It is interesting how color affects our taste buds, and also our appetite. With so many food made for photos nowadays, it gets our curiosities high, and expectation of a good time also high. I have been wanting to try out Dylan’s Candy Bar since I have seen some yummy looking photos. This is a candy shop with restaurant on the upper floor. After we explored the entire store, two stories of them, it was time for the Dylan’s Candy Café & Bar to be open. The inside was nice and bright with lots of natural light coming in, with the wall facing the street covered with window. The interior was as whimsical as their shop downstairs. We ordered cocktails to go with our brunch, Tropical Splash and Toasted Marshmallow. We were told that the bartender was out, and that the manager was making the drinks. And he felt that the torch that is used for marshmallow is leaking gas… so he had to make it without torching them. Disappointing... They were both tasty though. For food, we ordered Beer-Battered Fish Tacos and Mega Burger. To be honest, I didn't expect much from this touristy spot, but they surprised me in a good way. They were actually really good and tasty. Then we ended with a humongous dessert, Best of Both Worlds. It was really big, really sweet, rich and decadent. I don't want to know how much calorie that thing has... We certainly got more than enough sugar for the day (or for a week). We enjoyed it regardless. Service was REALLY slow, even though it was not so busy. We didn’t really see our waitress much the whole time we were there. She was very nice and friendly, just not efficient. We asked for refill on water, and she completely forgotten about it. We finally got water maybe 30 minutes later… The food and dessert also took a long time to come out. When the restaurant is not busy at all, I don’t know why it takes so long to prepare the food. It took a long time to have our brunch because of the slow service. Other than that, we had a good brunch. Read my full review of the restaurant and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl.

Google
A very interesting store with a wide variety of candy. The displays are great and the merchandise is very unique. You can buy in bulk bags for convenience. Half a pound costs $7.99. Hope this helps!

Google
This is a three story candy store that sells not only candy, but cookies, ice cream and even liquor. The employees were friendly and helpful. The stores sells many different types of candy and many flavors. There were also many different sizes, for instance we saw mini jaw breakers all the way up to a collosal Jase breakers.

Google
You can buy almost any type of candy here including imported candy and chocolate although it can be very expensive. An aero bar cost approx $3.50 plus tax, in the UK it costs approx £0.80 including tax. They have a good selection of branded merchandise available but it can be quite expensive once tax is added. Overall a good shop to visit if you have a sweet tooth.

Google
If you haven't been, just visit. It's an experience. Epic selection, kids love it, not too expensive, no obvious product placement or cashing in. This is a place that does exactly what it says on the tin and does a great job of it. Over the top bombastic decor and displays are great. The staff are all friendly as well.

Google
The place has full of goodies, even though they're pricey, and have gifts from clothing to toys. The place is very colorful and upbeat. Definitely a perfect place for a family to visit and get a treat (even if you don't buy anything!). The upper level is where you can have a party with a bar and ice cream. Very fun!

Google
Super friendly staff! Amazing selection of candy. A but overpriced for much of the candy, but we all know it's because of the name attached. Love the cotton candy made fresh in front of you and the bakery....everyone was really sweet and helpful.

If you came to Times Square and have a sweet tooth, visit Dylans Candy Bar. You will not be disappointed. Three floors of yum. The giant candy flosses are so good and you are spoilt for choice in sweets. The cafe upstairs is fantastic and the food was delicious. You can literally spend hours in here it is a sweetie lovers heaven.

Yelp
I took my daughter to NYC for her 10th birthday and one of our must-go stops was to Dylan's Candy Bar. It's three levels of candy, candy, and more candy. They have current and old school candy along with a lovely selection of chocolates and cookies downstairs. The employees working on the floor are super friendly and when the gentleman heard it was my daughter's birthday he gave her a few samples which made her feel special. I'm sure they do that for a lot of people but she loved it. The highlight was finding a little candy jar with her name on it. Her names is somewhat unique, so we had to buy it and stuff it will candy. We had a great experience exploring the store. They also have a restaurant. We had reservations elsewhere for lunch but would love to go back and try the food.

Yelp
I came here recently to get some candy for a lazy weekend in. The store had a subdue buzzed vibe with a few adults walking around looking for treats. I saw probably 3 kids which is surprising in a candy store. I been to this location a few times and I noticed they updated their layout and product offerings. The cafe was closed but, the main floor and basement was open. The bulk candy came in prepackaged foil packets which is great because less contamination but, not so great if you wanted to make your candy mix. The staff was okay but, my cashier was cheerful and friendly. The products are a bit expensive and they do sell things you can get the drugstore for a lot cheaper but, occasionally they do have sales or bulk discount (ie, 5 bars for $25).

Yelp
If you go here, PLEASE GO FOR DANA'S BAKERY. PLEASE. I got: - 4 Macarons (Red Velvet, Birthday Cake, Strawberry Shortcake, Cotton Candy) - Black and White Rainbow Cookie - Chocolate Chip Mookie Oh my gosh...12/10. The outstanding things: Red Velvet Macaron & Cookie. AMAZING. So soft and so flavorful and delectable and amazing. I cannot day enough good things about these. Everything though tasted remarkable and I highly recommend y'all try everything.

