A Glimpse Inside Rustic-Chic E3 Chophouse, Opening Tonight in Hillsboro Village | Eater Nashville

"I learned the original E3 Chophouse in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, was founded in 2013 and is owned by brothers Adam, Andy, and Jeff LaRoche. In the spirit of honoring the animal and utilizing the entire steer, other E3 projects have evolved including E3 K9 Performance and a near-future E3 ABF jerky company, and a connection made through the Buck Commander hunting show and product line—where LaRoche befriended Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan—ultimately led to plans for a Nashville location." - Delia Jo Ramsey

Celebrities Attempt to Break Into the Nashville Scene With Prime Rib | Eater Nashville

"I read that a Colorado-based steakhouse is aiming to open in Village 21 at the Regions Park development: E3 Chophouse, a celebrity-linked concept backed by baseball brothers Jeff, Adam, and Andy LaRoche along with country stars Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan and Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson. It currently operates a location in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and sources its steaks from the LaRoche family ranch in Fort Scott, Kansas. Local reaction to the planned Nashville outpost has been largely negative, with Eater Nashville commenters responding with vomit emojis and a “No Hard Pass” gif." - Erin Perkins

Me & my fiancé & I got engaged at home (Denver) around 3am Christmas Eve & then decided we need to go somewhere to celebrate. We’d both never been to steamboat so we did it. This was the first restaurant we went to when we got here & the food & service was as outstanding. Tatum & Tessy specifically were absolutely amazing. We know exactly what we like coming to places like this & everything came out perfectly. Highly recommend if you’re visiting steamboat springs!

Teresa T.

Google
Loved this place, best place on the River I thought… I visited in September and didn’t visit every single place in steamboat on the river, but quite a few and this was by far my favorite. I started out with champagne and a snack outside. It was glorious. I like the food very much too. I just thought everything was great. I think this is a don’t miss spot. If you really, really love outside type of places and they have music from the third night I was there. I don’t know. I love this place.!!

Christina

Google
It’s clear upper management deeply cares about this place, the proof is in the details. Food was delicious, especially the lobster bisque! I do wish the lunch menu had more elevated options, but we will just have to come by for dinner next time!

Google
My husband and I had a wonderful time here as newlyweds. Our bartender, Paige, was hilarious—she joked around with us, even when we made a silly comment about how SpongeBob would be upset about all the crab we’d just eaten. The food was fantastic; my filet was cooked to perfection (medium rare 😏), and my husband loved the bottomless snow crab (Monday special). The drinks were equally impressive, well crafted and delicious. Everything about our experience exceeded our expectations for our honeymoon. Worth every penny

Maranda W.

Google
This was an amazing find! It was a busy, fully-booked night, so we grabbed seats at the bar. The bartenders were working hard, and staying right on top of the ball. They worked together as an efficient team, and provided excellent service. They made excellent recommendations, and were still attentive, in spite of how busy they were. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the bison, brussel sprouts, and truffle fries. Tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience!

Tamara B.

Google
We had tenderloin, wedge, and lobster bisque. The only thing better than the food was the service. Our experience from the moment we walked in the door was delightful. We enjoyed an elegant dining experience with a casual atmosphere of the riverside seating. I forgot to take pictures of the food, but captured the view.

Google
We had a phenomenal dinner last night at E3. Reservations are highly recommended. Our server Missy was fabulous. She was super friendly and very accommodating. The my steak was phenomenal and my wife’s entree “The Boat” was so awesome. The a carrot cake was delicious as well. Highly recommend.

Cody K.

Google
My waitress as nice as she was, was not knowledgeable regarding the menu to what I would expect at this price point. I asked her a few questions regarding the surf and turf and lobster add on and I wad told that the surf and turf was just a smaller tail not a split tail from the addon. If that was the case we would have ordered that each. In addition my stake was cooked to medium/ medium well and my wife's was medium rare. The waitress apologized and offered to get us another. Greatly appreciated but having a young toddler at dinner as every parent knows your on borrowed time. So I swapped with my wife and she at the middle. All in all it wasn't a bad experience but for a $400 dinner I expect more.

