Early Morning Delight

We were warmly greeted right when we walked in. The place was very clean, the owner was so sweet and the food was absolutely amazing! I got the mango crispy chicken Benedict(which they hand make their bread for it), the Cuban French toast, and I couldn’t choose between the French toast or the special cinnamon roll pancakes so the owner brought me one to sample. My husband got the mole enchiladas (I also sampled ) and the were so delicious! They house make their mole sauce and it was bursting with flavor. We also got the horchata latte and it was one of the best horchatas I’ve had and I even homemake mine but theirs was honestly better. I peaked into the kitchen and it was super clean as well as the bathrooms! It’s a family owned restaurant and very much worth the stop in!! I’m super picky but have nothing but good things to say about our experience!

Quick and easy breakfast spot that was easily walked to from where we were staying. It was nice and quiet everyone was being very mindful of the other people in the restaurant. Food was okay. Nothing special. Overpriced. Was surprised this restaurant was given 4.9. Ordered chicken tenders for my 5yo. But it was a fail. Chicken was so hard, burnt. (Photo attached) Had to tell the server and they replaced it with a new one. Not the chicken tenders that we all know. Love the french toast crème brûlée tho. Server was like a robot. Mid unpleasant. Mid unfriendly.

First time here today. Great menu, good prices and nice portions. Tried the Chef’s Benedict and loved it! Great combination of flavors and the pork belly was perfect. Definitely want to try a lot more of this place!

Currently on holiday from the UK and decided to visit Early Morning Delight after reading the rave reviews on Google and Reddit. I ordered the Nutella & Banana French Toast, alongside a Steak Fajita Skillet and they absolutely did not disappoint - easily a 10/10. The flavor was incredible. I’d highly recommend stopping by and I’d return in a heartbeat!

What a lovely little hole in the wall. Not a chain. Not a glam spot. But the food and the service were exceptional. The fact that it’s reminiscent of a greasy spoon diner adds to the charm, but the food is next level. I enjoyed a delish and very filling pork belly hash. My hubby had huevos rancheros. Both dishes were prepared fresh to order. The Mexican hot chocolate was like desert in a mug. Soooo good. And the host/server was so caring. Definitely will be back!

The food and service here was amazing. I’ve been looking for some good breakfast in Lincoln Square, and everything we ordered was phenomenal! Everyone was so sweet and the food came out fast. This is definitely going to become a regular spot.

This place was so unassuming, but damn did it deliver! I don't often write reviews after one visit, but you just have to grab a bite here. I got a special for lunch, Pork Belly Hash. Delicious, tender and flavorful pork belly with sautéed potatoes, squash, peppers, onions, sweet potatoes, and a couple fried eggs, topped with sweet and sour sauce. An unexpected, but incredible combo of flavors cooked to perfection. The service was impeccable with our friendly and efficient server never letting our coffee mugs reach empty. Bright interior with a causal vibe. Perfect for a slow lunch with an old friend. You'll be 5 mugs of coffee deep before you realize how much time has passed. Truly a hidden gem that you have to check out!

Came on a Saturday morning, maybe 10 20 am. Place was pretty busy but there was no one waiting and no one behind me. I asked for a table for two and was told I would have to wait since there were no tables available. There in fact was a table available... a four seater where one of the chairs had been taken by another group. When I asked about it, they said "that's meant for a larger party" Asked again after about 5 mins and they double downed that I could not be seated. No one coming in and multiple other people leaving. I didn't even bother staying after that poor service. Food smelt fine and looked okay, but I guess I'll never know now

Overall, food was pretty good. I was super disappointed because I came for the guava pancakes which are advertised on their website and available in an online order. They advertised guava French toast inside on the menu board but when I asked to upgrade to guava pancakes, the waiter said they only have French toast. I asked to do the same toppings but on pancakes and he said they actually don't have guava... but then my friend ordered a guava smoothie and it's likely the same syrup. Kinda ridiculous. Anyway... did a BYO scramble and it was tasty. Came with toast and potatoes. Potatoes were good but pretty oily, ended up blotting them on my napkin before eating. Scramble was tasty. Def smaller portions for the price than other places bc they up charge for everything. I was charged $2 for spinach and had literally two spinach leaves in my scramble. Overall it was good, just disappointing about the guava pancakes and the upcharges were a bit much.

