The Best Restaurants On Melrose Avenue

"If you do a meal at this northern Mexican spot right, you'll end up with a table of Flinstonian-sized entrees. There's a lamb shank dish that's well worth its $46 price tag—it's braised in salsa roja until the meat falls apart. Beef ribs come in a sticky chipotle glaze and there are Jurassic-sized bone marrow tacos. If you don’t want to commit to a full meal though, just do what everyone else is doing and pop in for a quick margarita and some queso fundido before getting back to your Melrose shopping spree. " - brant cox

The 18 Best Deals for Dine LA Restaurant Week, Fall 2023 - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The Deal: $45 per person for dinner, details TBA.  Why We Like It: If you come to Durango Cantina in Beverly Grove for a tequila cocktail and guac, you’ll probably walk out spending less than $45. But the northern Mexican food is good enough to warrant a full meal. Consider the Dine LA deal a good opportunity to do just that. (Normally, the braised meat entrees start at $32.)" - Brant Cox, Garrett Snyder, Sylvio Martins

Durango Cantina - Review - Beverly Grove - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Given its neighboring vape shops and streetwear brands on Melrose, this northern Mexican spot with saloon doors looks a little out of place. But, inside, the Beverly Grove crowd is just what you'd expect: 20-somethings in low-rise jeans drinking margaritas and snacking on queso fundido next to decorative cow skulls. Don't be like the low-rise jean people. This restaurant serves braised meats and thick flour tortillas that are soft like satin, and the menu is worth exploring way beyond the tequila cocktails someone might drink absent-mindedly after shopping for vintage cargo pants. If you do the meal right, you'll end up with a table of Flinstonian-sized entrees. There's a lamb shank dish that's well worth its $46 price tag—it's braised in salsa roja until the meat falls apart. Beef ribs come in a sticky chipotle glaze that's equal parts smoky and Jurassic-sized bone marrow tacos require you to scoop out the fatty good stuff from the bone onto a warm tortilla covered in melted cheese. These are our favorite things Durango Cantina makes. The chunks of grilled asada on top balance the fat, creating a buttery (admittedly hefty) bite. While you may have passed this Mexican place 100 times without thinking twice, Durango is almost better off because of its out-of-place surroundings. So go ahead, stop in for a very good prickly pear tequila cocktail. Just don't stick to queso for dinner. Get a full meal." - Sylvio Martins

The Biggest LA Restaurant Openings to Know in 2023 - Eater LA

"A few days before May began, Durango Cantina opened on April 28 blocks away from Fairfax High School. It’s the work of former Bee Taqueria alum, chef Alex Currasco. His menu takes cues from the Mexican state of Durango between Sinaloa and Monterrey. Think guacamole, fundido, and albondigas to share, along with taquitos, flautas, salads, and cocteles, and aguachiles. Currasco also prepares chipotle-glazed beef ribs, grilled carne asada, and a six-hour braised lamb shank that’s traditionally shared during a Durango wedding feast. Cocktails include some classics with margaritas, micheladas, palomas, and a revolving menu of new cocktails in Durango Cantina’s rustic dining room." - Eater Staff

We really like it here! Everything on the menu is just excellent. Very flavorful with decent portions. The staff is always very accommodating. John was our server this time and he was perfection. We absolutely love coming here to play pool. It’s a beautiful restaurant And a great location. We will definitely be back!

My friend and I wanted to try Durango Cantina for my last day in LA. We ordered some items including the beef ribs, bone marrow tacos and more! I loved the bone marrow tacos and the guacamole with rice crackers as one of my faves! This is a great spot in Fairfax to check out! I'm having a great experience! I love how the decor inside Durango Cantina includes some of the props like the Game Center! I have to give the props to the staff for being so friendly to us by introducing the dishes and describing them.

