How to Use Fruit Preserves in Cocktails, Marinades, and More | Eater

"A produce market that feels like a shrine to Southern fruit culture, with rows of glistening jars stacked high and a dazzling variety of locally made preserves—strawberry-fig, pear, peach, muscadine, blueberry jalapeño, and more. The fruits are picked and preserved within miles of where they’re sold, giving the spreads a noticeably fresh, intensely fruity flavor; this local sourcing and wide selection make it an excellent place to find distinctive, regional jams and marmalades." - Rai Mincey

This is a great farmers market stop and has been one of the favorite stops. They have an area for fresh veggies and fruits, cider, sauces, canned goods. They also have a section to buy ice cream and a little restaurant where you can get things like sandwiches and soups and a few other food items. There is also a cute little gift shop inside. They have indoor seating to eat or they have a very nice outdoor covered pavilion with ceiling fans and tables and chairs to sit at. It was really nice eating out there. I got a very good chicken salad sandwich, with very fresh tomatoes on a croissant. Someone with me got club sandwich.

I recently had the pleasure of stopping by Durbin Farmers Market in Clanton, AL, and I was thoroughly impressed by the variety and quality of the products and services they offer. This charming market is a must-visit for anyone looking for fresh, locally sourced produce, delicious homemade treats, and a welcoming atmosphere. *Fresh Produce and More* The market boasts an impressive selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, including an abundance of juicy peaches that seemed to be a specialty. We also spotted an assortment of fresh fruit preserves, Amish goods, and boiled peanuts that looked and smelled delicious. The emphasis on peaches was evident, with numerous peach trucks and displays throughout the market. *Restaurant and Food* The attached restaurant serves up tasty sandwiches and homemade ice cream that's sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. We ordered the spinach bacon sandwich and southwest chicken sandwich, both of which were flavorful and well-prepared. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. *Beautiful Outdoor Seating Area* One of the highlights of our visit was the picturesque outdoor seating area, which offered a serene and natural ambiance. The beautifully landscaped surroundings and comfortable seating made it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal or snack. *A Great Place to Stop on the Road* Durbin Farmers Market is an excellent choice for travelers looking for a quick bite or a chance to stretch their legs. Google
A must stop for me every time I travel to the Gulf Shores! You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream! Stop and get some fresh produce, flowers, baked goods, or have a sandwich for lunch! My husband loves the mini apple pies. Ohhh, if you've never had chess pie, they have vanilla or peach you can choose from. One piece is enough for 2 servings! Walk around, sit outside at the picnic tables, or swing while you savor your delicious treats!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Durbin Farms Market is such a charming stop, especially if you’re traveling through or just want fresh, local products. The first thing that hits you when you walk in is the smell of fresh peaches—it’s their specialty and they’re some of the juiciest, sweetest peaches I’ve ever had. Beyond that, the market is full of fresh produce, homemade jams, salsas, and baked goods that make it hard not to load up your basket. I tried their peach ice cream, which is a must—it’s creamy, refreshing, and packed with flavor. The staff was warm and welcoming, offering samples and answering questions without rushing you. Prices are fair for the quality, and it feels good to support local growers. The building itself has that rustic, farmhouse charm, and there’s plenty of space to sit and enjoy your treats before getting back on the road. It’s the kind of place that makes a simple stop feel like a memorable experience.”

Google
Great little stop on the way to the beach! Their gift shop prices seemed too high to me but....their pina colada milkshake and peach cobbler were SO GOOD! I really liked that they gave me a spoon and a straw both with my milkshake. It was so thick, I ate it like an ice cream at first and then was able to finish it off as a milkshake. The best of both worlds!! Their produce prices were decent but we didn't buy any since we stopped on the way to the beach. Their staff were really nice and the store was organized and easy to navigate! Next year, we will definitely stop here for a sweet treat!

Google
Cute little place just right off the interstate. My family and I stopped here for a late lunch on the way home from the beach yesterday. We each had a sandwich and the kids and I all had the corn/shrimp chowder. Later on I had a small cup of ice cream while my husband and kids had shakes. Everything was great. The gift shop and market have a wonderful selection of items to choose from. My husband had bought some of their canned goods in the past. People were friendly and helpful. Will return! 🍑

Yelp
Great food and gift shop. Simple but very tasty food If I lived closer I would stop by more often.

