Google
Best tres leches ever! It's my new go-to for a quick party dessert that everyone raves over! Very friendly service with a massive selection of baked goods (cookies, breads, etc.).

I’ve come here a couple years for a trace Leche’s cake for my son‘s birthday. Got the regular they are to die for and this year we got a chocolate. It was just as good. They are able to customize the top 45 bucks for a small Which let me tell you Phide about 20 people stop going to your regular grocery store bakeries. This place is absolutely spectacular and some of the best cake I’ve ever had actually authentic and delicious. If you like the fruit on top, they may get absolutely beautiful too. We didn’t put the fruit on the chocolate one, but let me tell you it was great I’ll attach a picture of his birthday cake. I was even able to get the candles there too, which was a great convenience and they decorated it for me right as I came ordered two days in advance and it was ready no problem. check out this hidden jam in the heart of Northeast Minneapolis.! I had my infant with me and my six-year-old they even offered to carry the cake out to the car since I didn’t have any hands that was a huge win love love love this place❤️

Google
They have one of the best tres leches cake and it’s a must try. I loved the price points they have. $40 for a large cake is a lovely deal. They even have other bakery items and it’s a must try place. I loved the cheese cake they have. Service was good. Ambiance is not great and it’s not a place where you can sit and eat. It’s mainly a grab and go.

They were able to make a rush order for a tres leche cake that served 40+ people the same day I placed the order. Nice people and great service.

Google
Wonderful service, prices and amazing AUTHENTIC flan! Went next door, to the "fancier" Mexican restaurant and also ordered their flan to compare the two... Not only was the price difference unbelievable (2.75 at Durango to a whopping $8 at said restaurant) but the taste was simply uncomparable. Durango's was sweet, spongy, and melted in my mouth, while the restaurants took 15minutes, had overripe raspberries thrown on top, an uncomplimnetary "Sherry sauce" over that, and the consistency more like a soggy pudding than that of a quality, fluffy flan. The Bakery's portion was three times the size and less than half the price! I mean, come on here!!! For my first time trying this lovely little gem out, I can't wait to get back and see what other treats I've yet to discover! Thanks to Durango Bakery and their staff for the service, quality, and price that's such a rarity to find! TEN stars from this happy customer! Keep up the great work!! Stephanie

I had called twice to make sure this was the right place to order my food for my friend. I don’t speak Spanish but the person I spoke to spoke English so that was ok. When I was ready to order the person who answered did not speak English well enough for me to talk to them. I thought they said they were getting someone who spoke English and they hung up. I called again and what I gathered is that they don’t want to preorder the tres leches slices and conchas because it wasn’t a big enough order. I tried calling a third time because I needed to preorder for several reasons. One because I needed these to be labeled pineapple allergy and another because I am not picking them up I needed to pay now. I tried a translator app and spoke using the small Spanish skills I know. Looking back this was a bad idea. The person I had been talking to put the phone down and got someone else who started yelling at me. She asked if I spoke French or something which I don't I tried to speak to her in English but she didn't seem to understand me. I was trying to order and at the point, she yelled do you speak English while I was trying to order in English was the point I said that was all goodbye and hung up. I cannot believe a company would treat customers this way. I understand that we were having language difficulties and perhaps if I had not had such a good experience with the other employee I would have given up sooner. Again, I know they were having language issues and I don’t mean to be culturally insensitive but if some of your customers are going to be speaking English I think they should be able to talk to them without hanging up or yelling.

Google
We’ve been coming here for the amazing baked goods for a year now and we (and everyone else we share the treats with) have loved everything we’ve tried! Just recently put in a very last minute order for a tres leches birthday cake and not only were they able to fill the order, but the cake was absolutely amazing! Also great service and great prices. Definitely recommend if you are anywhere in the area!

Yelp
9/10 - This panaderia in the Twin Cities is absolutely one of my favorites! The selection may not be huge, but let me tell you, they prioritize quality over quantity! I got a variety of their mouthwatering baked goods and oh boy, they were all bursting with delicious flavors! However, I must admit that a few of the cookies were a tad dry. But hey, if you're into that, go ahead and load up on cookies! What sets this place apart is that their baked goods aren't overly sweet. I know you're curious about the price, so here's the scoop: everything you see in the picture cost me under $10 when I snapped it 5 months ago. I'd give this place a solid 10/10 for its top-notch quality and affordability. The only reason it's a 9/10 is because of those dry cookies. But the welcoming and friendly service definitely makes up for those cookies ! Oh, and did I mention they also have cakes and other delicious baked treats? I'm definitely planning to swing by again soon to indulge in some tres leches!