Yelp
Riverside? Check! Amazing service? Check! Happiest of happy hours? Absolutely! The Brussels spouts bursted with flavor and bacon. And don't worry, the burnt ends aren't really burned; they're delicious!
google avatar

Ta'keisha R.

Yelp
My food was amazing and the server was really friendly and attentive. We had a larger party and she fully accommodated us! There were mixed reviews on the food. I enjoyed my salmon Caesar and the truffle fries were spectacular. I tried a few bites of the lobster bisque and thought it was good as well. A friend ordered the steak and said it was cooked to perfection but lacked any flavor at all. The steak had no seasoning, she said even with the truffle butter, it didn't make it any better.
google avatar

Stacy R.

Yelp
Had the ribeye, crab cakes and all you can eat crab on Monday. Service and food were excellent and the crab is a good value at only $44 / person. The steak is from the owners ranch and you can taste the difference!
google avatar

Jared V.

Yelp
The filet is amazing , bone marrow butter too! Very good place, also go the shrimp, decent but not as good as the steak

Yelp
We had a pretty rough experience. Went for a friend's 70th birthday. Made reservations a long time ago. Got sat outside in a backyard away from the river with a view of a shed and mosquitos. We all ordered steaks with extra toppings etc. Demi glaze is solid. But the size of these steaks were pathetic and definitely weren't 8ozs. Probably about 5oz of meat for $80. The service was bizarre. We got more attention from the busser and the clean up crew. Our waitress disappeared for 30 minutes at a time. Took an odd amount of time to get drinks and she forgot a drink for almost the whole meal. I cannot fathom the prices they charge for the poor execution. $1100 for six people and a total bummer of a place. Wish I could get a refund. Every single person that had lobster bisque got sick that night.

Yelp
Best steak I've had in years. The ribeye was amazing. The truffle mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and brusslels sprouts were fantastic. Kira was a great server. And the atmosphere was great!
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in just for a happy hour drink and got a great spot to enjoy it by the river. The scenery was amazing! There is a nice patio with multiple tables and chairs to dine at, fireplaces, and cute bright red Adirondack chairs to sit in and enjoy the river view. We did not try any of the food but the food I saw being served looked quite good and smelled delicious!

Yelp
One of the great things about Steamboat Springs is that most places have Happy Hour. So...we went Happy Hour Hopping! But when you're my age, it's not the same as being 21 and going bar hopping. It's more like find a nice place with good ambiance that has "some" deals...even $2 off counts...LOL E3 Chophouse has a very pleasant area along the river (Yampa/Yamba? I should probably Google it first). I went with the Old Fashioned since it's a standard cocktail that most bars should be good at making. And this place does a good job. The setting near the river is very relaxing, with nice tables and a couple of wooden chairs looking out into the water. We didn't order any food, but we checked out the other tables, and the food looked good. Something to look forward to when we go back to Steamboat.

Yelp
E3 was THE perfect spot for a bachelor party formal dinner for a good friend of mine! We were provided a private room where we could indulge in a variety of quality wines and cocktails, laugh, and enjoy one another's company during such a momentous occasion without interrupting other patrons. Our server was funny yet professional, and ensured we had a great time. The baseball florentine will go down as one of my favorite steaks. Cooked just right at medium rare topped with a creamy bérnaise sauce and king crab, I'm still dreaming of it. The flavor just exploded with each bite. The sautéed spinach en croute was a great side and balancer - fresh and vibrant, and warm and fluffy. I will note there could have been a couple of more bites of king crab, but the sheer delectability of the plate is surely the main point here. Thanks E3 for making my close friend's bachelor party dinner one for the books!

Yelp
If you're thinking about splurging dont. I dont think it was worth $100 per person Service was very poor and really not anything special about the food We had so many other meals while visiting Steamboat that were more worth the money than here.

Ron L.