Yelp
Sandwiches and ice cream were delicious! We'll definitely stop again when passing by and am looking forward to it. Stopped while passing through on March, 13, 2025. Very friendly people. It was just before closing, yet they were still very patient, nice, helpful, and the food was delicious! They have a lot more than just food. Stop and take a look!

Yelp
Just ate there, had extremely long lines but that is to be expected at lunch time in a place with good food. However I did get upset when a worker with a mobile device went to the back of the line and started taking orders. Total disregard for the people who had already been waiting 15 to 20 minutes in line. Food was excellent as always.
google avatar

Lilly Millie B.

Yelp
Lots of peaches and really good sugar baby watermelons. Love all of their fresh jarred stuff. Cute little gift shop, but a little overly gimmicky. Employees know basically nothing about the produce but were polite. Not a local farm itself but they clearly buy produce from local farms.
google avatar

Yelp
Great mid-beach stop. Good prices on pumpkins. Picked up a huge Cinderella for $14. Clean bathrooms. Outdoor patio. Attached is a cafe & Ice cream shop. Hubby can't resist the IC. Got the snickers shake & it was good. The Durbin merch is a little pricey but unusual stuff like Stanley cups with German shepherd, etc. The 10oz jars of salsas, preserves, & pickled food I think was $14. Tons of parking. Definitely will plan to stop in again. Super friendly staff.

Yelp
With my job I travel I-65 often and I try to time my lunch at Durbin Farms Market. Not only a farmers market but a great little restaurant. Mainly hot and cold sandwiches always fresh and good. Sunday after fighting Sunday after Thanksgiving traffic I stopped for lunch. Today I tried their club sandwich with smoke turkey and ham fully dressed with honey mustard and it was one of the best clubs I had have. They have some great sides but I always grab a bag of chips. I only had half of my sandwich no matter how good it taste I had to save room for their peach cobbler and ice cream. It's great everyone brags about their milk shakes but I can't not order their cobbler. The coffee is not bad either
google avatar

Stella J.

Yelp
Fast and delicious lunch! Sandwiches were huge and fresh; and a kids menu is always a plus for me. The shopping doesn't hurt either

Yelp
Well, it seems like Durbin Farms has a little bit of everything! T-shirts, hats, cups, Amish cheese, vegetables, sandwiches, and more. If you live in Birmingham and you are on your way to the beach, you should stop by and grab some Alabama peaches and fresh peanuts. If you are really hungry, I recommend a cannoli or some ice cream. I have to say I wasn't crazy about the milkshake I got. It was made with peach ice cream but didn't taste peachy. When we went, it was packed, but there was plenty of parking and plenty of cashiers s You can take your food to go or eat in. There are tables inside, and if it's nice outside, there is a covered seating area.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a wonderful stop while going down I-65. Fresh fruit galore, wonderful edible treats, icecreap parlor, baked goods, peach and apple fried pies, sandwich shop, and gift shop. Fun and perk you up and bring a smile kind of stop! Will stop here often.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
This place banks on ripping off unsuspecting hungry travelers coming through the area. The staff and owner are rude as well. They wanted $37 for 2 "combo" meals. I told them that's an insane amount to be charging and to cancel the order. They acted appalled that anybody would ever say something to them. Also, I was basically told to hush when I tried to confirm the order was canceled and refunded before leaving. They defiantly have the "give us your money and get out" mentality. (If you are able to physically get out of there while having to sift through all the merchandise tat). Beware.

Yelp
Always a good and fun stop while heading to/from Montgomery. Nice selection of fruit, vegetables, honey, and preserves. During this stop, I also got the southwestern sandwich from their restaurant. It's good. It has chicken, cheese, jalapeños, a southwest sauce, avocado (and some other ingredients but I forgot). I had the pasta salad as a side. It was too vinegary for me. If you're passing through make sure to stop by.

Yelp
Great place to stop off i65 for a quick rest stop, that has fresh peaches, watermelon, fruit vegetables. Lots of tables indoors with welcoming air conditioning. Great service and with hot or cold sandwiches and ice cream on the menu. There are picnic tables outside where you can eat what you brought or bought inside. There are plenty of spaces for parking your car, truck, or RV.

