The 25 Best Restaurants In Alameda

"Alameda is just across the water from Oakland’s Chinatown, but there’s no need to cross a bridge for exciting dim sum. East Ocean is a busy Cantonese spot where extended families and big friend groups go to spend a weekend morning, thanks to the always solid selection of dim sum staples. Go all in on an assortment of standard steamed and pan-fried goods, like custard buns and turnip cakes, plus bigger entrees like congee and beef chow fun. " - julia chen 1, lani conway

The Essential Guide to Eating and Drinking in Alameda

"It says something that this huge, 360-seat Chinese restaurant often has hour-long waits. People flock to this family-run, longtime Alameda staple for its quality Cantonese dishes. Another huge draw: the Hong-Kong style dim sum served at lunch, where diners can choose from about 75 items pushed through the dining room on carts. At dinner, selections range from roasted Peking duck to barbecue pork or a large seafood selection including rock cod, sturgeon, lobster, and Dungeness crab." - Meleyna Nomura

East Ocean Seafood Restaurant Review - Quincy - Boston - The Infatuation

"It’s hard for us to comprehend why orange chicken is so popular, especially when sweet and sour chicken tastes so much better. That’s one of our go-to orders at East Ocean, along with the house special chicken and black pepper short ribs. But there’s a wide variety of menu items here, including a lot of seafood, so grab a bunch of things and share them with your roommates/family/significant other who you wish wasn’t your roommate. Or just keep it all for yourself - supposedly, it’s a free country." - Joel Ang

The dim sum here is top-notch—everything tasted fresh and flavorful, especially the shrimp dumplings and pork buns. The staff was attentive, ensuring our teapots were always full. However, the restaurant gets quite crowded on weekends, leading to longer wait times. Also, some dishes felt a bit pricey for the portion size. Overall, a solid spot for a hearty dim sum brunch.

Google
While photographing venues for Alameda Restaurant Week, I made sure to include East Ocean Seafood Restaurant, a dim sum institution on the island. Everything tastes notably fresh, and it's a massive, perfect spot for large parties. The place is never not packed - a testament to its popularity and quality.

20250402 Had my mother-in-law’s Longevity Meal here at their fave restaurant. Under new management and some renovations (FYI women’s bathroom temporary offering outside in parking lot & handicap restroom in private dining area). Very good food, efficient and friendly service. Thank you. We always have a nice meal & good times with family here.

Google
A gem in Alameda. Authentic dim sum both authentic in flavors and presentation: they still present them in traditional self-heating mobile carts, and mark by stamps😃 Classics are classic here, you can’t go wrong with almost anything, they are yummy and shiny ✨ Staffs were efficient, they went above and beyond to help you. And food recommendations from them were just flooding towards you - they had so many choices and new items that they couldn’t wait for you to try it all! It’s funny how fast we filled our table in just the first five minutes 😅 Overall it’s a happy venue with yummy food😊 Ample parking in its own parking lot in the back.

Google
This spot is still my favorite dim sum place in the bay area. East Ocean is probably the only restaurant that not only survived 2020 and the subsequent COVID fallout, but grew its business. They expanded their restaurant and there was hardly any wait to get a table. In the old days it could be over an hour wait. The quality of the food is the same. Everything still tastes amazing. The carts are loaded down with our favorite dim sum. We stopped coming for a while because the prices also increased to a point where we didn't feel like we were getting value for what we were paying. After years of withdrawal, and a visiting friend, we happily returned. The check shows what sized dishes we ordered. Not a ton and cost $120 for 3 people. I remember when a small plate was $1, and you could eat your fill for under $20. We paced ourselves and only ordered our favorites and did not try other dishes like we might have in the past.

Google
Came for dim sum on a Saturday. Everything was good--especially chive dumplings, har gao and the incredible sesame crackle-top buns with custard inside. Steamed pork buns were better than I usually have, soup dumplings just okay, fried rice was fantastic. I'd easily go back.

Google
Their Kung Pao chicken lacks the traditional flavors of classic Chinese cuisine, resembling more of a typical stir-fried chicken dish. Other dishes also fall short of the expected seasoning. However, the food is served quickly, and the waitstaff are very helpful.

