"This chic, trendy canteen with its white walls, pale wood furnishings and black ceiling serves up an appetising menu in a lively neighbourhood near the indoor market. The menu showcases traditional cuisine and local produce, with a focus on seasonal ingredients such aspersillé de Bourgogne(jellied ham with parsley),œufs en meurette(eggs in a red wine sauce) and beef cheeks à la Bourguignonne. The lunch set menu is a steal – enjoy on the terrace in fine weather." - Michelin Inspector

Settled into a Scandi-calm dining room, we found warm oak floors, a long banquette and low pendant lights, keeping the space calm. We began with savoury madeleines and a bubbling terracotta of escargots à la bourguignonne - well cooked and lighter on garlic (8/10). A fist-sized andouillette arrived glossy and pungent; with caramelised onion, sauces and crisp frites it scored 7.5/10. The gigotin - a boned roulade in an Aligoté-and-cream sauce with sautéed wild mushrooms - was timed impeccably, full of terroir (9.5/10). Dessert ‘Dijonnaise’ - gingerbread soaked in crème de cassis, blackcurrant sorbet and chantilly - was theatrical and balanced (9/10). Service straightforward; a market-facing bistrogastro that honours Burgundian produce. Well.

Very pleasant and attentive service. Food wonderfully presented. Reasonable prices. However, the portions were a joke. For 16 euros, I only got 2 Pieces of asparagus as an appetizer. The lamb was just okay, not much flavor, and again a small portion. I’m going to change my tune for the dessert: it was absolutely brilliant!! Maybe the best dessert I’ve ever had. And it was plentiful… The wine was excellent.”

The good: excellent service, nice ambience. We had an amazing beef bourgignonne, excellent gratin and sides as well as tasty oeufs en Mariette and lovely wine. Only negatives: the lamb stew was not very tender and a bit bland.

Found this recommendation on Bib Gourmand and was very happy with the full experience. Young but well trained staff took care of the evening. The best part of the meal was the soft onsen style egg with girolles mushrooms. As a main I had the local trout with the skin crisped perfectly so that it complemented the lightly flavored and nicely cooked fish. The accompanying vegetables were nice, but I thought could be more elevated. They were quite basic sautéed mixed vegetables. Dessert of tarte aux figues and chocolate quenelle was a closing star.

Great food, kind service but perhaps a little understaffed? The portions are generous, as was the truffle on the main course. Definitely worth its money. I believe we were slightly unlucky with the bread; where ours was cold and slightly stale, the people next to us and behind us received hot and fresh bread just minutes after us.

We were looking forward to a lovely evening at DZ’envies, especially since the restaurant is listed in the Michelin guide. Unfortunately, the overall experience fell far short of expectations. • Wine service: The white wine was served too warm, and throughout the entire evening, no one came by to top up our glasses. We had to refill our own drinks – absolutely disappointing for a restaurant of this category. • Service at the table: While someone came by during the starter to ask if everything was fine, no one checked in during the main course. My filet mignon was cooked “well done” instead of “medium.” In such a situation, I would have expected the chef to come out personally, apologize immediately, and not for the staff to casually ask afterward if I would like a coffee or digestif – once the damage had already been done. • Overall experience: A restaurant listed in the Michelin guide should not only impress with its food but also with the entire service experience, the attentiveness of the staff, and the way mistakes are handled. • Hospitality: If dogs are welcome, the very least would be to offer a bowl of water – to show that all guests are truly made to feel comfortable. Overall, the evening was not what one would expect from a restaurant of this category. There is significant room for improvement in terms of service quality and professionalism.

You will not be disappointed with the menu selection. The dishes are phenomenal and the service is excellent. Our hostess was able to seat us on a busy night and made our experience so memorable.

I visited with my boyfriend a few weeks ago and we truly had an an amazing experience! The food was very very good with fresh and super flavourful dishes that featured local cusine but with a twist. The skill and passion of the kitchen were evident in every dish and Chef Philippe was even so kind to answer our questions about the preparation and ingredients. When I mentioned to the staff that I could not eat the desert featured in the menu due to an allergy, they let me choose an alternative dessert from the menu. Generally the service was super accomodating and made us feel very welcomed. DZ envies offers amazing hospitality, outstanding food at a super fair pricing. We'll definitely be returning when in Dijon again!

Yelp
We shared an appetizer of 12 escargots. Excellent. I had a wonderful leg of lamb, while BF had A pork dish with a couple different types of mustard on the side. I had never really thought of mustard as a compliment to pork, but it was very very good. Service was attentive. I would definitely come back here.