Yelp
This place has the 3 C's covered - clean, cute, courteous! We missed the Loves at exit 208 and so glad we did. Delicious sandwiches (I had the Hawaiian, they happily made Clyde a custom breakfast Sammy, gumbo, loaded potato & pasta salads, a huge piece of chess cake, AND two drinks for less than $34! . Food came out fast and everything was perfectly prepared. The gumbo and Hawaiian were especially good. Cute market (with yes, slightly high prices but nothing outrageous) is worth a look-see. The indoor cafe ladies room was small but clean and well stocked. Definitely adding this stop to our trips home to STL!

MacKenzie B.

Yelp
Me and my family stopped in on our way back home. This place has the absolute best food! It is very clean and well organize! The customer survive is top tier! They are all so kind and welcoming!

Madilyn B.

Yelp
Just had an amazing experience at Durban Farms Market. Workers were very knowledgeable about their peach selection. They were so kind and gave us a free box of peaches to compare the tastes! Highly recommend stopping by Durbin Farms to get some produce!

Yvonne C.

Yelp
We have eaten at the market and preordered our cooked turkey last year for Thanksgiving. Both were wonderful. The atmosphere and shopping at the market is really fun too.

Yelp
We had stopped by Chevron gas station and saw this amazing Farms Market right next to it, quite by luck on our way to Pensacola beach from Bowling Green, KY. Totally worth it! The Ice cream is amazing. Don't miss it! We tried peach vanilla sundae with peach and strawberry topping. Also Bought some toys and fresh fruits.

Kerri L.

Yelp
Over priced merchandise and produce and nasty owner. Baked Goods are ok but still overpriced.

Ultra M.

Yelp
My pregnant wife and I stopped by to get some dinner to go. The moment we walked up to the counter, the worker was extremely rude for no reason. She wouldn't let my wife complete a sentence, had a snark attitude, and treated us like we were her biggest inconvenience. I couldn't believe how she was treating us. For now on, I will take my business to peach park and will recommend others to as well. I am astonished that this establishment would let their employees act like this. Obviously customer retention isn't a priority here. I wish I could give less than a star.

Yelp
Durbin Farms Market is one of my favorite places to be in Clanton. They are easily located off I-65 at the Highway 31 exit and the parking lot is motorcycle friendly. Dwith the epending on the time of the year, they may have plants, planters, folk art, t-shirts, fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables, relishes, jellies, jams, Amish cheese and Amish butter. Durbin Farms Market has a Restaurant along with the market and although we have not eaten at the restaurant, we have seen the menu feature sandwiches, salads and ice cream treats. The market features their fresh fruits and vegetables - whatever is in season. In the back of the market are coolers and freezers with the frozen fruits, vegetables, nuts, desserts, Specialty Amish cheese and butter. Durbin Farms Market is a modern take on all the 1960 roadside stands that lined southern highways decades ago and it works... and it is a fun place to be! I can't wait to go again to load up on vegetables, cheese and fruit. We have to grab those peaches while they are in season!
google avatar

Allison F.

Yelp
Fresh peaches from nearby? Sign me up. This spot is an institution, and it's apparent from the moment you enter the parking lot. In addition to peaches, one can find other local produce, edible items in jars, ice cream, and merchandise. If you're wondering if it's worth the stop, my vote is yes.

MaHettie G.

Yelp
I had the chicken salad sandwich andy mom had the bacon guacamole cheddar. They were delicious! Always love the food and ambiance!

Stephanie V.

Yelp
Excellent, fresh produce. Wonderful preserves and Jared items. Delicious cafe. A favorite stop on our way to Miramar Beach.

Yelp
Good folks and great food!!! Neat little road side local to support!! Nice outside area as well for summertime stops!

Yelp
This place is always a must stop place when driving up 65. I even have a friend stop here to get me stuff when he's on his way to Bham from the Gump. Here's my favorite things... - fresh fruits and veggies. So much more than just peaches. Get those Alabama grown tomatoes! - bakery and ice cream. Man I love this stuff. Get the peach ice cream and get some extra peaches added to the top. Peach overload but that's why you are here right!!! - cool jellies and sauces in jars. Don't miss these. We got several pepper jellies and a delicious onion relish that makes sandwiches and burgers out of this world - great staff. They are usually as friendly as can be - super clean restroom. I mean, not usually part of my reviews but when you are on a trip, this is a great pit stop. See what I did there??? You will be delighted with a sampling of many of Alabama's best flavors and people watching. So much to take home and a perfect snack to get you energized and back on the road. Definitely something to look forward to on a mostly boring interstate drive.
google avatar

Stefani S.