Google
We went to Durango Cantina for drinks and dinner before watching a play next door. The atmosphere was perfect—mood lighting, laidback, not noisy. The staff was lovely. They were more than helpful. They chatted with us but not intrusively. We even got a round of tequila shots for free! The food...totally worth it. They have the best guacamole ever. Not only was the presentation beautiful, the flavor is unparalleled. They had this unique rice paper with nori (seaweed) that came with the nacho chips. I loved it, though the more traditional chips were better. The tacos were served over cups of broth—novel, and it brought the food to new heights. The meat sampler was HUGE, and the flavors were just...*chef's kiss* I brought leftovers home, and had enough for two more meals!

Google
A really great spot to eat along Melrose Avenue! The inside of the bar felt a bit like a sports bar and if you sit outside it’s a nice view. I loved that the menu had vegan and vegetarian options, as well as creative menu items. The potato taquitos were amazing!

Google
Such a wonderful spot to grab some lunch or dinner right in the heart of the Melrose Arts District. I’ve gone many times and love it! Also their events on the weekends are really epic! The whole place converts into an awesome night life center with good vibes and people to hang out with!

Google
I was excited to try this place, the vibes and the decoration is really nice, but as someone who grew up in Mexico I was expecting more with the food, don’t get me wrong, the presentation of the plates was really nice! but the flavor didn’t convince me that much and the day I went it wasn’t even that busy but they still took long to take the food to the table, it also seemed that the people that was there was only the regulars and they would get a faster service, the experience could be better.

Google
Very enjoyable experience! Service, appetizers, entrees and drinks were all a hit. The manager was very friendly and had great suggestions from the menu. We had a table of 7 and the service was outstanding and all the food came out piping hot. Worth going out of your way <3

Google
Beautiful ambiance and decor and very nice staff. There's a pool table and TVs in a very large space. Right next door to the Matrix Theatre. They have happy hour and Taco Tuesday but we were there on a Monday evening around 7.

Yelp
This bar restaurant is a really cool spot. Inside is a well done trendy western aesthetic, which I liked a lot. Parking could be difficult, but we found street parking pretty easily. We came during happy hour and I tried the Pricky Pear Margarita and the Spicy Mango Margarita which were both very good and strong. My favorite was the spicy mango. I also ordered chicken tacos which were very simple and delicious, they packed the tacos with chicken. The chicken nachos were good. The chips for our chips and salsa were a bit stale. Service was good and I enjoyed the ambiance here. I would definitely come back for happy hour again.

Yelp
I went to this place on Melrose. It was cute and had a nice seating area! It was vibes with a pool table and spacious as well. The bar tender was nice and friendly. You order at the bar and pick wherever to sit. I just ordered a soda and Durango nachos with chicken. Tell me why they took forever making my nachos and they turned out to be not that good. The cheese was not melty like your traditional nachos and the beans were placed at the bottom of the chips. I barely found out that there were beans after eating all the chips. I was hungry and the nachos were expensive so I had to eat what I can. I peeled away the big blob of cheese that was inedible and hard and the protein I ordered stuck to it so that was a waste. I just ate what I can.

Yelp
From the exterior I thought this was a take out type place but I was totally off! The interior was absolutely adorable and spacious. We stopped by around 2pm and the place was empty. I was really impressed on how cute the restaurant was. There was a pool table, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and some large screens to watch the game. They have a well priced happy hour menu from noon to 6. My spicy skinny Margarita was delicious, it was actually legit spicy! We also tried the guacamole which was good. I'd love to go back to try a few of their other dishes. Parking was easy during the day but this is not the best area for parking at night. Make sure to read the street signs if they don't have valet.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Monday afternoon for a couple of happy hour drinks and some chips and guacamole. We found the restaurant to be cute inside and the spicy margaritas were very good. My wife got a skinny spicy margarita and that was tasty as well. They do a happy hour on weekdays from noon until 6, so if you're in melrose and wanting a cocktail, you should stop in for a drink. Our waiter/ bartender was very nice, and he definitely knew how to make a properly spicy margarita