Yelp
It's a cute spot for children. Thank the heavens my son doesn't like candy but he enjoyed the ambience. We dined in for my Goddaughter birthday. My son had the buffalo wings worh fries and I just had 2 drinks, the mad hatters long island ice tea and I cant really remember the 2nd one. Something like tropical splash. Both were weak even though I hinted to the server to hook me up. The place wasnt crowded. It's super colorful. The service was cool. There 3 levels. The top is where you can sit and eat, the ground level has a few candies and souvenirs and the lower level has baked goods, more candies and sweets.

Yelp
I joined the free Candy Sampling Tour that happens here every Tuesday's and Thursday's at 4pm and 5pm, where you get to explore the store, learn sweet new facts, and sample delicious candy!! It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be!! I never knew they had so many different corners and themes and collections!! I was really just overjoyed being in a candy store with so much to see!! The best part is you get to sample candy of your choice!!! I had so much fun and you even get to enjoy 10% off your purchase after the tour!!

Yelp
I stopped by Dylans on my way to the Tram station. It's always been a fun if albeit pricey stop. In the past I would pickup an assortment bag of pricey candy but I wanted 10 or so different pieces vs buying 10 bags of assorted candy. Now in the time of Covid all of the bags are prepackaged and you can't create your own which dims the experience. The customer service is fab but I miss making your own goody bag

Yelp
I had eaten here two years ago and absolutely loved it so I just had to return when back in NYC this weekend. I was sadly disappointed and no longer feel compelled to make it a must repeat when visiting in the future. Pros: *its fun and exciting to visit *the dining room is a candy paradise *the staff are friendly *they accommodated my request for a cupcake booth on a Friday evening Cons: *I returned to order the breakfast of champions and was expecting the same dish I ordered two years ago... the same dish that is currently described in their menu online. Unfortunately I received a dish that wasn't even close to the description and was told they changed it recently *The entire restaurant is incredibly filthy. They need a new cleaning crew... or just a cleaning crew in general. With the amount grime and dirt caked in the walls, the entire restaurant could use a scrub down and repaint It's worth a visit if you've never been - if you can get past the dirty-ness.

Yelp
3.5 stars here for value 4 stars for cleanliness 5 stars for options and selections I love the idea of a candy bar store and Dylan's covers a lot of candy options. My only complaint is the value...some stuff is premium / nicer quality and some are not but overall still quite pricey. So while I am a fan of the store - not a fan of the price points. Also, note to management, not everything is priced (not label). That gets annoying because when shopping, I can't run around grabbing stuff not knowing what it'll cost in the end. What is outstanding: LOTS of variety of candy and the whole store is so fun just to walk through. Where else can you find FAO Chocolates, all colors of M&M's, and Unicorn Poop? LOL So fun. I also want that ginormous Chocolate Bunny that sits near one of the entrances - not to eat, but to have on display at home. So friggin' cool. I've secretly always wanted to do a birthday party there for my kids but after moving out of the city, it just wasn't logistically practical. But a cool private party space is available. Love this store and the selection of novelty toys/accessories. That keeps it interesting.

Yelp
Always a good ol' stand by. Both my kids love this place- pre teen and teen. This time they had a game sponsored by Twix (I am assuming) and they did a "headbands" type of game where you had to ask a question and guess the candy! It was fun- and each of us got a Twix bar! I bought my son $10 worth of candy to which he promptly lost it ! He is 11 and sometimes gets absent minded (or he is playing on his phone too much) fortunately for him we literally bumped into my cousin and he felt bad so he bought his some more candy (only $6 worth)! They have sale items downstairs but nothing we wanted. We also entered into a contest on instagram point maybe we would win! Someone's got to! It's not too rich for my taste (higher than a drugstore) but ira dun to come to doe a kid! All the colors are vibrant and you can't resist!

Yelp
This is a review from the POV of a 26 year old who took her 27 year old brother out for his birthday. First off I would recommend making a reservation on Resy because it's very hard to reach the cafe on the phone;'reservation process online was smooth and I confirmed via text. Our waitress and all the staff were very kind and accommodating. One thing I will say is that online they say the cupcake booth are "first come first serve" (see photos) upon arrival there were two open however we were denied them because they were "reserved for other parties"....howeve it is that makes sense. Nevertheless we enjoyed ourselves at a regular booth. We ordered Goblets which were delicious and very strong might I add. Our food was delicious as well we both had fries as well as hot wings and chicken quesadillas. The staff enthusiastically sang my brother happy birthday and the Cookie Demolision was amazing. Tip: make a reservation they were only taking reservations when we went on a Saturday night. We went to the Sugar Factory and I can truly say we enjoyed how much more laid back and fun our experience at Dylan's was'

Yelp
This place is decent. I didn't really want to dine there though. I thought We would, but Blacktap is the place for an amazing shake! Tons of candy, nicely displayed. Certain parts of the store I felt like we're pretty dirty and could use someone cleaning all day since they get so much traffic in there. Spent $10 in candy and got just a little bit of stuff. Pricey.

