations poorly. Here, however, they approach it with compassion and respect.
I've been coming to this Dunkin' since it opened (when Los Ponchos moved next door), and while I've only seen this kind of kindness a handful of times, those moments have touched me deeply and earned my admiration.
These experiences gradually drew me away from my local Starbucks to frequent this Dunkin'. Unfortunately, after nearly eight wonderful years in Hillcrest, I had to move to Northern California, and I will truly miss seeing everyone here. I wish them all the best. If there were a survey I could take or any accolades I could offer beyond this, I would be more than happy to do so.
No place is perfect, but I believe that you get what you give. If you come in with the right attitude and treat these amazing people with respect, you'll definitely be appreciated in return.