Yelp
A friend convinced me to go with her to try this place after she saw a post on social media. After a rush hour commute to West Hollywood and a little more driving around looking for parking, I arrived to a very pleasant and warm welcome by the hostess out front. We had our choice of seating as we had made early plans which we chose indoors, but with a view of the cars and people on Melrose. You just never know what you'll encounter on the streets of West Hollywood. We didn't want to sit outdoors though because someone, somewhere was smoking (not cigarettes) and that just doesn't go well with my palette. Service started out great on arrival and continued on with our server. She too was warm, attentive and personable. We followed her lead on a few suggestions not just with the food, but the drink selections as well. Which were both great! See pics. From the presentation, to the flavors and mix of ingredients - it just hit the spot. And it was a fun spot to boot. TV's, pinball machine and a pool table.

Yelp
Stopped by for some drinks and of course football. Kept it simple and ordered mimosas but for food we did the guac which was good, the chicken flautas and the beef quesadilla all were from the Apperativos menu. Also ordered the 1/2 roasted chicken but needed to send that back because it definitely needed some more cooking. Everyone was kind to ask if we needed or wanted a different item from the menu but we had enough. I can see they were short-staff some items did take longer than other and even the drinks did take some time. It's football season everyone is out and about. Shout out to Bree she took care of us, Thank you! It was a bit loud because the games were on but that's on the side where the bigger TV was. I could tell the other side was more of an intimate setting. Parking Is crazy it is Melrose expect nothing less. Definitely will give it another try, Thank you!

Yelp
The southwest decor is nice and chill, but not too over the top. The food is delicious, the happy hour nachos, and quesadilla with chicken were excellent! We look forward to going back and having John as our server again, he was great!

Yelp
DRINKS Drinks are pretty weak tbh. The margarita tree is a very fun idea and the variety of options in marg make up for the lack if strength. FOOD Be careful of the salads. If you're trying to avoid spice, skip them. That dressing is pretty deadly. SERVICE I have been here for a couple birthday gatherings now, and can say they have great service.

Yelp
10/10! I absolutely loved my experience and it's been two weeks and all I can do is brag about it to everyone I meet/see! The food: AMAZING! It's not just about the presentation, it's so fresh and delicious! The guacamole was my favorite, the rice & beans were the best I ever had, and the mango dessert was a must have!! Prices: very fair! We missed HH by three minutes but most definitely coming back to see what they have to offer. Oh Taco Tuesdays! Service: everyone was super chill and friendly. The GM was the nicest person. You can tell he believes in this place and knows his chefs and menu. Which I loved. I had the pleasure in meeting him and he was so passionate in everything, made me emotional. Can't wait for to place to blow up! Woot woot! :)

Yelp
I have died and gone to heaven!!! Durango Cantina, I love her. For starters, I am not much of a fan of Mexican food. The fact that I am elated to share my experience at this magnificent restaurant has restored my faith in this cultural cuisine. Durango Cantina possesses an impactful menu from a Michelin star Chef that puts every once of culinary thought into each dish. Everything was beyond belief. We ordered the popular guacamole which was unbelievable. The taco de tuetano con carne was out of this world. The flautas de pollo couldn't be more perfect. The half roasted chicken was the absolute best. To top it all off, the bunuelos was Heaven sent. Each dish satisfied "the three t's." Texture, taste, and temperature. The perfect combination of sweet, warm/cold, and crunchy. All presented, indulged, and complemented by good service from our server Branson and the GM. Walking into Durango Cantina felt a lot like being in the country itself. With saloon doors and cacti decorations, plus an antler chandelier and cultural decor. The only thing that was missing was a tumbleweed in the breezeway. Very stylish indeed. This is Mexican food done right. Elevated and appreciated. All the way down to the rice and beans. They set the bar very high. Please, do yourself a favor and check out Durango Cantina.