Yelp
Got a couple different cookies after having lunch next door. I love panaderias but with several other options in the area this one was not my favorite.

Yelp
The cake I have loved for years has changed. It was more moist, more chocolatey, much darker in color. Not nearly as good but still as expensive. I am heartbroken. I will not be back. Especially with the employees not knowing what I wanted to order on my first attempt at ordering. Should've taken that as a sign. :(

Yelp
If you're looking for a good Mexican bakery in NE, look no further. This bakery offers Mexican and Ecuadorian bread. My personal favorites are the conchas. My second favorites are the empanadas, they are not overpoweringly sweet-- they're just right. The location is small, clean and with lots of variety. Prices are unbeatable. Service is friendly and cakes are delicious. All bread is freshly baked daily. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

Yelp
My first visit here and it won't be my last! Every year for my mom's birthday, we visit her favorite Patisserie restaurant to enjoy Tres Leches cake, my mom's favorite. Being that this year in 2020 we are in amidst a Pandemic we were saddened that we weren't able to to that year. Thanks to Yelp I'm so happy to find this amazing bakery! At Durango Bakery, Tres Leches cake is sold by the slice! Very friendly and helpful staff. They wrote Happy Birthday on my mom's slice when I asked. There are variations of the Tres Leches cake, too which appreciated. You get a choice of strawberry or peach filling. My mom loves strawberry but I am allergic to strawberry. So I bought one of each! The peach was super yummy! Oh...and my mom loved her strawberry Birthday Tres Leches cake! Thank you for helping make my mom's Birthday special. I can't wait to come back to try other yummy baked goods here

Yelp
Looked up the nearest panaderia near me and we rushed over to Durango to fulfill my cravings. Only reason for the 4 stars is due to the fact that we had hoped to devour my favorite pan - (Elotes) but they did not have any. My heart was crushed and had to settle for a different pan. Overall, they have quite a selection. Just happens that the day I went they didn't have the one I wanted. They also have cakes and things.. Support your local Panaderia.

Yelp
Delicious pastries, the best Tres leches cake ive ever had. Great service and selection

Yelp
I bought a "Tres Leches" cake and other baked goods such as bread and conchas. I loved it! I called in the morning and they had it ready before noon. It was quick and easy and they were nice and conversational. Also, good prices. Beware that parking might be a little confusing. You can park on the street out front or out back and come through the back entrance, they were very cool. I recommend as the it was delicious and a reasonable price. Note: I spoke to them in Spanish, I didn't try to speak to them in English. FYI, if you're not a Spanish speaker. Compré un tres leches y unas conchas, churros, y pan. Buen servicio y amables. Puedes entrar por adelante o estacionar atrás. Yo fui atrás, estaba un poco confundído pero me dejaron entrar por la puerta de la cocina y el resto fue historia. Muy buen lugar para tortas y pan.

Yelp
This is our neighborhood Mexican bakery that has all the goodies you'd want!! Empanadas, coches, churros, croissants, cookies, breads, and pound cake! We love to splurge and grab sweets after grabbing tacos at El Riendo Taco! Today we got our first Tres Leches birthday cake and it was absolutely THE BOMB!!! Wow so rich and tasty, but not ridiculously sweet. Light whipped cream and a little fruit cocktail in the filling, with fruit on top. Over the top! Happy wife makes a happy family. She loved it. There you go guys! Get a cake from here on your lady's next birthday!!
google avatar

Yelp
Always fresh and delicious!!! The conchas are the best! I've recommended this place to friends who are looking for a Tres Leches cake.

Yelp
This is a fantastic bakery. They have wonderful baked goods. Unfortunately, I don't know a single name for a baked good here, or at any panaderia, for that matter! They have one that's like a cone with custard in it, that's a good one. They also have a pastry that has chocolate in it, and it's rectangular and has openings in the top that look like the lines we used to cut in our jeans in the 80s. If you see those, you should just buy a bunch of them. They're the best. I have enjoyed all of the baked goods I've gotten here. I wish that I have tried more of them! I will definitely need to work on that. That's my new year's resolution: buy more pastries from Durango.

