Eastern Rice Dumpling

Bought 2 rice dumplings at an evening, served by a Chinese man. He was picking his teeth in front a pile of dried shrimps, back facing the counter. Stood there for a moment then he came to take order. Re-heated the red bean dumpling home and found a dark figure in the translucent rice, little then I found out it’s a corpse of an insect encased in the rice! Can’t imagine if someone just popped it in their mouth if it is not so obvious in a savoury dumpling.

24 hours open shop on Balestier rd. They has some kind of rice dumplings. Also make it warm by micro wave they can do. My signature is pepper chicken rice dumpling. I have never seen such very Very good spicy rice dumpling, I’m loving it.

Consistently good with right portion of ingredients n glutinous rice! Rare fine after trying many, many places. Excellent

The Nonya Dumpling tastes good and has decent amount of filling. Price is on the high side.

Rice Dumplings have generous meat portions worth the extra price paid. Tastes better than outside sellers, still cheaper than Kim Choo

Didn’t buy it from them for the past few years and decided to buy the Hokkien dumplings with egg yolk today. Surprised to see the price is $4.50 now. There is a promo of 3 for $13 though, save $0.50. The fillings are still generous, size is still normal ones not bigger, good enough for an adult. Men might want 1.5 to 2 dumplings. Got to admit the taste has dropped a bit. Still good but not that exceptional like before, would rate it above average now.

Standard drop! Doesn't taste good even I bought from other outlets. The glutinous is hard not cook and the filling is too sweet! Eat more you gonna get diabetes!

Hair in Nonya dumpling that I bought from yew tee this evening. When I opened it, there was bad sour smell. I always buy it for my kids. Today I happened to buy one for myself. So unfortunate! I won dare buy again .

Rice dumplings done the right way. Crafted in time honored flavors and traditional way. Too many flavors to choose from. The good part is they are affordable. A mini rice dumpling will cost you SGD 1.60 . Price goes up from there as combo flavors are mixed especially with meats.

Salted brown rice dumpling ($3.10) - 2 stars I guess I got fooled by the name! It was. Very salty. Nonya dumpling ($2.90)

I'm a huge fan of zong zi or bak zhang or rice dumpling especially the nonya version. The combination of rice with glistening oil and finely chopped meats is just perfect. I'm so glad that there is this tiny shop in town that sells good quality rice dumplings all year round so I don't need to wait for dragon boat festival which only happens once a year. The best part is that it is not commercialized, so the taste brings back my childhood memories when I used to eat rice dumplings as my breakfast every other day. OK, the place isn't the flashiest (some would say it's a huge-understatement) but the food really wins out. Don't let the environment fool you. Almost all of their rice dumpling variants are delicious!!!!!! I had a great experience every time I visit. The employe is very nice and helpful. If you visit, I would recommend getting the nonya & salted egg dumplings. They both are fresh and tasty. This place is a must try! I like this place cause the quality of the food and cheap price is a go-to place if you have to feed a big group for a semi heavy or lite lunch at office/home. So cheap but great quality. Located strategically on Balestier rd area and located just a block after Loy Kee restaurant (another fave of mine).
