"E5 Bakehouse was doing the whole aspirational archway thing long before it became its own genre of east London Saturday—a sweet, innocent time called 2010, to be more specific. Over the years this London Fields bakery has become a one-stop bread institution for trendy locals and anyone whose favourite hobby is urban hunting and gathering—buying artisanal loaves, Manilife peanut butter, and a bottle of natural wine that you plan to upcycle into a taper candle holder any day now. Although you can’t drink here, there’s a great selection (including chilled numbers in the fridge) for anyone who’s into the converted archway to park vino picnic pipeline." - heidi lauth beasley
"Mentmore Terrace is a great example of local businesses utilising old railway arches rented from TFL. E5 Bakehouse were one of the first residents and they continue to grow today. They recently took over the arch next door so that they can start to mill their grain on-site, meaning they can now take care of every aspect of their ingredient production. All organic, locally sourced and delicious, their breads, cakes, lunches and brunches are some of the best in the area. But don't just taste it, make it! Get involved with one of their bread making classes for a really immersive experience." - POST—
"A friendly bakery located in the arches below London Fields station. Definitely worth a visit if you're hanging out in the park. Make sure you try the multigrain bread as well as their rye and sourdough varieties, baked to perfection while you watch. The bakehouse also offers a breakfast, brunch, and lunch menu as well as bakery classes to share the passion, knowledge and expertise." - MultiAdaptor
"E5 Bakehouse is less of a bakery and more of a one-stop bread institution housed within a couple of arches by London Fields station. Locals, freelancers, and those partial to flaky pastry trot through the doors to pick up a bulbous loaf of still-warm sourdough and leave with a spicy ginger cookie, a Japanese coffee brewing cup, and a slab of French cheese. Part shop, part bakery, part organic cafe—it’s one of those pick-your-own adventure places. Stop by at lunchtime for a coffee and takeaway pizzetta—an epic, crisp crust pizza and sourdough lovechild that’s one of the best ways to consume smoky mushrooms—or rock up with a group of friends for an egg-centric brunch in the leafy courtyard out back. photo credit: E5 Bakehouse photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley" - Heidi Lauth Beasley
"Soft & Swirly has a takeaway setup in the garden at London Field's E5 Bakehouse and is serious about ice cream. Flavours change: one week might bring mint choc chip, another might bring salted black sesame, and another strawberry and elderflower sorbet. Whatever you get, the soft serve is smooth and incredibly flavourful. There are scoops available but the soft stuff is where it’s at. On Sundays, their ice cream is also available from Quince Bakery in Islington." - heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, daisy meager
