14 Best Broward County Restaurants That Make Us Want To Move - Miami - The Infatuation

"Plantation is known for its suburban lifestyle, its big green golf course, and (after reading this) “monkey gland sauce” and “bunny chow.” For the uninitiated, one is a tangy barbecue sauce unrelated to monkeys, the other is an unsliced bread loaf filled with curry, and you can find both at Dutchy’s in Plantation. The food here is as fun as it sounds, starting with an entire platter of biltong that will make it hard to go back to jerky. But our favorite is that bunny chow, a comforting bread bowl filled with spicy lamb curry, potatoes, and sambal. Enjoy it while watching a rugby match on their big screen. The biltong platter alone is reason enough to move, but for now we’ll just keep paying $10 for a 2oz bag of biltong at Whole Foods before Miami Sharks matches." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino

The Best African Restaurants In Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"A menu with “monkey gland sauce” and “bunny chow” might raise a few eyebrows in the United States, but not in South Africa. For those who’ve tried neither, one is a tangy barbecue sauce unrelated to monkeys, the other is an unsliced bread loaf filled with curry. You can find both at Dutchy’s, a half market and half restaurant in Plantation that’s popular with homesick yachties passing through Ft. Lauderdale’s marinas looking to stock up on frozen boerewors and droëwors. The biltong here will make it hard to go back to regular jerky. But our favorite dish is that bunny chow, a comforting bread bowl filled with spicy lamb curry, potatoes, and sambal. There’s usually a rugby game playing on the big screen, and you can shop for South African sweets, like Tumbles and Noshes while you digest lunch." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo

Part restaurant, part speciality South African grocery store. Went for the dine in and tried a gatsby sausage on this first visit and it was very good. Great combo of flavors and textures, and the sausage was perfect. Looking forward to trying more dishes on the next visit!

Love this place and lucky it's nearby! I always get the Pork Belly lollipops and the Chicken Liver.. so delicious and the service is always on point, delivered with a warm smile :) The shop is awesome too with delicious sausage and don't forget the mayo!

Real quality food cooked by real nice people. This place is a true neighborhood gem. Highly recommend the lamb on their menu and the fresh biltong!

Dutchy’s is an absolute gem! The food was incredible — full of flavor and made with love. It truly felt like a taste of home. The service was friendly, welcoming, and made the whole experience even better. It’s not easy finding a spot that brings comfort and quality together so perfectly, but Dutchy’s does just that. It feels like a little piece of South Africa right here in South Florida. I’ll definitely be making this my regular lunch spot!

Best bunny chow. If you like a challenge ask for it "Durban Hot". Very authentic food and kindest workers ever.

Dutchy’s was recommended to me by a friend however my experience there was terrible. The staff came across as disengaged and barely acknowledged my presence. There was no effort to explain products, offer suggestions, or even greet me properly. It felt like I was interrupting rather than welcomed. The overall energy was indifferent at best, and frankly, I expected better from a place that prides itself on community and culture. Good products mean little if the people behind them don’t show any enthusiasm or care.

As a fellow South African I was a little skeptical when i was told that there is a place close by that had real biltong and South African food but it was AMAZING! All the food on the menu tasted just like home and the malva pudding and melktert were delicious! The biltong is REAL and tastes exactly like what you would buy in South Africa! I hope everyone gets the opportunity to go here and try our food and especially our biltong! Their staff were great and everyone even speaks Afrikaans! So if you’re from south africa you will definitely feel transported back for a second! Plus you can purchase some groceries! 10/10 definitely recommend!
