This Chinese tea house is a hidden gem in the East Village! A cozy spot with a natural interior, this is the perfect place to catch up with a friend or go for a solo, peaceful treat. Service here is great. When you arrive, you're given a basket of tea leaves and you get the choice to choose one or a couple of them to sample. All of them were so fragrant and there was a good variety of them of choose from. My friend and I got their sweets tea set with their milky oolong tea and both loved it. The sweets tea set came with melon, dried fruit, cookies, and a bruleed sweet potato. Everything was sweet, but not overwhelming—the perfect pairing for the milky oolong. It was so peaceful and the perfect spot to enjoy your tea while chatting with a friend!

Such a lovely place! The cake I ordered was perfectly balanced—not too sweet, with a clear, delightful scent of black tea. The jasmine tea was wonderful too. I think everything here is just perfect.

Their sweet potato itself already just nice for me, but for ones who have a super sweet tooth , their ice cream will definitely satisfy their craving . Their taro cheesecake taste really good combine with light whipped cream

Great great spot for fun matchas. I loved both the peach matcha and the biscoff hojicha. The taro matcha was good but not a strong taro flavor. The biscoff matcha/ hojicha came highly recommended by the staff (surprisingly) and it was actually really delicious if you’re in the mood for a dessert/milkshake vibes. Morning is too sweet. Everything is just perfect. Inside I’m super cute and tranquil. I loveeee the seat near the window. The staff are super nice !!!

The peach matcha was sooooo good!! Puree was fresh, not too sweet and not artificial. This place is so cute on the inside! About 6 tables, including a super adorable window seat. There’s also one table outside that gets some pretty perfect sunlight at 11am. Prices are good. Volume is good. Very solid delish matcha spot with unique twists & flavours!

Lovely, cozy space. It feels as if a small dessert spot was opened by a few friends-- The menus are hand drawn on brown paper bag material which brings a great deal of charm to the place. The staff were great in explaining the different teas and how to properly steep the tea using the ceramic set. The price for each item is steep, so it's a spot more suited for a date, or for 2-3 friends to split a very light snack. (Be warned that if you go later in the day, many of their desserts will be sold out!)

atmosphere was really nice! i loved the ceramics that came with everything. we ordered a pot of tie guanyin to share. we let it steep for 5 minutes, but it ended up being extremely watery. when we told the staff, they were really kind and accommodating and let us switch teas for free, so we switch to pu'er. the pu'er was decent, but i do wish there was more depth of flavor to the tea. you really only pay for atmosphere and the ceramics with the high price tag. maybe the food is good, but we didn't have the chance to try it. maybe next time :)

Very cute spot! We got the sweets and tea set and got the peach oolong with the black tea basque cheesecake. The inside is so cozy and was quiet on a Thursday around 5pm. Service was very attentive.

My niece wanted to try here. So we came to give it a try. Half the menu was sold out. Which is fine. But all that remains cheesecake selection and the set which mainly looked overprice for what was provided. It was a bit of a letdown and waste of my time. Such as tea, a fruit, small bites. Not worth it. We got tea. The tea was average and the cheesecake we got was nothing special. It was the hard dense type of cheesecake. It wasn't too sweet but besides that nothing that good. Came to try. Never coming back again. The service was decent. The ambiance had a clean simple look. I felt like coming here even though to hangout with friends.

Between my friend and I, we got an Osmanthus Taro Basque Cheesecake, the Caramelized Sweet Potato and the Milky Oolong, The cheesecake was not too sweet which was great! But it was really tough- not the oozy soft texture you'd want for a basque. It was also $15 for a slice so definitely pricier than I expected. The milky oolong tea was super fragrant, but we only got a few cups out of it which was disappointing. If Duo cafe was a bit cheaper, I'd frequent it more. Service was fast and the ambiance was vibey (although a bit loud).