Yelp
I wanted to give this place a 5 star review. Unfortunately, it fell flat. While the mushroom taco ($6) and chicken taco ($7) were incredible, I have to be honest about what happened. We ordered chicken nachos ($18) and they came out with steak on it. We don't eat red meat - not a big deal - we send it back and the nachos came out correctly the second time. We ordered sparkling water with lime juice for our drinks. Our check came to $65.... I asked why. Our food total was only $31, and surely 2 sparkling water with lime juice would not account for the doubling of the bill. We were charged $12 FOR A WATER WITH LIME JUICE. NOT ONLY IS THAT ABSURD, but we were not even offered a small discount or apology for getting the wrong order. Will sadly not be coming here again. We're trying to make healthier choices with no drinking, but also looking for the added benefit of not spending as much money seeing as cocktails are so expensive in LA.... and then to be charged $24 for essentially two sparkling waters. That's blasphemy. I'll recommend this place to anyone who's looking for an overpriced kitschy scam with clunky service.

Yelp
Literally closed at 4:30pm when it says they should be open on their website, google & yelp. I have a feeling this place won't last in this neighborhood or possibly already shuttered.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to grab a well crafted cocktail or bite to eat! We had already eaten when we passed by the enticing Host Table Wearing Jeans, but were convinced to stop in for a drink by the hostess. We are glad we did! The bartender shared avocado mescal shots he made for the staff, and then made us the Desperado & Valentina. Both were delicious. The service was very attentive and they have a really nice atmosphere. The menu looked enticing so we will definitely be back to try the food. They had a free pool table and pin ball machine too on one side of the restaurant, so it's a great place to hang out after eating as well.

Yelp
We happened to visit Melrose with our kids on the weekend and saw this beautiful restaurant. It had good Yelp reviews so I thought we'd give it a try. Although it was Saturday afternoon, it was still more of a brunch menu and very limited to the item selection. The flautas (off menu at the time) were amazing. I may or may not return with the hubs and no kids at nighttime to give them one more chance. It's one of those Insta places where you can have some fun with your friends, eat drink and take cool pics. But as far as rushing to go back because the food was fab, I'd say no. I'd leave them 3.5 stars if Yelp allowed half stars but I also don't want to give them a 3 so I put 4 instead.

Yelp
Food Very good , came for dessert but I'll be back ASAP Service Right now , I'll give this best in LA. Hands down They are nice to each other, and all the customers . Not forced , they are just vibing , I love it. Ambiance Omg - unbelievable It's unique and beautiful, I don't know how to describe it Overall- it's a must !!!!! This place has great drinks great options and great people. Future Customers -Don't mess up this vibe !!

Yelp
Maybe 2.5 stars if I'm feeling generous. Bartenders were so slow it was beyond belief. Prices were ridiculously high. And seriously, you're a "cantina" yet you have no Mexican beers? Hard pass.
google avatar

Yelp
This place sucked!! Beer didn't taste right. Melrose sucks now, so I wasn't that surprised i didn't enjoy my evening

Yelp
Ambiance: Contemporary open concept with pool table and pinball, complimented by upbeat music and great lighting. Service: Extremely nice, friendly and quick. TJ is phenomenal and brings the vibe and Casey made sure we had a great experience. Food: Great portions plated with stunning attention to detail. The nachos, quesadillas and tacos were phenomenal and unique. Cocktails: Spicy margaritas 10/10. Glad to find a new spot in the area. Will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Durango cantina is such a cool spot! It's western themed and they have a pool table in the middle of the restaurant. The food itself is delicious! My favorite were the chicken nachos but everything was amazing! They also have a margarita tower!

Chris P. B.