Google
Respectable good dim sum place, tho not as good as Koi Palace which I think is the most authentic place in the Bay. Food comes around in cart. Service is attention with removal of empty dishes pretty fast. Dim sum is serviced until 2:30pm for lunch.

Yelp
Quick fast service Don't have to wait long to be seats unless you have a big party then maybe 20-30 minutes We always go for Dim Sum been going there for 6 -7 year Wish they brought back the ginger tofu dessert

Yelp
A special birthday celebration and the guest of honor wanted dim sum. We decided try a restaurant that she had never eaten at so instead of dim sum in San Francisco or the Peninsula we decided to try one of the dim sum restaurants in the East Bay. We had a 11:30 reservation. The place was not crowded and were seated immediately. East Ocean still offers dim sum on a cart service. The atmosphere inside felt clean, bright and very roomy. Service was courteous and friendly. They do charge $2 per person for tea. We checked off what dim sum dishes we wanted off the dim sum menu and chose some off of the service cart. East Ocean turned out to be a good experience with a good variety of dim sum. We ordered 12 dim sum dishes. There was only one dim sum dish that all of us did not enjoy. The Baked Cha Sui Bow was all bread with no meat. Wish I took a picture of the inside of the bow! 1 bad out of 12 is not too bad. The Chow Fun dish was okay but not enough taste; needed to add hot sauce. Overall the experience was good food, good atmosphere and good service.

Yelp
Here's what I disliked first and I encourage patrons to carefully review their receipts. We were charged for 7 people drinking tea at $2.00/per person when there were clearly only four adults drinking tea (the others in our party were six kids). I'm not one to be petty as an extra $6 doesn't break the bank but it's the principle. Seems like a shady business practice and they're hoping people don't pay close attention to the bill. I couldn't bring myself to say anything because we only noticed after we paid. Then, to top that negative impression was having to ask three times (two of which to the same staff) and waited 15 minutes for them to bring us to go boxes to pack up left over food. So, please carefully check your receipts before paying to make sure you're getting charged correctly. What I did like- Initially when we entered, I was impressed by the aesthetics, cleanliness, and customer service. I like how there are carts being pushed around and staff offering the dim sum items. There was a large variety of dim sum items and taste/flavor was decent. However, I wish the rice flour wraps around the dim sum dishes like the har gow, har cheung, and Sui Mai were thinner.

Yelp
Solid place for dimsum. There's a small parking lot behind the restaurant so be prepared to find street parking instead. Service was good. Plenty of seating. Food was good but was honestly a bit shocked at the pricing being expensive as it was. We got all the usuals and some speciality items like the rice noodle rolls which was my favorite. But all the food was good!

Yelp
Went for Dim Sum lunch and was happy for most of the meal. Service was excellent while a few of the items were a miss. The restaurant has recently remodeled with a bar located at the entrance with a lot of glass allowing for natural light from the front entrance. They are also going through a bathroom remodel which is a positive sign that they plan to go all out and make this a competitive restaurant to the other Cantonese / Dim Sum restaurants on Webster. Added advantage that they have a fairly big parking lot. Ordered the basics of: Phung Jouw, Siu Mai, Har Guow, Hom Sei Gok, Char Siu Cheong, Sa Wang, Pai Guet, Gno Yook Ko, Gee Mah Woon, and a Mushroom E-Fu Noodle dish. Translation: Chicken Feet, Pork Dumpling, Shrimp Dumpling, Fried Meat Dumpling, BBQ Pork Rice Roll, Sugar Puff Beignet, Steamed Pork Riblets, Beef Meat Ball, Sweet Black Sesame Desert Roll, and Mushroom Noodles. We liked all of the dishes except for the Chicken Feet and the Sugar Puff Beignet. The chicken feet needed more cooking as the digits did not break apart to smaller pieces and the sugar puff was dense and not airy. Otherwise, we were happy with the food that we ordered. EOSR is a little pricier than the other dim sum restaurants on Webster. Much improved from our last visit years ago.

Yelp
Always a winner here with excellent service. The place is clean and staff is very courteous and friendly. We enjoy the food here as it is consistent and fresh. Free parking in the back is a plus.