This place is a must-try! Chef Efrain is super friendly and clearly loves what he does. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and creative, with a menu that keeps changing to offer something new every time. Huevos Rancheros is a must try! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and you can tell the whole team takes pride in what they do. Highly recommend for anyone who loves great food and great service. I can't wait to come back!

Typical overly busy Sunday afternoon breakfast spot. Very small space and fast pace so if you're looking for a more relaxing and calm environment you're better off somewhere else. Even though nothing was wrong with any of the orders i noticed the staff constantly apologizing to the customers for wrong or late orders. Iced Vanilla Latte: Comes in a plastic cup with a lid and straw like it's for a to go order so not very physically appealing. Flavor wise its okay nothing note worthy Waffle Sandwich: Lacking flavor feels like it's missing something to give it a kick, the sweetness in the waffle just isn't enough Chorizo Hash: Opposite of waffle sandwich, very flavorful with great variety you'd want from a breakfast hash. Mateo's Crepes: Good size portion for only being two crepes. Filled generously with strawberry, banana and Nutella.

Only one word comes to mind when thinking of Early Morning Delight: WOW! This place has been through many aesthetic changes - and somehow items on the menu are always spelled wrong. This inside joke between myself and my friends only makes this charming spot all the more special! The chef at the wheel here is a culinary mastermind - every single dish, vegan or not, is uniquely crafted for maximum deliciousness. The ingredients seem good too - I never leave here feeling too full or weighed down, despite always cleaning up the entire plate. Notably, the staff have given me and my friends a special serving of French Toast on more than one occasion. It is such a great little treat! If you're looking for a spot to bring out of towners, link up with your friends, have a casual breakfast date - THIS IS THE PLACE! How does Chicago keep being the best place ever??

Tasty but did not match the very high expectations.. Steak is well cooked though so I would come back to try another steak dish. Service was incredibly slow despite a half empty room..

Just come! From the food to the service everything about this place was indeed a delight. The one and only issue was the cold and unbuttered pancake but everything else was seasoned really well. The avocado chorizo toast is delicious and getting the chipotle sauce on it is a MUST. Unassuming place but definitely a staple now!

Are you tired of overhyped breakfast places that have long waits on weekends? EMD is here to sweeten your weekend lunch experience! Came here around 1pm and no wait. I keep coming back for their Piñacolada French toast and chorizo hash (no pic cos hubs ate it so fast!) Food here is tasty, servers are charming and menu has perfect Latin vibes! Rumor is that the chef of the now closed Marmalade on Montrose is the chef here. Can anyone confirm?

Wow! What a refreshing time we had at Early Morning Delight! We had amazing service, delicious meals and a reasonable price. We were able to sit outdoors on this beautiful fall morning.

I have to start with how awesome the service was here.. Alejandra was our server and she was great! She made us feel like we were at home away from home! The food was great! Especially the Cajeta Churros French Toast. This restaurant is small and has a cozy feel. There is also an outside dining area and a huge window that they had open which I loved in this nice weather! Great experience!

Okay WOW WOW WOW !!! First of all the chef came over to talk to us and sent us a few items to try, the potato leek soup and the beignets!! The first bite of the potato leek soup was INSANE I mean yall I don't even eat soup like that and it was SOOOO good!?? The sour cream was the perfect touch! I wanted to lick the bowl lol. The Mexican hot chocolate and the toasted marshmallows !?? Please ?? The location is so cute with lots Of street parking around! I love the family feel of this spot! I will definitely be back for lunch! 100000 starts to Early Morning Delight!!!!!

We happened into this place because we were in the area - and I'm SO GLAD we did. The food was AMAZING!!! It was a breakfast menu with a lot of Latin American influences, done with incredible attention to detail on a really high level. I likened it to The Bryn Mawr Breakfast Club (which is near us). I wish I had taken photos of the food! The French toast was *bruleed* with the bananas on top, bruleed, as well, for this AMAZING sweet, crispy on the outside, pillowy on the inside texture. The flavors on my skillet meal were INCREDIBLE and unexpected. So amazing. We will definitely be back! One more thing... the customer service was AMAZING! We were checked in on and had a conversation with (I assume?) the owner. He was so great and we were taken care of at every turn. SO GREAT!!!

Service was great. Presentation of the food is absolutely 5stars but the overall taste was a solid 4 stars. The coffee was Meh- which was a total disappointment.

