The 19 Best Bagels In NYC

"The first thing you’ll notice when you approach the counter at Dyker Park Bagels is the intriguing cream cheese collection. We like the rich bacon and cheddar (preferably on a weekend when we don’t have to function at our desk afterward) or the rainbow sprinkle cream cheese for a full-on dessert situation. But our go-to is a gourmet, salty slather of pimento and green olive cream cheese on one of their chewy and crispy sun-dried tomato bagels. There are a few great bagel shops in the area, but the thinner, lighter bagels here are our first choice." - willa moore, neha talreja, hannah albertine, will hartman

Google
Not a bad spot to grab a sandwich. I ordered a Chicken Ridiculous, which is their signature sandwich. It was pretty good, would order it again and ask for a little more vinegar. Definitely worth checking out!

Google
During my stay in Dyker Heights I had two things from this wonderful deli, as it was right across the street from my hotel. Two sesame seed bagels (with cream cheese) and a Colombian coffee, and on the last day of my stay I had one of their featured sandwiches, a hero with chicken cutlets, roasted peppers, mozzarella, and pesto. The location is rather small and quaint, and very inviting with the signage and walk-in, making you feel like you're in the heart of a Brooklyn neighborhood that's swimming in personality. The staff are kind and earthy and always ready to crack a joke, making even an out-of-town country bumpkin like myself feel at home. I would greatly recommend this place to anyone in the area, local or visitor, who is looking for a nice deli to frequent, visit, regularly or once in a while, as it was a great and trustworthy joint to head to during my stay.

Google
This is one of the best bagel places I've ever been to. Their bagels are AMAZING. And everything is fresh and delicious. Excellent staff. Tell them drummer Seth sent you.

Google
The store is located in the Dyker Heights/Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn. I have purchased various bagels and different salads for several years. The tuna salad, egg salad and shrimp salad are very good. They offer a variety of cold cuts and drinks. They also will prepare hot food. Friendly and helpful staff. Service is fast.

Google
Staff are not quick enough, yet have some attitudes for no reason. In addition, their prices get higher and higher with no explanation. A small egg and cheese bagel would cost $11 ?! Why? What’s so special. It tasted ok not even amazing. Not recommend.

Caro G.

Google
This restaurant deserves all the success they've found. The freshness of ingredients is noticeable. This place satisfies me completely. The staff provides attentiveness that matches their cooking mastery. The entire restaurant operates seamlessly.

Google
Great bagels but don’t order for delivery. Items missing and no one answers the phone. Went in and they made me wait forever! I had company…. Embarrassing and a mess! Over 100 dollar order! DISGRACEFUL

Jillian V.

Google
The worker was very attentive and super friendly. It was really hard to see what bagels they had available behind the counter. It took quite some time to get our food and they don’t give you a receipt to let you see what you are being charged. The food is a hit and miss sometimes it is cooked well others they just don’t seem to hit the mark. Also when cutting your bagels they don’t try and do it correctly. My child opened his bagel with cream cheese and it was barely cut through and unevenly cut. He was very disappointed and had a difficult time eating his food.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast or late night bagels. The line may seem long, but there is plenty of staff to take care of you and the line goes quickly. I usually order the bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. My late night bagel consists on equal ham and Swiss cheese on an egg bagel with mayonnaise. The bagels are always fresh and great. The coffee is also good. The place is kept clean and there are always different items in the cases. Definitely a great spot.

Yelp
Food service and ambiance all amazing. The staff in there are super friendly and gave good recommendations. I was there for a week and stayed at the hotel across the street and I went to the bagel shop every day! Sometimes twice a day lol. Highly recommend and can't wait to visit again! Something to be said when day 2 they recognize you and greet you
google avatar

Yelp
A very classic nyc bagel. Nothing to write home about or travel long distance for, but if you're in the neighborhood it's worth checking out. Solid stack of cream cheese.

Rosa I.