Yelp
Docking 1 star off because they had a portable women's restroom (2 stalls only) for the entire restaurant. It seemed the regular restrooms were out of service for quite some time and they didn't bother fixing them and also cleaning the portable ones, disgusting. While service was great but I couldn't overlook the restroom situation. Also, some of the dim sums tasted bland (i.e. chicken feet and lotus leaf wrapped sticky rice). Overall, nothing to rave about and the price point was a tad high considering the location and the nearby competitions. Would not return again.

Yelp
Where do I even start with East Ocean? This place has been my go-to dim sum spot for years. I've checked in so many times, posted so many picture only to get kicked off the main page because this place is just that popular. Back when I lived in Alameda, this was the weekend morning spot. And if you know, you know...the lines would be insanely long just trying to get in. But honestly? Worth every minute.! Whether I was craving some solid dim sum, a comforting bowl of jook, or just needed to start my weekend right, East Ocean always delivered. The food? Always on point. The service? Impeccable. The vibes? Unmatched. A big shoutout to Sarah, my favorite waitress--she's been taking care of us forever. She's watched my kids grow up, and to this day, she still recognizes them, talks to them, and makes us feel right at home. That kind of service? You don't find that everywhere. And Millie? She's always there, making sure we're taken care of, greeting us like family. That's the kind of hospitality that keeps me coming back.

Yelp
We went to celebrate a birthday there yesterday. They had half of the restaurant closed for a celebration , so our food took awhile to arrive to our table and when it came it was all at once which made the table small for so much food we were 10 people so ideally we should be sitting a bigger table but the staff was really friendly 8 think just too busy. I do not eat seafood so, I only tried half of it and I liked what I tried but it wasn't anything extraordinary that deserves a higher evaluation. I usually prefer smaller restaurants over large ones like East OCean.

Yelp
This is a great, authentic dim sum spot in the East Bay! It's also one of the few dim sum spots I've visited in recent years that still offers cart service. I got some of the classics like har gow and chicken feet, and they were all tasty. This location is pretty spacious with tons of tables, but it still fills up pretty quickly on the weekends. I recommend coming early (by ~11:30am), or else you may have to wait a bit. Note that there's a small parking lot behind the restaurant, so you don't have to worry about looking for street parking nearby.

Yelp
5 stars for amazing food, staff, and atmosphere. I think this spot has everything you'd want in a Chinese joint. Don't skip out on the Peking duck. I've been here multiple times now and I'm certain I'll be back! Thanks EOSR!

Yelp
Dim Sum Paradise! This is our go-to dim sum restaurant. We usually go for lunch on Saturdays. There is still cart sevice, which is nice. We have been here a few times now and ut has been consistently good. They have a good variety of steamed, fried, noodles, and desserts. The food tastes fresh and is always warm. This Saturday they even had a cart with drinks and mimosas. The service is always great as well and we've always felt attended to and welcome. It's not as big as some of the larger dim sum restaurants we've been to, but it is large enought accomadate large parties.
google avatar

Yelp
The worst excuse for Chinese I've ever experienced. Chicken was slimy, service was slow and inept. I'd never eat here again. Asked for for my dish to have no water chestnuts, yet it made up 60% of the almond chicken dish. East Ocean makes Panda Express worthy of a Michelin star by comparison.
google avatar

Howard S.

Yelp
The ambiance is great if you get a table overlooking the water. Their prices are based upon the view not the quality of the food. Unfortunately we were seated in a back room with no view. The food was disappointing.
google avatar

Yelp
4 Stars - Great Spot if You're in the Area First impression: beautiful space! Much bigger inside than it looks from the outside--plenty of room for large groups or events. Clean, nicely decorated, and the vibe is relaxed but polished. Service was great too--lots of staff on the floor and everyone was friendly and attentive. The food was fresh and tasty. We ordered two lunch specials and two appetizers, which came out to $56 total--about $28 per person. Not outrageous, but the portion sizes felt a little small for the price. That said, the flavors were solid and the overall experience was enjoyable. If I lived a little closer I'd come back. It's a great lunch or casual dinner spot. But for me, it's not quite a "drive-out-of-your-way" destination--which I've been known to drive to another state for a good meal