Yelp
Potatoe salad is amazing. Ham and cheese melt had the best tomato ever on it. Service is friendly.
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
Too busy eating to take any pictures! Had a hot turkey, spinach, bacon, goat cheese on sour dough; Rubin and Cuban were fantastic. Cute little market with fresh veggies, nick-nacks, and of course ice cream.
google avatar

Suman C.

Yelp
Between the variety of a big farmer's market, restaurant, ice cream, fudge and souvenirs...it's the perfect road stop.

Deb J.

Yelp
Don't waste your $5 on the kettle corn. Mine was burnt tasting and just popped corn. Not sweet at all. Very overpriced!!
google avatar

Anne M.

Yelp
I love Durbin farmers market! We make a point to stop here every time we are traveling from home in Kentucky to Destin. Lots of good fruits and vegetables in season, which we can grab for our kitchen when we arrive for vacation. Additionally, we always get a scoop of their delicious ice cream. Pecan peach is my all time Favorite!
google avatar

Caroline S.

Yelp
A great little place for ice cream! Easy to get on and off the freeway. They make their ice cream in house. The peach pecan was delicious from their own peach orchard! Lots of gift items & produce as well.

Brian G.

Yelp
Great selection of foods, but highlight is the array of desserts and pastries. The peanut butter chocolate pie was the best of the desserts we had.

T K.

Yelp
Quick stop on a road trip for lunch. Chicken salad sandwich was very good. Broccoli salad side was just right. Staff was friendly, fast, and helpful. Ice cream looked good, but we got a fried peach pie for later. We didn't stop to check out the vegetable stand, but it looks nice, too.

Patsy K.

Yelp
I stopped by on Thursday morning my husband and I were on our way to visit family so we thought we would take them peaches!! Because we really love Chilton County peaches. Oh well after waiting forty five minutes to open, you guessed it, they didn't open!!! Their website says eight o'clock. Wrong!! I even double checked and website said open, so we get out of car and ask a lady that was working there and she told us no, not until nine o'clock and restaurant maybe ten or so!! I was terribly disappointed and quite teed off!! Extremely misleading!!! We wasted forty five minutes waiting on this place!!! Not ever again!!! To the owners I say please correct your website so that others will not have this same experience!!! After stopping by for years to buy produce and sweets I expected more than this. Disappointed!!
google avatar

Christine J.

Yelp
We both had a bacon guacamole grilled cheese which was ok ... but not great. (Chris liked it more than I did. Smear of something green does not = guacamole to me and the cheese tasted like cheese whiz) Where they totally redeemed themselves was with the huge portion of peach cobbler that we split and the phenomenal peach ice cream that we topped it with. Very reasonably priced at $6.59 for both!

Kenetrice N.

Yelp
They have a good variety of fruits and veggies and lots of cute seasonal/holiday decor, as well as unique candies and snacks to try. My only complaint is the pricing on Al the non-produce items. I know "support local" and all that but if I can get the same thing for half that price at Walmart, it's hard for me to justify paying double in this economy. Totally worth stopping by though because they do have great produce that is reasonably priced.

Trent H.

Yelp
the works make a shame circle around me because I dropped a spoon the food was good tho
google avatar

Kyle B.

Yelp
This is an easy stop right off I-65 and there's usually plenty of parking available. too. My family and I stop here on our way either to or from the beach for ice cream. Sometimes we also pick up a few things from the farmer's market. We've even had lunch here once or twice, but this place is always on our list of places make a pit-stop on our route. They do have the best peach ice cream. If you like peaches and you like ice cream, then you need a scoop of it! It's so delicious. When we stopped by here on our way back from the beach last week, they didn't have any of their usual sandwich stuff. I'm assuming that it's a COVID-19 decision to allow their staff to social distance. It's really too bad, because their sandwiches are very good, just make sure you save room for the ice cream! Pro-tip - my favorite is the pecan peach ice cream. Make sure you try it. Depending on when you go, they wlll also have farm fresh fruits and vegetables in the farmers market. Jarred jellies, jams, relishes, and even BBQ sauce. At one point or another, we've brought home all of the above. I really like this place, the food is good, the ice cream I can't get enough of... well, maybe I can. When the price per scoop is about the same as an entire carton of store-brand ice cream back home... it's a little expensive, hence four stars and not five. I do remind myself, that it's a treat... when I get that first taste of the ice cream, I forget all about my wallet being a lot lighter than when I walked in.
google avatar

Misty M.