Yelp
Fresh bagels great taste when day send the bagels everything is wrapped very nice. Bagels are fresh all times
google avatar

Yelp
Love love love this spot. Love and recommend the rainbow cookies, green onion cream cheese, vegetable cream cheese and the lox is also fantastic (not salty). Service was good too!
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
The best jalapeño cream cheese!!! In addition bagels are always fresh and tasty!!! Workers are also attentive and accommodating

Gwenn L.

Yelp
We drive past at least 5 other bagel places to get our bagels here. Their Chicken Ridiculous is a must have and their selection of bakery items are wonderful to!
google avatar

Milana A.

Yelp
Not a bad spot but I ordered on uber and wrote 3 notes about the coffee with creamers and it came black as well as the extra butter and they came dry. This is the second time I've ordered and no one reads the notes. What is the point of asking to write down what to do with my coffee if you don't read them?

Yelp
This had to be the first Delicatessen store in all of the 5 boroughs of New York that did not make me feel rushed or hurried to order! So five stars just on that! The croissants were horrible. Hence 4 stars total. But that bagel.... good God! Now I see why New Yorkers brag about their bagels. I don't think I can ever eat another bagel anywhere else again. There is a mighty huge difference between New York Bagels and the rest of the world. I really wouldn't have believed it until I finally tried one myself.

Barbara S.

Yelp
Had a great experience recently. I ordered breakfast trays to be delivered as an expression of sympathy. Margaret was the absolute best!!! She was helpful and thorough and all around provided me with excellent customer service. The trays were made up so nicely with a variety of bagels, croissants, muffins, etc. The presentation looked so appetizing and everything was delicious and fresh. Great place, good food and overall excellent customer service!!
google avatar

Yelp
Bad service and very disgusting attitude. Especially the owner with her pigtail. Better off going few blocks up to park bagels. Where they greet you with respect and appreciate you.

Frankie B.

Yelp
Their bagels although tasty, from day to day it's either thin or smaller not consistent in size, Also most times slow motion speed when it gets busy.

Karen B.

Yelp
Excellent bagels! Good service and good prices! Why go anywhere else for breakfast? Dyker park bagels had it all.
google avatar

Jackie V.

Yelp
Solid Bagel. sandwiches are pretty generous in size. great value and taste. I prefer mine toasted.
google avatar

Berk S.

Yelp
Gone are the days....Dyker Park Bagels has succumbed to cutting corners. The quality (toppings), and the size, of the bagels are comical. Drive/Walk down to 14th Ave Bagels and get a real NY bagel. Come on Dyker Park Bagels - what happened to you?
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent bagels and rolls! My sister and I ordered the Chicken Ridiculous Sandwich on a roll, a whole wheat bagel with cream cheese, and a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese for delivery via Uber Eats. The items were a bit on the pricier side, but well worth the cost. The Chicken Ridiculous Sandwich, as the name suggests, was ridiculously delicious; Dyker Park Bagels was extremely generous with the ingredients--lots of fried chicken, fresh mozzarella, bacon, lettuce, and tomato. So so yummy! The whole wheat bagel and the cinnamon raisin bagel were good as well, but my sister and I agreed that both bagels had a subtle taste of onions. I know they serve onion bagels, so cross-contamination perhaps? Also, on Uber Eats, this business is listed as "Dyker Park Hot Bagels" so we assumed that the bagels would arrive toasted, but they weren't. Still amazing nonetheless. Definitely try the Chicken Ridiculous Sandwich, on a bagel, a roll, whatever. Just get it, periodt.

Yelp
If you grew up in this part of Brooklyn, then you remember when the Chicken Delicious was a secret menu item. Well, secret's out! And probably has been for a while (showing my age here). For the uninitiated, it's a chicken cutlet with bacon, mozz, and veggies. And it's damn good! Get it on a bagel or a roll. Their roast beef and gravy hero is also not to be overlooked. There was also a day we went pretty nuts with the chicken heros, and got the Chicken Ridiculous, chicken parm, and the grilled chicken and broccoli rabe. All very good! The freshness of the rolls/bagels can be hit or miss depending on the time of day/day of the week, but hey, it's a pandemic. They also sell rainbow bagels, if you're into Instagram food memes.
google avatar

Louise L.