Yelp
Did you know you can book lunch banquets? Neither did I. I was tasked with booking a restaurant for a traditional Chinese banquet celebration for a lunch with many of the attendees were kids. So upon perusing the website, I wasn't certain what type of lunch that's available to us - dim sum, lunch menu, etc. When I first spoken with someone at the restaurant over a call, I was informed that they do not allow reservations for lunch, and I'll have to come in the day of and get on a waiting list. That is impossible trying to coordinate dining for 23 people, including 6 kids. Since it was my first time planning a restaurant experience for a large group, I honestly was trying to figure out how to do this in one week's notice. Luckily on my second call the next day, I was able to talk to Millie, the restaurant manager. She explained to me that yes we can book a lunch banquet (there are a couple of menu options available). We can book the tables by bringing in the deposit before the reservation date. YAY! The banquet went very smoothly. It was super convenient to be able to park and enter the restaurant through the back entrance. It's a beautifully-decorated spacious venue. The food was great and good portions. Since it's a birthday celebration, they gave us complimentary lotus buns, including a GIANT one. They also cut the cakes we brought. Everyone loved the food, even picky eaters. We all had a great time. Thanks, Millie and team!

Yelp
A fan favorite and it's not hard to see why. They have an actual lot in the back, which is convenient, but it is semi small. There's an entrance back there, but you have to go to the front to be seated. If they're not too busy, they might catch you on the way and just seat you. Weekend mornings have dim sum push carts with all the usual suspects. Their roast pork and duck are pretty good, but I'd skip the porridge (congee). That was bland even with some soy sauce and chili sauce. Speaking of.. their chili sauce is pretty good, flavorful without being too spicy. Our table didn't have any so I did have to ask for it, but they were quick to bring it out. The ladies pushing the carts were quick to bring us options to select from and everything was piping hot. I think portions are good for each dish, but highly recommend you have at least 3-4 people otherwise you'll end up spending too much trying everything you want. We got the following for about $133: chow mein yu choy (chinese broccoli) steamed black bean spareribs chicken feet roast pork roast duck congee fried dumplings with meat har gow shu mai steamed rice roll with shrimp pot of tea Once they see your table is full, they'll start skipping you but if there's anything specific you want, just flag someone down to ask. They were super quick to bring whatever we needed and water was constantly refilled. This location is a good size, and often booked in the evening for weddings, funerals, bdays, etc. Yes dim sum can be pricey but all of them are nowadays unless you're hitting a take out only spot. For the service and food quality, prices are reasonable, and will always be in rotation anytime I want dim sum.

Yelp
I've been eating dim sum at East Ocean with my wife since moving to Alameda in 2013. We eat here every few months on the weekend. This is by-far the best dim sum in the East Bay. The service is actually pretty good too. The staff is bilingual unlike most dim sum restaurants. Har Gow has been a lifelong favorite dim sum dish of mine and they do a good job at it. Beef rice noodle with soy sauce is also another favorite of mine. I have several other go-tos that I get here though it's hard to translate the names from Cantonese to English. My main issue is that the prices have been steadily increasing, which to be fair most other restaurants' prices are too but the price of dim these days is pretty high here. Overall, if you want a good, classic dim sum experience with the push carts then visit East Ocean.
google avatar

Stephanie T.

Yelp
The dim sum here is solid! My party came in about an hour before dim sum ended and they still had so many options. We got our general favorites like har gow, shrimp rice rolls, chicken claws, and jellyfish and they were all pretty good. I wish the jellyfish had more flavor other than sesame oil, but the texture was nice and firm and still a good bite. What surprised me was the fried meat dumpling. It was perfectly chewy and crispy. Maybe it's cause I'm used to only having those at the grocery store, but I'm definitely ordering that every time I go to dim sum from now on. The interior is beautiful and modern. I was told that the place looks kind of rundown initially but it looks aesthetically pleasing and it's bright inside. The service here was decent too. They accidentally gave us the wrong plate that another table ordered but happily took it back without a fuss. All in all, it's not top tier dim sum I've had but it's pretty good because of the dining experience and its prices are lower than other places.

Yelp
Great staff. Very fast and delicious dim sum. We've had many family gatherings here and working with management on an event here was seamless. The food is worth it. Fave go-to items are the XO noodles, shu mai, shrimp and chive dumplings, soup dumplings and honey walnut shrimp. It is busy on the weekends but they've expanded so the wait is usually no longer than minutes. It is fast paced inside and can be a bit loud but like a good kind of loud (if you know what I mean). Love that this is a family fave!