VERY cute new tea house in the east village! i loved the caramelized yams the food: they say it's sweet potato but it's actually american yams (this was my only qualm but it was still very good), loved the texture. the hojicha mousse cake was okay but i liked the cookie crust! the drinks: loved the milky oolong. they let you smell the tea leaves before you order the space: so cute and serene the service: kind

I got the tea seat with snacks and opt'd with icecream and also upgraded from the cookie to the cake. We got the taro cake and enjoyed it a lot. We walked in on a Wednesday night and did not have to wait for a table. Very cozy interior and perfect spot for a date or catch up with a friend.

Cute Asian cafe in East Village that offers tea tastings as well as desserts (not too sweet)! Service is very friendly and the waiter refilled our tea pot multiple times with hot water throughout our experience. The cakes were also delicious and I thought the taro basque cake was unique. The matcha cake was good, too. The vibe is pretty rustic and minimal--the menu is handwritten on pieces of wrinkled paper and the inside of the space is small and cozy. I do think what they offer is quite overpriced for what they offer, but this cafe is still worth a visit because the products are quality.

Adorable tea house! It feels very warm and cozy inside, with a window seat and a row of small tables in a rather narrow hallway. When you look at the menu, they let you smell all the tea, which is a nice addition. The sweets and tea set is great for 2 people ($39). The lychee black tea was amazing, and the flavor really came out after the second steep. The caramelized sweet potato was delicious, definitely our favorite of the sweets. It was warm and sweet. The green tea cookie was tasty, and the combination of other desserts was unique and not too sweet. Overall, it's a great place to chat with a friend and enjoy a very beautiful tea experience. Be prepared for the prices, which is to be expected for a traditional Chinese tea house in East Village. The staff was very friendly. There is a bathroom, and laptops are allowed on weekdays before 5pm.

I wish there were more places like this in general. This is a super cute tea shop in East Village, and they have a great selection of teas and a $39 dessert and tea combination that seems to come with a great selection of sweets and fruits. I was here alone so I didn't want that many things, and they let me just order a single item from the menu. I had the peach oolong and the caramelized sweet potato. The oolong was perfect, light and fruity. The sweet potato was also really good with the crunchy melted sugar topping, mixed in with the vanilla ice cream. The best part is that they will give you hot water refills! This is a great place to catch up with girlfriends while enjoying some lovely desserts.

Super cute cafe offering Chinese style tea and delicious desserts. We came 30 mins before closing so my tea was not steeped long enough but I loved their new hojicha dessert. Definitely a cute spot to spill tea while drinking tea.

Absolutely adorable and ambient little tea shop. Everything was delicious and cute and thematic and unique! I really enjoyed all the desserts, the rosella sweets were sooo special and yummy. Nothing was too heavy either! The tea we had was super fragrant. A great place for a chat. The inside is very neutral and warm looking. They play some good ol' Chinese music throwbacks. The service was fast and wonderful and very considerate. Would definitely return and bring friends in tow. Great place for a hangout, and nice location too.

10/10 - the setup, the service and the noms are all so well thought out. There is a small tatami seat option in the window. The rest is 2-4 seaters along the interior. I love that there is such a good tea setup for you to look at prior to ordering. You can smell them and then order a pot of tea. They come and refill it for you too. My favorite part was the hojicha cheesecake and the osamanthus basque cheesecake. Both not too sweet and very fragrant. It was full so the noise was really quite overwhelming and overpowered the calm music but I would love to come back on a quieter day for sure.

We had a wonderful experience at a tea cafe that also serves delicious cakes. Upon arrival, the server provided us with two trays of tea leaves so that we could choose a flavor to our liking. Since we had just had dinner and were quite full, we decided to order a pot of tea to share and a taro cake a la carte. If you're looking for a complete experience, you can order a tea set to share instead. The taro cake complemented the milky oolong tea perfectly. Speaking of the tea, it smelled amazing and tasted even better. The service was prompt and helpful, which added to the overall pleasant experience.

We got the afternoon tea set. There were a variety of teas and cake slice to choose from. In my opinion, the tea and the cheese cake was good, the rest was just standard. The sweet potato looked so good but the taste was just average. It was a nice change from standard afternoon tea but it's a bit overhyped.

