Good pizzerias are getting harder to find as are pizzerias that have been around so long, that they are basically a landmark.
I moved to the general area in the late 70's and this place was there and my go-to pizzeria. I wasn't sure exactly how long they have been around until their box and menus did the work for me - it's been 50 years this actual year. That really says something as plenty of pizzerias have not lasted this long.
I haven't been here for many years - probably almost 2 decades - but inside generally looks the same with some minor cosmetic changes. It has the old school look of what a pizzeria is supposed to look like, but looks modern enough without appearing dated. There is a good enough drink selection and the items behind the glass look good.
The menu is pretty varied and deep, from pizza of course to dinners, which I personally have yet to try. Everyone's tastes or opinions on what a good slice is differs, but in here it's on the good side. Personally for me, it's not the "best pizza in Yonkers" - but again, everyone has different tastes. But if you like good pizza, then this is a place you should consider.
A major weakness for me here is they accept only cash. In a world when more people carry cards, this is not the best option. I ordered on a whim and didn't expect that, so I had to use the 3rd party ATM they had in there and it cost me an additional $2.50 just to pay for my order. I don't always have cash on me for whatever reason and if I'm passing by and wanting something from here and I don't have cash, I'd now know to pass it by for the next establishment that does take cards. I do know that I won't use a 3rd party ATM again, so I'll only think to come here if I have cash on me. Yes, a small thing, but it's also important to have options.
Staff that I encountered were friendly.
Street parking is metered in front on Yonkers Avenue, except on Sundays.
All in all, a nice place to eat in or take out. A good pizza option from a place that has history and one of the few places left with that history that is still left standing in the area.