Yelp
The place itself was kinda cool but the peaches weren't anything to write home about.
google avatar

Deb F.

Yelp
They have added more snack products. We visited the restaurant for the first time and now wish we had made a habit of this on our previous trips. It was 10:30 am on our way from a Florida vacation to our home in WI. We were able to get lunch items. I didn't notice until after we ordered that they did have a few breakfast sandwiches along with ample bakery items. We had a grilled pimento cheese and ham grilled on sourdough , a honey baked ham on sourdough, a bowl of chicken noodle soup, a bowl of chili and a scone. Everything was delicious. The sandwiches were good sized. We could only eat half so look forward to leftovers. The chili was hearty and tasty. The chicken noodle soup had thick noodles and a smooth broth. It was a nice welcome on a cool day.
google avatar

Jon D.

Yelp
We stopped in for some peaches and they had a huge variety of foods! Very impressed! The place is clean and the staff were helpful and friendly.
google avatar

Heather W.

Yelp
Lovely stop on the highway with a great selection! Coming from CO I've never had Peach ice cream and it was amazing! I also bought a nice assortment of jams to take home and they were all good!

Debbie S.

Yelp
Awesome place!! The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was delightful. The peaches were fantastic!! I actually left my debit card there and they mailed it to me in another state. I sincerely appreciate that they went above and beyond to take care of a customer. I would highly recommend this place and I will definitely return when I am in the area.

Yelp
We saw a giant peach off interstate when traveling from Birmingham back to Mobile a few weeks ago. We decided to check it out. The exit lead us off off the beaten path, to through the woods, in search of Chilton county peaches. We ended up at Durbin's Farm Market. This place is huge. They have an Ice Cream shop and a large selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. We arrived too late, after 8:30pm, to go to the ice cream shop but we did pick up several items from the fruits and vegetable market. We found Chilton county peaches and we also discovered a watermelon called the Sweet baby. Customer service was excellent, the market was clean and it was really organized and we were excited to see they were still open, late. There's plenty to choose from but we are in a hurry so we just grabbed a couple of things and decided to get on the road. Turns out that trip through the woods was one way, the interstate was just up ahead. I'll definitely be back to Clanton, AL. Especially, if nothing else, for those Chilton county peaches and that sweet baby!
google avatar

Jackie K.

Yelp
We only had ice cream. Huge amount for 1 scoop. I had butter pecan. It was a little tooooo sweet. Husband had the peach which was really tasty!
google avatar

Jeremy R.

Yelp
For years, this has been one of our favorite places to stop when traveling between north Alabama and the Gulf Coast. Our entire family knows that we're stopping at exit 205 if Durbin is open. Bypassing the exit is a guaranteed way of getting a family feud started. HOWEVER, the last two times that we've stopped in within the last year, they have had freezer problems. Today, they was serving a sloppy mess of soft ice cream that would not hold form for a cone. The entire room was hot and flies annoyed the entire table while eating the ice cream. My "ice cream" had icy chunks in it which makes me believe that it had been partially melted then frozen. I was very disappointed in paying full price for what we received. Once, I overlooked it. Twice, I reflect it in a review. If this had been my first time there, Durbin would have gotten one star and I wouldn't have returned. Since I know they had good quality, we'll give them another chance next time and reflect the review accordingly. Recommendation; set a quality standard that you are proud of and if you can't meet it due to freezer issues, don't sell anything at all.
google avatar

Keith M.

Yelp
Always stop by here on our way to Destin and the food is always good. Their fresh vegetables are top notch and their ice cream is wonderful. Had to try their peach cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and was NOT disappointed. It was very sweet and wonderful!!!
google avatar

Todd B.

Yelp
This is a great spot to stop in on if you're heading to the beach. They always have fresh produce and are well-known for their amazing peach ice cream. They are always generous with their scoops and the staff is friendly. It was crowded when we went, but that was to be expected with all of the beach traffic, and there was still plenty of parking and seating. This will be a must for me for every time I head through Clanton!

Ivannia N.

Yelp
Loved it! Really good food and costumer's service. First time I tried pumpkin ice cream, very delicious