Yelp
The Good: Ambiance by the Yampa River The So-So: service, sound level The bad: the prices listed here on Yelp and the restaurant's own website are wrong. They're at least $10-15 higher per entree, appetizer, etc. And they were out of their one vegetarian entree. The ugly: food prep and quality were woefully below a "chophouse/steakhouse" level, let alone based on the outrageous prices they charged. My son can (and does) prepare steak better than their chefs do. Literally, the filet mignon has no taste. It was the most surreal experience. The temperature and taste have A LOT to be desired. I've had Play-Doh taste better than my filet. And the shared Cowboy sirloin steak... 18 oz of bone and fat, and maybe 4oz of ok-done meat/protein. I don't understand - if they own their own cattle farm/ranch in Kansas - and only serve the most prime of cuts, how they can butcher their food prep and taste of their own steaks! I sincerely don't understand this restaurant and their prices unless they're 95% dependent on corporate cards paying for meals and their employees being poor fiduciaries of their employers while trying to hustle a deal with poor food?! I've been to chain steakhouses that serve better tasting food than this. (At incredibly more reasonable prices.) Time for a total revamp - just keep the location. Maybe the owners should stick to baseball and hire real restaurateurs. Chef Gordon, I found a great one for a future show! TL;DR: Wife says the place is a rip-off.

Yelp
Not only was the food amazing but they are also doing great things for the community and country! Which was a refreshing way to spend my money. My mom came to visit and it was the perfect spot to show her what an outdoor evening on the river is like in Dreamboat! Our server was funny and patient and I can't wait to take other loved ones to E3!
google avatar

James N.

Yelp
After dining at steakhouses all over the world - including several phenomenal ones in our Denver metro area (Guard + Grace, Shannahans, and others) - this was decidedly just ok. Incredible location, solid service, but a surprisingly weak wine list and very mediocre quality of meats. And while we're very used to resort town pricing, this place had a particularly eye-watering price point. Especially considering the "meh" quality of their steaks. Maybe worth a splurge if you're in town, but lots of far better options for this kind of fare in Colorado and beyond.

Yelp
We came out to celebrate a weekend getaway from the kids. Our server, Kira, was absolutely wonderful. When she heard we were on a getaway she brought us some complimentary champagne. We each ordered prime rib and split truffle Mac and cheese and brussel sprouts. The Mac and cheese was amazing! The sprouts and prime rib could've used a touch more seasoning, but still really good. We finished with their skillet cookie, which was really good. The food was great and Kira made the night even more wonderful with her service.

Yelp
Came for happy hour- summer. There's nothing better then sitting near the creek with the sound in the background. Today we were fortunate to see several kayakers and stand up paddleboards navigating the river. Happy hour menu was a nice design. Five dollars off the entire menu which makes it very easy. We enjoyed the buffalo cauliflower- it was huge! The shrimp cocktail had four massive shrimp. The grilled octopus was AMAZING and so hard to find.... LOVED the ambiance. Definitely right up my alley.

Jillian K.

Yelp
The manager (balding guy) is such an a**hole - the owners really should reconsider his employment; he's rude to his staff and dismissive to the customers. BUT our servers were incredible and made the experience, and the food is good, but mid considering the price. The views make up for it.
google avatar

Lauren L.

Yelp
Love the brunch at E3. Great deal on mimosas! Server Kevin and bartender Addie are real gems. Perfect spot to hang out on the river!

Mariza C.

Yelp
Food was amazing , beautiful ambiance, service was excellent! Strongly recommend. I had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly.
google avatar

PJ M.

Yelp
The food is always exceptional. High quality meat and a nice selection of sides and appetizers. The location is great right in the heart of downtown Steamboat on the Yampa river. In the summer you can sit outside by the river. The wait staff is great and attentive. It is pricey so be ready to spend some cash. The sides are HUGE. So pick some to share. Make reservations because you won't get in on a friday or satuday without one.
google avatar

Lance L.