Yelp
The shorthand review is that the food is meh and the service is slow, but everything overall is acceptable, which warrants at least the 3-star rating. I wouldn't eat here with my family as the place is quite dark and can get loud, but maybe with friends if the mood is for some casual drinks and grub. More details: This is a nicely situated bar+restaurant right on Melrose Ave. Both indoor and outdoor seating available. Strange saloon-style theming and occasional wafting cannabis smoke through the whole establishment. Despite the weed smoke, we weren't feeling especially hungry and decided to go with an appetizer of guacamole to share and two tacos each - the pollo and the carne asada. No cocktails for us on this occasion. The guacamole comes with rice paper and weirdly enough, seaweed... as well as just two circular baked tortilla chips, about the size of small tea service plates. The seaweed and rice paper made for an awkward flavor combination with the guacamole. I wouldn't recommend. But the guac itself was alright and tasted fresh. Not spicy or any unique flavor though. The tacos were all-in-all fairly good, though they came covered with handfuls of cilantro and raw onion slices, which looked not super appealing and overwhelmed the taste. I made the effort to pick out most of these two toppings and after that the tacos were not bad. The bill for this - 4 tacos and a bowl of guacamole, came out to around $50. With drinks it would've easily been $80 before tax+tip. Our server was quite pleasant, but always seemed to show up with another server behind her. Maybe they were training(?) We were only given one small napkin each for the duration of the meal and waited over 10 minutes to receive our bill at the end. It wasn't crowded at all, by the way. We may have been one of three tables occupied. But in the server's defense, I'm not sure how many staff were working at the time. She may have been the only one there. Food came out fairly quickly though, not that I'd expect a bowl of guac and some tacos to take super long. Anyway, a serviceable spot for dinner by yourself or with friends. Not a family friendly place. Street parking. Oh, and they had weirdly NSFW music videos playing without sound on TVs overlooking the dining area. At the same time, music was blaring through the speakers that did not match up to the music videos. Just bizarre.

Yelp
Durango Cantina is a hidden gem with some of the best Mexican food you'll ever try! Their restaurant is upscale modern with a twist! I just love their decor and the flavors of their food is top notch! Hubby and I have been talking about it every day since we've been! Chef Alex Currasco has really outdone himself! There is an array of cocktails to order but we stuck with the classic Caddilac Margaritas and feasted on food we still dream about! To start we ordered the guacamole which is the best, most inventive guacamole we've ever had! It's served with a beautiful rice paper and seaweed which is the perfect combination with guac! We also ordered the Taco de Birria (the yummiest lamb chop!) and Squash blossom Taco - so pretty and delish! The Pepian y Vegetales were roasted to perfection! Our main plates consisted of a Branzino Zarandeado for me and a Carne Asada for him. The Branzino had a great spice level to it and the carne asada was probably the best plate of meat ever! We got rice and beans for the little one as well! For dessert, we tried the Bunuelos, which was so pretty I didn't want to eat it! But it was just as tasty as it looked! I'm honestly just drooling looking back at our meal and I can't wait to go back for another date lunch (or dinner) to try more! While there was only one server who was also the bartender when we went around noon, he was awesome - very friendly, nice, attentive. Fun facts: - you can get $25 off when you sign up for texts - happy hour is from 12-6pm M-F.

Yelp
To call this the saddest bar in the world would be an understatement. Went there on a Friday night and it was just DEAD. Felt like the 2 guys working there didn't realize that they worked there. 6 screens playing the dodgers game. Empty pool table (nice!) Me and the hg ordered Moscow mules. Took probably... 25 minutes to get a drink? This is common in LA, but when there's like 4 other people in this bar tops it seems like a bit of a stretch. One guy just kept walking back and forth between the bar and the kitchen. Me and my friend were joking that they were googling what's in a Moscow mule. Finally get our drinks after he overhears us laughing. 2 Moscow mules served. Straight up just margaritas -? Interesting experience for sure, may have been dead and sad because it was Yom Kippur but still -??????