Yelp
I Remember going to Dylans Candy Bar as a kid, and I am so happy that there are still locations here in New York. If you want to feel nostalgic just step right in front of a Dylans and you will immediately be hit with the aroma of your childhood. The selection of candy is HUGE, and they have a wall JUST DEDICATED TO GUMMY BEARS...I repeat. Gummy. Bears. I love that you can mix and match candies and it goes by the weight of the bag. I came here to do a review for my blog, and the workers were very accommodating and friendly. Note: even though they were closing in 30 minutes they were still friendly, that's an important thing to have within your staff. I also really enjoyed their milkshake section too! if you get one, most definitely try the smores, it is delicious! Overall, love this place still! I could only come here now and then because I'd just be broke from buying too much..but great place!

Yelp
Came here for lunch and some fun drinks this past weekend. Place was empty, only one other table there besides us. Pretty small dinning area. I got the Island Drink to start and my friend got the creamsicle float. We shared the pretzel appetizer along with the margarita flatbread. Both were perfect sizes and enough to fill me up for lunch. Service left a little less to be desired but didn't make or break my experience. Dylan's Candy bar is a tourist attraction but we were starving and this was the first place we saw, that didn't have a crazy wait which is why we ended up here.

Yelp
I'm sadden to find out that the upstairs restaurant has been replaced. I was told that over the summer of 2019 it was shut down & remodeled into a cafe that serves ice cream and desserts. A few years back I did one of my niece's birthday here, we enjoyed ourselves as well as the food & ambiance. But coming today put a smile on my face being that Santa was in town! Still a load of candy that can put a smile on any kid's face.

Yelp
The Quick: Bar upstairs with happy hour until late- YES PLEASE! The Details: The Candy is obviously overpriced, but they have an amazing selection and lots of fun toys and clothing. What I love is the bar upstairs. Lots of sugary and boozy cocktails and small bites with a decent happy hour specials. There's just something naughty about drinking in a candy shop... they also let you reserve the space if you guarantee a small minimum. The Damage: $6 wines and select cocktails on happy hour, $10-$13 flatbreads.

Yelp
I remember when this place first opened. I walked with my friend from Port Authority to this place. It was before smartphones so we were just wandering and trying to find someone that was not a tourist to show us the way. When it first opened, it had a chocolate fountain and a bathtub filled with gumballs. Today, it is more like your typical candy store. Just a bit overdid. The candies are overly priced and there isn't anything extravagant for you to feel like you have to make the trip there. However, if you have children or a relative visiting from out of town, go upstairs to the cafe. The seats are shaped like cupcakes and it is really cute. They used to sell Crumbs cupcake (boy does that take me back), but now I am not sure what they have. Downstairs, to your right, there is a bakery called Dana's bakery. They are known for their mookies. Cookies with macaron in the middle. This may be worth the trip if you want something different. For me, I think I will stop by once in a while or when I am in the area. The staff is super nice and they hand out samples where ever you walk.If you are like me and like something sweet after a meal, just pop in and ask for samples? Sorry... I was raised by a nanny who is quite a klepto.

Yelp
Like an immature adult in a candy store... Yes it's a tourist trap ... Yes it's for kids ...No my metabolism isn't fast enough for this place. But don't candy stores always conjure up magical times for you? .... Christmas, Halloween, Easter...willy wonka and the chocolate factory (not a holiday, I realize but you get the idea.) The flagship store that is the candy brain child of Dylan Lauren (Ralph's daughter) is filled with 4 floors of every type of candy/candy products/ candy clothing you can imagine. There's even a 4th floor bar restaurant with some sort of blue Curacao drink with swedish fish in the bottom and another with rock candy. It took all the willpower and adult in me to not go order one. Be aware that nostalgia doesn't extend to the prices. The nickel priced Now and Laters of my youth were replaced with a "That comes to $9.29, ma'am" bag from the bulk bins. Really a happy place though.

