Highly recommended. Stunning view, with a very easy short path to walk along and get 360 coverage. The Lighthouse itself is cute, but not that impressive. However, it is situated on a very tall cliff. You get to see the cliff itself from the path, and appreciate the native birds living in the cliff. Even on a cloudy day, the black volcanic beaches are well visible. Apart from the majestic view, the sound of the waves and rolling beach rocks creates a soothing, serene ambiance. Beware, you might have to wait for a parking spot. The lot is fairly small for the popularity of the viewpoint.

This is a very pretty lighthouse in a gorgeous setting. All of Iceland is so pretty! This spot overlooks a gorgeous black sand beach and the rock formation that is so iconic to the Vik area. There were men working at the light today and I noticed that glass in the lantern room was broken. Hopefully, she gets repaired in short order! The light is not open for climbing but its definitely worth the drive up to view it regardless. The views are outstanding and on a clear day you can see so far. There are many nesting birds among the cliffs as well. Puffins can be viewed in the evening. Parking up here is free though congested, you may have to wait for a spot. Plan an hour or so up here...perhaps longer with a walk, there is much to see.

Incredible views of the black sand beaches and rock formations. It was some of the best scenery we saw in all of Iceland. Google said it closed at 7pm, but we still were able to see all of the scenery from the lookout points after that.

Impressive lighthouse near a prime cliff to see puffins. Closed until early July, which is the best time to come. Dress warm, even in the summer, and come before 10 a.m. for your best chance at the elusive birds. No fee or wait. The road up is now fully paved and divided, so don’t be deterred or pressured into getting a 4WD.

Visiting the Dyrhólaey Lighthouse was an unforgettable experience that perfectly blended history, nature, and breathtaking scenery. Perched majestically on a rugged cliffside overlooking the ocean, the lighthouse offered sweeping panoramic views that were nothing short of spectacular. The crashing waves below and the endless horizon made it feel like a step into another world. The lighthouse itself is beautifully preserved, with a charming vintage structure that speaks to its maritime past. Whether you’re interested in coastal history or simply seeking a peaceful escape, the informative plaques and guided tours offer fascinating insights without overwhelming visitors. One of the highlights was the climb to the top. Though a bit steep, the effort is well worth it—the view from the lantern room is awe-inspiring. Don’t forget your camera—this is one of those places where every angle is postcard-perfect. Highly recommended for anyone who loves natural beauty, historic charm, or simply wants to breathe in the fresh ocean air.

The Dyrhólaey Lighthouse sits up on a cliff with some of the best views along the south coast. From here you can see black-sand beaches for miles, jagged sea arches, and seabirds soaring all around. It’s a simple, peaceful place that’s well worth the short drive up.

Probably one of the best views you will ever see. Less impressive for the lighthouse itself, absolutely sensational for the insane views! Plus, you might see some puffins.

You're obviously not coming for the lighthouse. The view is mesmerizing, and you may be blessed with a close encounter with puffins. An absolute must-see!