Yelp
Stopped by at 1:30pm on a Sunday and had no trouble finding metered street parking. We were seated right away, and as soon as we sat down, multiple dim sum carts rolled up, plus a mimosa cart, which was fun and unique! We ordered a variety of classics: shrimp dumplings, siu mai, steamed pork spareribs, sticky rice in lotus leaf, beef offal, XO sauce turnip cake, steamed BBQ pork buns, and tofu skin rolls. Everything was pretty standard, but the standout dish was the crispy shrimp rice roll--it arrived hot and fresh, and the shrimp inside was perfectly crispy. While the food was solid, the service really stood out. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly from start to finish

Yelp
After looking at all the dim sum restaurants in the Bay Area on Yelp, we decided to try this spot in Alameda. They were very busy on a Sunday with a lot of large groups, but we were seated right away. My only complaint is that we were seated and not given any menus. It was very loud and the servers were hard to understand which was only a problem because I don't eat meat and I needed to know which dishes were vegetarian. The head server finally brought a menu and then we were good to go. The dim sum was so good I forgot to take a pic until we were almost done eating.

Yelp
Go to restaurant for family brunch. Great for small intimate gatherings or large parties. They push the carts through with small dishes, mimosas and also take orders. The food is delicious. I love the variety of options that are offered. Wonderful, patient service. Definitely will return soon.

Yelp
I got a take out Peking Duck for $75 and it was ok. Not much meat, greasy and the skin wasn't that crisp. The buns were good. LOL I have had much better. I am pretty sure my granddaughter gave it a 3/3 also. She has a very sophisticated palate for a 2 year old.

Cindy F.

Yelp
Shrimp dumpling is soooo good. I like it so much. Delicious food and nice service. Will be here again.

Yelp
Ok. We were looking for a good dim sum experience and saw this had locations in both Alameda and Walnut Creek and had great reviews. So we went to the Alameda location as it is closer. Parking was a small challenge as it is a popular place. It is a very clean and upscale place. Service is really coordinated and amazing. And the food was quite nice. We had congee from a congee cart that came with fresh Chinese donut and chives on top. It came with preserved egg and shredded pork mixed in in generous measure. While we did not prefer the pork bbq buns the rest was outstanding. We will be back!

Yelp
If ya know me, grabbing dim sum for my birthday is a tradition. For a birthday celebration myself, my Dad, and my companion came to East Ocean for lunch. It had been years since my Dad and I last dined inside so we were looking forward to revisiting. On the outside, the restaurant seems unassuming. Yet once you enter it is extremely big and spacious with tables for all party sizes. There is a constant flow of diners coming in and leaving. Coming on a Sunday afternoon, we had no wait. Once you're seated, the dim sum cart workers flock towards you. From there, it's quite easy to order as you receive your food instantaneously. On the other hand, the staff are constantly moving so in order to flag them down for other reasons it can take some time. Regardless, service is efficient and gets the job done. My Dad and I have our favorites for dim sum and my companion knows what to get, so it was easy to pick and choose. Sharing family style we ordered from the carts: Steamed Shrimp Har Gow Dumpling, Steamed Pork & Shrimp Siu Mai, Sweet Rice w/ Meat Wrapped in Lotus Leaf, Baked BBQ Pork Buns, Pan Fried Shrimp & Chives Dumpling, and Shanghai Dumpling. We all agreed that each item was good, well-filled, and nicely portioned. My favorites were the Har Gow and Shrimp and Chives Dumpling since they had a lot of shrimp! I felt like the xiao long baos could use some work as they were deflated and had no soup. The lo mai gai rice was super wet and didn't hold up well but had a good amount of protein. We all agreed we wouldn't mind coming back again. I especially want to so I can try their other items not offered in the carts. For those in the East Bay, I recommend East Ocean Seafood Restaurant to get your dim sum and Chinese food fix. It's virtually on the corner of Webster Street with a private parking lot in the back.

