Craft beer, wine, and comfort food in a cozy haunt

"Every neighborhood needs places like East Harlem Bottling Co. This is the kind of spot that’s perfect for so many things - lunch in your workout clothes, dinner with your friends who live nearby, brunch with your kids, or posting up at the bar to watch a game. Owned by a husband and wife team who felt like their neighborhood needed its own Peach Pit (or Central Perk, or Cheers, depending on which sitcom setting you most identify with), East Harlem Bottling Co. has a communal feel, probably the best selection of beers on tap above 86th St, and most importantly, surprisingly good food - brunch is tasty, and both their burger and wings are excellent. Generally speaking, this place is a home run for this neighborhood. Food Rundown Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes Big, fluffy, ricotta-assisted pancakes smothered in blueberries. They’ll hit the spot if you’re in the mood. Dos Waffles A giant Belgian waffle made to order with berry compote and whipped cream. For when you want something very substantial, this is your brunch move. Chicken & Waffles Same waffles, just add fried chicken. It’s not the best chicken & waffles you’ll ever had, but it most certainly gets the job done. Avocado Toast Just in case you want to keep it kind of healthy, this is here for you. Burger A classic pub burger, no bells or whistles. Just a big juicy patty on a lightly toasted brioche bun with cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and secret sauce. This is our go-to order here. Wings Big time sleeper wing alert in East Harlem. The classic buffalo-style wings are a home run at Bottling Co. Plump, juicy and excellently spicy, we are very excited to come back here and eat them again. Schaller & Weber Pretzel There’s an awesome old-school German butcher and market on the UES, and Bottling Co. smartly serves a bunch of their greatest hits, like a duo of soft pretzels with multiple brown mustard dipping sauces. Get this if you come here. Bratwurst They serve Shaller & Weber’s famous brats on a soft bun with sauerkraut and sweet & spicy mustard. Yep, they’re good too. Mac & Cheese They take their mac and cheese seriously at Bottling Co., and serve four different kinds - four cheese, sausage, shrimp, and spinach. Pick your poison. Steak Sandwich This is alright - the roll, the caramelized onions, and especially the jus they serve to dunk in - but the steak is just a little tough and chewy. They should replace the hangar steak in this sandwich with skirt steak and they’d be in business." - Andrew Steinthal
"If you’re looking for takeout brunch or a comfort food dinner involving a cheeseburger and some onion rings, you can call East Harlem Bottling Co at 646-922-7705 or go to their website to place your order (and check their Instagram page for details and updates)." - hannah albertine, nikko duren, bryan kim, arden shore, matt tervooren
"If you like beer and live in the area, you probably already know about this neighborhood bar and restaurant between 107th and 108th Streets on Lexington Avenue. But you might not know that this is one of the best places to get a pub burger in the neighborhood. Or, that they’re currently serving lunch and weekend brunch outdoors on their plant-covered patio." - hannah albertine, nikko duren
"If the characters from Friends had realistic day jobs (instead of paleontologist and musician masseuse) and lived uptown, they’d all hang out at East Harlem Bottling Co. after work. This is the kind of neighborhood bar/restaurant where friendship feels inevitable, even if it’s just for a few hours. Stop by on a weekday and grab some wings and beers, or go for the burger. It's one of the best in the area." - hannah albertine, bryan kim, neha talreja
"Technically, East Harlem Bottling Co. is a bar - but it’s nicer than about 90% of other places where you can sit on a stool, eat some wings, and drink a beer. Think of it as a really comfortable pub where you could sit with a date who’s in at least one book club, and try it for dinner the next time you want a good fried chicken sandwich and a beer. Especially if it’s before 7pm on a weekday (that’s when they have Happy Hour deals)." - hannah albertine, bryan kim
