East Harlem Bottling Co. - Review - East Harlem - New York - The Infatuation

"Every neighborhood needs places like East Harlem Bottling Co. This is the kind of spot that’s perfect for so many things - lunch in your workout clothes, dinner with your friends who live nearby, brunch with your kids, or posting up at the bar to watch a game. Owned by a husband and wife team who felt like their neighborhood needed its own Peach Pit (or Central Perk, or Cheers, depending on which sitcom setting you most identify with), East Harlem Bottling Co. has a communal feel, probably the best selection of beers on tap above 86th St, and most importantly, surprisingly good food - brunch is tasty, and both their burger and wings are excellent. Generally speaking, this place is a home run for this neighborhood. Food Rundown Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes Big, fluffy, ricotta-assisted pancakes smothered in blueberries. They’ll hit the spot if you’re in the mood. Dos Waffles A giant Belgian waffle made to order with berry compote and whipped cream. For when you want something very substantial, this is your brunch move. Chicken & Waffles Same waffles, just add fried chicken. It’s not the best chicken & waffles you’ll ever had, but it most certainly gets the job done. Avocado Toast Just in case you want to keep it kind of healthy, this is here for you. Burger A classic pub burger, no bells or whistles. Just a big juicy patty on a lightly toasted brioche bun with cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and secret sauce. This is our go-to order here. Wings Big time sleeper wing alert in East Harlem. The classic buffalo-style wings are a home run at Bottling Co. Plump, juicy and excellently spicy, we are very excited to come back here and eat them again. Schaller & Weber Pretzel There’s an awesome old-school German butcher and market on the UES, and Bottling Co. smartly serves a bunch of their greatest hits, like a duo of soft pretzels with multiple brown mustard dipping sauces. Get this if you come here. Bratwurst They serve Shaller & Weber’s famous brats on a soft bun with sauerkraut and sweet & spicy mustard. Yep, they’re good too. Mac & Cheese They take their mac and cheese seriously at Bottling Co., and serve four different kinds - four cheese, sausage, shrimp, and spinach. Pick your poison. Steak Sandwich This is alright - the roll, the caramelized onions, and especially the jus they serve to dunk in - but the steak is just a little tough and chewy. They should replace the hangar steak in this sandwich with skirt steak and they’d be in business." - Andrew Steinthal