Yelp
Best dim sum restaurant in the Bay Area! I've been to a bunch of dim sum places in the South Bay and Peninsula, and this is the best one. I grew up eating dim sum daily since my mom worked at a dim sum restaurant. This restaurant gets busy on the weekend, and parking is challenging. If you plan on coming here over the weekend, be prepared to wait until you come early. What stands out about East Ocean is its customer service. I've never experienced such excellent customer service at a Chinese restaurant. They greet and check on you constantly and refill your water without being asked. What's unique about East Ocean is that it has a sushi station. The sushi station is only available on the weekend. My partner tried the sushi and said it was good. For dim sum, I ordered siu mai (pork and shrimp dumpling), har gow (shrimp dumpling), pork ribs w/ black bean sauce, and thousand-year-old egg congee. These dishes I ordered are common dishes you find. Their siu mai here is plump and soft. Not chewy or gristly like some places. Their har gow is huge too with whole shrimp. The pork ribs with/ black bean sauce are delicious. It's not for everyone if you don't like tendon and fat. Thousand-year-old egg congee is a must-order when I get dim sum. If you've never had it, it's just preserved egg with minced pork in a rice porridge and sometimes fried wontons on top. A thousand-year-old egg has a rich egg flavor with a gelatin texture. Don't let the black egg appearance throw you off. If you've never had dim sum or want to introduce someone to dim sum, this is the place.

Yelp
Hands down the BEST dim sum spot I've ever been to. The pork and shrimp shiu mai is absolutely delicious, packed with meat, juicy, and perfectly steamed. The shrimp rice rolls are awesome and the shrimp fried dumplings are great too. I've also been here for dinner and it's really good quality and portions. For dim sum it's very reasonably priced, dinner is expensive though so keep that in mind!

Yelp
Love it! East Ocean is a real treat with every visit. The restaurant is very large and is optimized for maximum seating. No frills, just a lot of great food! We are always quickly seated, and the food starts coming around in a snap. And who doesn't like the choice of dumplings. Most of the dishes are very mainstream and taste wonderful, with sausage, shrimp and pork. Nothing to exotic there. Just great fillings wrapped in pasta. We also had Duck, Pork Belly, Bok choy, noodles and pork sticky buns (my-oh-my). Round after round of food is wheeled by your table. Comfort food just doesn't get any better than this. Quick seating, lightning fast service and best of all, really great food!

Yelp
Dim sum that still has pushing carts really brought back memories of what dim sum experience was for me in my younger years. Food was delicious and the chili oil made everything taste better. I got the chicken feet, siu mai, ha gow, turnip cake, rice noodle, pork spare ribs, and everything single item was great. Service was attentive and of course the carts is what I love. Place was noisy just like how I remember these dim sum spots are. Not too many places like this anymore. I would definitely come back. Parking was easy as well, they have a lot or you can park on the streets. And the wait to get seated took probably 5 minutes at most.

Yelp
This is one of the first Dim Sum spots I have seen bring back the carts since covid happens. Excited to see those carts again which allows us to get food quicker and try new things by just seeing it. Food menu is your standard dim sum restaurant menu. The items were all great, except for the XLB. I felt that could have been more fresh and more soupy. My favorite dishes were the egg tarts, baked custard bun and the fried wings. I am usually not a fan of egg tarts and dessert dishes at dimsum, but these two were incredible. The egg tart has a unique flavor to it. Fried wings were amazing ! East Ocean has a full bar as well if you want to get a little tipsy. They also have a mimosa cart going around. They also had Ramune soda in the cart which could make a for an interesting mimosa mix.

The service was great. The gentleman who served us went above and beyond and made us feel at home. The food, however, was subpar. Soup: Tasted okay, but it was lukewarm. Meat platter: The char siu and roasted pork both had an unappetizing color. The pieces were too large, the texture was coarse, and they lacked flavor. Egg white fried rice: The rice grains were sticky and clumped together. Black pepper beef: The onions, red bell peppers, and green bell peppers were all too raw, and the scallops lacked flavor. Steamed fish: Overcooked. Oyster clay pot: Lukewarm, lacked wok hei, and included the same unappetizing char siu. Complimentary red bean soup: My wife thought it had a strange porky taste. The only dish that was acceptable was the stir-fried broccoli with Japanese egg tofu. I'm not sure how this restaurant has a 4.0 rating with 2,000 reviews. I was under the impression that the dishes were cooked by someone without much experience. The only explanation I can think of is that the chef had left or was on vacation when we dined there.