Yelp
Best happy hour in town! Didn't come for dinner but judging from the photos it looks amazing. We came to enjoy the patio and drinks by the river (Summer) in the oversized red chairs. Couldn't have been more peaceful. The waitstaff is outstanding and place is something if you enjoy the finer things in life. I highly recommend! Come early if your there for happy hour and want to sit by the river. The chairs fill up fast!
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
Lovely place for dinner and during the off season it was affordable too! We hit them up for their weekend Prime Rib night for $29 and it was delicious. I am a big fan of the thyme drink as well. The service with "Oh" was amazing as well, he had us rolling laughing throughout the night.
google avatar

Rob S.

Yelp
this once great restaurant has dwindled to absolute horrendous ness! ya sure it's a beautiful spot, but not pretty enough to make up for the horrendous management and food. spent over $500 for 3 people, only 1 person had 1 cocktail. was my favorite place once upon a time. the manager that kept it great seems to be long gone. rest in peace E3

Yelp
Spendy but ok. Went here on a double date w a couple of friends. The place is lovely in appearance and the deck is gorgeous. My wife and I shared the sword fish and also a tomato appetizer that was on special. The tomato app was decent but nothing overly flavorful or wow. Was basically half a tomato in slices w some blue cheese and bacon on top. The swordfish was done well but similarly was just there. A bit of mango and avocado on it. About 1/3 cup of rice w coconut milk on it. It wasn't bad, it just was not great. For those prices, I expect "Wow!" The server was nice and the timing on items was done we do l.

Frank R.

Yelp
The food is hit or miss but the prices are always high. The place has a nice, higher end feel to it and sometime you get a good steak. The service also depends on the night. Living here we have seen good service and other nights we felt invisible. There are other options so we stopped going there. If you want to take a chance, go for it, you may be satisfied.

billy b.

Yelp
The service was good and the ambiance was okay as well. However the steak I ordered wasn't cooked to the correct temperature. Then when I sent it back to get it corrected it was way overcooked. Also, the sides were cold when they got to the table. Overall, it just wasn't a great experience
google avatar

Missy G.

Yelp
This is a gorgeous tourist trap. The food is OVERPRICED for the quality. It took us well over an hour to get our dry Caesar salads. We order the all you can eat crab legs that took so long to come and and of course they were cold. It was so slow that when the expensive food finally comes out you really really hope it was worth the wait and all the excuses the waiter made- but alas it was not. All of the other things we ordered were just ok. The lobster bisque was fine, same with the Brussels and potatoes. It only got more bland from there. The fries were not finished at a table of 6 hungry people- that tells you how they tasted. The Mac and cheese was, well as my niece put it all Mac and no cheese. This is a beautiful restaurant on the river. BUT it is not worth the time or money. If I am going to buy expensive food it better be delicious and hot. They are taking advantage of tourists that think they are going to get a 5 star dining experience. I didn't take any pics of our food because by the time it came out we were all starving and still none of us even finished our meals. Save your money
google avatar

Henry F.

Yelp
We biked here and you can find a good bike rack just 20ft north of their front door. The decor is beautiful inside and out. They have a happy hour but the details are a bit elusive. We were told by locals that they have a great happy hour. Frozen sangria is amazing but can be a bit slow to make depending on when they make the batch. The food is very tasty and offers a nice selection. My favorites were the steak kabobs and truffle fries. We only ate appetizers but I bet their dinner is great. The best feature is sitting on the back patio overlooking the Yampa river. Will definitely be back with a bigger appetite!

Randy F.

Yelp
food is great, drinks are great but whoever is playing the bullshit 70's music in a country bar needs to go! i won't be back until the music changes!
google avatar

Laurie S.

Yelp
This is my third time at E3. I've been previously happy but this last visit was lacking on several levels. We ordered a few things to split, including a filet. The filet was ordered medium - rare and arrived well-done. Normally would have returned it but someone else was treating and didn't want to make a big scene. Waiter was glum and not very pleasant. Bummer. Drink and ambiance very good.

Stefan J.