Yelp
I came to this location SOLELY to hit up Dana's Bakery which is located on their bottom floor. I've been stalking their baked treats for a minute :P Dana's Bakery has gluten-free black & white cookies, cookies, macarons and their signature mookies which is a macaron in a cookie. AND EVERYTHING is gluten-free! I was in heaven! I ordered a rainbow black & white cookie, a chocolate chip mookie (with a chocolate molten macaron inside), a funfetti mookie (not sure what macaron it was inside but this was my FAVORITE OMG) and a cookies and cream cookie. The funfetti mookie was my absolutely FAVORITE. The black & white is definitely my old favorite style of cookie, but the rainbow dye kind of threw off the flavor for me. I wish there were more locations for Dana's Bakery! This Dylan's Candy Bar just did not feel very clean (all the sticky kids running around) definitely took away from my excitement to finally try Dana's Bakery treats. Hopefully I'll get some more Dana's Bakery sometime soon :P

Yelp
Good gracious, two floors full of chocolate, chocolate covered goodies, gummy bears, fresh cotton candy, fudge, gummy bears/fish, giant lollipops & gumballs, candy popcorn, candy pajamas, etc..... They have definitely covered every kind of sweet there is. A third floor cafe was unexplored as the two floors I did explore were already enough money and time spent. This is either a candy aficionado's fantastic dream or worst nightmare for the upcoming diabetic diagnosis. Thankfully I don't live that close to nor is Dylan's easy for me to get to. My wallet is also definitely for the better. My visit to Dylan's was eye popping at the register as well! Keep that in mind as you fill your bags and cart with sweets. Hahah. This is surely a place to experience and indulge, even if the experience and indulgence is far and few in between.

Yelp
Be ready to satisfy your sweet tooth! Huge selection of chocolates, gummies and other candies sold by weight. Everywhere you look candy and candy merchandise fills every square inch of this place. Don't miss the chocolate fountain downstairs and a large assortment of retro candy from when you were a kid. The music in this place and the smell of sweets just heightens the experience and brings smiles and happiness to all the shoppers. How can you not buy something when you are there?

Yelp
I found a deal for $49 for two entrees, two cocktails, and a dessert on pulsd so I bought it as a surprise dinner for my fiance since I never pay for dinner! The deal says you must make a reservation over the phone but I called 6 times and got a full voicemail so I just made a reservation on Opentable and it was not a problem! Decor: When you walk in on ground level you enter into the Dylan's candy store which is always so colorful and cute! To get to the cafe, you must walk the upstairs. As you walk up you get a delicious smell of sweetness! At the top of the stiars, there is a dessert bar where it looks like you can order ice cream. Once you get upstairs it is decorated so cute! There are three large cupcake tables which we sat at one first but moved because it was dirty but I will explain that later. The walls are stripped in pink and blue and the bar is decorated as well. Overall, it is eye catching and even as an adult it makes you feel like you've landed in the board game CandyLand. Cleanliness: If the food wasn't good I would have given 1 star for how dirty it was! The first cupcake table we were sat at was so filthy. The booth had crumbs all over it and the tabletop was a mess with old sprinkles, crumbs, and food. The floor underneath the table had garbage under it as well. Even though I wanted to sit in the adorable cupcake booth, I needed to move because I could not eat in such a mess! My fiance and I ended up moving to a high top table that the server cleaned before we sat at it. The restaurant was also very empty. Maybe two other tables had people at it so there is NO excuse for it to be dirty! Food: I am glad we came because the food was so good! We ordered the goblet with prosecco and raspberry vodka to share. It came out quickly and it was pretty good! For our entrees, we ordered the mega burger and the cobb salad. The mega burger may be one of my favorite burgers! Not only was it huge and a great portion size, the meat was so juicy and tender!!! The cobb salad was also a great portion size and was decked out in toppings such as avocado, chicken, tomatoes, bacon, and blue cheese. We shared both entrees and they were both delicious and filling! Service: Our waiter was extremely friendly and nice. He did go missing a few times and we didn't see him for a while but I read that the service was very slow so I knew what to expect. I saw that other tables were getting angry (not without waiter) because the service was very slow. I would like to go back here but they really need to improve on the cleanliness and service. Once they do that I think they will get much better reviews and have a packed house! I would love to see this place thrive! It is so cute and it great for adults and kids!!

Yelp
I came here on a Monday afternoon at about 3pm. This place is interesting. They have an equal amount of pre-packaged and bulk treats. I'm a big fan of bulk things by weight, because I prefer to try 1 piece of almost every candy. I don't like having to buy a big bag of the same candy. They have a yelp check-in offer of BOGO Crack Cookies. I decided against it because they were expensive. $13 for 1 package. Even 2 for 1, halving the price, is really expensive. They're just a 4-ounce package (113 grams) of a cracker, toffee, sea salt, and chocolate. The pricing is a little weird. The advertised price for the bulk weight candy is $7.99 per half pound. But they charge $15.99 per pound. $7.99 x 2 is actually $15.98. So their pricing is slightly inaccurate, and higher than they advertise. Not a big deal, but if you can be accurate, why not just be accurate? The bulk candy is quite diverse and there were a lot of treats I hadn't seen before. Milk and White Chocolate Covered Gummy Bears, Cookies & Cream Caramels, Piña Colada Licorice Twist. They have Champagne Gummy Bears that rival Sugarfina's fancy gummy bears. Come here if you want the fancy bears with a lower price tag. Sugarfina's are imported from Germany and, in a small cube size, cost about $32/lb. If you buy their 2.5 lb bulk bag, they cost about $18/lb. Their bulk bag ends up being close to Dylan's price at $15.99/lb. The store seems a little unorganized. The bulk candy is put willy nilly. Most of it is on the ground floor. Some others are on the lower level. It would be nice if they were all together, and even organized alphabetically, or by color for aesthetic. The Jelly Bean wall on the lower level looks nice, but I couldn't find a price, or bags to fill.
google avatar