Yelp
This place was busy on a Saturday morning. We arrived as a party of 3 around 1130am but by the time we left there was a slight wait. Servers and cart ladies and gentlemen were all nice. Food was okay but we have had much better in San Francisco, Daly City, and Dublin. Restaurant is pricey. Each of the dishes we got ranged between $9-14 and our total with tip with 2 adults and a six year old was $125. For the price quality and the innovative ness of the food was simply not there.

Yelp
We came for father's day special dinner. I'm gonna start off by complimenting the owner lady(if you've been coming at this restaurant your whole life, you'll come across this lady), who is very nice, cheerful and very accommodating to all her customers. You're cool in my book. The food, I mean look at the pictures, "eat with your eyes first". The flavor here doesn't miss, I love the meticulous approach to the taste of every single dish. The lobsters were fresh, salted to perfection with that slurry scallion sauce. The crabmeat fishmaw soup was out of this world, it also had very soft/silk tofu. The vanilla honey glazed prawns, wow! Oh and I won't forget about the cold bbq appetizer platter. My goodness, everything here was wayyyy too good. All the food came in hot, fresh, and f***in delicious! (except for the cold appetizers of course lol) We came on a busy afternoon transitioning to dinner hour. (Around 5:30-6pm). The place was packed with big tables for the father's day special dinners for all families. Music was playing, the service staff were smiling. Everything was just so perfect. I love this place. 5 stars! Always gonna come back! I've been coming here since I was young, so definitely gonna say its either this or Chef's Wok one block down. Both awesome places to eat authentic dimsum/lunch/dinner Chinese food.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate a birthday with a large party. The restaurant had lots of room to accommodate. The customer service is very friendly and prompt. The food ordered was: Vanilla Prawns with Honey Glazed Walnuts Honey Pepper Angus Ribeye Beef Cubes Beef Dry Chow Fun Whole Crispy Chicken Fried Rock Cod Fillet with Sweet and Sour Sauce Chicken Fried Rice Sizzling Seafood Combination with Black Bean Sauce Steamed Rice The ambiance is very casual and would come here again! Very yummy food! They were nice enough to store my cake too and provided paper plates and forks to eat. Recommend this place!

Yelp
Came back here after a loooong time and found the place totally overhauled. Nice new decor, clean floors and a new full bar plus sushi bar. I guess they are catering towards a younger, hipper clientele now, they even offer mimosas during brunch service (on a dim sum cart, very cute). The dim sum on the weekends seems to be the same: good, solid food. The prices are on the higher end (we paid about $60 including tip for two adults with mediocre appetite) but the food quality is worth it. The service has improved as well and I haven't been yelled at during this visit :-D.

Yelp
While photographing venues for Alameda Restaurant Week, I made sure to include East Ocean Seafood Restaurant, a dim sum institution on the island. Everything tastes notably fresh, and it's a massive, perfect spot for large parties. The place is never not packed - a testament to its popularity and quality.

Yelp
We came here on Memorial Day and of course they were busy! One of the things that I love is their variety of foods. Not sure if it's due to the holiday. We tried many different dim sums and they tasted so good. Staff were attentive and the restaurant really reminded me how the restaurants are in Hong Kong.

Another favorite- salt and pepper crab! This was a highlight; fresh and delicious! Consistently great food and even better service. Always our favorite family Chinese restaurant.

Yelp
3.5 stars Came around Sat 1pm for party of 4. No wait, sat down immediately. Still got the ladies pushing the dimsum carts! Appreciated the picture menu with the dimsum selection, can also order specialty items like fried rice and noodles Food: Classics like chicken feet, hargow, shaomai, chive and shrimp dumplings on point. Sesame ball had lotus seed filling which was different from traditional red bean filling. Xiao long bao is not recommended (taste like frozen Costco ones) but our fault for ordering a dish that's not specialty at a dimsum restaurant, sigh. Beef in beef rice noodle was off. I expected ground beef pieces but it was mixed with cornstarch or flour to be a lump. Better to stick to classic shrimp rice noodle. Price: $6.95 for medium item, $7.95 for large. Seems to be standard pricing for sit down dimsum restaurants these days...Bill with tax and tip came out to $30/pp. Ambiance: large banquet hall (easily sit 20 ten seater tables) thag looks recently renovated, with bar area upon entering, vinyl flooring, fresh paint. Parking is difficult. Small lot in back, metered parking in front and free residential parking if you're willing to walk a bit.