Yelp
Wouldn't know how the bagels or coffee are at this place as they have no interest in taking customers. I called several times but no one answered so I walked over assuming they would be busy but not a single customer in sight. See the photo below for reference. Four workers were there just standing and five minutes went by... And still not a greeting or asking what I needed. Management needs to reevaluate who they have running their business as customer service was not only terrible but non-existent. Another customer walked in after me and had the same experience. We both left empty handed. Terrible!

Yelp
First time here and many more to come. Service is phenomenal ! Social distancing encouraged with signs. Friendly, helpful staff ...service is quick. Food delicious, fresh soft danish... kept it pretty light and basic. I explored the menu, I will definitely kick it up a notch and live on the edge next time around. I did not get the name of the young man who provided the fantastic service... next review I will shout him out though. P.S I only spent $9... bagel with cream cheese, French vanilla iced coffee, cheese danish, and a pack of mentos !!!!!!! This place is a WINNER !!!!

Yelp
Living in south Brooklyn, when people visit I had no idea where to get them NYC bagels but I think I've found a spot now! Dyker Park Bagels definitely has all the bagels a tourist could ask for, including a rainbow bagel for $2.75. Their regular bagels are $1.25 each but if you're looking for something special, try their specialty sun dried tomato bagel for $1.50. With everything so cheap, it's a cash-only spot. They've got an ATM inside if you need! Quick grab n' spot for bagels
google avatar

Vinny ..

Yelp
Worst bagel I've had in a long time. Went in around 9am, got a bagel with veggie cream cheese ($5) and it tasted like the bagel was made the day before. Rock hard and wayyy too much cream cheese. I ate half of half and threw the rest out my car window into a dumpster. Never again.
google avatar

Yelp
Born and raised in Brooklyn and this is my go to bagel shop. All the best meats and delicious bagels. I'm a huge fan of the lox sandwich. Service is always fast and the place is spotless inside.

JonPaul M.

Yelp
I ordered the chicken ridiculous sandwich and split it with my girlfriend. We both ended up getting sick from it. The food must have been contaminated. We both were nauseous all night and even threw up. Not ordering from here again. Do better.
google avatar

Nella B.

Yelp
Great neighborhood place . Bagels are always great and fresh. Coffee delicious as well . They make a great sandwich also . They're not cheap but the good worth it .

Gina A.

Yelp
Dissatisfied lately New staff is nothing like the old staffers Hopeful it will turn around
google avatar

Karmen C.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. Placed my order and the dude left as he was in the process of completing my order. I followed up with another lady who then searched for my bagel and asked if the bagel was too burnt. How do you run a bagel shop and burn a bagel? The whole surface was BLACK. I then answered "yes, it's too burnt" and she immediately tossed the bagel away. Didn't even attempt to remake my order and carried onto someone else's order. I was standing there waiting for a few minutes without any acknowledgement so I just stormed out empty handed. Wasted my time and I will not feed garbage business my money. Never going to step foot into this bagel shop again.
google avatar

Rys M.

Yelp
Dyker bagels. $5 for two bagels with nothing on it and a small cup of coffee? And the bagels are stale. Stay away from this place they used to be so much better.
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
It was our first day back in America after being away for two years. We were CRAVING bagels. Where we were living, they didn't make fresh ones and we were surviving with those stale, frozen ones...blech! I got the rainbow bagel with egg, cheese, and sausage...and it was the best thing I ate in 2 years. I ended up going back to the bakery to buy a dozen bagels for my family in Pennsylvania so they could enjoy it. I also ended up getting an Apple Turnover, and it was the best turnover I ever had. The vanilla glaze on it sent me to another dimension.
google avatar

Jenny M.