Yelp
This was a cute little place. I'm only giving it 4 stars for two reasons: 1: The candy was so overpriced, in my opinion. It was $7.99 for 1/4 pound of bulk candy (which doesn't equate to much at all considering the different kinds of candy they have). 2: The containers they had available outside of just the bags provided for the candy was $8.99, separate from the cost of the candy. Outside of these two things, you also have to keep in mind that you are in NEW YORK, one of the more expensive states in the country. The restaurant on the second floor was cute and had some really fun drinks and cocktails that had pieces of candy in them, so that was a plus. All in all, I probably wouldn't return unless I was with a child no younger than 7 or 8 or a teenager. Or someone who LOVED candy, which is not myself. Either way, I might recommend this to someone looking for something to do or somewhere to go that wasn't big and constantly overcrowded with tourist.

Yelp
Reminds me of something out of Charlie and the chocolate factory. If you like sugary treats this is the place to spend your money. I actually purchased a bit of items that I liked and that we thought grandkids would enjoy. It is a very colorful and delightful place for everyone and the staff is very helpful with finding the treats you are unable to locate.

Yelp
Enjoyed my app and cocktail upstairs at the bar today. Service was exceptionally provided by Miguel, who ensured that everything was well. He made an excellent drink recommendation and was friendly and attentive. All of the employees seem genuinely happy and its much appreciated.

Yelp
My group came here since Serendipity was a long wait as usual. Wasn't expecting much at Dylan's, I thought it was just your typical candy store with unique items and lots of colors. But I assumed incorrectly. One of the finest Candy Store establishments ever. 3 floors of goodies! Atmosphere: The main floor (2nd floor) - as you walk in candy galore The bottom floor (1st floor) - nostalgic vintage candy along with displays of celebrity favorites. The top floor (3rd floor) - ice cream parlor, cafe, and full bar. Drinks: tried.. DRUNKEN SOUR PATCH® Banks Rum, Sorel, Galliano, lime & pineapple (refreshing. tasty. almost like a lemonade with a hint of pineapple) NERDY MOJITO Bacardi Rum, mint, lime & a splash of soda, garnished with purple Nerds® CREAMSICLE FLOAT Absolut Vanilla Vodka, Triple Sec, orange juice, soda & Vanilla ice cream (creamy light. like a 50/50 bar but more on the orange tangy side) THE CHOCOHOLIC Pinnacle Whipped Chocolate Vodka, Van Gogh Dark Chocolate Vodka, Creme de Cacao & a touch of cream (like chocolate milk. that dark chocolate vodka was delicious) very creative creations when it comes to their cocktails but expensive at $12 a drink Service: Only one bar tender making drinks. fast to place order but took at least 15mins for drinks to get to the table. had to flag down for water. wasn't busy during 930pm. although friendly service. **reservations available for the cafe Overall: Nostalgic place to visit. Awesome decor. Lots and lots of vintage/ current candy/ chocolate. A cafe at the top if you're hungry (small bites) and an awesome bar with TV's but pricey drinks but worth the try.

Yelp
This is a review for the service upstairs. As someone who doesn't enjoy the taste the alcohol very much, I am somehow still motivated to try different drinks. Our server was extremely nice and polite. He offered to make my drink more sweet and sour. Unfortunately I still didn't love it but that was expected. That's my own problem and nobody elses. It's the treatment received that matters. I ordered a drink with sour patches (I don't remember what it's called). The presentation was cute. My sister ordered a mock one with lemon. It was very good. I should get that next time instead of trying alcohol. We also ordered an ice cream which was yummy as well. I am extremely satisfied with everything here and will definitely come back.

Yelp
Today I was walking by the Apple Store across from the Plaza. This nice girl and the Dylan's Rabbit were giving out 10% off cards. I asked when it expired and she said 12/31. i took one and when I arrived home I noticed the card said 12/31/14. In all fairness she did say they will honor it when ever you bring it in. I have been in to Dylan's. It is very popular with tourists, and children naturally. I was going in this past weekend when I saw the crowds. It is another store where you need to arrive when they open. They get really busy. It gets very hard to maneuver through the crowds to see everything and to purchase. I love the seasonal decorations and one of a kind gift ideas. I usually take pictures of the windows. They celebrate special events with window displays. I've posted a couple of my pictures. If you're here visiting the city and love candy, this is the place to go. it's very close to shopping of all kinds. Just remember to get there early. Bring your camera to get a picture of the rabbit! I'll be going one day when they first open to use my 10% off. If you read this and are in the neighborhood of the Apple Store they may still be out front giving out the 10% off cards. Look for the big Rabbit! I've posted a copy of the card here in case they take a copy!! Do a screen shot!!