First time here cause one of the foodies tagged this spot in photo definitely very attractive Service 5/5 we didn't have wait on a Thursday afternoon few seats was available right away found menu was interesting, 100% handwritten 39+ 6 extra for cake upgrade tea was 4/5 tea pot design could be better, due to when the water is lower than 1/2 way it won't touch the leaves so tea won't have any taste unless it's 3-4 full, perhaps better tea pot? Entire setup was just ok, because i definitely expected more but i guess the price wasn't that high so it was ok for what i got. over all a cozy spot for chat and handout for bit, some cool tea times

Duo Cafe is a really cute tea house located in the East Village! I went around 3 PM on a Friday and it was mostly empty with plenty of open seating. There are maybe about 10 tables, and one tatami seating in the window. The window seat was taken when we went so we sat a regular table. It started to fill up later in the afternoon though and every table was full when we left. My friend and I opted for the Sweet and Tea Set and upgraded for a slice of cake. I liked that we were able to smell all of the teas before decided on one. We ended up picking the lychee black tea, but there were a lot that smelled good. The set came with a baked sweet potato, 2 clementines, dried candied hibiscus, almond? cookies, and we picked the marble mousse hojicha cake. The marble mousse hojicha cake was very smooth and creamy, with good flavor and not too sweet. The candied hibiscus was also good. The baked sweet potato came with a caramelized top, but it tasted like a regular sweet potato and came room temperature. The cookies also tasted good, but nothing special, and the clementines were just average. Overall, it is a really cute and fun place, however probably not worth the $50 as most of the items are prepared in advance. The portion size was good for a snack, but I didn't necessarily feel full afterwards. I will still return as it is a cute place to catch up with friends!

Duo Cafe is a pretty nice place with good vibes if you're on a date. If you take everything else into consideration, it's not that impressive. The cakes are okay, the teas are solid, the set menu isn't special (throws on a sweet potato and a mandarin orange), but the prices are quite steep.

I think disappointed doesn't even come close to what I have to say about Duo Cafe. My Black Tea Basque Cheesecake ($15) was dry and over baked. It was stiff with not even a hint of the creaminess that is usually associated with basque cheesecakes (and cheesecakes in general). I also ordered a pot of jasmine tea but the water was not hot enough to bloom the tea so the flavors were lacking. My two friends ordered a tea set to share and was disappointed to pay $39 for a Brulee baked sweet potato, a matcha white chocolate cookie, a few shortbread cookies (might have been prepackaged we don't know), two pieces or dried hibiscus and two tangerines. Their favorite of the tea set was the lychee black tea that they ordered. The desert and snack items themselves were lacking. The servers were nice and the atmosphere was quiet and serene. It would be nice place to sit quietly by yourself with a pot of tea or to have an intimate conversation with a friend but I would not come here for the desserts. And also keep in mind that a pot of tea averages about $15 per person.

I came here on a Wednesday afternoon for the afternoon tea set. The afternoon tea set had one choice of tea, bruleed sweet potato, persimmon, almond cookies, dried plums, and candy. I upgraded the matcha cookie to the black tea basque cheesecake for $6. The presentation was cute. I chose the peach oolong tea which was light and had great peach flavor. I really liked the sweet potato which I could tell was smoked. The persimmon was ripe and already sliced into sections. The cookies, plums, and candy were good. The cheesecake was cold and slimy so not a fan. Service was fast and friendly. However, for $45, I think there should be two choices of tea or no need to upgrade. The place was cute and I liked the tea so it's worth checking out. I would probably just get the tea next time.

