We came to E-Gyu for my birthday dinner and they have a couple discount offers that we intended to take full advantage of, but come time to pay the bill, they told us that the birthday deal (1 free AYCE with a party of 5) was only valid ON THE DAY of your birthday.
Anyway, they also have a special that says if you have a party of 4, Mon-Thurs, they'll gift you a bottle of wine from a selection of 30 different ones. We did receive that, but we're also informed that you can't use both deals simultaneously.
Ok, fine. Well, we ordered the moscato and it was decent, but it's was just a $14 bottle. I intentionally came during the week (AFTER) my birthday DAY so that we could get the wine and the free AYCE. I was, obviously disappointed.
OK, enough complaining. We actually enjoyed ourselves and the food was pretty good. I will say that the quality starts off fantastic and then they give you lesser cuts of meat as you go on. I really should've taken pictures to show the difference, but I'll give a for instance... We ordered the ribeye and it came out with a beautiful strip of fat along with fantastic marbling and it was tender and fresh just really good. We got a great sear on it and flipped it over and gave it a decent on the second side and I mean it was juicy. It was tender. It was everything you want in a ribeye. We ordered the ribeye three more times and each time it came with less and less marbling to the point that on the last one there was almost no marbling, and I wasn't even sure if it was really a ribeye. I also noticed that the quality of the actual meat went from very tender to somewhat chewy on the last piece. Honestly kind of this was somewhat expected, and all you can eat Korean barbecue, but either way the food was still delicious. I mean, it's all in how you prepare it and if you're good cook like I am, even mediocre ingredients are going to be pretty fantastic.
We ordered almost every cut of meat for the beef, but we didn't actually order any chicken pork, lamb, or fish off of the all-you-can-eat menu. I love that they have all of those options, but I was really just on a beef-bender!
Our favorite, hands-down, no competition... Was the shaved Galbi beef. Both the "spicy" and the regular or marinated versions were so tender and juicy and almost melted in your mouth. They came in a small frying pan little rectangular shape thing that you set right on top of the burner . I don't know how else to describe it just it melted in your mouth. It was stage you see the whole time like you bite into it and it had so much flavor... I don't know it was the best out of everything pants down. Not pants down hands down! I'm speech to text entering this in my car...
I didn't take any pictures or videos because I was busy being the chef for everyone.
Should you give E - GYU a chance? In my opinion, yes. I will be going back... Either with one other person or just by myself and I intend to take pictures when I return. See you next time.