Yelp
I believe Willy Wonka just threw up on me....either that or the interior decorator went overboard with his color wheel when designing this overly cheerful confectionery. The problem is that it doesn't feel like the happiest place on the earth....more like a cheerleading camp for the lobotomized. Yes, I do understand that the place is targeted squarely at children, but it sure doesn't appeal to the kid in me...or whatever is left of that Baskin-Robbins-obsessed kid I was. I will admit I came here because Serendipity down the street was packed last Sunday due to Mother's Day, and I needed something cold to ward off the hot weather. The brightly lit, robust menu here had a number of appetizing choices, and an endless line of eager children and parents waiting their turn. I went with the $4 Root Beer Float. The young server scooped it up for me, but then there was another considerable line waiting for the cashier to be available. By the time I paid, the bubbles fizzled down into a half-empty plastic cup of melted ice cream swimming sadly in a pool of very flat root beer. I downed it in four gulps, as I was strolling through the two floors of sugary confections and related paraphernalia. I doubt even Willy Wonka could make magic out of a place so manufactured, but I imagine indiscriminate parents may find a temporary distraction for their hyperactive kids. ICE CREAM - 2 stars...a sadly lacking float makes Ed a very feisty curmudgeon AMBIANCE - 2 stars...like being on the set of Captain Kangaroo...if he was on acid SERVICE - 2 stars...robotic...and slow as molasses TOTAL - 2 stars...I guess I'll just wait for those moms to finish their sundaes at Serendipity next year

Yelp
I remember attending the grand opening of Dylan's Candy Bar when the store opened in the Grove. During my first visit to NYC, I was absolutely ecstatic that I would get to visit the original candy store! Entering into Dylan's Candy Bar NYC is like entering a gourmet Willy Wonka. The main entrance (which is the second floor) reminded me a lot of the Grove store. There's the "candy bar" area where you can fill up your bag of chocolate treats, and there was a lot of the candy packs and individual candy bars on this level. There's also that larger-than-life chocolate bunny that greets you as soon as you walk in. I was already overwhelmed because this store seemed so much bigger! ... and then you go downstairs, and your mind is about to be blown even MORE. Not only did the store have a fudge bar (where you can pick different goodies and get them dipped in fudge), but they also had a color themed candy section, where all the candies of different colors are separated (like the rainbow), so you can pick what you like (by color). There's also the candy hall of fame (we didn't have too much time, so I just glanced briefly at the wall to see what celebrities' favorite candies were), and a lot of the candy-themed accessories were on this floor as well. I only had 20-30 minutes to shop, so I had to make it quick! It was definitely worth getting the exclusive candy bars from Dylan's - they're located on the second (main) level and just look for the "exclusive" sign. During my visit, there were candy bars with pop rocks in them (for Fourth of July coming up), as well as an intriguing maple bacon flavor (that was exclusive). There are a lot of different chocolate varieties; I would also take advantage of the discounts (I think there's a slight discount if you buy four). Also pay attention for other discounts and sales throughout the store -- I was able to get some of the other candy bars on sale because they were Memorial Day-themed (and we were there on Memorial Day). If I ever return to this Dylan's, I definitely want to get some treats from the fudge bar next time ... all the fudge and chocolate-dipped treats looked so yummy! My boyfriend's favorite part of the store was having access to all the "old school" and retro candies that you can hardly find anymore on store shelves. He even got a small bag of candy to keep him going throughout our day (we made the mistake of coming here when we were starving, so everything looked yummy). But, he made his stash last (seriously one candy per day) for the duration of our entire East Coast trip!

Yelp
Stepped into this place with my teens and was immediately flooded with kids/music/colors. At first, it seemed like a happy Willy Wonka adventure, BUT it quickly turned into overwhelming stimulation. Kids running form item to item, begging their parents for items; I needed an escape. Wait, there's an upstairs? Rushing up I saw they had candy/boozy cocktails? What, do my eyes deceive me??? That's right, I was able to get a Chocolate Martini of deliciousness and change my nightmare into a fantasy. Yes! So glad, someone thought of the parents.

Yelp
Shop is well managed and organized despite of it daily crowds. Fun sales desks inside the store and own mini photo booth creation station. Music is cheerful and slightly mad, I guess to inflict the sweet sales mood :) Check out process is quick enough. Members of staff are well trained and polite. We are regulars.

Yelp
3 stories of cavity wrenching, diabetes getting, heart disease, sugary goodness. This is America...and God Bless America! Ok so it's really 2 stories of sugary goodness and the 3rd story is a bar! It's like what would happen if Willy Wonka had sex with Don Draper. There is pretty much every type of candy imaginable from candy cigarettes, a gazillion different jelly beans, pizza flavored candy bars, and a bunch of other stuff. My kids bought suckers the size of my head and some kind of crazy gummy candies. There is also a Wall of Fame showing famous people and their favorite candies. It's definitely a cool place to go especially after you drug your kid through a bunch of museums that made them miserable. Reward the little shits with some candy and reward yourself with a drink on the 3rd floor.

