Yelp
My family and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Eat At Thai and it was an absolute delight. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm and friendly smiles from the staff, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, with traditional Thai elements that transport you to the heart of Thailand. The attention to detail in the decor truly adds to the overall dining experience. It was definitely one of the much more well decorated restaurants I have visited, and had a modern flare to it that was nicely saturated in Thai culture. Like seriously, the food is usually the only thing I like to discuss in reviews, but the decor was so on point that I have to mention it. Great overall ambiance, lighting, and vibe too with a solid music selection.
I was a little worried about the food because of some of the reviews on Yelp and Google. We ordered here before via DoorDash, thought the food was good, but didn't notice the negative reviews until afterwards. However, because my family and I really liked the food we decided to go check in-person to see how it was, and especially to see if the place was cleanly. The restaurant itself is somewhat unassuming from the outside, but inside it is very clean and beautifully decorated. The menu itself was nicely decorated, and offered a variety of authentic Thai dishes that looked super good.
We started with their giant Tom Yum soup and it was out of this world. The combination of lemongrass, lime leaves, and chili created a broth that was both refreshing and spicy - just how we like it. My family and I were surprised when they brought bowls for all of us, because we did not expect it to be a shared soup, but the bowl was so huge that it was very easily shared between all of us. For my main course, I ordered their Crispy Pad Thai noodles and they did not disappoint. The noodles were perfectly cooked and tossed with fresh vegetables and sweet Thai sauce. It looked like a won-ton salad, and was very tasty. Their fried rice is some of the best fried rice we have tried, and their red curry is AMAZING. Seriously, try their red curry and make it as spicy (or not) as you like; I have been to a lot of Thai restaurants and this is definitely one of the best red curries I have had the pleasure of trying.
For vegetarians, they use a lot of coconut milk in their dishes and are exceedingly generous with their portions of tofu; it is simply awesome. For spice lovers, they make it spicy appropriately spicy on request. Their highest level of spice is actually spicy, which is a hard thing to find in a lot of restaurants for spice lovers. Everything was reasonably priced considering the portion size of the food offered and attention to detail given to every dish. It is about 10 minutes from campus driving down University Ave, and parking was not too hard to find relatively close to the restaurant. The surrounding area can get a little questionable during night time, so please be aware of that when parking.
What truly sets this restaurant apart is the quality of ingredients used in each dish. You can tell that they take pride in sourcing local, fresh produce to create their flavorful creations. The service throughout my dining experience was top-notch. The waitstaff were attentive and always ready to provide recommendations based on our personal preferences.
I cannot recommend Eat At Thai enough for anyone craving an authentic Thai dining experience. It's clear that they are passionate about sharing their love for Thai cuisine with their customers. Whether you're a fan of bold flavors or prefer something milder, there is something for everyone on their menu. A great hidden gem in Berkeley for restaurant-goers of all kinds :-)