Yelp
We stopped in Dijon on our way to Macon to experience all the culinary goodness in this city. After touring Musee des Beaux Arts (HIGHLY recommend--what a magnificent and incredible museum), buying wine, and walking around, we were ready for dinner. And to fulfill our dream: eating beef bourguignon and drinking Burgundy wine IN BURGUNDY. We sadly didn't plan ahead and several places were already booked up for the night, but DZ'Envies took us in at exactly 7:00 pm and we were grateful because we had a toddler with us who was up way past her bedtime. The restaurant is decorated minimally and has a nice feel to it, and we were seated next to a lovely elderly couple from Switzerland who were infatuated with our daughter and made the evening all the more pleasant. Drinks. Kir royal (it *IS* Burgundy and you must drink creme de cassis)=A+. The Aperol Spritz was subpar, but nothing will ever top the one we had at Cafe St. Regis in Paris. Wines were good for the price. Dinner. We started with the salad, which was fine and simple enough and the Escargots Burgundy. Snails were amazing! So buttery, so yummy, so much garlic, this is what France is all about. Our daughter was very happy with her frites. Our main dish, the beef cheeks bourguignon--aka What We Had Been Waiting For--was a massive disappointment. The meat was tender and everything else (mushrooms, pearl onions) was cooked well enough, but the sauce was so watery and bland that we couldn't even believe it. There was no discernible flavor on the plate. One of us has made beef bourguignon at home twice, and it is a sad day indeed to think that your own homemade beef bourguignon is superior to the one that you're eating in Dijon. Dessert. A few ice cream flavors--gingerbread and apricot rocked the house, while pistachio and lemon played second fiddle. The vanilla creme brûlée was also good, but we're not huge fans of that dessert, though felt obligated to get it at least once in France, so why not. Service. It seemed like they were trying really hard, but just didn't know what they were doing. The manager lady was awesome and accommodating, but the young woman who was our waitress constantly needed to be given repeat directions (oui, en Francais) or flagged down. All in all, we had a lovely meal and a wonderful time here and are happy to have gone, but if you're looking for a classic, or even stellar, Beef Bourguignon, then you should go somewhere else.

Yelp
Why is this place a 1 Michelin star? I was extremely disappointed by this restaurant since I did a lot of research and many reviews and food bloggers/travelers said that this was a bang for your buck type of place and the food is awesome. Honestly, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. FOOD: the only positive was the price. It definitely is a deal that you're getting for the pre fixe menu. My friend ordered the 5 course pre-fixe menu and I just ordered a la carte. Everything...EVERYTHING we had was sub par and I remember at some point, I even told my friend "I'm just not going to waste my stomach space to eat this." We had raw oysters in one dish and it did not taste fresh at all. I still ask myself, maybe we just went on a bad night? But aren't good restaurants all about consistency? SERVICE: the service here was also terrible. Maybe they don't like foreigners - i don't know...or they're just having a bad day? But, we were not greeted with even the slightest smile. And when asked what we wanted to order, the server would just say with a very blunt tone "What is your choice?" AMBIANCE: probably the only plus. It's a cozy and casual place. Too bad the food wasn't good at all... Sorry DZ'envies, I rarely give out 1 star but the food was really disappointing.

Yelp
The bartender at my hotel recommended this restaurant. I had an excellent meal here when visiting France for the first time. With my limited French (limited is being nice), I found them very accommodating. My meal started off with a macaroon and a glass of wine. My steak was cooked medium and was delicious. A couple from my hotel recognized me and immediately got their own table after seeing my plate. I was very impressed with the meal and the restaurant is located on an interesting side street. It was a beautiful evening on the patio.

Yelp
Probably the best value in Dijon. A former Michelin 1-star Chef, David Zuddas is now using his skills to provide great local food at more accessible prices. All the products are fresh, mostly sourced from the local market on the opposite side of the street. The menu changes on a bi-weekly basis and offers different options depending on how hungry you are. The food is French creative cuisine, sometimes inspired by other styles. I've been there over 15 times and have never been disappointed. The wine slection is, as you'd expect, pretty wide, and if for some reason you don't feel like going for the menu, there is a solid à la carte choice.

Yelp
Food absolutely outstanding, service was fantastic. Price v reasonable. Atmosphere is a little more relax cafe style for the evening, I think they need to turn the lights down for dinner service. Cart de vin is an iPad and made it super modern. Formule seemed like good value but we wanted to order from the menu - loved it and would go back

Yelp
why am I having the worst luck in France! I can rave about the quality of the butter- and the wine but most places I have passed, just looking at the food on peoples plates, it is really poor. So many choices, so much mediocrity! Stopped here at DZ'Envies based on a recommendation from someones blog- yikes- it wasnt bad, but not really worth eating. Don't serve me brown lettuce please. The persille was ok- the beef bourguignon was ok, mashed potatoes lumpy but fine- all around it gets a "c" if I was a teacher, that is how I would rate this place. Sorry but if you arrive in Dijon expecting something great I would say stay on the train or bus and go elsewhere. Especially if Les Halles isnt fully open as it wasnt today.

Yelp
Excellent food - superb execution on complex gourmet preparations, but brought out a badly undercooked steak for my son. Excellent wine by the glass at very reasonable price. The impressive food is offset by poor service - had to ask twice for a drink for my son, had to ask twice for the wine menu to order a second glass of wine, there was an unpleasantly long wait between dinner and desert (over 30 minutes), and we were charged for 5 glasses of wine when we only had 4).