Yelp
We love it here! John was our server this time and he was fabulous! Everyone here is very nice. We absolutely love the decor and love playing pool here. It's a beautiful table! The food is top-notch. Pretty decent portions and everything is very flavorful and satisfying. Great presentation as well. You really can't go wrong with any of the food here. Drinks are excellent as well. Not weak at all! See you all soon! :-)

Yelp
Food: the quality of food here is amazing! You can really tell the food here is well prepared & with intention. Fair pricing for LA. Wont get a nice dinner any cheaper without comprising quality. I highly recommend their bone marrow tacos. Their frozen margaritas are also delicious try the mango! Service: ive been here 3-4 times and all of the staff is informative & polite. Great service and food is pretty quick to come to the table Ambiance: a beautiful place great for a dinner party with friends. Last time i went only thing it was super loud inside, we couldnt really here each other across the table. If your going for date night im assuming the sit you on the other side. Regardless an aesthetic modern spanish design i love their interior and vibe.

Yelp
Super cute place on Melrose! Loved the ambiance. There's even a pinball machine! Plenty of TVs to watch the games. Indoor/outdoor seating and attentive service. - Alambre fundido - very good - Taco de camaron con consome - tasty but there's only just 1 taco to share - Flautas de Pollo - crispy and yummy - Beef ribs - tender, flavorful & delish! Would definitely come back.

Yelp
I came here for the grand opening and everything was amazing. The restaurant had a fun western theme to it and had a nice bar. This is the first restaurant I've been to with a Michelin guide chef and I was impressed. They make a delicious guacamole with a fun and unique cloud chip. I recommend asking for extra chips! I also got the flautas and really enjoyed both the chicken and potato ones. The bone marrow taco was unlike anything I've ever seen. It was topped with asada and was very good. The beef ribs was my personal favorite it had so much flavor and also had beans on the side so it was very filling. You can't leave without getting the tres leches for dessert!

Yelp
Got a notification from Yelp that there was a cute new restaurant in town last month. I bookmarked it immediately! Finally checked it out today with a friend. Wasn't expecting HH but they had it! We enjoyed the margarita tree. Such a vibe + plus the delicious guacamole and flautas. Service was great and the manager walked around as well to check on tables. I'll definitely be back for more happy hours and excited to check out the dinner menu.

Yelp
We love this place!!!! It's dope!! Great atmosphere, cool vibe, exceptional food, etc... Our server Stephen was ahhhhmazing!! He was attentive, super nice and knowledgeable of the menu. We love coming here! The food is outstanding. You must try the queso fundido with chorizo and the bone marrow!! Sooo good. Wednesday night is a chill night to come. Tuesdays can get crazy for taco Tuesdays. Don't forget to visit our friend Kamal. He's usually at the bar!! Tell him Lynne & Mel's sent you. Enjoy!!

Yelp
Wow, what an experience! First of all, the customer service was fantastic. That is hard to find these days. That alone makes Durango a top notch restaurant. Secondly, the restaurant has a cool vibe with lovely decor. Finally, the food is artfully prepared and presented. Everything tasted so good! We had the bone marrow tacos which were tender and flavorful. We followed that up with the mouth watering buñuelos dessert topped with mango sorbet. I will definitely return to try more menu items.

Yelp
I love Mexican food, but not familiar with Durango-style specifically. Was excited to try this place considering the chef's accolades, but this place has a long way to go to improve. The restaurant was well-decorated and nice inside, but service was very slow and I'm assuming that's because they are understaffed. It seemed like our waiter was rushing around a bunch and spread thin. The cocktails were decent, nothing special. As a vegetarian, the menu is already extremely limited, so I was annoyed they didn't have the Veggie Albondigas available. The waiter said they were out and he didn't think they were popular anyways. Which is different information we received from the manager who said the chef was still working on it and it just wasn't available yet. If they have disposable paper menus, I don't understand why they just don't take it off the menu until they DO have it? Seems like a simple fix. The Flauta de Papa were ok, again nothing spectacular. My friend said the same of the Aguachile de Camerón. The Cauliflower Zarandeada was like licking the inside of an oven. Just overpowering smoke & char with nothing else going on to it. Super disappointing. My friend who eats meat said it was alright, but as a vegetarian, not what I'm looking for. The manager was sweet to stop by and check in on us. He apologized for things and took care of our dessert, as well as bringing out a side of rice and beans for me to try, which was thoughtful, especially since I was still hungry after not really enjoying anything. Those were very good, actually. The highlights were those and the dessert, which was interesting and unique. The buñuelos on top paired with the other flavors almost tasted like Captain Crunch cereal which I kind of enjoyed. If they added some more veggie options to the menu, I might stop in again and give it another shot. Especially after they've worked out some of the growing pains of a new restaurant. So maybe my opinion will change and I can provide an updated review. In the meantime, wishing them luck!