Yelp
Very fair not excellent brunch, wait staff and hostess were young and inexperienced and food was sub par for the price

Joni C.

Yelp
We had a wonderful Sunday brunch! We shared the 4 oz. filet eggs Benedict and chicken and waffles! Both were wonderful! We took our unlimited mimosas down to the outside table on the Yampa River! It was a lovely afternoon!

William R.

Yelp
If a restaurant is going to charge very high prices, the food had better be good. I ordered lamb chops medium rare. They came out well--not even a little bit pink. I politely said to our server that they were well overdone. He politely said "yeah, they sure are". I don't send poorly prepared food back. I just don't ever go back.
google avatar

Rick A.

Yelp
Special deals during Winter Carnival on the Happy Hour Menu. Happy Hour menu is great

Jeffrey T.

Yelp
they offer a limited menu on happy hour. The food was absolutely horrible. If I could've ordered a regular meal, I would've, but they don't offer that. If you go for happy hour, the ambience, sitting by the rivers, don't order food!

Claire D.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance with beautiful river views year round. The steaks are incredible, and service is always great. I love to stop in for happy hour drinks and snacks, and this is my go-to spot for when friends visit town! Beautiful steaks with a beautiful setting, always!
google avatar

Kristen K.

Yelp
I tried the Chardonnay sampler and it was awesome. The ambiance is top tier!! The fondue app was AMAZING(pictured below) The filet was delicious. The lobster Mac was good. The loaded mashed potatoes were okay. The cookie skillet was way over cooked almost burnt. Still edible. I will return again for only the drinks and appetizers. The other food was good but not amazing. The service was good.

Lisa M.

Yelp
OK- absolutely beautiful location and aesthetically gorgeous spot. Service was very friendly. And that is about all I can say. Because outside of that, this was one of the worst meals and service I've had in years. It took almost 2 hours to get a Caesar salad and a sandwich and fries. During that time our server barely checked in on us (or others- who I noticed just got up and went to the bar for their drinks) The $18 Caesar salad should have never left the kitchen- the lettuce was brown/yellow and wilted and the chicken on it was so overcooked it could barely be chewed. The $15 "side" of truffle fries tasted like... bodily fluid (no other way to describe it)... Extremely funky- enough to make you gag. While it is a beautiful location, they should be absolutely ashamed of themselves to have had that food leave the kitchen (let alone at those prices) (management was apologetic and our server- whenever she did show up- was very sweet)

Lisa W.

Yelp
Good food, good service, babbling brook, wonderful view, outdoor eating has shade, inside nice ambiance.
google avatar

Kate B.

Yelp
Super pricey and a little noisy. I found the steaks and salads to just be okay. However the goat cheese and pretzel appetizer is to die for. I'd come back and order just that and drinks and sit at the bar.
google avatar

Anastasia D.

Yelp
I'm so glad they have heated outdoor dining. Though it was a balmy 17 degrees outside, it felt cozy inside but definitely helped to have on layers. Service was friendly despite the short staffing and our server being busy with manning the bar and taking tables. Bacon wrapped dates were good but nothing special. The E3 Manhattan is pricey but worth it. And the scallops were the star of the show. Not only does the portion have 6 scallops, which is too many even for two people to share, but the flavors, paired with scalloped sweet potatoes, lemon buerre blanc and asparagus were spectacular and very satisfying. This was a pricey meal; we shared two small plates one entree and two drinks and the bill was over $100, but for an experience during a pandemic and a special occasion, it was well worth it.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
E3 was delicious, and I plan to definitely go again. The steak was great with amazing flavor. They are mostly known for won't but I am a beer guy. Service was great and the staff were very friendly. The ambiance gave a fancy vibe but the prices were what your expected for a steak place. I think my steak was around 50$
google avatar

Tim L.