Yelp
This is one of those places in Northeast that (for no particular reason) I never made it to until recently--and I am now wishing I hadn't waited so long to stop in! So far, I have tried and enjoyed their bread products such as bolillo, telera, wheat rolls, and croissants (large and small), along with their sweets such as conchas (excellent!), churros, donuts, molasses cookies, polvorones (tri-color cookies), M&M cookies, and more! Durango is a traditional Mexican bakery, which is great--it compares favorably to other panaderias I've bee the prices really are incredibly reasonable. So far, the selection has really varied each time I've been there, and be warned that there are no labels, as others have said. If you're relatively familiar with Mexican bakeries, you'll be just fine. The staff have been super helpful and willing to answer questions, which is great. COVID precautions have been good at the times I've visited, too. Not everything I've purchased has tasted the freshest/top quality, but I have gone exclusively at different times during the latter half of the day, since Durango is open later (yay!) than any other bakery I'm aware of in NE/SE Minneapolis. I'm looking forward to trying the tres leches cake, the fruit empanadas, and some of their other specialties in the future!

Yelp
Stopped in yesterday morning to grab a couple treats. They had a rack out of the warm freshly baked items and the staff member was very helpful in making our selections. I tried a pineapple cheese stuffed pastry. I honestly didn't think those flavors would go well together, but always am up for trying new things. This was a homerun. The cheese was light and fluffy just like the bread surrounding it. We also grabbed another large cheese stuffed item and that was just as good if not better. For $2.50 we got 2 very large items that were both amazing, and that's tough to beat!
google avatar

Perry S.

Yelp
Every year on our son's birthday we order Tres Leche Cake (his favorite) from Durango. We've not had better anywhere in the Metro. They also have a nice array of traditional Mexican bakery items, none of which are sweet by American standards, which is fine by me.

Yelp
Whoa. Ok so, wandering out of El Taco Riendo around 8:30, my husband and I strolled by this place. There were people inside, even though they supposedly close at 5. He pauses and says to me "Do you want to go in there? I'll buy you whatever you want." BINGO. Walking into the small store, I'm immediately hit with the smell of fresh baked pastries. As I look over all of the different varieties, I notice I don't see anything over a dollar. Whaaaaat. The hubs grabs a platter and some tongs and we start loading it up. Bavarian cream filled croissant. Guava and strawberry filled triangle thingies with sugar. A big cheese danish type thing. A couple other things and our total came to $6ish. Crazy. We brought them home and destroyed them. So good. We'll be back.
google avatar

Melissa A.

Yelp
Just ate El Taco Riendo and need a little treat afterwards? Pop on over to Durango Bakery next door. You will easily find it because it will smell like the most glorious of scents your nostrils have ever smelled. Do you need a cake for a special occassion? This place has such beautiful cakes that I am sure taste just as good as they look. Head on in and you will receive a pan and some tongs. Fill up your tray with all the tasty dough-y treats. Be sure to try the empanadas con pina queso....so good. The bread is so soft with just enough sweetness inside. They have all kinds of goodies including conchas, tres leches, cream filled sugary goodness. I have been in during the daytime and also late night before and they have plenty at any time you go. The cashiers are always pleasant and helpful.

Yelp
This place smells sooo good, right from the moment you opened the door! The prices are pretty cheap here, probably averages around $1/item. I got 4 different kinds (conchas, rectangle-shaped one that's filled with cream cheese, a moon-shaped one with the same topping as concha + sesame seeds, another moon-shaped one filled with Bavarian cream) for a bit under $4. I obviously don't remember a lot of the names haha. My favorite is definitely the one filled with cream cheese - it's light and fluffy. The cream cheese isn't entirely just sweet, but have a slight savory taste to it as well. The other three was decent but I will go for other ones next time. The only thing is they only stay good for like maybe one more day - two would be pushing it already. I suspect maybe the ones I bought have been on the shelf for a bit. Would love to know when the fresh batches come out :)
google avatar

Charlie K.

Yelp
Super friendly staff and yummy affordable treats! As someone who is not knowledgeable about pastries and such though, I would have appreciated clearer signage/descriptions next to each item
google avatar

Trina P.