Yelp
This place makes their own bagels fresh daily! The product is delicious. Something about their cream cheese on a toasted bagel makes it so melty. However, their prices are higher than most. If you don't ask for toasted, they will not toast it; they also charge for toasting. A plain cream cheese toasted bagel is roughly 3$. Sadly, they do not have deals for a dozen bagels like most places. Their service can be fast or slow, depending on the worker. This can be a gamble if you're short on time or waiting for the express bus to go to the city. Otherwise, the selection is vast of pastries and spreads.
google avatar

Jeannie E.

Yelp
Always patient, friendly service. Clean, fully stocked, and fresh. Chicken Ridiculous on a toasted sesame is the go, but on an empty stomach. I couldn't finish the whole thing, mainly because I also ordered a cheesecake which I ate first. Honestly, I think it's even better the next day.
google avatar

Mariana J.

Yelp
My go to bagel spot! They're rainbow bagel with rainbow cream cheese is a vibe. It's my kids favorite. I like Tao now bagel with plain cream cheese or a pumpernickel bagel with jalapeño cream cheese.
google avatar

Cristina G.

Yelp
The Chicken Ridic cannot be beat. Get it on a roll, a hero, or a wrap - it doesn't matter. Any way you order it, it's the best thing on the menu. Man, I miss eating dairy (it comes with fresh mozzarella on it). But even if you order this sandwich without it, it's JUST. SO. GOOD. For other cold cuts and pre-cooked food like chicken nuggets, cutlets, etc - the food is always spot-on. Not your typical bagel store. This is the real deal. You'll get the full Brooklyn bagel shop experience. Fun fact: they're open 24 hours for late night eats. Perfect to satisfy your cravings after a night out. The locals know the deal. HIGHLY recommend.
google avatar

Jaclyn C.

Yelp
I was dying one morning because I was running late to work. I didn't eat - I didn't pack lunch and I was starving. I double parked and ran into this place. As others have mentioned, there is no order as to who is next in line. I ordered a plain bagel with egg and American cheese and it came out to $3.75. Seriously? They have a sign by the cashier that due to the increase in the price of eggs, every egg sandwich will get charged an extra $0.75. Okay, I understand that, but paying almost $4 for an egg sandwich without meat had me a little surprised. The bagel was okay; nothing I would go outta my way for though. It was great for the convenience, but that was pretty much it.
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
This is a really good bagel joint. Perfect Bagel. Lots of different bagels and lots of different cream cheeses. A huge selection of salads and cold cuts. Good coffee. OMG try the coffee cake squares!
google avatar

Keyawnia R.

Yelp
The chicken Ridiculous was a good sandwich. Good flavors, great establishment but too expensive. I didn't have the sandwich in its traditional sense... I did my own remix and I was over the moon. For $11 I can honestly say I did have better...
google avatar

Alex D.

Yelp
This place is around for years. Nothing special just a plain bagel store with a bunch of angry workers. I went a k to this place after a long time. The counter worker just looked at me. No hello or don't suppose to say (yes may I help you ) Awww well

Patricia P.

Yelp
These are the best bagels & coffee I've ever had.. customer service is great they get you in and out
google avatar

Natalia R.

Yelp
The line was short. I was out in about 25 min! Coffee and a bagel took that long! Both the coffee and the bagel were average. Nothing special. Decent location right by dyker beach. Tough parking. Gunna look for a different place next time I'm in the area.
google avatar

Daisy C.

Yelp
Pretty good bagels (but nothing amazing) but their star is the chicken ridiculous sandwich! If you order it, you should probably expect a bit of a mess but that's okay cause it's ridiculous for a reason. I really appreciate the fact that the chicken wasn't rubbery or dry. The mozzarella and bacon were perfect compliments to the chicken.
google avatar

Evita B.

Yelp
Friendly staff, fresh bagel, good tuna. Parking pretty terrible and place gets pretty busy. A bit on the pricier side but I guess that comes with quality in the area.
google avatar

Saif N.

Yelp
Worst place ever over priced for no reason really bad food it use to be better a couple of years ago
google avatar

Rachel O.