Yelp
One word: Incredible. From the food to the cocktails, every item is so well thought out. I have worked in the food industry for years, and it's hard to find places with unique concepts. From their Pulpo Tacos with Shrimp consummé to their Tequila cocktail with coconut, cinnamon and mint, everything has a very strong, rich, potent flavor. Atmosphere was on point, service was even better. I'd give it 6 stars if I could. **suggestion: get rid of Budweiser and put an IPA on draft pretty please :)

Yelp
I came to this restaurant after reading a review in the LA Times and the food did not disappoint. We ordered the guacamole, bone marrow tacos, beef ribs, and lamb shank - all fantastic and presented very well. The guacamole had a bit of spice, so if you're expecting a mild appetizer, be sure to check with the server and get their recommendation. Service was a bit slow, which was surprising given that there were few other parties dining at the same time, but overall, a very relaxing environment. FYI - If you're looking to bring your own wine to the restaurant, the corkage fee is $20/bottle. The food was great and I hope this restaurant stays open long in to the future.

Yelp
Cute indoor/outdoor hybrid seating and cool decor but very mediocre food, drinks and service, especially for the price point. Was excited to try it but disappointed overall. Margaritas were watered down for $17 and guac was missing flavor. We ended up going up the street for a better drink and food at a different bar/restaurant.

Yelp
I would definitely call before visiting. Recently visited specifically for the beef rib plate, bone marrow tacos, and chicken taquitos. They didn't have a single one of those available. My boyfriend finished his drink and we left. The stars are for the ambiance- it's very nice inside, and the service- the bartender was very nice and apologetic. No idea what happened that day, I'd still love to try the items, the pictures look great!

Yelp
It's so unfortunate that this place has some of the worst service in LA because the interior is very well designed. I've been in once before and honestly have been treated very poorly by the staff both times aside from the very sweet girl who was working the bar. Last time we were seated and sat for 13 minutes before we were even given a menu. The waiter forgot to take our food order and only after flagging him down did he attend to us. We proceeded to wait 38 minutes for single quesadilla and 2 tacos. I will say the food was great.. the chef kindly handmade some salsa for us because oddly it wasn't offered on the menu. Cut to today, I was considering going back only because the sweet girl behind the bar said they had just opened the last time I was there and asked us to forgive the service as they were trying to figure out what their process was. Well.. unfortunately they STILL don't have it figured out. We went in and the girl at the front seemed like she was high out of her mind. We had to ask her to sit us down because she was just there starting at us.. it was awkward. They were only hosting 2 tables, we were given menus and no one came by as we sat for over 10 minutes. Multiple workers passed by, I made eye contact with them too but they just continued to make cocktails for themselves and pass by us. No one checked on us, no one even batted and eye. Again, the same sweet girl was behind the bar and was the only person working.. she stopped what she was doing, came over to apologize and said "someone will be with you in just a minute". I'd had enough and so had my husband so we just said nah no thanks and got up and left. The staff would rather smoke weed, sit in booths on their phones and flirt with guys from the retail spot next door then help their guests. This place sucks.. don't go here. Thanks for nothing and to the manager, I saw you doing nothing.. you really set a tone for your workers to be lazy. Great job guy

Yelp
Gross food. Really bad service. I am from LA and have been to several restaurants obviously many all over LA. thought the theme would be nice which was ok but food and service is a big issue. I don't recommend coming here. Maybe if you want chips and guacamole with a margaritas you'll be safe. Besides that big no, plenty other restaurants in the area that have good service and good food! This is a big no.