Yelp
I feel like this place has all the candy and candy-related knick-knacks you could possibly ever want in it. The staff is friendly and there are a ton of really fun things in the store. (I can completely see where that term, "kid in a candy store" comes from. :P ) Things are definitely on the more expensive side, but that's something I kinda tend to expect in NYC. My friends and I had a lot of fun wandering the store! If you're looking for chocolates, unicorn snot, unicorn poop, retro candies, cute shirts, color-themed candies lined from wall to wall downstairs...you'll find it here! There's a cafe upstairs as well that we didn't end up checking out since we were on the way elsewhere and just wanted to stop in here, but if you have any kind of a sweet tooth, you'll have fun in here (your wallet, not so much).

Yelp
Visiting NY, I had to come here. It's a gigantic candy store! The candy is like a Sweet Factory, but just to the extreme. There's more variety! It's a little pricey. The thing I found for a good price was the cupcakes. It's as large as the Costco muffins, but it's only $3 (i think). That's the same price you pay for a small cupcake at like Sprinkles. The workers are not that nice. They are VERY strict about taking pictures in this place! Besides that, it's a good place to come to at least once. It's also good if you have time to kill when you're waiting for a table at Serendipity's down the block.

Yelp
We stopped by Dylan's Candy Bar for a couple drinks at the bar as it was on my New York City bucket list. When we arrived there was no one else sitting at the bar and I thought it may be closed as it was cluttered with drinks and dirty rags sitting on the bar. We were told it was open and the bar tender hurried over and cleaned up the area for us. The bar tender was so friendly and very attentive. I ordered a tropical drink and my husband ordered a mojito. It was fun watching him make the drinks and he let us pick out some of the candies added to it. A very fun experience. The view from the bar, however, looked directly into the ice cream and food area where the employees were working. This area was behind the ice cream display so it was open to most people's view and I was sad to say it was very dirty. The floors and counters were obviously not clean and I could plainly see the employees eating. I think that should be taken to a back area out of customers sight. The check was also very expensive for 2 drinks. I realized that it would be about $30, but I assumed they would be larger for what I am paying. Good experience overall, but certainly some fine tuning needs to be done.

Yelp
Holy hell. Talk about high blood pressure heaven! 3 floors of candy goodness (well the 3rd floor is a cafe). All the candy you'll find at a candy store like say, Sweet Factory, will be on the 2nd floor. Various sour gummies, licorice, etc. I didn't spend much time on this floor. No cashiers were open either. The bottom floor is where it's poppin'! You have your various colors of MnM's, an assortment of candy you don't see anymore (Bazooka, candy gum cigerettes, blue razz pop rocks), jelly beans, and a whooooole section of chocolate. I seriously felt like a kid in a candy store! I didn't know what to get. I had a basket and I started throwing in candy. That's when I noticed the prices. Um yeah. Sooo put the candy I didn't want back. If you are looking to buy candy as a gift for someone, I suggest you go for one of those plastic paint buckets or tin lunch pails. The plastic holder itself is $5.00 and if you choose to fill them up it's a total of $15.00. Either that or you can just go for the other bagillion gazillion choices they have in this place. They have a bunch of cash registers but not many cashiers to work them. We stood in this long line where 2 cashiers could have easily been working them but there was only 1 cashier and the 2nd girl was helping the cashier bag up the candy. We saw a different pair of registers behind us with a girl standing there so we went up to her. She stares at us dumbfounded and says, "Oh there are registers here but they can ring you up over there." Okay? We went back to the original line. When we turned around we noticed that same chick was ringing someone up! Cute and fun little place.

Yelp
Overrated, overpriced. Very cool concept that your kids are going to LOVE, which is why we went. The snack bar/restaurant was crazy expensive, and filthy. Maybe because it was near closing? But the tables and floor had food and stuff all over. The bar has some really unique drinks all made with candy but holy %*!?! was it expensive! I got an ice filled small juice glass with some gummy bears on top and it cost me $15. Yes, it's for the experience. Was a cool photo for me to post on Facebook, but it was a crappy drink. Again, you are going for the experience and the wow factor. It's a great sight for the senses, but will empty your wallet with not much to show for it. That said, you should still go. It's fun to at least walk through.

Yelp
Was treated like cattle as soon as I walked in. It's that sort of place that pretends to be Manhattan but it's really a misrepresentation. To think I came in for something sweet and left with a sour experience. This isn't a real NYC business by any accord lest the owner is the daughter or Ralph Lauren

Yelp
I felt like I was in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory! The music was too reminiscent of the It's a Small World ride...so that kind of annoyed me after about 5 minutes of being in there. BUT...it was well worth it. I can't even tell you how big of a splurge I had. I mean there were powdered chocolate balls in a garbage can, sugar-coated shot glasses, rice krispy treats half my height...yeah I went a little crazy... If you have kids and you're visiting or if you have a huge sweet tooth, make your way to Dylan's. Just be prepared to want to gouge your ears out from the soundtrack playing...