Listen! You must eat here! As far as small local, kinda of hole in the wall, but larger capacity, goes, this place is phenomenal. Customer Service was a 10 out of 10. Food was amazing. Everything I ate tasted gourmet. Super creative menu and I thoroughly enjoyed everything I had and they exceeded my expectations. I had the salmon omelette, which was awesome. I had their special French toast, which had graham crackers and berries, which they gave me a sample which was nice. It was delicious. I had the churro french toast, amazing! The potatoes were so seasoned, crispy, and delicious. I could eat those alone as a meal. I am so glad that I took the time to give this place a shot because ideally, I'm atmosphere and aesthetic driven when I try places. This is not one of those places that you go for the vibes. You go to eat and eat really good and the service again was awesome. The owners niece was my waitress. She was so sweet. I was the only person in the restaurant when I went to eat and they made me feel really special. The hot chocolate by far was the best I've had.

This place is phenomenal! Some of the best breakfast I've had to date in Chicago, in all honesty, and the service just made it that much better! We showed up with a party of six and were greeted with fresh, homemade donuts with a peanut butter and jelly drizzle, and then, were extremely well taken care of throughout service with hot coffee and refills. We stayed at around after chatting with the owner who was so kind and generous, even sending us off on the road with to go drinks! The ambience and atmosphere it was great, with a nice outdoor patio and east parking. 10/10! I will definitely be going back!!

The food is always amazing. We have never had a bad meal here. The service has improved over time and is wonderful now. You're definitely able to sit with a group and converse. Also the patio is so cute! We've had the chilaquiles, avocado toast, huevos rancheros and more. Everything tastes amazing!

I visited them and tried their Jesus Skillet. It was amazingly succulent. It was sauteed with soft juicy pulled pork caramelized in mango habanero and whiskey and came with perfectly cooked sweet potatoes eggs and veggies. Who knew that would taste so good! This place is now my regular go to breakfast/brunch.

This place is beyond delight! It's rare that I go to a place that I get to experience breakfast and lunch in a whole new way. So far, after coming here for a few months, Early Morning Delight never disappoints and their specials are always next level .

I've been to this restaurant for breakfast on multiple occasions with my family and we always bring visitors form out of town too. The people who work there are always so friendly and often bring us free tastes of the menu. I've had multiple items from the menu- what I like most about this place is that the flavours are different from other nearby breakfast spots. I believe they are also open for lunch, however I've not been - YET!

First time here. Amazing! We were big fans of the menu and quality of Marmalade, and were sorely disappointed when it closed as fallout from the Covid pandemic. I only recently discovered that the former chef of Marmalade is the chef/owner of Early Morning Delight. Efrain immediately recognized my wife and I, and instantly remembered her favorite breakfast meal! The omelets were outstanding and big--enough for a leftover breakfast tomorrow. The potatoes are moist and flavorful. Each omelette was topped with a spread that Efrain made; mine with a feta/peppers mix, and my wife with grounded sun dried tomatoes. We will be back often!

My server was lovely and efficient without being overbearing. The food was delicious and unique, I've never seen a poblano stuffed chilaquiles before, and the perfect portion for a weekday brunch. I also loved the horchata latte, not too sweet and perfectly spiced. I'll be back!

My first time here, the customer service was very respectful. These were just the two things that I really like the most. I had an breakfast sandwich as well but i didn't finish it....I took two bites and was done. I will just say it was okay to me. I would definitely come back again and try other things in the future because I think there might be other options on the menu that may change the 3 stars I gave to a 4 star review or maybe a 5 star review

Hello 2023! So first time trying this newer neighborhood breakfast spot. Got the artichoke omelette which came with potatoes and toast and fruit. I will say the omelette was pretty tasty! Thought there was a decent amount of veggies and cheese. The potatoes were seasoned well and toast was tasty. I will say that I wish the fruit was more than just melon, but I don't really eat melon and love berries more! For the amount of food I got, I would say the price was decent as well. Not crazy expensive but not bargain diner prices either. I thought it was fine, though. Since this was a takeout order, I can't judge how it is to dine in here. But I will say that the food was good and warrants an visit indoors at some point.

I have been here three times and it is great every single time. All the food is great and they are also BYOB. Also, everyone that works here is so nice and accomodating. It is definitely a hidden gem.

