Located in a back courtyard in the Karlin neighborhood of Prague, Dva Kohouti is a nice little brewery to hang out on a warm Summer night. Due to its location, just a couple of blocks away from a number of large office buildings, Dva Kohouti can get pretty crowded, and despite the popularity the line moves pretty fast.
When I went they had 8 house beers plus Matuska beer. What is different is that they only had one Lager, their Mistni Pivo which is a 12 degree beer at 4.9% alcohol. The degree is known as the "gravity" of the beer, or the dissolved solids (mostly sugars) in the brewery wort, which are measured during brewing. The gravity is a measurement of potential alcohol.
Being so burned out from IPAs and APAs in the US, I ordered the Lager. It was very crisp and went great with the Utopence while sitting outside on a balmy Summer night. We shared a table with some Czech businessmen who were very chatty and eager to practice their English.
I actually came here a couple of times while staying in Karlin for the beer. Worth the 10 minute trip from the city center to escape all of the tourists.