Yelp
This bakery is great and consistent! We always order the tres leches cake for celebrations at my office. I believe it has been about 5 cakes now .They are always friendly and have the cake ready on time! You won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Sam M.

Yelp
Conchas I wanted and Conchas I got. They have a lot of nice pastries here, but I like the simple ones. A concha is a light sweet bread (pan dulce) with a subtle sugar topping (dextrose?) All I know I love them. And the ones here are first rate. Add a helpful friendly staff and we have a winner. I also got a wheat roll with feta inside. Very interesting side for my red lentil soup I made today.
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
Inexpensive, friendly, TASTY AS ALL GET OUT, and open on Sunday morning when the rest of the bakeries in Northeast are taking the day off. Grab tongs and a platter and go to town. Definitely agree with another reviewer that you feel a bit bad for how cheap it all is... but not too bad! I got a huge platter's worth of conchas, empanadas, pan el queso, and croissants for $6. Madness! Can't wait to go back - this is my new go-to bakery.
google avatar

Ella B.

Yelp
I looked up bakeries near me and found Durango and wow all the reviews were amazing so I thought I would try it out. It's quaint- free parking in the back or you can opt for street. Amazing selection! I went a little crazy and filled my plate with all sorts of sweets:) came home and my taste buds were thrilled! I love this place!
google avatar

Rick L.

Yelp
Durango has great tasting bakery items. Available items vary each since they are a small bakery with limited display space. The cookies and tres leche type deserts are popular at work meetings.
google avatar

Jen J.

Yelp
I have no idea what I had, some kind of fruit bread/cake out of the cooler, but it was delicious
google avatar

Justin C.

Yelp
The prices are so low you may feel bad. Today we bought an entire bag of goodies and 2 pieces of cake for under 10 bucks - 9 total items.
google avatar

Marianna G.

Yelp
Damn. I thought about writing this review and now all I want is cookies. I'll try to write coherent sentences through my insatiable desire for some Durango treats right now. First off, the only thing you need to know: MANY MANY YUMS FOR VERY VERY CHEAP. This place is so good. From cookies and sweet empanadas to donuts and cakes, Durango totally has you covered for any sweet you might need. Tres leches cake? Got it. Delicious. No problem. Cookies? Chocolate chip, elephant ears, crumbly perfection. They also have an awesome selection of Mexican treats, the names of which always evade me. BUT, they're so good. They have the little cakes with powdered sugar and cream-puff thingys (a technical term), and they always taste fresh and baked just as they should be. The best part about Durango is that it is way inexpensive for what you get AND you're supporting a sweet local business with friendly staff and awesome products. They have some staples (chocolate-chip cookies) and also leave some too for exploration beyond typical Minnesota-bakery fare. Tip: free parking in the back. You enter through the kitchen, I think, but it's cool. They don't mind. (Or you can be like me and be super embarrassed to enter that way so you just walk halfway around the block to the front. That works, too.)
google avatar

Kara R.

Yelp
Soft, good, but flavor could be richer. Very nice customer service, but when we walked in, all I could smell was cleaning solution. If the adjust some of thing things, def could be 4 Star.
google avatar

Mon P.

Yelp
It smells so good in here.. the fresh baked bakeries. The pies, the cookies, the puff pastries, and the whatever they are that have just been brought out from the ovens. It's yummy goodness! :)
google avatar

Jordan E.

Yelp
Definitely a hole in the wall little bakery but very authentic feeling and really nice customer service. My girlfriend and I didn't necessarily know what all the different pastries were, and the man working there gave us a good description and recommendations based on our taste. Very affordable as well.
google avatar

Cyntia V.

Yelp
I called two days prior for a birthday cake. I had my BF pick up a birthday cake for my little brother. I've chose the tres leches cake and it did not turn out nothing like I thought it would. The cake was too moist, the milk was dripping out from the cake. Tasted OK... after a couple bites. But not something you would want to go back for seconds or anything like that. And then on top of that the cake was POORLY decorated. Not even exaggerating- the way they even spelt out happy birthday was like a child decorated this cake... birthday was not even spelt out correctly it said "birrdoy"..I feel so bad for even writing this review but come on.. at least spell "birthday" right. But ig you get what you pay for and pictures from the website surely did not look like that in person. It was poorly packaged & it was leaking everywhere. If something doesn't look too appetizing the crowds won't even bother giving it a try. I didnt even want to take a picture because it was not appealing to the eye.
google avatar

Kristin A.