Yelp
I was invited in for lunch with the girls and it did not disappoint. The ambiance, service (our server Rochelle was great!) and food were all on point. I loved the mouth watering, creative culinary twists for every dish. Def get the gauc with the rice paper, the carne asada, and octopus taco - it's served with caldo de camaron. They have a good happy hour and I can't wait to go back for brunch! Next time I am definitely trying the bone marrow tacos, burria tacos and the ribs!

Yelp
Durango is a great place to grab a cocktail and sit in a comfortable chair. Love their fish tacos!!! Very yummy! The ambiance is beautiful. The waiter and bar tender are super sweet and very accommodating. I wish them much success! I have lived on Melrose for 40 years and seen restaurants come and go in that very spot...it's very sad. My only fear for Durango's success is all the sketchy people and stores surrounding it. We were there a few nights ago and felt very uneasy when a bunch of guys came walking in off the street just to use the restroom. They reeked of weed as they passed us by. I was so happy when the waiter politely asked them to leave. This is a restaurant with dining in, why would anyone just walk off the street and ask to use the bathroom, especially 6 guys all at once. With all the crime we hear about on Melrose, you want to feel safe when you are at a restaurant. Also as we were leaving some folks were smoking weed outside where the lounge chairs are located. I'm an old Hippie and enjoyed weed a long time ago, I'm just not liking it when I'm sitting having dinner with family and friends today. The whole time we were having dinner the smell just kept coming through the restaurant. I'm not putting the blame on the restaurant, I just wish they somehow could control it better with their outside customers. Durango you are a beautiful and scrumptious restaurant, we will always be coming to you!

Yelp
AMAZING. The spot is absolutely stunning. Look around the room beautiful touches everywhere. Service was 10/10 a few people stopped by the table to check on us and Branson took great care of us. The food! Beautiful and delicious. Def come check this spot out! DJ was on point too!

Yelp
Idk why every time I come here it's not crowded! I love the food, drinks, design, and prices! Update: I came here a few months ago and the food was delicious and drinks were aesthetic. Came again last night after their renovations and new menu and the nachos were not as good and the drinks we got were not decorated, like they used to be. They also don't use InKind anymore. Pretty disappointed.

Yelp
Such a nice spot with crazy nice dessert vibes. The entire restaurant is decorated so nicely and there is so much natural light in their open restaurant. That have Durango Cuisine and some serious spicy dishes like their roasted poblano tomato shahshuka. I came here for brunch and really loved their queso sausage burrito. I hope to come here for dinner next time.

Yelp
The food is good. Stopped here for their happy hour which is pretty good. Tried the octopus taco and shocked how good it was. The only knock off was they were out of shrimp both times we visited.

Yelp
A fun neighborhood hang with cute decor, fun music, and a wide range of cocktails. Their happy hour is the best, and the bartender John is always super friendly and welcoming. An easy place to catch up with a friend or just hang out.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this new place. TJ brings the vibe all around and is amazing! Made our day. Elizabeth and Bree were amazing servers too. The guac was to die for. I'm a Mexican food snob, but I was highly surprised at the caliber of this place. The ambiance is super chill, but classy, they have sit down tables and a section with a pool table and TVs so a little for everyone. By far one of my fav Mexican spots in town. We had the guac, pollo, squash blossom and carne asada tacos and they were unlike any other taco I've ever had. Truly truly unique and the flavors were so exquisite. I highly highly recommend this place. See you guys Monday!

Yelp
I have come here twice as I really want to try the food but twice they were playing reggaeton or rap music with a strong beat that gave me anxiety and had to leave. Please add more traditional Latin music to your mix Porfi