Yelp
East Ocean is a great place for dim sum and banquet style. There are a few intangibles that can't be changed however that made me give this place a solid four stars instead of five. The first is location. It is nearly impossible to find street parking on Webster esp during high traffic times. We had to park a few blocks down and walk up to the restaurant because of it. Prepare to circle the block for 20 mins unless you come during off hours. The second deals more with the style of food and how it's prepared. We came here for a party and it was banquet style. Everything tasted great but it was a bit oily. From excessive animal fat to just grease, if they would had toned it down a bit it, then it would had been perfect. The only dish I didn't enjoy as much would probably be the fried rice. It had bits of probably extra char siu from the apetizers, with cabbages and egg. There wasn't a shrimp or green onion in sight. But everything else was fairly decent. Overall would recommend for dim sum. Staff is great and friendly, restaurant is clean and spacious, not too much to complain about besides the things I experienced above.

Yelp
This restaurant has accommodated us TWICE now as they've helped us host BOTH my grandparents after funeral dining here. We came back because food was so good and staff are always so friendly! If I recall, both times we rented out the whole restaurant just so we can celebrate my grandparents privately. The restaurant is very clean and decor is very beautiful, service is beyond great! They also have PRIVATE parking in the back! You can't possibly beat that!

Yelp
We had a great time here with our family. We dines in for the their dim sum cart they offer on the weekends. We had to wait for a bit but not too long. The place was pretty packed. I would recommend coming as early as possible because I noticed not too ling after we were seated, a line began to form. Everything we ordered was good, I especially love the shrimp rolls and crispy pork belly. The portions are good and will fill you up. The staff were very attentive considering how busty they were. The restaurant is big and is perfect for large groups. it was recently renovated and well decorated. Will definitely come back with family.

Yelp
This is hands down one of my favorite dim sum places! It's always crowded here but the space is big to accommodate everyone. Parking can be a little tricky sometimes and you'd just have to wait. The service is quick and the cart ladies are very attentive!   There's such a wide variety of options here and there are also three separate menus of additional food but I've never tried ordering from there and have only ate from the carts. They do charge you for tea, but I always ask for mayo as a dipping sauce and they give that for free.   The dim sum tastes fresh and delicious, and I would highly recommend you trying this place if you are in the Oakland area!

Yelp
I've come here on multiple occasions, typically with family who lives out in Castro Valley. This is by far one of the best dim sum restaurants I've been to. arriving on a weekend in the morning, parking in the back is rough, very limited spots and it's tight and if you don't find a spot you'll find your self having to 3 point turn out or reverse, there are designated parking spots specifically for Kelly Moore paints, so you're better off parking on the street. Customer service here is great. There are higher level staff that speak English and can help you place orders for specific items, If you can't find them on the cart going around . Portions are fair and the dim sum pieces are decently sized. It's always busy here. But seating can be obtained within an hour or less typically If you're in the area and looking for dim sun, you should definitely come here.

Yelp
Food - great dim sum and solid Cantonese food Menu variety could be more but I understand the cost factor when you have too many choices Service - quite nice - dinner staff is attentive and lunch / dim sum rush hour is on par or slightly better than other typical dim sum place Ambience- spacious with lots room. Nice location with parking too Price point is fair (not too pricey nor too low( Overall - great place for family from kids to grandparents for nice meal and friendly staff I came to here almost every other time if I'm around Alameda during lunch or dinner time.

Yelp
Had lunch here for the first time today. Wow this restaurant is big but not overwhelming and quite inviting. The service was great. They were serving dim sum and coming around with cars constantly. When you order a lunch meal and turn down the carts they should get the hint you don't want dim sum. Irregardless, all of the staff were very friendly. I had the king pao prawns. Delish. My only negative is that there was so much onion it was too much. Literally I left half a plate of onion. It also could have been spicier as I would expect from a kung pao. But overall the taste was good and it was not greasy. Overall a great lunch. Will definitely be back.