Yelp
You'll literally be a kid in a candy store! Wall to ceiling full of candy, chocolate, sweets. They're sold by weight. Whatever candy brand and type you can think of, Dylans definitely has it!! I like looking through their celebrity photos to see who has stepped foot in Dylan's. I think the concept is creative. i didn't buy anything from Dylans though.

Yelp
BACON-fLAVORED CHOCOLATE! http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/LcqOUCT0rx9gRDs_KO5IIA?select=7lPb13Qn3mlzQB9GW4Ju-w If that does not turn you on, how about Tiramisu, Red velvet cake or Banana Cream Pie!

Yelp
Candy candy candy. Felt I had walked into Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Fun, bright, huge and full of candy. Interestingly as we entered the cafe on the 2nd level, willy wonka was playing. They have something for everyone, and their cute seasonal Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah treats most caught my attention. Had to get a chocolate Santa, turkey lollipop and adorably decorated thanksgiving cookie treat for my son. Came back again the same week and was able to get all the candy needed to make thanksgiving turkey treats. Definitely recommend for candy lovers, and for those who like candy cocktails, must visit the cafe.

Yelp
I had planned a long awaited "girls day" in the city for my 9 yr old daughter, my best friend, and I. The reservation process is a bit annoying...reservations can only be made online, within 2 weeks of your intended visit. The famous cupcake booths are first come first served. When I made the reservation, I requested a cupcake booth and kept my fingers crossed. When we arrived, we were seated in the smaller of the 2 cafe rooms, with a kids birthday party going full tilt next to us. Lucky for us, the party in the "cupcake" room ended and we were offered to move. We were thrilled! My daughter was beaming. So, we sat in the turquoise blue cupcake, very excited for our lunch. The food was just ok. The real fun comes with the desserts! They were huge, fun, and everything you would expect from a sweet shop such as this! The staff really could not be nicer. Everyone, from the workers in the candy store, to the servers were all very pleasant. This is where the disappointment comes in....the cafe was not clean...at all. The floor was filthy (and not just from the earlier party). The outside of the cupcake booths had food stains that look like they've been there for quite some time. The bathroom is in a separate hallway outside the cafe itself. In this hallway was a cart piled with garbage bags, and tables and chairs stacked along the wall. It was like walking through a storage room. All in all it was a fun experience, but I really expected more. This place has a reputation for being a place where kids can live out their wildest, sweetest dreams and adults can feel like kids again. I just expected more. Bottom line...skip the food, indulge in the amazing desserts!

Yelp
Came here with some friends to go to the cafe. A few of them got drinks, but I was freezing so I stuck with food. Service: Decent for the most part. We had some pretty lengthy waits between asking for a menu and having our orders taken. We weren't in a rush, so it wasn't a big deal. Food: My friend got the fish tacos and she really liked them. I had the buffalo chicken flatbread and it was very below average. The bread part was a pretty gross texture, and there was way too much blue cheese on top for the amount of buffalo sauce. Dessert: The brownie was the shining star of the meal. It's topped in some kind of fudge sauce that was AMAZING. I wish we had just stuck to dessert, since the food was super mediocre.

Yelp
I'm addicted to this place with its over-priced candy bars and treats from all over the area. I especially enjoy the Crispery rice krispy treats and I come here often to buy a few of the over-sized delicious bars in flavors like oreo, peanut butter, caramel, and smore. Their fudge isn't that great but I'm never that impressed with fudge that isn't homemade. The cupcakes they have are from Crumbs which I hate. The candy selection is wonderful though. A sweet tooth will be hurting after a trip here to go to the dentist for some cavity treatments cuz you won't be able to say no to something. Any sucker for a candy shop won't be able to stay away.

Yelp
This place is the closest thing to Willy Wonka's chocolate room as you are ever going to get! Everything is bright and cheery and had a candy them to it. I had fun just looking at all the different candies you could buy. The cafe serves ice cream and other treats. The tables are decorated with gumballs underneath the glass top. I wish I could have come here when I was five years old. I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I didn't know how expensive everything was. As you can expect, everything was pretty pricey. That's probably why I didn't buy anything. Nothing seemed unique enough that you could not buy in another candy store, but I really enjoyed the fun atmosphere and walking around in this Toys R Us of candy stores.

Yelp
So much fun!! Don't miss the upstairs cafe, complete with creamy ice cream, shakes, fondue & an adult drinks bar too! The strawberry nerds mojito has actual nerds on top and the cotton candy drink comes with actual cotton candy too!! We very much enjoyed the fondue for two w/ fresh strawberries, pineapple, apple & rice krispies. Even the milk chocolate was so tasty! The only downsides are; very limited seating, like 3 tables for two, and very un-enthusiastic staff. Regardless I would still give it a try, even if you just stop in for a quick treat and some pictures!
