Because of Culinary Class Wars, this is arguably the most talked-about restaurant in Korea right now.
Eatanic Garden, led by Chef Son Jong-won(孫鍾元), sits high above the city inside Josun Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Seoul. Where the view stretches quietly across the skyline.
But the restaurant isn’t busy simply because it’s trending. What draws people here is clarity. Korean ingredients, Korean seasons, and a chef who understands restraint as a form of confidence. The menu moves with intention—grains, roots, broths, preserved flavors. Each dish arrives softly but precisely, allowing the ingredients to speak without interruption. There’s a calm assurance in the cooking, one that neither chases novelty nor needs to explain itself.
I did briefly see Chef Son during lunch, but didn’t manage to take a photo—an unfortunate miss.
Hype may have brought people to the door. What keeps Eatanic Garden relevant is something quieter: a balance that feels deeply Korean and unmistakably contemporary.