Yelp
I'm shocked at the prices. My turkey & cheese bagel was $7.70 I don't even pay that much for a bagel in Manhattan. If you're charging Manhattan prices, the quality and taste of the bagels should at least match the outrageous pricing.
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
Loveeee. Order here a lot and no complaints. Bagels are good, people are friendly, fast service.
google avatar

Wliliam L.

Yelp
Wouldn't know how their bagels taste because I never got a chance to taste them. 8AM. Monday. I walked in, there's a line of 4-5 customers and there's no one behind the cash register, no one behind the counter, just a lady making a sandwich while hiding in the corner. No one is informing the customer, greeting the customer..... everyone waiting on the line looked lost.... the place is well lit and clean but it feels dead. I thought Monday mornings would be golden hours for business ? I walked out after a few minutes, Sorry. Doesn't matter how delicious you are but if your service is lacking, no one will get to taste it. I came to this spot because I drive by it every morning on my way to work so today I finally decided to give it a try..... lol. What a mistake. I should have went out of my way and go to my regular spot tasty bagels. Tasty bagel up the road has 3-4 guys in the counter at all time!!!! Fresh, friendly, courteous, fast and delicious.
google avatar

Beatrice G.

Yelp
Alright, Alright, Alright. The only reason why I go to Dyker Bagels is for one thing and one thing only ...... THE CHICKEN RIDIC. Now me and The Chicken Ridic has had many a moments. I have been getting a chicken ridic since I was in middle school, so I suppose there's a loyalty but thats for a reason. So what is The Chicken Ridic- you choose if you want it on a roll, hero, wrap, or bagel ... personally I get a poppy seed roll or an everything bagel. So it is fried chicken, fresh mozzarella, bacon, lettuce, tomato, oil, vinegar, salt & pepper. Sounds simple, but it honestly satisfies every craving your mouth can desire. You know the sandwich is good when after a long night out in the city ( I'm talking an ungodly hour in the morning) and you ask the cab driver to stop at Dyker Bagel and you get yourself and the driver a sandwich. Yeah. That good.
google avatar

Josephine Z.

Yelp
This deli has been here for years, is 24/7, and its bagels are RIGHTEOUS. There is nothing NOT Brooklyn about this place--Brooklyn accents, smiling faces, and bagels stacked with a mountain of cream cheese. I have come here many late nights, groggy early mornings, and midday monstrous cravings to order a sandwich, with options beyond your imagination. Cold cuts piled high? You got it. A bagel with 4 servings of cream cheese? It's yours. You name it! The prices are a little steeper than other bagel joints, but that's the only downside. There's many bagel stores in Brooklyn, but this is my favorite.
google avatar

Louis P.

Yelp
I get bagels here when i have guests in for my show. The price of bagels have really gone up in recent years, a bakers dozen costs 12 bucks! I remember when they were half that price! Don't forget you will get a "surcharge" if you asked for a sliced bagel with a spread. Either way, the bagels are still excellent and they will be honest with you of the bagels are hot, fresh, a couple of hours old or a half day old. I enjoy the new bagel flavors like jalepeno and blueberry. They have a bacon cheddar cream chease speread that is a heart attack in the making but tastes amazing.
google avatar

Marlena K.

Yelp
MAIN POINTS: CASH ONLY. No sit down tables inside. If you ask them to warm up your mozzarella sticks they will be microwaved. The reason I come to this place is for there chicken ridiculous which is my four star rating!!! This hero or roll(I get it on a hero) comes with chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, tomato, lettuce, bacon, vinegar, optional mayo! Its the most filling amazing hero! Almost impossible to consume the whole hero in one siting alone. Customer service is really nice! They are very helpful! Other than the chicken ridiculous the mozzarella sticks are average wouldn't buy them again!

Yelp
This Brooklyn Bagel store near the Verranzano bridge satisfies my Brooklyn Bagel craving. Lovely, well done bagels and alot of variety. Egg/onion- yum. Went with the egg onion and took a salted bagel to go. The store is down the block from my BayRidge Animal Clinic and is a busy store. The counter person smeared my bagel with the most generous smear ever......loved that. The bagels here have a good crunch and flavor...Brooklyn.Bagel Love!