Saw duo cafe on TikTok and wanted to come and try it! It's a super cute shop and I'll start off by saying that I did enjoy the cake themselves! We got the duo matcha and the marble mousse. Both were a good level of sweetness and had a good matcha and hojicha flavor respectively! I think the marble mousse cookie crust was speculoos. The interior is super cute as well, and they let you smell the tea before you order. I would give it 4 stars based on the vibes and the food alone! The main reason I'm docking 1 star is because of the wait/service. When we got there, there was a line inside and they have you write down your name and number but didn't really clarify if we needed to wait there or could leave. We waited for a bit and then asked for the wait time and they said 10-15 minutes so we decided to wait. After 20 minutes had passed, we went to ask again and they said they weren't sure how long the wait it would be and that we could leave and they'd call us. We went to a store nearby to kill time and another 20+ minutes passed and we received no phone call, so we decided to walk back. After we got back, we realized that a party that came after us (same size) was already seated even though they hadn't called us. The inside is really small so seating is limited so I understand that there would be a wait, but the wait wasn't worth it in my opinion, especially since they didn't call us like they said they would, so we had to wait even longer. They also didn't refill our water. If you get the sweet and tea set you can definitely spend a while here, but since we just got the cake we were only there for about 15-20 minutes so we waited for almost double the time we were there for. I would come back again because I enjoyed the dessert but I'll probably wait until the hype dies down.

We settled on the Lychee black tea which was nice and flavourful, and the Sweet & Tea set with the cake upgrade. Unfortunately as we were here later in the day the black tea basque cheesecake, and the green tea apricot mouse were sold out so we opted for the marble mousse cake which was still yummy. It's a nice chill place to meet friends or hang out with good service. It's a little expensive and you definitely need to go early if you have a specific cake you want to try before it sells out.

A no-frills tea spot with a simple layout and menu. Food items are hand written on near see-through paper and tea leaves are present in small jars to sniff for your selection. We had ordered an extra pot of tea since we weren't sure if one would suffice. We didn't opt for the extra cost for cake since we ordered the cakes separately. We enjoyed the slices but could do without the tea; both pots were almost flavorless and we were wondering if we were only drinking water. The tea set is a bit steep but I suppose it's about right with the likes of the local places around the area. The tea joint is trying hard to keep the establishment going so maybe it'll get better over time.

This new cafe is a tea house + cafe. Besides offering teas, they offers cakes, cookies and ice cream. You can also get tea for to-go. I tried their tea set, which includes a pot of tea, cookies, baked sweet potato, orange and I upgraded a snack to oolong basque cheesecake. I love their tea selections but for the price point, I expected more treats in the set (should have some savory bites). Also, basque cheesecake tasted good but the texture was a bit too dry for my liking. As for the interior/ decor, it feels tranquil. Perfect place for dating/ meeting with friends. It was 4.5/5 experience for me. I will be back to try more.

Kind of expensive for the food, so I guess you're really just paying for the experience. They let you smell the different teas before choosing one, and then you can choose desserts for your set. The matcha cake was very good, but the other desserts were just okay. The milk tea was interesting though, and definitely something I haven't seen before (they got the taste of both milk and tea but only into a tea leaf?? it's so crazy)

This is a serene and charming tea house. The food is yummy. The music is relaxing. The service is friendly, polite and super attentive. The price point is a tad high for the size of the desserts. My cheese cake slice was tiny and $18.00!! It is still worth the experience and it would be a nice first date spot or to meet your gal pals for a quiet conversation. (Also a good place to come alone to read a book or journal, in my humble opinion.) Worth a visit!

Came here on a cold snowy day! I decided to get the tea set that comes with desserts and fruits. It was $39 +$4 for the ice cream scoop and it came w a matcha cookie , 4 small cookies, 2 clementines, sweet potato (+$4 ice cream scoop) , and a pot of tea ( your choice of tea) . When we first sat down they gave us an assortment of teas to select from and smell! We ended up choosing the lychee black tea. We originally were planning to get one set each but saw the couple sitting next to us was sharing! I honestly think portion wise it was a good idea to share the set! My favorite part was the sweet potato with ice cream! Definitely a combination I wouldn't normally pair but it worked really well together! I also really enjoyed the matcha cookie! For the tea, the server comes to refill it with hot water and it was really good especially for a cold winter day! There's a lack of options to do in NYC in the winter in my opinion, mainly because I don't like to be in the outdoors for too long because it's just to cold! I think this place is perfect to go to catch up with a friend and not feel rushed as well as just by yourself! For pricing , I think it's priced well if split with a friend and it's overall a really cute experience! The staff was so sweet. The interior felt homey and I liked how it was somewhat small and decorated!