Yelp
I came early in the morning to pick up pastries for co-workers. Not a lot of variety when I was there, but the bakers were busy in the kitchen, so I'm sure they were making some delicious items! The pastries I took to work were a bit dry and some rather bland, but the tres leches cake was perfection. Also can't beat these prices!

Rick B.

Yelp
I wanted to get a different kind of cake for a birthday and they offered different sizes of Tres Leche cake. The cake was outstanding. Loved it. Cake was also ready when promised.
google avatar

Norm W.

Yelp
I am in NE a lot since most of my family lives in this neighborhood. We were over at Taco Riendo eating lunch when I decided to give this place a try. After lunch we came by to check it out and get some post lunch treats. This place has a nice selection of baked goods with the highlight being their sweet treats. I did order some of their flatter bread, and croissants which were also great! Best feature of this place is how cheap it is. I got a whole bag of goodies for only $4.
google avatar

Larry Y.

Yelp
The best panderia in Minnesota, maybe the best east of the Mississippi. Their Baker knows what he is doing. All the favorites
google avatar

Hayley B.

Yelp
Yummy!!!! The staff here is friendly, and it is delicious! Well priced too! Don't miss this gem :)
google avatar

Susan W.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Empanadas are stupendous. Prices amazing. Cakes gorgeous. Like something your Mama would make. Need 10 stars for this place.
google avatar

Katie T.

Yelp
Really, really cheap prices, which is amazing in itself. Grab a tray and go for whatever you want! We tried a few types of empanadas ($1 each) and they were simple and fairly tasty. The apple didn't seem very fresh and a bit too syrup-y. The other pastries we got seemed not to be incredibly fresh but perhaps that's because we got there at 12 on a Sunday! Good selection and friendly people, though!
google avatar

Irene D.

Yelp
I love living in Windom Park and great local businesses are a big reason why! Durango Bakery is my go-to for picking up baked treats for Sunday breakfast or evening tea. I am a huge fan of their Palmeras (or their French name, Palmiers). The puff pastry is crisp, but just a little chewy with caramelized sugar. A big treat is during October is getting a big loaf of Pan de Muerto (a similar version called a Gallina is available sometimes), soft, enriched orange-scented sweet bread that is great with a cup of tea. Their churros are also an occasional treat! This place is a gem!
google avatar

Anna A.

Yelp
This review pertains to cakes. The cakes taste like chemicals, but I suppose the curse of being a good baker is thinking that *most* store-bought cakes suck. My husband's (Salvadoran/Ecuadorian) family buys these cakes often for parties, so obviously some people do like them. However, I am a bit of a food snob (and DEFINITELY a cake snob) and the cakes here, while pretty, taste fake and really are not good.
google avatar

Haleigh D.

Yelp
The most inexpensive bakery I've ever been to-and equally delicious. A great experience.
google avatar

Adam H.

Yelp
Good and inexpensive bakery. Have tried almost every item here, and have figured out the best bakery items to stick to: #1 the cream filled puff pastries (most popular item there), and #2 the fruit filled empanadas. Tres leches cake was mediocre, and other pastries were mostly dissapointing... I wish I could figure out what the best time to get the items oven fresh.

G S.

Yelp
This bakery is awesome! Prices are extremely reasonable, and there is a huge selection of pastries! We tried a huge sample of pastries and everything was delicious! Cream filled, fruit filled, chocolate, guava! Fresh churros and bread. There were honestly so many options I will be coming back for sure! Definitely check this place out.

Megan E.

Yelp
We moved into the neighborhood about a week ago and have been back twice... The quality and taste of everything from Durango is excellent! We tried cookies, croissants, turnovers, cheese danishes, and the mango filled sweets. Everything was delicious! I highly recommend stopping in here because fancy donuts are so 2012.

Anna K.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I were walking down Central Ave. one evening, and saw this bakery we've never noticed before. We went inside, and holy moly, we were floored! Sooo many different baked goods, and the shelves were really well stocked for being the end of the day. The prices were crazy good, so we were able to get quite a bit of goodies. I don't have a sweet tooth very often so I stuck with breads, and my girlfriend got a good variety of sweets.