Yelp
We went there during Music Fest. We were excited and hungry for a "REAL MEAL". Bottom line is one of the worst steaks that me, my wife and daughter ever had. The huge Tomahawk (which we were so excited about) came out red and cold- we asked for Medium rare plus. There was a striffon-gristle that ran all the way through it. Service was ok but was trying to rush us out of there. The wine was nice, sides ok but not 5* quality. Bottom line- go elsewhere. Our bill with tip was over $530.00. Not a good choice by us. A waste of a beautiful location.
google avatar

Ashley H.

Yelp
My husband made reservations here during our stay for my 30th birthday. This dinner was spectacular and everything we ate was cooked to perfection! The Caesar salad was large and big enough for us to share with anchovies on the salad! We both shared a 10 ounce filet cooked medium rare, brussel sprouts, and the lobster mac n cheese. The steak was of course my favorite, however that lobster mac n cheese is a MUST HAVE!! We ended our meal with a skillet cookie that they brought out with a candle and comped the dessert on our bill for my birthday. This place is an amazing steakhouse and is a must try if you're in Steamboat!
google avatar

Tasha J.

Yelp
I could not have had a better birthday lunch than E3 Chophouse! The whole experience was perfect. First off, the atmosphere on their river side patio is awesome. We were sat at the fire pit and even in late November with the sun and fire, we were warm. The all day happy hour on Saturday is baller! We had fantastic burgers with a large amount of fries with a glass of wine for $10! The additional glasses of wine were $7 each. What made my experience even better was the Manager and Server, they were attentive and nice and they brought me a free birthday dessert and shot! Could not have asked for a better day. E3 is my new fav place in Steamboat!

Nicki L.

Yelp
Not good on so many levels. Opened at noon and we were 3rd in line but had a 12:30 reservation. Made us wait 20 minutes while walk-ins were seated. Ordered food at 12:35 asking for an expedited/appetizer basket of fries for starving kids. NOTHING showed up for 50 minutes! Presentations were beautiful but food not so much. Praise for fries and lettuce wraps. Ribs undercooked. Wrong condiments on all 3 burgers. Monte Cristo had hardly any meat and was seriously over battered. Management was very gracious and waiter over the top kind and apologetic.
google avatar

Michael A.

Yelp
This place is amazing. 10/10 would recommend to any travelers in town. Service is amazing, Wine list is great and the steaks melt right in your mouth. The sides are very good as well and go with every dish perfectly.
google avatar

Ryan C.

Yelp
Honestly we were really looking forward to this meal for weeks. Got there and the staff was nice, they were running behind on service and asked if we could have a drink at the bar. Waited like 15 minutes for our reservation, no big deal. Got to our table; nice ambiance and look to the restaurant. Waiter came out and that's when everything went down hill. Was informed that literally they were out of almost every steak, except a fillet, a sirloin and a New York strip (so basically half of their steaks gone), and no mushroom sides. So the 2 steaks I was wanting for weeks were sold out. Especially makes it hard when they only had like 3 non steak options on the menu. So I reluctantly ordered the New York strip, for then a few minutes later to be told they just sold out of those, and all that was left was the sirloin or fillet. The lobster bisque I had as an appetizer was good (not $18 good, but good). The chicken fried lobster was very good, could have been a meal. The fillet I ordered was good, although ordered medium-rare and was maybe medium. Honestly would have sent it back but worried there wouldn't be any more steaks left. All of the tables around us were complaining about the lack choices due to their poor provisioning. So many people complaining not once did a manager come out and try to talk to customers. Would have been happier if I had been told when I walked in that basically they didn't have anything. I would have most likely left, and tried to salvage our once in a blue moon date night. Had such high hopes, but with so many other great food choices in town, this will be a hard pass for me next time I'm in town.

Yelp
The aged Chef's cut boneless Ribeye was Great! The waitress was very helpful in planning appetizers and sides for my party of 12. Their Old Fashioned was rememberable too.
google avatar

Coltrane S.

Yelp
We just popped in for happy hour one afternoon and had a great time! I had a local beer that was on point and the bartender recommended and whipped up a cocktail based on my wife's response to his attentive questions about what she liked. Fantastic service all around and even offered her a phone charger. Their riverside patio is nothing less than magical!