I came to this tea house to hang out with friends after dinner just to chat more. Usually I don't give bad reviews, however I felt this place is definitely overrated. We got two tea set for 3 and paid 120 for everything. The dessert was average and the amount was little for 120. The tea is not impressive either. However, I you are seeking only for pretty Instagram photos this place will do the work. We were not aware they only allow you to stay for 90 minutes during the weekend. ( even Friday night) So be aware if you want to hang out with friends a little bit longer better find somewhere else.

i bring everyone here for the clean space and tasty cakes. they open till 9pm so its nice to come after dinner in east village their pastry menu is on the wall which is sometimes hard to see and tea menu is on the same papery type. i appreciate the aesthetic. my main complaint is that the white tea pot has a filter that doesnt hit the bottom so the tea ends up being more watery that it should be the do use loose tea leaves which you can smell really cute set up though and you can even snag the spot by the window

Definitely a cute little tea shop located conveniently by the trains near St. Marks. Great date spot. Was not too packed on a weeknight and gets busier later into the night, but they did run out of some desserts by 5:30pm. The staff was helpful and attentive throughout the night. Everything is rather pricey ($18-$19 for a pot of tea!) Cake slices are about $14 each. I loved the matcha cake (sooo rich!) and the taro basque cheesecake (very unique) but I would have skipped the black tea cheesecake. Would likely return only for the ambiance and to hangout - not a place I'd frequent regularly.

I ordered the tea set and osmanthus cheesecake to share. I personally think it was mediocre, only ate the caramelized and tangerine. Decided to order osmanthus cheesecake and boy, oh boy it tasted plain, can't taste the osmanthus.

I chose White Peach Oolong Tea, which was very fragrant and of good quality. The tea my kids chose was also very good. My favorite dessert is the toro custard, which has a thin layer of slightly sweet taro puree on the bottom and a savory steamed egg (not too sweet) on top. Everything else is fine, not too sweet. You can open each tea and smell it before choosing your favorite. it's great! The environment is simple but clean, and the service is good. You can ask them to add more hot water, my suggestion is to add it twice, up to three times in addition to the first hot water. I am a Taiwanese who has been drinking tea since I was a child.

Calm and charming ambiance with great service and a fun selection of teas. I personally prefer slightly sweeter desserts but am so glad to have tried some different tastes!

This place offers variety of tea options, if you have not tried Chinese tea before, you must come and have a try! We ordered the dessert & tea set. Tea here is not bitter but has some special fragrance and sweetness. Their desserts are not too sweet and well match the taste of the tea. The environment is very quiet, decorations are very artistic. This is a good place for datings and having a good time with friends. I will definitely come here again.

i enjoyed my time here during a solo date so much! beautiful interior with great music (they place bossa nova, jazz, chinese classics...etc). i got the white peach oolong tea for 1 person and a sweet potato basque cheesecake. it was definitely a little pricey but you get what felt like unlimited refills of the tea, and the size of the cheesecake was actually really large and filling. the cheesecake was delicious and dense, while not being too sweet (perf for asian tastes haha). the flavor builds after each bite, so much that i actually started getting a little sick of it at the end, so i would say that it's better to share between 2 people! tea was soothing and balanced, i enjoyed it so there's no complaints there. service can be a little slow in the beginning bc they let you smell all the tea samples before you order, and it takes longer for the tea samples to circulate if the cafe is busy. overall i had a great experience and would definitely come again to try the tea and dessert set made for 2+ people!

I enjoyed my time and the ambience. But $20 for a pot of tea is unabashed highway robbery. I know tea. That price alone gets you a bag of loose leaf that makes 20-40 pots of Tie Guan Yin. $10 for a pot tea would be expensive in it's own right but $20 leaves a very bad aftertaste. I feel bad for folks who don't know tea and think that's the cost of good tea. Don't get the wool pulled over your eyes folks! The size of the cake was also smaller than what I had expected for the price. But tasty! My son paid for all of it so I can't complain.