A delight indeed, stunning presentation, love the fried potatoes, they look good and taste even better. I've enjoyed the potatoes on my two visits and plan to order them on my next. As noted, the food looks wonderful, reflecting special attention in preparation. An extensive menu of intriguing items along with chalkboard options makes decisions difficult. We absolutely loved Early Morning Delight! A perfect diner in North Center. The food is great. My breakfast burrito and potatoes were so flavorful. So happy to have this place in the neighborhood. The service was friendly and attentive. Also loved the patio seating!

Went in late morning and received great service and freshly prepared food and delectable breakfast deserts! The small store front isn't eye catching but look for it, and go! Will always come back.

Got the breakfast burrito today and it was borderline disgusting. One of the worst breakfast burritos I've ever had. Literally bland soggy mess that I couldn't finish. Decided to try after all the reviews and am extremely disappointed and wouldn't recommend to anyone at all.

Ordered take out and the food was fine. I got the burrito and it was bland and eggs were wayyyy overcooked. This was not worth $16.00. My coworkers got the spartan omelette and the aztec omelette. Without the sauce for each omelette, they would have been bland. Once again, eggs were overcooked. Definitely NOT worth damn near $20 an omelette... seriously. And potatoes that came with each meal were burnt. Go to Pastores and Brunch if you want quality flavor and fair prices.

Don't let this tiny, nondescript location fool you. This place is fantastic. I'd walked by so many times and thought the chef from Marmalade opening up here must be good, but it had been a taco hole-in-the-wall and I kept walking. I'm so glad I finally tried it when I had friends visiting and we decided to give it a go. The staff is so friendly and warm, it infects the entire experience including the delicious food. The churro french toast was to die for. The crazy sounding Texas BBQ skillet was so chicago... ribs and fries?! But surprisingly outstanding. (Beware, their fries are coated and not gluten free). Everyone in our party of eight was raving. This is a neighborhood gem.

Been wanting to try this place for a while , and finally got around to it this morning since I had random PTO from work to use up before the year ends and thought it would be less crowded than the weekend. Their menu is overwhelming since there are so many things I wanted to try. I ended up getting the poblano chilaquiles and they were amazing. The server was also really attentive and friendly, and I got to try their Beignet on the house and that was also delicious. He also always made sure to top off my coffee. Can't wait to try more food here.

I met a few friends here for brunch today. A small place but we were seated promptly near the front window. This place is fabulous! The food was phenomenal! The coffee (UMBRIA) was spectacular and the service was excellent! But I'm not really surprised since the head chef, is Efrain, from Marmalade (Damen/Montrose), which I used to frequent when it was still open. I had the mushroom skillet with 2 over easy eggs & wheat toast. Really great hearty mushroom skillet dish with so much flavor throughout. 3 or 4 different kinds of shrooms included mixed with onions, cheese & breakfast potatoes. If you get the chance to experience EMD, DO it. You won't be disappointed. This place is still a hidden gem on Irving Park near Damen/Lincoln. KUDOS EMD!

One of our greatest experiences with brunch ever! I didn't get our servers name but he was an older Latino man, so so kind! My hubby asked if they had a banana smoothie on the menu and unfortunately they did not. However, he went out of his way to make this happen for us. He also brought out some Beignets on the house! They were the perfect touch to our meal today. I ordered the Papi skillet with Tinga and it was super flavorful! Hubby got Chorizo hash and enjoyed every bite. Our only opinion was the potatoes could have been smaller.. My oat milk latte was perfect too. Food came out fairly quickly. We'll DEFINITELY be back! Absolutely loved this place. Do they cater weddings??????

This place is top tier a must go in Chicago. The waiter was so serving and kind and attentive. Also they have a cute patio in the back that's just adorable! Not only that but they served us a sample of their sweet breakfast items, a special french toast and it was amazing. All the food was great. I got the chorizo avocado toast and my sister got the classic eggs Benedict. But anything you order here you can't go wrong!

When I say this was the best breakfast I've had practically ever I would not be exaggerating! Omg. My friend and I met and shared the portabella Benedict and the Jesus Skillet. The owner came by with beignets to start us off. He is so sweet and friendly. Looks like a typical diner; food/ service were Amazing!!! GO!

The food here is simply DELICIOUS. Cannot go wrong with anything as far as I can tell. There's no gimmicks on the menu: just good food. Support them!
